Where do I start! It's Friday, 7 am and I walk in smelling bagels!!!!! The service was so amazing at this location. There was an initial hiccup with my preorder. However, Leah contacted the Manager Don who clarified everything. Immediately, the staff began putting my order together and asked if I needed extra plates etc., they sliced three dozens bagels for me and I was in and out!! Mary, helped walk the other bag out since it was such a large order. They were all attentive, jovial and hospitable. We all know it's chaotic in the morning with breakfast but they did it was ease. It had been awhile since I ate Einstein and decided to visit this location since my son was hungry. The parking lot has plenty of space and a small dining area with a lot of stool and high table tops. The employees were busy and the cashier was very friendly. There were people coming in consistently but the wait time was short. I got a cinnamon muffin and Nova Lox on an Asiago bagel. My son didn't enjoy the muffin as much as I thought he would but did like my bagel with the cream cheese filling. I ended up taking out the tomato and onion because it was way too thick. I hadn't been to this Einstein Bagel location in years since I don't frequent the Rice Village area as much as I used to (because they jacked up the parking and charge for almost every surface lot parking spot). I was in the mood for a solid breakfast bagel and happened to pick up the Texas Brisket Breakfast Bagel around lunch time on a Saturday. I must say - it was quite delicious. Einstein has always been a top bagel joint, so adding brisket and egg to that made for an exciting party in my mouth. But the $10 price tag was a bit steep. The parking can be tight at times but it wasn't bad when I visited. And while the service was a bit slow (we did a mobile order ahead of time and waited an additional 5 minutes after arriving), the staff was pleasant. We dined in and had he seated was generally empty and relatively clean. The worst part of the experience was getting back on Kirby Dr to get to 59, but that's not really the restaurant's fault. Just too many cars on a Saturday afternoon and unnecessarily long red lights. Give Einstein Bagel a try if it's been a while. And splurge on a breakfast bagel meal to see what you've been missing. read more

I was getting my hair done at a salon in Houston, so of course I had to leave 2 hours to get there. The gps said it was going to be an hour to get there ... but what about the horrible Houston traffic at 9:00 am????? It was an egg, Thick-Cut Bacon, Smoked Ham, Cheddar Cheese with Country Pepper Shmear on a Cheesy Hash Brown Gourmet Bagel. It had great flavor and was very filling. The country pepper shmear was a bit much. There was so much on it that all of the stuff inside the bagel fell out and it made it hard to eat. With that being said it was still good. It was so fantastic to feel so warmly welcomed--fantastic staff and the heady scent of superior coffee! While there wasn't any question about the lovely dark liquid, I did have a small quandary concerning the brekkie bagel--the numerous choices meant another early morning decision [my "shortcut" was confused by too many same-named streets ("Rice", "College") often distant from each other!], but was quickly decided upon the chorizo bagel! The dark roast coffee for me was a no-brainer, but the value was exponentially increased when I added some ice, making the HOT fluid instantly drinkable! The bagels are great. However, they sent a promotional email for 13 bagels and a schmear for $10 for online orders however, when I placed the order, it came out to 3 times that amount. I called and called but no one ever answered. Otherwise I would have given them a much higher rating because even full priced they're very good but consumers are tired of false advertising and bad customer service. What an absolute joke. I ordered through UberEats and it's clear Einstein Bros has 0 regard for their customers. All food arrived cold despite being barely over a mile way from my residence. When ordering through the app, all flavoring options for the cold brew coffee were grayed out. First of all, how do you run out of every flavoring? But second, they just sent a cup of plain cold brew, no creamer included, no milk added, nothing. That's insane, if they were going to give nothing, why not at least call me to confirm? Who drinks just straight black cold brew? You couldn't include any creamer? The twice-baked hash brown was not only not good, but they wrapped it so tightly in the bag that it came in and it was so soggy that the entire top of the hash brown adhered to the bag and stuck to it so it just came off. This location is not the cleanest, I think mostly since most people come and go through the location but the staff was nice and my lox bagel came out quickly. Much like many others, I got my food and left. I was planning on eating there until I saw the state of their dining area. Tables were dirty and it just looked a bit run down. Decent coffee and food, the line can get pretty long on the weekends and the seating area is crowded, cramped, and a bit dirty though which is unfortunate. Be prepared to have to clean your table from others trash and crumbs if you want to sit down and eat. Needed a quick bite for breakfast after the gym and this place was nearby! Placed a takeout order on the app and it was ready by the time we arrived only a few minutes later. The ham and Swiss bagel sandwich I got was pretty good. The bagel was toasted nicely but the insides of the sandwich themself felt a little artificial or low quality to me. It was still a very satisfying decent breakfast and is very consistent with the other times I have gotten einsteins. Second time here ever - first was eight or more years ago - and it's no better. Service is slow with five people in line and three people standing around behind the counter talking and laughing and one person working. Their throughput here is a joke. One person whom I think is the manager was doing some work in the ceiling in the seating area and had his tools needlessly spread out over all the seating tables except one or two places blocking people sitting. Just not a comfortable place to eat. This is my second time here and the second time I note that they operate at about 10% efficiency, literally. At 9:00 AM on upper Kirby they should be packed and people streaming in and out nonstop. The chirizo taco was horrible. Literally inedible. in NY/NJ i would've given this place a 3, but in Texas it gets a 4 stars. i'm not sure why the other reviews are so bad, this is a pretty solid place to grab a bagel. I went with the classic staple, everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. The bagel was really good, a standard bagel with just enough cream cheese. Definitely better than a dunkin donuts bagel by comparison. The coffee was also surprisingly good. For covid they have indoor and outdoor dining available at this location, all of the staff wore masks. All of the patrons wore masks but not all adhered to social distancing (not a huge deal to me since i was only in here for a few minutes). This place had declined so much over the past few years. This used to be a pleasant bagel spot with a nice seating area and friendly staff. Now it's gloomy and looks almost abandoned inside. The staff is awful and impolite. It is always very dirty (dirty floors, dirty countertops and tabletops). It's too bad because the bagels are very good but I had to give up on this spot. We eat here all the time and love it for all it's faults they still offer a good product. Today was different. Their AC was out and they should have closed. For working conditions, but also for food safety. They could not possibly keep the food safe and you can see what I noticed after consuming the orange juice and cream cheese below. The ice maker could not keep up so the drink were not good today. This to me is a red flag when things go wrong, they are willing to take risks with public health and workers conditions and the dining room was too hot to sit and eat. Had I noticed the thermometer in the cooler, I would have taken my family someplace else. I don't play with food safety. read more

I love this place. I'm so sad the one closer to me closed and I drive an hour just to eat here. Every time I go my food makes me so incredibly happy it's always perfect. The bacon egg and cheese with the hash-brown.... Chef kiss. The older gentleman who was at the register was so sweet and took care of us. The staff making the bagels all looked like they were having fun. I don't know why this place gets such bad reviews but I think it's a great establishment and I love it. Yes the layout is a little confusing ? They probably need signs above to say where to order or where to wait for the food and where to stand in line when it's busy.
