We were staying at a hotel just outside Golden, so we ventured into the downtown area for coffee…read moreearly (6:30/7:00 AM) on a weekday. It was a ghost town. And some coffee places that were supposed to be open weren't. We then found Cafe 13, and we were so glad we did. It has a very inviting, cozy atmosphere. And all of the food piled up behind the glass looked amazing. We were only getting coffee, but I knew we had to try something to eat. We ordered some sort of berry scone. It was amazing. The coffee was hot and delicious, too. And everyone was very friendly that we encountered as well. We sat at a long communal table in the front room (there are other rooms to explore/sit as well). We never made it back to Cafe 13 on our visit, but if we're in the area again, it'll definitely be the first spot we hit when looking for coffee and a light breakfast.

I opted for the Thai Chicken Salad and a bowl of Green Chili. Both were good. The salad had fresh ingredients and was filling. The chili had great flavor and a good kick of spiciness to it. I definitely ordered too much food for myself! I didn't realize how large the salad was going to be but I was happy about the portion size for the cost. The staff is very friendly. I would say this place is a bit loud- there were a lot of conversations going on around me. If you plan to come here for a quiet lunch or to get some work done, I recommend bringing headphones.

There was also a live guitar performance that added a nice touch to the overall vibe. Both the indoor and outdoor seating areas are great options. The café is located near a small river, and the outdoor seating is surrounded by green space, creating a peaceful and relaxing setting. The indoor seating is cozy and comfortable as well. Our server was very friendly and welcoming, and overall we had a great experience and would happily come back.

Expect to wait 30-60 minutes for a breakfast/brunch table, especially if you want one of the coveted outdoor spots. The seating is worth it though, the view of the forest and creek from your table is so endearing and serene. The food and drinks are delicious. The meals are all ornately plated, and well thought out, and made with great ingredients. The venue is semi-open air so there are a lot of flies, but every table has an anti-fly windmill/propeller. I will definitely go back, but now I know parking is super limited and annoying. All of the businesses in town are hyper aware of how limited this very popular restaurant's parking is, and aggressively inform you they are "Not Restaurant Parking". Plan to park curbside in the dirt on the outskirts of town far from any other business, and make the short walk to the restaurant.

Great group spot with something for everyone…read more Golden Mill is an awesome location if you're with a group with varying tastes or appetites. Everyone can be on their own tab and choose from a variety of food spots, and you can self-serve beer on tap, pre-mixed cocktails on tap, or soda from the fountain. Happy hour prices are great if you stop by at the right time (I believe it's mid-afternoon on weekdays). A pint of Coors was around $2.80, and all the food spots have discounted happy hour items too. We took advantage and ordered the Hurricane chicken wings from Republik of Chicken, which were tasty in an Asian-inspired sauce and great to share for the table. On a previous visit I had the Hurricane spicy chicken sandwich (from the same food stall) which I didn't find spicy, but it was overall quite yummy. This time I ordered a tuna poke bowl from Sushi Sora upstairs, a classic build-your-own poke bowl setup. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the bowl and the tuna, especially since we're in Colorado. It paired quite well with the wings we ordered for the table. Others I've been with have ordered from the BBQ place and the taco place, and had ice cream, and everyone has loved their orders. Overall, great spot with a great vibe. It's a great place to bring visitors or to stop by if you're in the area and want to enjoy some good weather, with plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor.

I had a great experience at The Golden Mill and I like this food hall concept. It is a drink, eat,…read moreand socialize atmosphere spread across multiple floors. The spectacle here is a rotating showcase of beer, wine, and cocktails on a self-pour tap wall. As you can see from the photos, you identify the drink you want and pour it yourself. How it works: you obtain a swipe card from the register. Like a bar, they open a tab for you after confirming your identity (ID check) and storing your credit card information. You are then issued a Golden Mill charge card that you will swipe at the wall to pour your drinks. Pours are charged by the ounce. The cocktails are reasonably priced, however, unless you're an expert draft pourer you can rack up quite the bill trying to pour draft beer with minimal head. A worker helped me to pour my draft using his own card after my failed attempt. Workers are posted near the wall and maintain a close eye to assist customers which I believe is great customer service to mitigate user errors simply from a Murphy's Law perspective. Like many other food halls I've experienced, this one also has a good selection of food vendors ranging from BBQ, sushi, tacos, ice cream, and chicken. High tables, lounge tables, and standing areas are ample here. The scene is also a good venue for hosting small events. When I visited there was a live band performing downstairs. The customer service was very friendly. Parking nearby was not ideal and there is strict parking enforcement at the lot adjacent to the facility. Overall, a great experience and I will visit again when in the area.

Their mocktail list (Aspen Lemonade, Cucumber Cooler, Kombucha Spritz) shows they actually put thought into the non-drinkers at the table. For everyone else, there's a solid lineup of Colorado drafts and cans, seasonal cocktails, and a wine list with suggested food pairings. Don't miss Truck Eddy, their BBQ & shakes food truck parked out front, which runs Thursday through Sunday. Brisket, burnt ends, cheese curds, and a Pup Shake for your dog make it a reason to come back. Great food, great views, and a relaxed vibe. It's a perfect stop after a hike or a drive up Clear Creek Canyon. I'll be back. Ask for Jason his An awesome waiter.

They were kind of just fatty pieces of barbecue meat. Still delicious and the sauces were great, but not really what I was hoping for. We ordered cheese curds, which were actually cubes and that is the first time I've ever seen shaped curds. They were pretty good, as was the sausage and mac & cheese, though the cheese sauce was a little thin. My mom had the focaccia grilled cheese, which had awesome flavors in it, but the focaccia itself was super thick. If we could decrease the bread by like half I think this would be an awesome choice. I think the main reason I would go to the Eddy is to hang out on their patio, especially when they have live music. It's a good view of golden in the foothills and its probably a great sunset spot. They also have a lot of good nonalcoholic options which we really appreciated - including nonalcoholic wine, which you don't see very often . I think I would stop back here on my way back from hiking or climbing in the canyon but I hope to be a little more impressed by the food next time.

From the outside, it doesn't look like a diner, but the food is high-quality diner food. We had the diner plate (biscuits and gravy, hash browns, and eggs), a special (a variation on an eggs Benedict), a scramble with bacon, avocado and Monterey jack (with the unfortunate name B.A.M.J.O.), and the round-up (in my case blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage patty). All were good. We also had coffee, Earl Grey tea, a spicy bloody Mary (delicious), and a non-standard mimosa -- the drinks were also good. The atmosphere is convivial - and the staff is efficient. I should also give a shout-out to their use of technology: beepers to notify you when your table is ready (they can get busy during obvious peak times) and mobile payment devices (they take your credit card at the table).

Since the dish was covered in it, it didn't make my meal super appealing, but everything else, including my eggs, toast and side of bacon were fine. I was also a bit bummed they didn't have the brisket sausage to try. Does look like a fun local spot that is frequented in the area, I just couldn't get behind the green chile sauce of this dish.
