One thing that New York is known for is their New York Cheesecake so I wanted to check out a cheesecake place while in NYC! Eileen's is a small shop located in SoHo. We took the subway to Spring Street and it was just a block away! We tried an assortment of their small cheesecakes. I like that they more have individual sized cheesecakes as their main sellers since having to eat an entire cheesecake is a bit more of an undertaking. Their red velvet cheesecake tasted more like banana which was pretty odd. The best one out of all the ones that I tried was the chocolate one. I definitely feel like this is a great stop to add for a food tour around NYC. read more

I visited this place a while ago but still dream about how delicious their mini cheesecakes are. This is one of the best NY cheesecakes I've ever had! Definitely top 2. There's quite a selection of small individual cheesecakes, and there are also larger cakes/slices available. For me, it's impossible to beat the classic one. You order at the counter and you can get it to eat there at a small corner standing counter if you like. Very casual with a steady stream of customers. Service is fast! $6.50 for one individual plain cheesecake, worth every penny. Stopped by Eileen's Special Cheesecake after seeing a lot of good reviews, and it definitely lived up to it. I'm not usually a big cheesecake person, but this was really good. We tried the marble, strawberry, and cookies & cream--honestly all solid, but the strawberry was my favorite. Portion size is on the smaller side (about the size of an egg tart), but that's pretty standard for Manhattan. The service was great and she recommended the raspberry cheesecake but my daughter didn't like raspberry so we got the classic. It's supposed to be the best in New York and better than Junior's in Time Square. There was a good tour group already inside but it went quickly. It's a nice in the hand size to eat. There's a reason why this spot is basically a nyc staple at this point. Came here and grabbed two small cheesecakes (crème brûlée & Oreo). They were like $7-$8 per, a little pricey but definitely worth it! Flavor notes were on point and the texture/consistency was perfect for a cheesecake. A must try if you're in the soho area. I like that cheesecake are round individual pieces as opposed to slices - they travel better . I had the Salted Caramel (popular) and the coconut. Both really good , the Salted Caramel was definitely my favorite. Texture, creamy and rich but not overly dense , sweetness level is perfect for my taste. My friend and I stopped in here a few weeks ago and absolutely loved our experience! I can't emphasize enough how fun and friendly the staff members were while we were here. We were here around 4 of the NBA final, so I chose the Jalen Brunson themed plain cheesecake, and the guys working started cheering when I ordered which made us laugh. We decided to share the cheesecake in the store since it was so hot out, and it was so good we went back up to order another one (lemon)! What an absolute gem to stumble upon in the lower east side wow. My friends and I were craving desserts after eating dinner in Chinatown. We found this place on Yelp and arrived here Saturday at 5pm during peak tourist season. The line was out the door, and it was packed here despite the cold rather outside. There are so many mini cheesecakes to pick from each of which is around 6-7 dollars for a small tart cheese cake about 1-2 inches in diameter. There are so many options to pick from it was so hard to decide which cheesecake I wanted to try. There is no seating inside, it's quite a small indoors and can get a bit cramped in the crowd. As we walked up to the counter there were 2 people taking orders and seeing all the cheesecake tarts in person made it even harder to decide. I ordered the creme brule cheesecake and seeing them put the topping on top made it even more enticing. My friends ordered the banana mini cheesecake and the original, and all three were great options. While there are so many options my opinion is that each is fantastic and I can't wait to come back and try more. I think I did make the right decision with the creme brûlée cheesecake which I devoured in like 3 bites. So glad to have stumbled upon this place and excited to try more. read more

This is such a fun concept of mini cheesecakes with so many options for flavors. My friend and I shared the key lime pie which was good, and not overly citrusy. i personally prefer my citrus desserts to be super punchy tart, but i still enjoyed it. My other friend got the salted caramel which I actually preferred. It's like crème brûlée and caramel had a baby, and it was perfectly caramelized. The mini cheesecakes are honestly a perfect portion but they do have full size cakes and cannolis too, if you're not feeling cheesecake. They are the perfect individual portion sizes but you can easily cut in half to share so you can sample more flavors! The cakes were very creamy. I also thought the cannoli was really good. The chocolate chip cookies were soft and on the medium to small size - they reminded me of the Entenmann's soft choc chip cookies, with a little saltiness to them. The bake shop is small and very charming, truly maintaining that traditional mom-and-pop vibe as a local business with its white and blue interior, artistic chalkboards, and neighborhood memorabilia. The number of flavors to choose from was astonishing, and the service went above and beyond what I expected. The representative behind the counter not only knew each of the cheesecakes and their flavor profiles in depth--it was almost as if I were talking to an experienced bartender. I asked him what his favorite cheesecake was, and he told me the blueberry flavor was his favorite. He explained that since blueberries grow natively in New York, the fruit would be of higher quality compared to most of the other fruit cheesecake options. So I opted for a mini version of the blueberry cheesecake since I only wanted a sample. Unlike many cheesecakes I've had in the past, this one had a light, tangy flavor, and the texture reminded me of a thick mousse. The graham cracker crust wasn't firm but rather crumbly, providing a nice caramel-like flavor that balanced out the richness of the cheese custard. I must have walked past it over a dozen times, but just decided I would drop in. Tiny is the word, even for Manhattan. I like that they also cater to those looking for a small portion. That is what I got. A small cheesecake, plain. Just right for me as an individual serving in the afternoon. The manager was very accomodating. There is a small area where you can eat in. I was very happy, since I was visiting in February with day old snow on the ground outside. Compared to a popular Brooklyn cream cheese based cake, this is a much lighter cake in physical weight and texture, dare I say, airy? Much more to my liking.
