Chef Donny at Eiko's Fish Market - Oxbow Napa with my chirashi bowl!
Benjamin P.

Chef Donny at Eiko's Fish Market - Oxbow Napa is legitimately a sushi/sashimi master! His knife work and precision was art. I asked for something I had one time and didn't recognize any matching descriptions on their menu. So I described it to chef Donny and he said, "I think I know what you're looking for... a Chirashi bowl."For those who've never had it before, it's chef's choice sashimi selections served in a bowl of sushi rice with some sauce. The photos I took do not do it justice. Let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Thank you Chef Donny! See you next time on my return trip to Napa.

Two sushi rolls and one order of salmon nigiri. Topped off with unfiltered sake.

I will do this again. The sushi was amazing. The service was awesome. A great experience overall. I could not believe how fresh the sushi was. Good job all.

Classic Miso Soup

My lunch treat on a Wednesday was a trip to Eiko's. The small spot had maybe 6 chairs. The service was lightning fast and I enjoyed my quick bite. Miso soup was really good. The added mushrooms were good. However, for $10, I don't know if I am going to get it again. The poke bowl on the other hand is ok. I wished there were a little bit more toppings. Anyways, I will try the other poke bowl next time.

Looking for a place to meet friends for dinner and they suggested we try Eiko's and so glad we did! I had the house salad which was the bessst house salad I've ever had. Yes, nothing about a house salad sounds fancy but the dressing was crack, I would put it on anything. For dinner I had the Hawaiian poke bowl and it was the best poke bowl I've had in California. It literally took me back to the islands. My husband asked the Donnie the sushi chef what he recommended and he suggested the sashimi sampler and we were shocked how generous the portions were! There's only about 10 seats there but what it lacks in space, makes up for the personal attention you get from Donnie. If we're ever in town, we'll definitely be back.

I was standing near the sushi bar when I arrived, nobody greeted me, chef was right there, didn't say anything to me, dirty plates and food left all over the sushi bar so I didn't sit down as it was not clean and I didn't want to clean it all myself. So I decided to order at the cashier. I probably would have chose another place inside the market but it was late and few options. I got the Hawaiian poke bowl. It was yummy, high price but had lots of fish so I feel that was fair and the taste and quality was high. I ended up squeezing in At the end of the sushi bar. I told my cashier I wanted to eat at the sushi bar and she said she would tell the chef, however the chef served me food in a to-go bowl . Then I asked the chef for soy sauce and he gave me to-go packets even though I was eating there. I didn't really feel welcomed. The chef was talking to a customer next to me for the whole time I was there but never talked to me. I would have bought more items if the chef suggested something special to me. I had a beer, it was good. Cashier was very friendly. Sushi chef was nice enough to get me soy sauce so he wasn't rude or anything. The food was good. After I was done eating they started to clean up and finally started to clean up all the food at the sushi bar. So it sat there for my whole meal. Nobody could sit in those seats the whole time. Maybe they didn't notice. So I'm kind of torn how many stars to give this place. I didn't really feel taken care of or that welcome. Food was good however. Place was messy because of no cleaning up after customers until closing time. I guess I will go with four stars because I would eat there again. I just feel that the staff can do so much better if they would consider things from the other side of the sushi bar as a customer. Sorry for my honesty here, I didn't really look forward to writing this review. I worked at sushi restaurant for a few years as a waitress and I know how difficult of a job it can be.

California Roll

Was cool to see the roll be made in front of me. Very fresh! Service was slow, but overall would recommend. I don't like raw fish, so had the California roll.

Best quality Crab salmon, from front to Back clean, like being in the kitchen watching the staff and chefs at work

To Go! Great food they set everything up to Go! Recommend The Ricky, Ricardo crab avocado, salmon, with spicy sauce Oh LaLa Bamba!! little Ricky

Had an excellent lunch the other day. Brian the sushi chef was great. He made suggestions and recommendations and all were delicious. The hamachi bombs are a new all time favorite for me! The Toro was delicious and the rolls were done really well. Would definitely come back!

Scallops. Look at how big those are !
Joanne C.

This review is solely for their fresh scallops!!! whenever I'm in napa, I try to come here and get their scallops. It's huge and decently priced. I got 5pc for about $25! comes with ginger, wasabi, and soy sauce. You can probably even bring it home and make a diced scallop nigiri with spicy mayo and it'll be so delish.

Ceba handroll with spicy sauce and green onions

Austin is amazing!!! He packed the heck out my handroll ($10/each) These suckers are large enough to keep you full Recommendations: - crab handroll (additions: avocado, green onions, jalapeños and slick sauce) - Wish they had scallops - they can add whatever you want in the handroll :-) - also recommend the Ricky Ricardo roll Also recommend avoiding the smoked salmon- perfectly acceptable but a little too salty for me :-)

Sushi never disappoints Eiko's! Seen Rainbow Roll & Ricky Ricardo @ The Oxbow. Ate Oxbow Public Market 2x's in a week. Thanks Chef Brian!

I was pretty skeptical about ordering sushi here at first, but I'm glad I gave it a try. I ordered the California and lion kind rolls and they were actually good! I just wish the rice was seasoned more and that it wasn't cold. I have never had a cold lion king before but it was really different from the rest of the lion kings I had before because their salmon was torched. I also like that they have so many bottled drinks to choose from. I saw bottled milk tea but didn't get to try it. Maybe next time! The cashier was very kind and the chefs got my order out in ten minutes. I would definitely eat this again!

ceviche, smoked salmon and uni
Noel C.

Was super excited to try the octopus ceviche and uni nigiri unfortunately both were missing the punch you in the mouth flavors. Counter Service was nice enough. They sell cute little Knick knacks too.

Spicy trio $12 and taste of sashimi $19

Service from the host, servers, and bussers went above and beyond. Honestly, couldn't remember what was ordered, but we ordered more than enough. Every dish was delicious and the wagyu and fish quality was great. The drinks were also strong but delicious. I believe I order the Love Spell twice. The price reflects the location, crowd and quality so we weren't too shocked at the bill. Will definitely be back!

As such, it was extremely noisy and you could see that couples on dates had a hard time even talking to one another, and eventually just stopped. I could barely hear my wife talking next to me. Most of the servers would even have to lean in to hear the orders. As for the food, nothing really stood out. We ordered a large variety as we were a group of 10 eating family style and nothing really stood out. The quality of the food I would say was akin to fast food or mall food court level, but you're paying 3 times as much. The price belied the food quality. For example, 3 small pieces of ribs as an appetizer for more than $30, I'd expect it to be uniquely spiced, flavorful and juicy, but it was rather dry and tasted as like sauce from Panda Express. Their Wagyu beef carpaccio had too many strong flavors so the taste of the beef itself was lost. Heck, it didn't even really have the notable creamy-like texture that wagyu was supposed to have either (likely a lower grade of wagyu, probably somewhere between USDA Choice and Prime). A lot of their items feel gimmicky too: the unagi clay pot came with some seaweed, a seaweed holder, and two small bottles of sauces. The sauces were bland and contributed nothing to the dish. Making your own "hand rolls" with the seaweed did nothing for this dish other than get your hands dirty. I've watched enough Iron Chef back in the day to understand that this is very Morimoto, as he tries to make the dishes fun. The unagi itself was quite nice, though it might be my personal bias. The Halibut we got was overcooked and dry. Yes halibut is a firmer meat, but man this was hard to eat. The best dish was likely the Ishiyaki Buri Bop, which came with some tables idea theatrics. Nevertheless, for the price, you could do much better at a place like Kunjip Tofu in the bay. Overall, a bad experience. Based on the price point, I thought we'd be getting better food and better ambience, but it was overall mediocre - a blemish on the Morimoto name.

Date of Visit: 12/20/2025…read more This was our second visit to Kenzo Napa to celebrate our 4th Anniversary. Last time when we visited was the next day when we got married in Las Vegas! We stayed at Andaz Napa for one night before Christmas to celebrate our Anniversary, and we booked Kenzo Napa for the dinner and it was walkable distance from the hotel. Kenzo Napa was established by Kenzo Tsujimoto in 2016, and received Michelin 1 star in 2018, and every year ever since. The price for Kaiseki is $295 per person, and my husband ordered the Omakase Pairing $197 and I got a bottle of Aoki Shuzo, "Yuki Otoko" Junmai, Niigata $40 to pair with the set. 2021 Suzu First glass of the omakase pairing is the sparking rose. This is made with 54% Malbec, 37% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc, with the smell of strawberry and blood orange. Cauliflower Chawanmushi The first dish is chawanmushi, with ginger, snow crab, etc. 2024 asatsuyu The second glass of the omakase pairing was the Sauvignon Blanc. The name is from Japanese meaning morning dew. Seasonal Hassun The second dish is the seasonal hassun, which is the traditional Japanese appetizer. Five different small dishes including the lotus root dumpling with bottarga, ehime bluefin tuna, shiso leaves rolled angel shrimp, Japanese yam with Italian caviar, and Hokkaido scallop with persimmon with peanuts. Sawahime Yamahai Junmai Third glass of the omakase pairing is the Junmai with the aromas of gardenia, ripe kiwi, papaya, green peppercorn, aged comte cheese. Yamaguchi Tilefish Owan This one is our favorite dish of the day! Very fresh and refreshing, with fish and vegetable and mushroom. Midorikawa Daiginjo The fourth glass of the pairing has a great hint of spice but elegant at the same time. Oita Sea Bream Sashimi The fourth dishes is the sashimi, paired with ponzu sesame shoyu. 2023 yui Rosé This Rosé was made with 65% Malbec, 26% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Paired greatly with the next course. Simmered Mie Toro Sawara Mackerel Love the texture of the mackerel. 2021 Asuka Asuka was made with 83% Cabernet Franc, 11.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot. Got 93 points on Wine Enthusiast. Wagyu Tendon and Japanese Taro Croquette This Croquette was made with Japanese taro and wagyu beef. 2020 Rindo And with the next course is the red blend made with 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot, 23% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, 6% Cabernet Franc. The wine has great berry aroma and spices. A5 Wagyu Tenderloin Jibuni The seventh course is the A5 wagyu beef steak. Cut into bite sizes, with mushrooms and veggies. Daishichi Minowamon This sake has a strong smell of berry, banana, and pear. Velvety and buttery. Hokkaido Sea Urchin, Ikura and Mediterranean Bluefin Tuna Sushi Bowl served with red miso soup One of my favorite Japanese seafood bowl! Chef's Featured Desserts Three different desserts was great too. It has a goji berry panna cotta and fried spring roll with vanilla ice cream, and also a berry ice cream with caramelized walnut. And on the side there was a warm green tea, making a sweet and perfect ending.

We were seated at the chef's counter which was separated from the main dining area by a curtain, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! The food was delicious. Some standouts for me were: the tomato jelly with hokkaido sea urchin, oita sea bream sashimi, simmered nagasaki sea eel, and the slow-roasted A5 wagyu tenderloin okakiage. The slow-roasted A5 wagyu tenderloin okakiage had a thin, deep-fried exterior that blew my mind. The only side that I didn't fancy was the white grapes and figs with tofu dressing from the seasonal hassun, but I personally don't like figs. The blue fin otoro for chef's finale of sushi selection was also very memorable, paired with the red miso soup to wash it all down. Both our server, Martin, and our chef delivered impeccable service. Highly recommend Kenzo and we'll definitely be back!

My favorite roll here is the Dragon roll. It's really a nice sized roll. It's the perfect balance of sweetness, crunch and umami. We tried the agedashi tofu. Next time I would ask them not to but bonito flakes on it, but that's just my personal preference. It was well fried and pillowy soft as well as crunchy. The sauce was really tasty. The salmon carpaccio was okay. Next time I would ask they not add the truffle oil. I felt like it took away from the flavor a bit. The radish micro greens were a nice spicy touch. We also tried a new roll this time, the climax roll. It was good. Spicy, sweet and crunchy. Again it was a nice sized roll. We love this spot and we come to eat here whenever we are in the area.
