Favorite thing here was hands down the pancake. Don't know why but probably had to do with the fact that they were perfectly cooked fluffy and every bite was just downright delicious. We also had omelettes which were good and gigantic. The one downside was that they overcooked my omelet. Not burnt but that level where it gets dark on the edges and tastes like burnt egg and made it not as soft. Great breakfast choice for the area though. And definitely try the hot sauce! read more

Went here the other day with my partner on her recommendation, was very satisfied with the service and ambiance. Got a breakfast burrito with hash browns and a classic crepe with blueberries, both were tasty! Their menu is massive so definitely plan to return to try out other items. Perfect food! Loved the hot sauce. Chef is immaculate. Service is ok but you see that some waiters are working really hard but I had to wait awhile until my server came to get the check. I had to ask someone another waiter for the check instead. Also the orange juice glass sizes are a little bit strange. It's priced for 3.99 and they served me a small kid glass I looked at everyone's table and they were served a larger glass of orange juice? When I asked the waiter he said they they asked for a large cup?? But why was my glass a small kid size? No one asked me if I wanted a large cup? I hate writing negative reviews, and was half tempted to leave a 2 star review without any description, but that wouldn't be fair to the restaurant so here I am. The reason for the two star review was the quality of the food. We ordered four dishes - the smoked salmon Benedict, the egg Benedict, the eggscelent skillet, and the nutella crepe - and all of them were pretty underwhelming. With the smoked salmon benedict, the salmon was extremely thick and not smoked at all, which lead to an extremely overwhelming seafood/fishy taste with every bite. I ended up removing the fish slices and eating the rest of the benedict by itself. With the eggs benedict, the underlying muffin was already soggy and cold when the it was brought out. With the eggscelent skillet, the whole skilled was terribly under seasoned and not flavorful at all - both the eggs and the chicken sausage tasted bland. And finally, with the nutella crepe, the crepe was super eggy and thick, and it tasted like we were eating french toast rather than a crepe. While the food was not the best, the service was pretty good and our waitstaff was friendly. Don't think we'll return here anytime soon though. read more

I'll start my review off by saying this is my favorite breakfast place when I'm looking for a "traditional" American breakfast. What I mean by this is things along the lines of eggs, steak, bacon, corned beef hash, etc. Everything here is cooked simply, but to perfection. Honestly have never had a breakfast ribeye steak as good as this place's, ever. And the chefs know how to cook a steak to order. Have never had a steak overcooked or undercooked, yet. The corned beef hash here is also the best I've ever had. The occasional crunchy bite is amazing. The sausage, pancakes, and hash browns are nothing special. My family and I came here to have Sunday brunch. Ended up having to wait at least 45 minutes for a table, which I can understand since it is a Sunday after all. It was pretty cold out, so we had to wait in the car for awhile. I was really surprised to see how much variety their menu has! I opted for their chicken fried chicken with over easy eggs, chicken noodle soup, and pancakes. Their chicken fried chicken is very bready and is topped with a generous amount of white gravy. Stopped in this place for a late Sunday brunch. Business was slowing down so we were seated right away. Got to give a big up to the friendliness of the staff here they were great. Now on to the food..it was really good. I usually am not too impressed by the local brunch cafés in the area. But this one was really good. The food here was well seasoned!! and cooked to perfection. We went when it was busy, Sunday after church. I was really excited to try this place because it had great reviews. My family and I even waited 45 minutes outside - which was no small feat since I'm 7 months pregnant and there wasn't enough outdoor seating so I had to sit on the concrete sidewalk. I didn't mind, I'm in good shape and I looked through reviews in Yelp and saw what other customers ordered and narrowed it down to the banana Nutella crepes or the biscuits and gravy omelette. Eventually we got in. Then we waited a long time to order. Like, a surprisingly long time. I don't know exactly how long, and maybe it just felt longer because we'd already been pretty patient. After we ordered, we waited for the food to come. This also took awhile. And... it was disappointing. My food was lukewarm by the time I got it, we had a hard time getting coffee refilled (let alone cream and sugar,) and the eggs in the the eggs Benedict were very undercooked. Not a little undercooked. A lot undercooked. I never mentioned my lukewarm food, I wasn't trying to be a Karen. Our waiter at best may have been a little slow, and at worst he was rude. We tried to tell him that the eggs were undercooked with a lot of runny white. He then attempted to explain to us that the eggs were supposed to be that way... except when we ordered them we had specifically asked to have them cooked a little longer so there would be no runny whites... I gave him the benefit of the doubt and assumed he was a bit slow and still gave him a generous tip despite the issues we encountered. Maybe it was just an off day? The hostess at the front and the other person we talked to about the eggs being undercooked were nice enough. They did bring us out new eggs. They were more done than before, but my mother was still uncomfortable with the amount of runny white she saw , and declined to have them remade or substituted. They were kind enough to not charge us for the raw food we couldn't eat. I also thought the place was a little dirty. I hate to be that guy, but a few places around the restaurant looked like they needed a good scrubbing. I did take pictures, but Yelp is a pain to pull them up from. I can, if anyone is really that interested. I had a lot of extra time for photography while I was there. All in all I am disappointed, I really wanted to like this place. The food was eggcellent! I ordered a lot for the weekend since I didn't have time to grocery shop. 1 Biscuit 12 out 10 So fluffy and moist. I rebooted it 2 Sausage gravy 7.25 because it was very liquid, too salty, not enough pepper. Little light on sausage but not a huge deal Cinnamon toast side 10 it was the best thing ever. A NUST order!! 3 Kids egg meal 9.3 poached egg was not runny it was overcooked. Just get sunny. Bacon under cooked. High no due to hash browns being perfect in every way. My son loved the hash browns. 4 Croissant chicken Waldorf salad. 6.9 out of 10 because they don't make it correctly. Where's the grape halves?! Too much mayo and I like a lot but this was dripping globs. There wasn't enough celery if any, weird soggy pecans. They do get extra points for the wonderful two tomatoes and crisp lettuce with the pickles. 5 Tomato soup 5 it's not bad but it's not great. Needs more cream and not so sweet for my taste anyway. 6 French Fries 7.4 I love those type fries but not many and cold by the time they arrived. We all had a couple but ehh. 7 Not impressed with the burger. 3.75 Typically breakfast places have a wonderful burger that's hot, juicy, sizzle from the grill with some nice juice dripping down your arm on a nice toasted crispy edge bun. However, this was dry and below average. School bother level at best. Try again. 8 Side of strawberrirs 9.8 no real complaints. Fresh, sliced, juicy and the bowl was filled. I got a couple old ones but they were way better than most places. Kids drinks were better than most because the covers were better than most but I don't understand why cafes don't just get boxed milk and juices for delivery. I would think that any drink would be best legally in a container that in a tamper safe container. Packaged well 8 out 10 Overall I give this place a 9.6 for taste, value and servings. T There seems to be a new manager, ot something changed, but this is not the place is used to be. The most recent visit was a complete fiasco. I called to be added to the wait list, I was told it would be 25 minutes, we arrived within 20 minutes, T Hey could not initially locate the record of my call, and, either they didn't record it or used an entirely different name. We were told that there were two groups ahead of us and it would be about another 20 minutes. 40 minutes later and 5 groups having gone in a head of use, we mad reservation online for a place across town and left. I get thighs can go wrong but the pattern of misrepresentation here is entirely unacceptable, and that coupled with the decline in food quality mean this was likely our last visit/ read more

We were over in Carrolton and decided to find a new breakfast spot. Their 4.6 star rating won us over to give them a try! We got there close to closing time so they were pretty full but no wait. It is a smaller space so can see them filling up quick in prime breakfast and brunch times. Lots of great breakfast options on the menu for sure. I went with the french connection breakfast which is french toast with egg and sausage and bacon. I upgraded the french toast to the very berry. It came with a ton of fruit and a heart attack scoop of the marscapone cheese. I asked for crispy bacon. I think the conversation in the kitchen went like this " hey Bob this guy wants crispy bacon....hold my beer and watch this...". I got beyond crispy bacon which while not the best crispy bacon it was still bacon. Just wouldn't ask for crispy. You might want to use a less fun adjective. Also got the cinnamon roll french toast. Walked in to smiling faces and was acknowledged right away and guided to our seats. I ordered the iron man scramble for a healthy option. I like that they have quite a variety of food from waffles to burgers to skillets and omelettes, as well as healthy menu options at the bottom. After finding this place on Yelp and looking at all of the wonderful pictures of food on here, I was really looking forward to having brunch here on my last day in Texas. However, I must say that I was disappointed with my dining experience here. The restaurant itself is beautiful and gives the café look and feel. Seating can be an issue here, but if you are really determined to dine here, I guess it will be worth waiting for. Parking can also be an issue, since the lot seems like it didn't have enough spaces for the amount of business in the area. Also be careful for people that want to drive very fast through parking lots. There were a lot of them here. The customer service was a hit or miss. Some of the staff that we interacted with were friendly and helpful; however, our waitress wasn't personable at all and was clearly in a bad mood. She obviously seemed irritated and didn't want to interact with anyone. That being said, she wasn't very attentive to us. We had to flag her down a couple of times for maple syrup for our pancakes and refills on our drinks. I understand that we all have bad days, but it's another thing to take out that frustration on guests. The food was OK, but it wasn't five star worthy. I ended up ordering the biscuits & gravy omelette, which apparently Eggsellent Café is famous for, but it wasn't flavorful. The gravy, in my opinion, is what makes or breaks a dish that heavily relies on it. And in this case, the gravy definitely broke this dish. The gravy wasn't flavorful at all, so I was under impressed with their "famous" dish. My boyfriend ordered the 2x4 breakfast, which he wasn't impressed with either. It comes with two sausage patties that were very bland. Overall, I'm not impressed with my dining experience at Eggsellent Café. Hate breakfast foods like eggs and pancake but I was so impressed with the menu, quality of food and the prices! The best part! I had the Venetian chicken panini and salad, he had chicken noodle soup. My sandwich-amazing! Loads of grilled chicken, lots of veggies and melty cheese. Came piping hot, huge portion and, got a salad on the side instead of fries, okra, fruit or soup. The best part was it was like 9 bucks, where just a similar sandwich itself costs way more, and is lower in quality at the competition like Panera or Corner Bakery. I'm officially making the switch! I have visited this place twice. I love the food. On this second visit the food was absolutely delicious. I love that we can customize our waffles, pancakes, and French toast. My eggs were perfect (not a lot of places cook them like I like them, soft scrambled). The service was not the best this second time. As the waiter set everything on one side of the table and did not even think to walk around. It was only two people in our party so a few steps around the table would have made it a five star review. I notIced they had great reviews so I had to stop in and give it a try. They do not do reservations in case you are wondering. Arrived and there was a huge line. I was surprised when the receptionist said it wwoikd only be a fifteen minute wait. It's pretty small inside so it makes sense. I was seated after only about ten minutes so that was a nice surprise. The menu has all the standard breakfast foods you would expect. They do not have a bar so sadly there are no mimosas . But the food more than makes up for it. I went with a classic of a Belgian wAffle and a side of bacon. The service was super fast. I have to admit that they staff has it down. They are polite and know what they are doing. SERVICE: 5/5 Upon our arrival (party of 2), we were immediately put on the waitlist and given an estimated time and a buzzer device. We had gotten there on a packed Labor Day morning and only waited about 25 minutes. There was outdoor space to wait with PLENTIFUL SEATING as well as COMPLIMENTARY cold citrus infused water to keep us hydrated while waiting outside! Once seated, our waiter, a burly man, asked if we wanted hot coffee, which I obliged to, but my partner had their iced coffee. In the busy-ness of the restaurant our waiter seemed to always be ready to serve us and took our orders accordingly. FOOD: 5/5 I got the Bacado Omelette with the option of two pancakes and hash browns, which was surprisingly an ENORMOUS PORTION SIZE (my partner thought so as well). There was plentiful amount of egg and just the right amount of cheese for my taste (I love cheese). She had the Avocado Benedict, which I tried a bit and definitely have to keep that in mind to get next time! The egg yolk on the Avocado Benedict was a PERFECT CONSISTENCY and the English muffins, although stacked ingredients still maintained a slight CRUNCH due to toasting. They also have honey packets if ya ask for them and Cholula Hot Sauce and their own Eggsellent Hot Sauce Mix. **Important to note: the small bottle they give you with the cases of whipped butter, is actually syrup, not hot coffee. My partner made the grave mistake of pouring the syrup into her coffee thinking it was coffee HAHA. We had a good laugh about it. ENVIRONMENT: 5/5 A WELL VENTILATED space with multiple ceiling fans, air conditioned, and some portable fans in case the Texas temperatures get a little too unbearable. A sort of lofty feel to this space. The tables in the center are a little close to each other but not so much that it was uncomfortable. Took my parents to this place just to try it for Father's Day this year and it's a place we go all the time now! The food comes out hot, even on busy days like holidays and the servers are great!
