    Shrimp + Grits

Always a great meal. Charming companion had Shrimp + grits and I had the Philly steak omelet. Shrimp + grits were seasoned perfectly tho my omelet was a tad in the salty side - most likely from the cheese and the home fries were just a tad over seasoned with old bay - but nothing ketchup couldn't fix. Only instance of this in close to a dozen visits there.

This place is my new go-to breakfast spot. The food is 10/10. It had good flavor and the menu has plenty of options even lunch. The ambiance is nice, almost like a modern diner type of atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Nothing like over cooked poached eggs, cold potatoes, and the worst quality corned beef hash I've ever had. On a side note some of the wait staff is horrible, they refused to let an elderly couple sit at a both near the door that was just cleaned and saI'd it was for wait staff, yet 5min later they sat another family sit in the same booth... like wow.

8/7/23 11:54am They only had two wait staff working so there was a little wait. Understood. The waitress was pleasant. I ordered veggie omelette minus the tomatoes, home fries w/onions and toast. Sweet tea to drink. The atmosphere is family style. Very bright and cheerful upon walking in. The omelette is very good. As are the potatoes. Excellent! The sweet tea was even good! All around a good experience. I will definitely eat here again.

I wanted to try somewhere new for my birthday breakfast last week and landed on this location of Eggs Up Grill. Since it was a Tuesday, there were only a handful of occupied booths, so we were seated right away. I overheard another patron telling our server that her birthday had been on Sunday and was confused why she mentioned that until I checked Eggs Up's website and noticed they have a birthday reward program offering a free breakfast. I was signing up as she came over, and she agreed to let me have the promo even though it didn't send me an email, which was super sweet. I imagine there's usually some sort of waiting period for the email. I ordered the strawberry lemonade spritzer with a Greek omelet and fruit as my side with sourdough toast. I also added an extra side of bacon, and thank goodness I did -- it was perfectly crispy and so dang good! Everything else was tasty also. Service was friendly, the meal was satiating, and the space was inviting. I would definitely go back sometime.

Okay, it's a chain. GET OVER IT. There is a difference between a Mc-chain that is formulaic and focused on table turnover vs a chain that is still small-school minded as if it is a stand alone. I think Eggs Up is in that sweet spot where they have refined their corporate menu without losing the mom and pop service approach. We were very happy with our meal. First, the set up. This location is in a strip mall corner spot. Parking is obviously going to be easy. We got there on a Saturday at about 11 (it is open I think from 6 to 2) and were immediately seated. Maybe a dozen 4 tops pulled into various configs plus a bartop area seating maybe 6. I ordered the founder's hash and eggs. I think you can learn a lot about a breakfast place by how they treat corned beef hash. If it's straight from food supplier Sysco or even Hormel canned stuff, the rest is going to reflect that approach to the customer experience. Eggs Up relies on its "founder's recipe" for hash. What that ended up being was a VERY well seasoned well considered meat offering that was actually made from what tasted like real corned beef. Like NYC style corned beef, with spices. I was very impressed with the flavor. Not as impressed with the hash portion size. See my pictures. Maybe I expect too much, but this is a small portion of hash compared to other breakfast places. Still, the eggs were cooked perfectly and the grits tasted like they were made on site rather than instant. Notably, the grits were not over-salted which is a real plus. My partner had a biscuit with a fried chicken pattie, cheese, egg, bacon, and a nice pepper jelly. I'd know the name of this offering if the store's website actually displayed the current menu. Her overall meal was great tasting, though the biscuit itself did not hold up to its contents and the thing quickly turned into a knife and fork affair. She also had the grits, which were again great. Coffee was good, service was excellent. We are adding it to the rotation, despite a few rough edges.

The food was excellent. I can only say that my preference for home fries is for them to be slightly crunchy. The portions of breakfast meats seemed a little large by comparison with other breakfast venues, not complaining just an observation. Staff was friendly and efficient, service was great. As good of an experience as I had this morning, I'm a little shocked the place isn't packed constantly.

4 stars for potential, 3 stars for today's experience. The menu has a big selection at great prices, although nothing too creative in options. The restaurant is bright, airy, and cute. The server was friendly. We ordered and got our drinks pretty quickly. Coffee is weak, but okay. The food took a while. When it came out, I could immediately see the bacon and sausage were so over cooked and dry that they were almost inedible; the plate probably sat under the lamp. We pointed it out and the server offered to replace those. Unfortunately, it took 15-20 min for fresh ones to come out. My husband ate the egg and biscuit with gravy, waiting for the rest. Given how long it took, they should have just made a fresh plate. The fresh bacon and sausage were MUCH better. My blt bomb sandwich was very good and the chicken on the chicken and waffles was really tasty. The kids menu has a good selection, great value, and my little one was really happy were her meal. They were out of crayons and sounds like they have been for a while. Crayons are pretty inexpensive to replace, if you are going to have activity menus. Despite the mistakes, we would still go again.

I love a good brunch but most of the brunch spots are downtown in Richmond. Glen Allen doesn't have a whole lot or if they do then they are always so booked on the weekends. I was meeting a friend and wanted to find a unique spot and Eggs Up Grill was great! It's in a shopping center that you would probably pass by and not realize this DELICIOUS place is. The inside is pretty cool and the staff is super nice and checks on you. I got Coastal crab cake Benedict with French fries and a mimosa and both were fantastic! We got there at 1:00 and they closed at 2 and we didn't feel pressured, we weren't getting stares and finished right before 2. I would definitely eat here again! HIGHLY recommend!

Everything was perfect. Worth taking the time to rate it and post. Every dish was delicious and great service.

I was thoroughly dissatisfied by this place. The one in Chesterfield was actually good, but this was a disappointment. The eggs Benedict had buttered toast on the bottom instead of an English muffin, the hollandaise was garbage, and the eggs were overcooked and congealed. The coffee was decent and my wife enjoyed the waffle. Service was pretty good and the restaurant was very very slow on a weekday morning.

We were seated immediately and our server was very pleasant. I had a refreshing iced coffee and the yogurt parfait. Don't know that I would call it a parfait since it's served in a bowl but it was yummy. Vanilla yogurt, berries, and honey granola. My son ordered a Good Morning Sunrise - OJ, club soda, and grenadine. It was very tasty. He got the Great American Cheeseburger and was surprise that it was 2 patties. (I hired it helps to read the menu). He said the burger was ok. We'll definitely return next time we visit Richmond

I had seen the Southside location of Eggs Up open a while back, but never made it over. So, was glad to see a West End location open. It's tucked in the side shopping center of the YMCA and Publix, and if you're nostalgic like me in knowing this area, it used to be Rudinos grinder restaurant. Anyway, I had the pleasure of trying this restaurant two days in a row, so definitely a good measure of food and service to review! On my first visit, it was a Sunday after church, probably around 11am or so. There was a short wait maybe 15-20 mins, which isn't bad for Sunday brunch anywhere. The place definitely picked up even more by noon or so with obviously more people waiting for tables. The restaurant is bright and open inside, and honestly has a small waiting area in the front by the doors. I actually opted to wait for my table outside in the car, and just checked back in, as they don't have a text system or buzzers or anything. The parking lot is super close so no biggie, just worth noting. On this initial visit I went traditional-ish, opting for the French toast. I have to admit I was so impressed they treat southern people right by giving sides with french toast!! I was so excited to see that, and hate when restaurants are like french toast, that's all you get. I went for bacon and potatoes, and was pleased with my meal. I have to admit, the potatoes could use some work, as they were seasoned but like the seasoning that doesn't cook into the food or give it flavor, and is just surfaced, if that makes sense. Even though the weekend was busy, the food was served in a reasonable time, and overall we're probably in and out once seated in about an hour. On my second visit, my friend and I dined on a Monday morning before 10am, and were seated immediately. The service was consistent, which was nice to see and experience. I tried the waffle, half waffle actually, based on a recommendation from another friend. The waffle was beautiful and cooked perfectly and was delish! This came with bacon and eggs. I opted to add a side of breakfast potatoes, you know trying to redeem those from Sunday. They were a tad better, but still could use some improvement. As a newer restaurant, I definitely give some grace there, and hope they continue to improve the flavor profile of them soon. Overall, great food, great service, and great location and I highly recommend for a fast casual brunch option!

From the host to the server, we really enjoyed everyone! The restaurant itself was cute! It was small and quant but we are used to that living in the city in DC and some of the best restaurants are like that! Now the drinks and food!! For the drinks we had the rosemary martini and espresso martini. The rosemary was one of my favs!! So light and delicious! The espresso was lacking and I'm an espresso martini snob! It was just so watery and was lacking flavor from the espresso! We ordered two kids pizza and a few apps. The fried green tomato's, spinach/crab dip and fried oysters which was a special! The pizza was delicious but the menu doesn't state that they sprinkle Parmesan on top. Both my kids have an allergy so they had to remake it. Once they remade it with no parm it was DELICIOUS! Def get their pizza! The biggest issue was the fried foods. The crab/spinach dip is a must try! It was good!!! But the fried green tomatoes and oysters were not good bc we can tell they haven't changed their grease in ages. They came out super dark and tasted burnt due to the grease it was cooked in. I worked in a restaurant for ages and can tell! If they had fresh grease it would have made a ton of difference! I'd love to come back and try it again but only if they have improved how they cook their fried food! If you're just looking for pizza and cocktails, this is a good recommendation!

The cucumber sandwiches were on brown bread??? The chicken salad sandwiches were bland and boring and were served on regular thick white bread. The desserts also lacked sparkle. The best were the tiny chocolate mousse tart, and the tiny rectangular fruit tart. The macrons were delicious and probably the best thing about the tea. However, the rectangular fruit tart did not have an expected glaze of apricot jam as is traditional. There were two cakes. One was chocolate, which was very fudgy and moist however, it really could have used a pinch of salt to bring its profile up to delicious. The other cake was a slice of either apple or banana??? Flavor so faint I couldn't tell. Neither of those desserts had frosting so can they really be called cake? There was a sugar cookie but I gave it to My friend so I can't speak to how it was. There was this little chocolate thing that was difficult to ascertain what it was supposed to be. I think it was supposed to represent hot chocolate with peppermint and marshmallows, but despite the peppermint and the tiny marshmallows, it was lackluster. The entire experience could have improved with printed menus with descriptions of what we had. There were two teas offered, the Jefferson and the Richmond blend. I had the Richmond blend. It was so splendid that I ordered some from their supplier. Overall, I was terribly disappointed. The beautiful venue had a slight effect on improving the overall experience.
