The waffle was great, a light crispy shell & soft inside with yummy whipped cream, syrup & strawberries. Also got to try a cute little Swedish pancake with a little Jam On Top which was a nice little appetizer. Eggs "N" Things is a very traditional diner, encompassing all that is good, bad, and traditionally Americana in a sleepy strip mall in Thousand Oaks, CA. I came by bright and early on Sunday morning (they open at 7am on the weekends and 6am during the week) to try their Homemade Since '74" Swedish Pancakes. To my surprise, the place was packed just a half hour after they opened. The diner was abuzz of noise: a large wait staff rushing from table to table topping off coffee, serving up traditional greasy spoon classics, kids jumping in cream colored booths, old white men in Trump 2016 baseball hats talking with other old white men in cowboy hats and boots, the sports loving couple wearing Dodgers gear, among the standouts. The service was brisk: quick, friendly and responsive to my needs. I ordered the set of 5 Swedish pancakes (fresh fruit, whipped cream and powdered sugar version), along with a side of bacon and egg (over hard). After taking my order, the server brought over a single Swedish pancake, complimentary (which is a standard for all patrons). The pancakes were delicious. Light, tasty, served warm. The egg and bacon were also perfect diner food after a long night partying in the Valley (or if you just want to get a jump on the day). The strip mall location offers plenty of parking and the diner itself is quite large, able to handle both large groups in booths or singles at the bar. One of the best breakfast / brunch spot in town. This was my first time at this spot in Thousand Oaks and the food was really well-made and delicious. I like how fast the service is and they servers are very polite and accommodating unlike other restaurants when it is busy. This was a very busy Tuesday at this local eatery and I was astonished how quickly our food arrived. Eggs Benedict and Chicken Enchilada Omelette with O'Brien Potatoes came in 5 minutes complete with wide smiles and courteous service. Eggs Benedict was on point with those lovely runny yolks that aren't always easily found. I like their Pepper Plant hot sauce for my potatoes. Breakfast is always preceded by their "Swedish Pancake" with jam, which I personally do not care for, but the rest of the planet seems quite anxious for. They have a great variety of options from sweet to savory. One of my favorites is the avocado toast with a fried egg which is served with a side of fruit and an arugula salad. I also really enjoy the pulled pork omelette. It has a chili verde salsa, avocado, cheese, tomatoes, and sour cream. It's great! However, I recently switched this visit up, and went with lunch, Beef Dip to be exact. It was awesome! Perfectly prepared, stacked high with fresh meat. Ciabatta bun was slightly dipped in au jus to get soften it up a little. Fries were ordered well-done and cooked precisely as requested. Seriously, you cannot go wrong with Eggs N Things. i typically hit the Thousand Oaks or Camarillo locations, both are excellent. It has always been our go-to place for a reliable breakfast but the last three visits have shown their standards dropping (chairs have fabric hanging down from under the seats, server tells us she's going on a 30 minute break and her replacement is clearly not trained in this job, was told biscuit would be delayed because it was still cooking and when it was delivered it was frozen in the middle, omelette was dry and had no cheese inside, hashbrowns had obviously been on the griddle for awhile and had a funny aftertaste). As an avid weekend-breakfast goer I have to say the food here is so much better than the other breakfast joints (country harvest, side street cafe, etc.). Better as in the ingredients looked fresher and less packaged, had more ingredients at the same price, and the food seemed hot off the grill and not waiting under a heat lamp. Our server was very sweet and made sure we had everything we needed- even offered an alternative hot sauce to the one that was already on the table just in case we had a preference. We were sat at a table in the middle of the room so we had a lot of hustle and bustle around us, but servers and staff did an excellent job at checking in with all tables and making sure we weren't overlooked.
