Meeting a friend for a midweek brunch. Outdoor dining a requirement. Based on Yelp reviews and photos, Eggs and Things would be perfect. No problem getting a table (about a 5 minute wait although there were more than a couple of empty tables on the patio). They have both a breakfast and a lunch menu. Eleven AM, so I decided to go with the breakfast menu. Create your own omelet ($15.50). Eggs with 4 add in ingredients (I went with bacon, sausage, mushrooms and bell peppers). Comes with a side of potatoes or fruit and 2 slices of toast. Overall, the food was pretty good and portion size generous. Fair prices, good service and a really nice patio. I stopped by Eggs N Things while waiting for my daughter at dance practice. Their food was great! I had the chorizo omelet with the hash browns. It was so good. They have tables, booths, and even an area for you to dine at the counter. The service was great! You can tell by how many "regulars" just how great this place is. Beyond that, the service was great. Many of the servers had clearly been working there for years and it just has that family friendly, inviting vibe. There's also a free crepe which I thought was very cool! I've always shied away because of seeing people outside. This time, we waited, about 10-15 minutes, so not bad. It has a noise level of people having spirited conversations and enjoying their breakfast. Service was friendly and attentive. Loved the Swedish Pancakes- buttery good with perfect whipped cream. I love coffee shops and diner-like restaurants, so when I find a good one it can really make my day, but when they miss the mark... it can be a crushing disappointment. This one makes my day whenever I go, and though it is not a standout, it is reliable enough to make it in my rotation. Coffee is very good (and the coffee cups are cool), omelets (egg white) are tasty, the pancakes are solid and the biscuits do not disappoint. I have not been here for lunch, which will be another test, but suffice it to say this is a solid and reliable breakfast place with a very friendly staff. This is one of my go to places for breakfast on weekend s for my wife and I. One of my favorite entrées is the chorizo and eggs. I've also had their omelettes, and pancakes, which are very good too. The staff is always friendly in the atmosphere is Lively. Could get crowded on weekends. Been going to Eggs N Things, first in Simi and then in Thousands Oaks for the better part of 30 years. First the food, their menu is a very broad variety of omelettes, sweets things and staples like a breakfast burrito and lunch sandwiches. They have a few stand out omelettes like the florentine omelette pictured here. It's mushrooms spinach and ham covered in Swiss cheese and hollandaise. It's creamy, melty and delicious. My man loves their cinnamon roll French toast. The food quality is good, everything is fresh and they aren't stingy at all with fillings, toppings, condiments etc. Service is consistently good and timely. You do pay at the counter which can be a little crowded, but they're fast and efficient. The ambiance of the outdoor patio in Thousand Oaks is just so much nicer than you'd expect it to be. Fully covered by a permanent open air structure, it has retractable translucent fabric shades on all four sides so you can block out intense sun or wind, but still enjoy an outdoor feel. Lots of pretty flowers. It's very mild and welcoming. Also going to shout out their mimosas, $10 for a giant glass that's at least 2.5-3 times a standard champagne flute, ordering two mimosas at $20 works out to probably more than you'd normally enjoy in a bottomless situation. And finally, their claim to fame is the complimentary Swedish pancake, a small buttery crepe with delicious jam. I've been known to change my order to a full plate of these after remembering just how good they are. read more

I recently experienced an event that give me pause about ever going back. At check out I presented my debit card for payment. To my surprise there was a 3% charge for using a credit card. Came here for breakfast/brunch and the atmosphere wasn't bad! I felt like I was at a homey IHOP type resturaunt. The staff was so amazing and sweet! I got the veggie omelet with hashbrowns. It wasn't bad, I feel like it was very bland. My omelet was really liquidy, I dont know if they had put a cheese sauce in it or if it was undercooked, but I wasn't able to eat it. This is the second location of eggs N things that we've gone too. We were not disappointed, huge menu very hard to decide. Our server was Vanessa, and I told her what I was interested in and she said get the pork omelette. We waited 15 minutes and got a nice outdoor table in a comfortable atmosphere. Everything on the menu is great. The Swedish Pancakes are light Fluffy crepes with blackberry jam. They were heavenly. I had the pork omelette, and asked that they cover it with chili Verde sauce. It was, hands down, the best omelette I've ever had! Plus our waitress was very kind, patient, helpful, and attentive. The portions are big, the food is great, and the complimentary swedish pancakes are always something to look forward to! They're soft, not too sweet, and the perfect appetizer for breakfast. The french toast was soft but a bit crunchy, which I like and came with added sugar. My only critique is that their coffee is a bit watery. Eggs "N" Things is a very traditional diner, encompassing all that is good, bad, and traditionally Americana in a sleepy strip mall in Thousand Oaks, CA. I came by bright and early on Sunday morning (they open at 7am on the weekends and 6am during the week) to try their Homemade Since '74" Swedish Pancakes. To my surprise, the place was packed just a half hour after they opened. The diner was abuzz of noise: a large wait staff rushing from table to table topping off coffee, serving up traditional greasy spoon classics, kids jumping in cream colored booths, old white men in Trump 2016 baseball hats talking with other old white men in cowboy hats and boots, the sports loving couple wearing Dodgers gear, among the standouts. The service was brisk: quick, friendly and responsive to my needs. I ordered the set of 5 Swedish pancakes (fresh fruit, whipped cream and powdered sugar version), along with a side of bacon and egg (over hard). After taking my order, the server brought over a single Swedish pancake, complimentary (which is a standard for all patrons). The pancakes were delicious. Light, tasty, served warm. The egg and bacon were also perfect diner food after a long night partying in the Valley (or if you just want to get a jump on the day). The strip mall location offers plenty of parking and the diner itself is quite large, able to handle both large groups in booths or singles at the bar.
