I had a great experience,.despite the negative reviews. I came in weekday around 11am and waited for about 20 minutes for table for 4. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I had the egg with portugese sausage and upgraded to banana macadamia nut pancake with whip cream on top.I also had a choice of rice or hash browns. IT was GOOOD! evreyone kept eating my bana nut pancakes... the egg was typical. Coming from a big city, i think the price is very reasonable $12 it comes with the entree and an order of pancake.. I'll take that! read more

To be honest, not really a huge fan of Eggs 'n Things. It was recommended by a friend because they're known for their macadamia pancakes. Unless you love macadamia, I personally thought that it was kind of dry. It comes with 5 large pancakes so it's shareable between 2 or more people. I also thought their menu is pretty basic - it reminds me of Denny's or iHop but Hawaiian version. I got their Portuguese sausage and eggs which was pretty good but probably won't have me coming back for more. read more

Enjoyed our Easter breakfast the Kalua pig Benedict on taro bun was amazing. Service by Jirus was awesome. Definitely be back here again

Looking for an nice breakfast spot? Why not give this place a whirl? I've been to the Ala Moana Eggs n' Things location twice now and I think it's fairly safe to say I've experienced both the super busy time of day and the after breakfast/lunch rush. Both times I was pretty impressed with the service and how generally attentive and friendly the waiters and waitresses were. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with home fries a Plantation Iced Tea. Delicious. And pretty good sized portions too! The second time around, I ordered the coconut waffle. I can't say I was THAT impressed by the waffle, but it was still pretty good. If you're looking for over the top though, order the pancakes. Piled high with whipped cream and fruit, they've definitely have some wow-factor going on. All in all, I'm pretty happy with the food and service. Plus, with my IDcard, I got a 20% discount off my total check. Will I go back? Oh yes. Would I recommend the place to my friends? For sure. read more

Not much of a breakfast kinda gal...*gasp* mostly the only time I actually eat breakfast foods is for dinner. Hahaha. Came here for dinner after work, it might have been late or whatever, but the hostess wasn't very nice, one of the bussers actually seated us. Our waiter was pretty decent, very cheery. Got the omelet special which had Portuguese sausage, mushrooms, onions, and cheese. Waited about half an hour for food, while looking around and noticing all the japanese tourist who came in after us got their pancakes within 15 minutes of sitting (unless pancakes are more easier to make...) I probably chowed my food down in 15 minutes. Overall, its a not bad stop. Maybe I'll be back to try something else, but it's nothing that I would fight all those tourist for. The saving grace is that kamaaina gets you 15% off. read more

Nothing too special, but it's def not bad. There's macadamia nut pancakes and coconut pancakes everywhere in hawaii. These pancakes just literally taste like regular buttermilk pancakes with some nuts / coconut shavings in them. There's many breakfast and brunch joints with the coconut syrups as well. My least favorite was the guava syrup. It's a little too fruity and more on the acidic side, to be paired with the butter milk pancake. They're popular breakfast options are Portuguese sausages and loco moco's. A Hawaiian must, right? I would suggest you taking some time to yelp some mom and pop shops and go there! You can get these staple anywhere and everywhere. I think all Portuguese sausages on this island are about the same and it's going to be cheaper with a more authentic feel. Some suggestions include Candi's diner, rainbow drive-in etc. Parking: there's a parking lot across the street, but I paid 8 dollars for 2 hours, which was the minimum you can purchase -____-. read more

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day! It's even better when the staff really truly makes you feel like it's mom whipping up Sunday morning breakfast for you. I came with my mom, aunt, sister and cousin; there was a 10-15 min wait when we came, it passed quickly though and if you're bored you can check out the Korean market next door. We ordered the ahi steak and eggs (steak medium and Cajun style), the Portuguese sausage omelette, macadamia nut pancakes and a blueberry waffle with macadamia whipped cream. The verdict....YUMMY! I'm not really a sweet breakfast type of person I usually just enjoy my eggs and bacon by the pancakes were delicious. They were soft and fluffy and I just buttered them up and inhaled them in; my cousin loved the house coconut syrup so if you like the sweet, that's all for you. The omelette, my family enjoyed, it was good I'm just not the fan of the Portuguese sausage but I would share that with someone else again. Now for my favorite...the ahi steak, I could have eaten like four portions of it hands down easy, Cajun style gives it a salty kick and when topped with lemon, perfection. Nothing like an amazing meal to start the day, will be back whenever I'm back on vacation here :) read more

We had good customer service! Food was average. Enjoyed my mushroom omelette. Buttermilk pancakes okay. First time to this restaurant. My husband and I shared pancakes and omelette. Great price because we shared the meal! read more

Since this is a popular place with tourists and friends alike, I always hold out hope that they'll have more than one vegan option. Their tofu veggie platter is good, but vegan pancakes (and even coffee) are easy to make! Why offer gluten-free but no vegan pancakes? Edit: Thanks for the response! I still will direct omnivorous visitors of mine away until you have more vegan options, though. I want to be able to have pancakes too. read more

Great favorite. Recently took a mainland guest to show him our local cuisine. Love that pancakes can count as your starch.

Food was great. Service was to be desired. The waiter constantly had to be reminded about our drinks, only brought 2 waters when we had 3 people, and cashed out our table to the wrong person making us wait longer to pay. Honestly it did effect his tip and I hope that in the future he and the other staff can refrain from letting their personal feelings show on their faces as it was very easy to see that they weren't happy with the fact that our 3rd person took a bit longer to come in. read more

I ate at Eggs n Things once before in Waikiki and I thought it was really good and the staff gave such awesome service. So, decided to go to the new location by Ala Moana Center since it just opened. People were outside waiting, so I knew the wait had go be at least 30 min or more. When we got in, no one greeted us, for 2-3 minutes. Then, the manager (I think) greeted us and told us it was gonna be a 35 min wait. He said we could give him our cell # and he would text us when our table was ready. He also told us to go and kill some time at the mall, which was a great idea. The great thing was is that we could text back when they replied if we still needed the table or not. I thought that was cool... Technology nowadays. The service was not that great. The food was okay. It wasn't amazing or anything. Just mediocre, blah. Won't go there again unless I'm desperate. Wasn't worth the wait either. read more

Not sure why this place is so popular. First of the the seating policy really ticked me off and they had me wait and standing there because the other person of my party wasn't there yet. Not acceptable and the host was kind of unfriendly telling me that I can't be seated now even though I told him that my friend would be there in less than 5 minutes. Next time (if there will be a next time) I will tell them it's just a party of one. The food itself was ok. Nothing special, nothing bad. I had the strawberry whipped cream pancakes. Fresh fruit wasn't to be found on this one. It was frozen fruit that was tasting very lush. Out server was good though. Always there on time with refills so that was good. So in overall good service, average food and a really customer unfriendly seating policy. I will probably not return to this place again and go to Wailana of ihop. read more

So I've been here before, and I don't remember this place being like this, today we had to take my 5 year old to the dentist so we happen to be in the area and decided to come here for breakfast...... The wait wasn't too bad, about 15-20 minutes, which really isn't too bad for an early Saturday morning. We were seated at our table and our server Lawrence came by to take our drink orders. My son ordered a hot chocolate with no whipped cream, I ordered a hot chocolate and water, and my husband ordered a ginger ale, water, and hot chocolate no whip.... He goes to get our drinks comes back with our waters, ginger ale, and only two hot chocolates...I told him we needed one more hot chocolate and he stated that he didn't realize we ordered 3, and only thought we had ordered 2 so he said he would be right back with it...I really think he forgot...cause ten minutes go by, and I flagged down a server and asked for the hot chocolate that my husband had ordered...cause I have no idea where Mr. Lawrence went...so this other nice server went to check on it, came back and told us that it should be on its way soon and he apologized for that. Mr. Lawrence brings out the hot chocolate and it has loads of whipped cream and sprinkles..... I thought to myself, maybe he is trying to make up for forgetting, even though hubby didn't want All that extra stuff, ended up scooping it off, (waste of whipped cream) We ordered our breakfast, hubby ordered Hawaiian sweet bread French toast, a Hawaiian delight (papaya), I ordered a egg white omelette with spinach, bacon, mushroom, and mozzarella cheese, kiddo ordered the keiki honu plate which had pancake sausage, and scrambled egg and a side of bacon....did t understand why they couldn't substitute the sausage for a piece of bacon, but no big deal.... Everyone's food comes out except the omelette, that came last... Hubby's French toast did not taste like sweet bread French toast, its was more like cinnamon and all spices overload on bread, it was OK, if you like that sort of thing.... Kiddos plate was good....just had to ask for butter for his pancake... My omellete comes out, and its spinach, chopped bacon, and mushrooms underneath some cheese, with a big blanket of egg white on top, not really the omelette I had pictured...when I went to cut, eggs were kinda still runny... I just ate some of it... Husbands papaya a.k.a. "Hawaiian Delight" was solid frozen....couldn't even scoop the papaya out, so we let it sit to "defrost" was still frozen by the time we were done eating, so we took it home in a to go box. I just happen to ask our server if there papayas are always frozen, and he said no, and I explained that he papaya he had brought out was frozen, he only said oh sorry about that. Lawrence came back, we asked for boxes and check, and a cup for the ginger ale, he said we get that from the front where we pay, and have to pay extra for to go cup......ok So hubby takes check to front, pays, gets cup, comes back, and goes to use the bathroom, so I'm sitting at the table waiting for hubby to return, cause my little one fell asleep....and lawrence brings me a check again... I open it, and I'm like why is he bringing me the check again? We paid already.....so after about ten minutes lawrence comes back again, sees my look of confusion on my face, and asks me if everything was OK, and I'm like, ummmmm we paid already, I'm just waiting for my husband to get out of the bathroom so he can help me carry everything out He was like, oh I didn't realize, I said no worries.... I'm thinking to myself, this place needs better communication, the service could have been a little better, but it was OK.....food wasn't that great, They do give the I.D. Card discount, and I think military discount on Thursdays, I'm good, I'll stick to our other places for going out to breakfast...... read more

Read the negative reviews and wasn't sure I wanted to subject myself to bad, overpriced food and bad service but I wanted to decide for myself. Service-excellent ****from the hostess to the waiters and waitresses. Food-needs improvement/pricey I had the Hawaiian loco moco which was very tasty but my over easy egg came out over medium to hard. I thought that was pretty ironic since the restaurant is called Eggs and things, so I expected my eggs to be cooked to perfection! The pancakes were also very dry! The cooks need to be retrained, especially since breakfast is supposed to be their specialty! read more

Great staff! Amazing food!!!! The wait can be long sometimes but more than worth it!! You can even check-in before you go so the wait there isn't very long. We checked in, walked from hotel, and only waited 2 minutes once we got there!!! We've been here a week and have eaten here multiple times for breakfast!!! read more

I'm pretty sure the owners of this place have chosen not to take advantage of the protection offered and not allowed Yelp to extort money from them in exchange for filtering out negative reviews written by unestablished reviewers. There is a huge discrepancy between the negative reviews and my experience here. The food is fine. The service is fine. I asked to have banana added to my pineapple pancakes. They did it, no prob. My water glass was always full. The eggs were fine. People around me were thoroughly enjoying their meals. Two and a half stars is not an accurate appraisal if Eggs and Things. read more

On the plus side we were seated quickly and the staff was amazing !! I would strongly suggest to ask what they are known for before ordering. I had breakfast there with my Dad at around 8:30 am on a Tuesday. We got a table within 5 minutes. The menu is extensive with lots of variety. However the food was a little disappointing. The table next to us ordered the corned beef hash but when I looked at it, it definitely looked like the canned variety. Nope, won't be ordering that. My Dad and I both ordered omelets. A little pricey at $12.95. The omelets arrived with a sloppy presentation, simply flipped onto the plate with the ingredients on the bottom, ramekin of salsa and either rice, potato or pancakes. We chose potatoes and they were very plain. The breakfast meats for our omelets were under cooked, Portuguese sausage and turkey bacon. They give you enough food so you leave satisfied, but there are better places in town for breakfast. The food needs better presentation and seasoning. read more

If you go really early, there is no line. None of the food items are mind-blowing, but I can see the appeal of tourists from Asia because it is a classic American breakfast joint with good Hawaiian flavor mixed in. I wouldn't go here if I wanted to try new flavors or anything, but if I am craving a classic Hawaiian/American breakfast, Eggs 'n Things is a viable option. read more

Extremely disappointed by this place. They "specialize" in omelettes but the omelette I got was horrible, the eggs tasted like they were from a fast food place and the mushrooms and zucchini were no good. The guava syrup was terrible, didn't take like guava at all. Service was subpar too. When we were done, they didn't ask if I wanted a box for my barely eaten omelette (which I didn't anyway cause it was terrible) and didn't ask how we liked anything. Don't waste your money here, there are much better places for breakfast in Honolulu. read more

Eggs 'n Things Ala Moana - Love this place... - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Honolulu, Hawaii

Food is very good. It is a laidback atmosphere. Service was quick. Good prices. Not fancy.

My favorite breakfast place! If you come on the weekends in the morning expect a long ish wait. There's a Nijiya market nearby to pass the time. The star is most definitely the pancakes. They're kind of heavy but very fluffy and they have three different types of syrup to choose from. Service is consistently okay and prices fair. read more

When we walked in, we were immediately greeted with an Aloha by the friendly staff. I love coming here for eggs Benedict, and their omelettes are packed with fillings. They have a nice and inexpensive kid's menu. Eddie was our server twice and he gives the best service with a sense of humor. It is always clean and doesn't take too long to get food, especially around 5pm. The kalbi and eggs meal is also delicious, very juicy meat. All around goodness! read more

Compare to all the other Eggs N Things I've tried in Oahu, my favorite is this one in Piikoi street. The reason is all the other Eggs N Things have issue about finding good parking. At least this Eggs N Things have a decent size parking lot to park at. Food itself excellent as always. My favorite is the fried rice one where they place the sunny side up egg on top of the nest of fried rice. Nicely decorated & also good taste. Second fav. is the eggs & steak. Some recommendation: also include the egg burger; y'know sausage patty with a scrambled egg. Overall good restaurant, definitely a perfect 5/5 from me & will definitely have more future visits from me too. Great job Eggs N Things at Piikoi. read more

I love this place for breakfast! It can get busy fast but waiting moves pretty quickly. Almost always have to wait 5-10 minutes. Great food good vibes! Great selection to choose from 1 of the biggest breakfast menus. Different specials everyday on board. I try to mix up what I get so this time I got the crab cake Benedict. Great choice Benedict lovers, don't miss out! I love this Diner atmosphere. Definitely worth a short wait. read more

My husband and I wanted to try a new place so we decided on Eggs N Things. We went on a weekday morning around 10. The parking seemed full but the restaurant itself wasn't too full. We were seated fairly fast. The reason for the 2 stars is the food. I ordered eggs Florentine w homefries. The homefries tastes like they were previously frozen and then deep fried. The actually eggs Florentine were cold when they came out and the bread they were on was soggy. I also had a iced cappuccino & that tasted bitter. I can't even remember what my husband ordered but he was not satisfied with his meal either. The service was OK. read more

My boyfriend and I came here because I wanted to try the Gudetama menu. Not the mention this was my first time at Eggs 'n Things ever! We also noticed that their utensils are magnetic and stick to each other. Weird lol. WAIT TIME: We went on a Saturday around 12pm and ended up waiting almost 45 minutes to be seated, even with just the two of us. So go after the lunch rush if you don't want to be waiting that long! FOOD: I ordered the Sleepy Menu off the Gudetama menu ($15), but $3 gets donated to the Kumamoto Earthquake Relief Fund. Awesome! The Sleepy Menu differs from the Lazy Menu. Sleepy one comes with one pancake with Gudetama drawn on top with lemon frosting, a MOUNTAIN of whipped cream on the side, and thin slices of strawberries. It was very sweet, but the hint of lemon and the tartness of the strawberries balanced it out. It also came with a loco moco, which was my favorite part. I like that it came with two slices of crispy bacon as Gudetama's "blanket." I got my egg sunny side up, and the hamburger and gravy were so flavorful and almost had a slight sweetness to it. You also get either hot chocolate or hot coffee; I chose chocolate. It was warm, not hot, when it arrived so I didn't have to worry about burning myself, but it got cold really quickly. It was room temperature not even half way through our meal. There was also an incredibly thick layer of whipped cream on top, which I wasn't a huge fan of, but just mix it around in the chocolate and you're good. My boyfriend ordered his own plate of portuguese sausage, eggs, and home fried potatoes (can't go wrong with that). Since we ordered off the Gudetama menu, they gave us a sticker of Gudetama and a coupon to use for 40% off at Sanrio stores. SERVICE: The host was a young male. He was very kind and spoke Japanese too (I'm jealous!). Our server was also very nice. A little soft spoken, however. It was interesting to see them take orders on their phone too instead of pen and paper. PARKING: There is a parking lot but it's shared with many other businesses, so it can get crowded. An alternative is to park at Ala Moana and walk over. read more

Great service in terms of attention but I thought the food took long to come out and they were not that busy. Make a reservation a head of time through Yelp. The food was very good. We had Loco Moco for the first time in Hawaii and we thought was pretty good. We also had the pineapple pancakes and we thought they were a little too bready and dry. One last thing is that I wished they came more often to fill up my coffee cup. read more

The service was just plain weird. The guy who took our order was ok, but the guy who brought the food said, "Strap on your feed bags" when he set the plates down, which was a turn off, then he made some comment about how he had "Blinded me with his beauty" which was certainly not the case. Then the busboy just randomly launched into a 5 minute monologue about movies, the Interview (James Franco and Seth Rogan) specifically. He would NOT shut up. It was bizarre and awkward. On top of it all, the food just wasn't good. About what you'd expect at Denny's or IHOP. If you want really good pancakes, go around the corner to the Original Pancake House read more

My dad and I came here for a little food before heading to north shore. The cafe a really cute, kinda confusing at first. The host station is downstairs but the seating is up. We had a short wait on a Monday morning. Got sat at a table by the screen window facing the street. It's was pretty crammed but ok for the two of us. We decided to share the daily special the corned beef hash and a flight of pancakes. They the told us though you can only order the flight of pancakes/pancake sampler in the afternoon or with one of their "specials". Kinda peved me with that. So we just wound up ordering the macadamia nut pancakes. The corned beef portion was a little smaller than I was hoping but was good to hold us over along with the pancakes. The pancakes were a little dry but smothered in their amazing coconut syrup was to die for. I will definitely be back. read more

Needed a place to grab something after Drs appointment.. Ans since it was nearby seemed the logical choice... Gotta say not too impressed with the food. Service was good though. They were friendly and helpful enough even when it was busy. I had the special, which is Hawaiian omelette. Which pretty much is Kalua pig, spinach and onion.. Not too impressed. The onion and spinach wasn't even fully cooked and there wasn't much flavor to it. Other than the the pieces of Kalua pig they had. So it was blah.. The bf had crab cakes eggs Benedict which the highlight was the home fries even though it was probably just seasoned simply. The crab cakes was the typical battered and fried.. Again not the bestest but if you want something simple and quick. Then you're in the right place. read more

I was very excited to experience an Eggs 'n Things breakfast and was disappointed by the Spinach, Bacon and Cheese. The bacon tasted like it came out of a bag of precooked (real) Bacon Bits that you sprinkle on your salad. The spinach was fresh and the cheese good but that bacon left an unpleasant taste. The pancake was good and the different syrups great. Would I return? Probably not unless someone suggested something better on their menu. One positive is the staff, friendly and the service was great. read more
