I'm not a breakfast person per se but on this particular day my family was very hungry and I had heard good things about this restaurant so I said why not! You can place your name on the waitlist since they use Yelp for there waiting list it was convenient and we really only waited less than 20 min ! The servers were polite and helpful ! Our whole family loves the breakfasts at Egg 'n Things! Our favorites are the breakfast burrito/wrap with bacon and cheddar. It's filled with great ingredients and I love that the breakfast potatoes are inside. The omelet was super tasty and you can't go wrong with the pancakes and waffles. My son doesn't like whipped cream (!?!) but when we order it for ourselves, the whipped cream is piled so high up you can barely see the food under. Another favorite is the French toast! The wait can be long, but on Yelp you can join the line from home and time it so that you don't have to wait long at the restaurant. This location is on Piikoi right next to Ala Moana mall and has its own parking lot. The inside is old diner style and I love the historic photos that are on the walls. It looks like this is the only restaurant left behind Ala Moana. When we arrived there, it wasn't that busy and had a lot of parking. We had a server who was serving us and didn't seem to care what we were ordering. After that, I looked on the side and found out that if you use your credit card there will be a surcharge. My biggest recommendation is to be cash when eating here. The food itself was ok. I wasn't happy with my omelet. They didn't put enough cheese inside there. We settled on the Kalbi & eggs with kimchi plate. We ordered a side of fried rice and pancakes with the plate. Everything was delicious and the Kalbi was boneless and savory. The interior is well lit and spacious. Bathrooms are also available here. A cute nook at the front of the restaurant has a display of memorabilia and food items to purchase and take home. Booths were clean and so were the bathrooms - so important when you have young kids! The food was delicious and service was great! Ordered the two egg plate with one side of meat (4 pork sausage links) and this came with either a side of pancake stacks (huge 3 pancakes) or you can order it with side of rice or potatoes. I had the kids share this (and ordered an additional 4 pork sausage links) - it was enough for two adults! We also order one whole milk split in two cups - that was plenty for the kids to share! I ordered the three egg omelet with spinach, mushroom, and bacon with cheese omelet with an upgraded side of fried rice - omg, it was really good and filling! I was starving, so this combo was perfect for me! With a mug of hot brewed coffee (they also prepared a new one to-go!). Since my daughter had to use the restroom and my son wanted to continue eating, our server watched over him during that short period and I was so thankful! You eat then pay up front at the cashier (3% fee if you use a credit card). There's a little gift shop area in the front corner if you want to purchase something as tourist. This was THE brunch spot that started my love and search for brunch spots and more specifically egg benedicts. I am usually not the type to eat 'early' in the morning so visiting this spot was out of the ordinary for me. I just happened to be up very early one morning and needed a pick me up around noon. We came by and had to wait for a while for a seat, as expected as it is a popular location. The waiter we had was attentive and patient, as it took me a while to decide on what to order since I do not get brunch often. I finally decided on the crab cake eggs benedict and it was delicious. It (for some reason) blew my mind as it was the first time I've had it. The breakfast potatoes were so flavorful and delicious. Reflecting back on it now, the benedict was nothing special, the patty is likely premade of limitation crab which is as expected per the affordable price. It could also be saucier. At the time though, it was the perfect pick me up. One of my favorite places for Brunch in Oahu. It was the first time we tried this location. As always, the queue is a bit long. We waited around 30 min. Once seated the service was pretty fast and efficient. I ordered the Hawaiian açaí bowl: it was really good, with a lot of fruits and some crunch thanks to the granola. My husband chose the loco moco. It was good and slightly different from the regular one but worth a try. A must have : the pancakes. I actually hit this restaurant at the perfect time after dropping off Ms Sofie for her bath. No one waiting so I didn't stop at the IPad to put my name in or read the extra fee charge notice on the door. Oh well, live and learn. After looking at the menu options and looking around at the plates of the diners around me I decided on the strawberry crepes with a side order of link sausage. Water was served so I didn't order a beverage which started with coffee at $4.00...I actually leaned over to the couple a foot away and asked how the coffee was and got a thumbs down. Service is pretty fast, order takers have a small handheld device with which they place your order with the kitchen. My crepes were just okay, a little oily instead of a buttery flavor. There were strawberries on top and inside with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. The strawberries were underripe and slightly bitter. Given my check I went to the cashier to pay and asked about the 3% service fee and was told all restaurants in Hawaii add this. Ha ha I live here and know that's not true so she pointed to the sign on the door advising the added charge. Okay fair enough I got the 5% kamaaina discount but then was charged another 3% fee for using a credit card. We've always passed this Eggs n things but never stopped to eat here...until now! We waited just a few minutes after checking in. We were ono for pancakes, so got the side order with an omelet and the fried rice plate with eggs over medium. I regret not taking a picture of both egg plates...they were so perfect! Omelet was delicious, egg perfectly cooked through with no brown on the outside. My over medium, no brown on my whites and yolk just right on the runny! The surplus of negative signage should have tipped us off from adding 3% for credit cards to no black coffee refills. This place nickels and dimes and their prices are already so high (yes, we're locals). If you're going to charge a high amount then the food needs to be good, it wasn't. Eggs Benedict the breading wasn't even toasted and there was hardly any hollandaise, the omelette was bland and used large slices (think hamburger style) tomatoes which ate weird. I swear the omelette still had some cleaning product in the pan too. We needed a share plate and no one ever came to check on us after receiving the food. We ended up having to go find a plate for ourselves. We get that living Maui is pricey but the food really needs to be better and management is the glue making the experience sour for patrons. read more

We usually love eggs n things! Even though there is usually a wait, the line goes by pretty quickly and we've joined the Yelp Waitlist before so we could get seated closer to when we arrived. The parking lot is not huge but there are some spots available and it is located right next to Ala Moana so there is the option to park in the mall parking lot. Inside, the space is bright and friendly. We are usually served quickly and our regular order is the whipped strawberry pancakes and eggs Portuguese sausage and rice. We enjoy the sweet and salty combo of both -- and they are both super good. The pancakes are super filling and tasty, especially if you put some of the syrup on. We enjoy the coconut syrup with it. The Portuguese sausage plate is a staple of ours and always very good. However, we recently went and for our takeout order, we noticed that they forgot to put the rice. I hadn't been in this establishment in years...like 7 years! However, I've come twice. This place is always packed. If you want to beat the crowd, 7:30-8:00 is best. If it's filled already, 10-15 minute wait versus 30-45 minutes. I'm a stickler for omelettes...from a simple to filled almighty huge ones. I've gone other establishments, but not satisfied fully because they fill their own, but no real choice of creating my own without adding $1-$3 to my bill. I like this place, friendly and caring staff, very attentive. They have a bigger omelette selection which I selected the vege omelette (spinach, zucchini, mushrooms, Pepper Jack cheese)...rice or breakfast potatoes. I selected potatoes. A little ketchup really add flavor, no salt needed. The vegetables has a soft chew...adding texture, flavors are spot on. There's a crunch to the potatoes and better than eating rice. Without a lot of hearty breakfast options downtown, this place is a great location across from the beach with a huge variety on the menu. Beautiful views out the large front windows. Prices are average for the location, but the $4 coffee was a bit wild to me and I wouldn't order again. I've been twice - the first time at opening was a fantastic experience. This most recent time we went an hour after opening and waited for 35 minutes to be seated, when we were quoted 20 minutes. Once seated, service was really quick. Average (3/5) for me but could be great (4/5) for the right person. Typical breakfast diner feel but good for the price. My initial impression is this is a place that uses a lot of sugar and fats in their cooking. I would need to explore more of their dishes before i could consider making a recommendation. Service (4/5): I went quite early so there were minimal people there. Overall the service was great, food came out quick, and multiple different hosts asked how i was doing throughout. My one complaint (which for me really bugged me) was that i had to ask for water (when i ordered). Then did not get water until my food came (with the coffee arriving before both). Cappuccino (3/5): sweet, tasted like chocolate milk, minimal coffee flavor (albeit not absent). Wrap (with bacon and pepperjack) (3/5): Oily (from butter) where it was dripping out of the burrito. The butter masked a lot of the individual flavors of the burrito (green onions, pepper jack, and bacon). If they are going to use a lot of butter I wish they would use an onion with a stronger flavor profile (rather than green onion). The ingredients within the burrito were well cooked however, and not dry. The toast on the outside was nice and added texture. The salsa had little spice but was cold which was a nice contrast with the hot burrito. Saying this, it was a decent price and it filled me up. read more
