This is my second time dining at this place and I've enjoyed the food I've tried so far! During my first visit, I tried their Prosciutto & Avocado toast the first time, then the Pork Belly Bowl the second time! The tapatio sauce is great in the pork belly bowl if you want some little heat in it. I really enjoy their iced coffee that I ended ordering a second glass of the Bebbeh Girl iced coffee. I haven't tried the others yet but I will come back again to try something new. The ambiance here is a vibe! Very friendly and a nice environment to eat in. The staff is friendly and attentive as well!
Tried this place for the first time on a weekday. I arrived at 9:15 am ahead of my guests. There was no wait, and they let me be seated. The place was filled with mostly locals. However, a few tourists seemed to find their way to the restaurant. The service and food are great. They have a wide variety of your normal breakfast items, but they have a secret menu item for the day and a lot of variations on coffees, teas, and menu items. This place is great for breakfast or brunch. The pork belly Benedict is amazing. My guests had omelette. Everything is freshly prepared. There is plenty of free parking. However, access is slightly difficult with the construction for the rail on Dillingham Blvd. I highly recommend this place.
It's been years since I've been to Humpty Dumpty's Cafe and I'm pretty sure it will be many years before I return again. On my most recent visit, the food was not good at all. I got the pork belly bowl, with extra pork, and a boom boom chicken. First, the pork belly bowl did not appeal to my belly. It was greasy AF and the pork had way more fat than I remember. The meat was weird--it reminded me of beef stew beef when it's been overcooked. It becomes strangely soft to where it is no longer desirable to eat. This phenomenon is something you need to experience to understand. Kind of like picking up a cat by its tail. I absolutely do not condone picking up a cat by its tail, even for educational purposes. Second, the boom boom chicken was overcooked. It didn't look burnt on the outside, but the bird meat was really tough like it was in the fryer for too long (or too many times). Sadly, I didn't finish either item and just put them in the fridge to be forgotten about until the next fridge cleaning/purge. It's too bad, when I first visited this place long ago, the food was so good. Not sure what happened to cause the fall from greatness.
Went to Egghead Cafe with my Sis to start our day. This place is a treasure in Kalihi. We ordered the Chorizo Omelette and Pork Belly Benedict, and a single classic French toast to share. So delicious! This place serves elevated local favorites. Local touches mixed with modern ambiance. The service is friendly and attentive.
As always, great service, great food! I came here after a hike and since it was a weekday, I was able to try one of the weekday-only items, the birria burrito. OMG it's my new favorite. It comes with a small side of hot honey dipping sauce and a small side of birria to dip your burrito in, and it is amazing. I split this with my husband and he got the chorizo burrito, which was good, but honestly, I wish I had ended on my half of the birria burrito because it was so good. I got a Vietnamese coffee with tiramisu cream on top (+$1.75) and it was delicious--the bitterness of the coffee contrasts perfectly with the tiramisu foam on top. Love it. Perfect place to come for breakfast or brunch.
What a find. Egghead is sooo good. I tried the pork belly bowl and boom boom chicken and highly recommend them. Staff is so friendly and made great recommendations for peanut butter french toast for the kids. The inside is super cool and is connected to a coffee shop. I highly recommend going here.
Such a jewel of a restaurant in Hawaii. Has the best breakfast in town with ample of sitting. The place screams local with a bit of elevation in ambiance. The people are friendly and attentive. I highly recommend to couples and family!!
This is a great post workout breakfast spot! If you're ever craving eggs and meat and you're in Kalihi, this is the place to go. Very attentive staff and the food is always delicious and filling. Parking is pretty much standard strip mall parking. Highly recommend.
Second visit, to Egghead Cafe. Anytime the name alone has me interested in patronizing the eatery the owner(s) are doing something right. I walked in and requested an Iced Yin Yang. I think the Yin is the feminine and the Yang is the masculine - sorry, I'm a local Japanese - so I got it Yang ( 50% sweet ) style. The beverage is 50% espresso and 50% milk tea and completely awesome. Also, got an Oreo Cream Cheese Scone for takeaway. I prefer a fluffier, thinner scone, but thicc is also fine. It was sweet and dense,drier but I don't mind it on the dry side. Service was very good. I think their bevvies are worth trying...i did have a Cali Cali Benedict - which named Cali...I should've known...fusion, deconstructed Eggs Benedict ( Arnold ).
Egghead Cafe in Kalihi??? Since when??? I swear Egghead Cafe used to be on Queen Street in the Kaka'ako neighborhood, but I didn't know that the original location on Queen Street had shut down and moved over to the Kapalama Shopping Center in Kalihi. I had to go back to my old reviews and did a quick search, sure enough, I found my Egghead review I wrote back in 2016. First of all..........Much MAHALO to all my Yelp buddies for helping me get my breakfast badge back in 2016, as I got it here at the original Egghead Cafe when it was located on Queen Street. A lot has changed since I last went to Egghead Cafe, the menu appears to have gotten bigger with more menu offerings. The decor of the Kalihi location is much nicer, and the food was definitely moa' bettah! Recently, my friend had texted me, as she wanted to check out Egghead Cafe. Upon seeing her text, to be honest, I wasn't too enthusiastic about going to Egghead Cafe as I remembered my last foodie experience at the original Egghead Cafe was so-so, but a lot of time has passed since I last dined here and it's good to get reacquainted with Egghead Cafe, I am so happy I came back here for breakfast, as the food was wonderful, and the service was outstanding! We ordered the following items - 1. Green Onion Pancake ($11.00) - crepe-like savory pancake, basil, egg, sweet chili & garlic shoyu, green onion. Added bacon for an additional ($4.00) 2. Cheesy Eggs ($16.00) - 3 soft scrambled eggs, country bread, and choice of (choose one) - cheddar or pepper jack cheese. To wash down our breakfast grindages I got the house brew coffee, and my friend opted for the matcha honey latte. Overall, it was a wonderful breakfast experience! Service was on-point, and I would be more than happy to come back here again to try other breakfast offerings. Parking here was easy, as there is lots of parking at the Kapalama Shopping Center, but the shopping complex is shared with other businesses, so depending on when you come here, your parking experience may vary.
This breakfast and lunch place been always on my Radar. Egghead Cafe located in the Kapalama shopping center . It's always crowded when I pass by so finally had time today picked up my sister and brother in law and we went for breakfast. Needed to sign in online although it was fast within 5 mins we got a table . I had their eggs Benedict which was ok with some waffle fries . My sister had their pancakes it was a little heavy not the usual light and fluffy . My brother in law had the California omelette minus the bell peppers he said it was ok too. It's a little more trendy and healthy place for breakfast w/green salad . Just give me eggs, Portuguese, spam , or Vienna sausage I'll be a happy camper . If you're looking for that type of breakfast this place is not for you . Support local
Came here per my wife's request. Been a while since we last came here. The food did not disappoint. Tried their recently added menu items. The service was great. The waitress was very attentive always topping off our water. The ambience was casual with a mix of tourists and locals alike. Will be back!
Egghead Cafe is a robust, noisy , but satisfying breakfast spot for locals and visitors alike. Yelp buddies Gail U. and Donna O. and I came here today for breakfast and chit chat! The noise level here is high so we needed to use our loud voice. Our order of Boom Boom Chicken, Peanut Butter toast and Holy Cow Benedict was a success. We all enjoyed our dishes. The chicken was on the crispy side (like karaage style), and the inside meat was tender. The sauces are okay. You will be charged for more than one choice of sauce. The Peanut Butter toast is deep fried and surprisingly not too oily. Just like a chunky style peanut butter sandwich that is fried. The Holy Cow Benedict looked savory and spicy. I did not try this dish. Service was fast and efficient. Our server Mateya answered all our questions and provided suggestions. The Latte coffee is smooth and easy to drink. We received a lucky red envelope during Egghead Cafe CNY celebration. We won a $10 off our next visit. Unisex bathrooms are located in the restaurant. One on each side of the restaurant. Free parking. Checks may only be separated by two. You can win nail stickers if you post on Instagram. Enjoy.

I've been to this restaurant once before to dine in, but this time I went to take out. There are two entrances: the door on the right is to the cafe/takeout area and the door on the left is to the restaurant. Upon entry, you're greeted by the employees. There is seating on the cafe side, a big table located to the back of the area and smaller, round tables towards the front. There is a clear case that hold some pastries. You order at the counter and pick up drink in the same area. I order most of the food based on employee recommendations. Lol. I was indecisive! I must say every thing was amazing! I did order some food (pork bao and cinnamon French toast) for my friends, but didn't get pictures of it. The order was up pretty quickly and I was outta there! There was no line in the takeout area, but about three parties waiting for the restaurant side. If you haven't gone, the pancakes are large AND fluffy! So good! The shrimp and bacon omelette was also very tasty- the hollandaise sauce- perfection and the sweet potato fries... paired well. The passion fruit tea was soooooo delicious! I'll definitely go back there again and you should try it if you're ever in the area. read more

Went on a Tuesday morning and there was no wait! It's been at least a year since the last time I ate here and the menu is more extensive than before. They even had holiday themed lattes! Their seating looks a little different too but it's still cozy and welcoming. This time I tried the Chorizo breakfast burrito and we got the Boom Boom chicken plate. Wow wow wow! I always order Crab Benedict whenever it is on the menu and this is probably the best one I've ever had!! There were large chunks of blue crab, which tasted very sweet. I finally found my favorite breakfast & brunch place! Both of food and service are beyond my expectations and literally surprised me! We tried their signature dishes, pork belly bowl, boom boom chicken, and green onion pancake! None of them will disappoint you! I love Taiwanese foods and first bite of pork belly reminded me of my trip to Taiwan! Chicken is crispy and good amount of portion! So many drink options as well. We ordered strawberry smoothie and hazelnut latte, both are so good! I want to try their seasonal special drinks! I took my 2 years old daughter, and all the setups for kids are better than any other places I've been to. High chair, kids plate and utensils, plastic cup with lid and straw, drawing pad, and stickers! I will definitely take my friends and family here next time. French Bread Benedict. It doesn't sound appealing. It doesn't sound right. But you'll never know if you don't try, right? Egghead Cafe might be the only breakfast restaurant to serve Eggs Benedict with French bread instead of the usual English muffin, and it works! This place is located in the Kapalama Shopping Center along with Wingstop, Elvin's Bakery, and etc. There's a decent amount of parking. Just getting here is rough and tumble. The inside is not very big and a little tight, so it can get busy. Good thing is you can join a waitlist online and check your position in line and wait time. Started with the Pork Belly Benedict. The pork belly was similar to the Chinese Style Braised Pork Belly. The taste was fine. I just found the meat to be tough, chewy, and stringy, and the fat was not rendered enough. The eggs were a little over and did not have a runny yolk. Hollandaise sauce was on the light side or just needed more sauce. The star of this was the French bread. Toasty, buttery, tasty with a very nice crispy on both sides, and a soft inside. It comes with a mixed green salad as well. OK. The Crab Omelette was good--or should I say, half of it was good. You have a choice of country bread, toast, or white rice, and mixed green salad. I started to eat from the left side and it was packed with crab. Then it became less and less till the 2nd half of the omelette basically had no crab. The Romesco sauce really saved the omelette as the egg and crab was under seasoned, and even more so with the crab meat clumped together. The meat also had a slight taste that it wasn't thawed long enough. Overall, everything was okay. French bread and the romesco sauce were excellent. Just a lot of small issues with everything else that could've been/could be better the next time around. Service was solid. Super friendly and attentive servers. I don't feel there are too many different options to choose from for a breakfast place. It's essentially omelette, eggs, benedict with xxx meat and sandwiches for savory items. The prices defintely seem to be on the high side in comparison to other breakfast places and what's being offered. I'm getting the tourist pricing feel! Oh well. read more

Great place for brunch. We came by on Saturday noon and got seated immediately. Service was prompt and friendly. Drinks are great: excellent cappuccino and good quality coffee. We ordered shrimp and bacon omelette and mixed flavors pancakes, both were very good quality and delicious. Each of three pancakes had different toppings, which was a nice way to add variety. Found this cute place on our way back to the airport! Absolutely will visit again when we come back to the island! Ordered banana pancakes and asked the to add Mac Nuts (macadamia nuts) so delicious! Overall good experience! Food was good, service was great, nice and lively ambiance. I love how they can do smaller portion on a lot of items for half the price, making it easier to sample more items off the menu! Husband and I came here for brunch on a Sunday, and we ordered couple items to try for our first time. Egg benny is my jam, and I just always end up judging a new spot by their egg benny... so we got their real crab egg benny, chocolate banana French toast (small), real crab omelette and a crème brûlée latte. The benny eggs were cooked perfectly. The crab cake was made of real crab but something about the taste and the texture being a little off. Not sure what that was. What I didn't like was the bread at the bottom. I'm not a fan of sourdough. And the bread wasn't incorporated into the whole dish. It's like eggs with sauce and crab cake sitting on top of 3 pieces of French sourdough bread. I don't know. It's just a little strange to me. I ended up eating everything on the plate except the bread. The French toast was thoroughly enjoyed by my husband who always has a sweet tooth for breakfast. But strangely he also ordered the real crab omelette. I think he ordered that for me perhaps because I mentioned I wanted to try it too. :-P so I did try it, and I gotta say it tasted pretty good. (I normally don't order omelette coz I can make a pretty good one myself at home.) I liked the cheese they put on top! Also loved their criss cut fries. So good. (Extra $3.50) The chocolate banana French toast thing was devoured in less than 5 mins. It's savory and sweet at the same time. Hubby said he should've ordered the full portion haha! Their Vietnamese coffee was a bit too sweet and just didn't taste right. Not a fan. Finally, the item I enjoyed the most was actually the tiramisu latte. I normally don't drink coffee, but I just felt like getting one that day, and this one that I tried was goooood. Well-balanced flavor with tiramisu that I could taste. Service was great. Very friendly server and she also offered as pepper, hot sauce, etc. normally I always have to flag someone down for it. The value was meh. We ended up spending $100 for 2 people for breakfast and nothing I had was extraordinary. Don't get me wrong, it tasted good, but I'm just not sure if it's worth dropping $50 pp for it b There's a waitlist you can join by scanning the QR code at the door. Plenty of parking in the lot - same lot as ahi & vegetables in kalihi. Is it worth the wait? It depends who you ask! Our wait was 35 minute long for 2 people. This is our 2nd time here! It's that good that we came back when I returned from my vacation. Yup, the first time was about 5 weeks ago before we flew out. I came across this place with the help of Yelp. The road work on Dillingham that's been ongoing since 3, 4 or maybe even 5 years ago is not going to stop us from coming back here. It's a small, cute cafe. As we walked in, we were greeted with the same person who sat us the last time, Jay. Only this time, we were seated by another staff, Tasha. We came back a second time to eat the same thing we had the first time. Yup, it's that good that we got seconds within 5 weeks! It would have been soon but again, we were out of the county. He has Favorite Brekky with 2 scrambled eggs, ground chorizo over white rice. This is bomb!!! A must have if you're coming here! In fact, I don't know any other breakfast place that serves chorizo! He got the classic buttermilk pancakes on the side. For his drink, he got Blended Macadamia Nut. He enjoyed it so much that he ordered the same thing! For me, I got the Favorite Brekky with 2 crispy bacon. And I got for my drink, Lavender Honey Latte. This is so yummm!!! I can taste and smell the lavender. The other best past about this place are the people! Jay was our server the first time, and he remembered us when we walked in! Impressive!!! This tells me he values his customers! Awesome job! He was friendly then, and he's very much friendlier! Our waitress this time is Tasha, and she serviced with a friendly smile! She's attentive too! We got to meet another person, Kevin. He's super nice and lets me take 1, 2 or 3 stickers ;) I can't say it enough. I highly recommend this cafe for it's yummy breakfast meal and the people who works here! We started off with an affogato + matcha affogato! Both delicious! The matcha was more on the earthy side, but was good with the vanilla ice cream. We always go with sweet and savory! French toast was divine! California burrito was flavorful and the prosciutto egg toast was delectable. The pesto aioli was chefs kiss! Everything was so good. Make sure to join the waitlist immediately. We waited upwards to an hour, but it was worth it. The staff is so friendly and I loved the vibe inside. Very boho. read more

Nestled in busy, ever-under-construction Kalihi off of Dillingham Boulevard lies Egghead Cafe. On a whim, I came here for lunch to confront my PTSD of being called Egghead in the second grade. Let me tell you this: Egghead is excellent epicurean therapy if you're having one of those days. I had the smoky salmon benedict and a side order of waffle fries. You could substitute the garden salad for waffle fries, but I needed some ruffage. The egg-bases hollandaise is wonderful and made even better with some Tapatio. The salmon is generous too--not too thin and not overwhelmed by egg or cheese. I'll come back here again when I'm on Oahu for more therapy. read more

This has been my go-to spot lately, and I've been enjoying all the different dishes and my favorite drink.. Tiramisu cold brew! Today I decided to try the Oh love French toast because a lot of people said it's really good, and I'm so happy I did. The French toast was perfectly sweet.. nothing overpowering. The french toast itself had a crispy exterior with a soft interior.. it was also covered in chocolate and strawberries.. you can't go wrong with those ingredients. I'm definitely going to continue coming here for the excellent customer service and delicious food and coffee. read more

This breakfast/brunch was a hit. Be prepared to wait 10-30mins to get a table, because this is a popular place. Got the Avocado corn toast with an added egg. Sourdough toast was yummy, I enjoyed the fresh greens on the side! 4/5, maybe for me a little too much corn in the avocado spread. My husband got the pork belly omelette, he said it was super yummy! Pork belly done so well! 5/5 Chai latte was prefect! And the affogato was good, not the best of Ice creams but still yummy! Looking around at all the food it looked so good. I was really excited to try this place for the first time today, especially after seeing so many positive reviews, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype. When we arrived, it was busy, and the QR code to join the waitlist was right at the entrance where a crowd had gathered, which made it hard to see. I ended up having to walk back outside to scan and then get on the waiting list. Once seated, I ordered the crab Benedict, and it was a big disappointment ....the crab was extremely fishy and watery, almost like it came straight from a can, and there was barely any hollandaise sauce (which to me...really makes the dish). It came with mixed greens, but it was mostly arugula, which was quite bitter. I wish I had gone with the fries, but I felt rushed through ordering. My hubs tried the PB French toast, which also fell flat. Service was minimal water was just plain tap, and I ordered a mango mimosa but received orange instead....and the brut tasted flat Overall, we left underwhelmed. I wanted to love this place, but the food, service, and overall experience just didn't match the hype. Lastly.... The price! The check came quickly and I wanted to get a drink to go but once I saw the bill I was done. Totally not worth it. Save your Kala and head over to BLD across the street for breakfast or Sugois. You will get your time and money's worth!!! read more

One side is for dine in and the other side is take out . Egghead only takes in person take out on weekend 🙏 but able to do phone, online take out on weekdays .
