I love the Honeydew Eggettes here ($3.50)! This past Saturday, I probably had the best bag of honeydew eggettes yet. The outer shell was just the right crisp. And the sweet, soft insides was just the right combination of honeydew and eggette goodness. Absolutely love Eggettes ever since its inception into my sunset neighborhood a few years back. It's a really ideal place to stop for a yummy affordable snack. They have a very easy and organized menu where their drinks are categorized by their base of Green Tea, Milk Tea, Thai Tea, Coffee, etc. I always get either their Milk Green Tea or Mango Green Tea-so delicious and never disappointed! LESS SUGAR is key here though---trust me it's still sweet enough even when you ask for "less sugar" because the excessive sugar can overpower any flavor you chose. Plus, they have successfully perfected their recipe for boba balls ---something so simple, yet it makes the world of difference in your $3 drink. Their boba balls are consistently fresh, sweet, and chewy from the outer layer to the core. Their specialty is of course, the eggettes! They have original, chocolate, or a special flavor usually honeydew, sesame, or coconut. I like the coconut best which is original eggettes with coconuts shreds and a hint of coconutty flavor. Their rice rolls are pretty bomb too and comes with two sauces, peanut and hoisin. YUM! Service is fast. Food and drinks are always on point. I just came back here again last night (yeah...what's new??) and gave their Chocolate Eggettes another try. First time in probably half a year and DAMN. Its YUM METER went up to 10! I can't believe I've only recently discovered this Eggettes location! I LOVE eggettes and try to order them at HK dessert places whenever possible. I tried them when I visited HK earlier this year and Eggettes came close to replicating the real deal. My friends and I shared both the original and chocolate ($3 each). They were made fresh and we were able to watch the action happen with the eggette-makers by the window. Both were just slightly sweet which was perfect and tasted like they should...crispy on the outside and doughy on the inside. I think I prefer the original one but they also had a melon flavor which sounded interesting. Service was decent but they need to get better about cleaning their tables. Hidden gem for drinks! Although the place is called eggettes, their eggettes are only okay. Their drinks however, are refreshing and flavorful! Not as syrupy and sweet as other milk tea places. They also use real fruit to blend in their smoothies, which is what my gf and I usually get. Their service is what you would expect from an Asian place, quick and efficient but not the most accommodating. May have long lines after 3pm on weekdays because the kids get off! read more

Still so good!! My soul spot in SF! After trying tons of places in SF (at least all the mainstream boba places), me and my boyfriend (intermediate boba experts) both agree that Eggettes has the best tapioca and consistency of quality! Plus, the owner Kelvin? is super friendly! Keep in mind though, it is pretty busy during afterschool time and weekends. Expect a wait but I promise it will be worthy! I've driven by Eggettes a number of times without really noticing it. But I finally gave this place a try with a few friends. We went around 9:30 p.m. or so and there were a couple of other people there. We were quickly helped by the two guys working there and received our order in a reasonable time. The eggettes ($3) come in a few flavors. We tried both original and honeydew. I was surprised that the honeydew actually had a good amount of honeydew flavor to them. The texture is crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. These eggettes are a little denser than other places I've tried, and they are good. I think I like the original better. I did not order any drinks but my friends said that they were good. To me, this place is decent- the pricing is average, the menu is pretty standard, the service is okay, the decor is plain. I'm not sure when I will go back, since there are lots of options for Asian-type drinks/snacks, but it's a good option. read more

I love me some tapioca drinks!! I always get milk tea or milk green tea here! It never fails and you just can't go wrong with milk tea tapioca. Oh and their eggpuffs are pretty good and puffy too. They offer free internet to customers which is cool if you are in need of information or whatever. Since the Eggettes franchise near Glen Park closed down, this is the closest Eggettes from home. - The tapioca balls tasted like it had been sitting in their syrup way too long, super mushy. - Also they do not have a coupon for the next purchase for .50 off a drink nor would they honor the coupon from their original venue (South San Francisco). - No more vending machine for me and others to complete my Pixar/Disney & Marvel sets. Unfortunately for them, there was also a homeless inside their shop (not loitering because he obviously made a purchase)...but gross. With other tapioca places in the Sunset, the likelihood of coming back? Not very likely. read more

My boyfriend and I were craving egg waffles, so we decided to stop by before our drive back to SJ. One of the nice things about this place before we even walked in was that parking here was quick and easy!! We allllll know that parking in SF is a pain, so parking is definitely one thing we need to factor in when coming to this place for a quick snack. The first thing that caught my eye was that they had three flavors of waffles - honeydew (flavor of the day, I believe), chocolate, and plain. Honeydew sounded interesting so I decided to order that, while my boyfriend ordered the shumai. Service was pretty quick and efficient. On that note, I thought the waffles were made pretty well - they were crisp on the outside, and soft on the inside; however, there was only a tiny hint of honeydew. Personally, I would have wanted more flavor because that was the most distinctive characteristic from the plain waffles. The shumai was alright. The pieces were pretty tiny, and I think it kind of reminded us both of the pre-made ones that you could get from the grocery store. They added sesame oil to the dipping sauce, and sesame oil makes everything better for sure! Overall, I thought the food was ok. In terms of ambience, I would definitely say that it reminds me of walking into my elder's house or something. The time that I went in, they had a lot of Asian music video playing (which I don't mind at all because let's admit it, some of the tunes are pretty catchy). In terms of decorations, the store was decorated with Pokemons because I think that was something they were promoting at the time. All in all, if I'm ever craving eggettes and don't want to deal with SF traffic and parking, I would come back here again. read more

I've had eggettes in HK (and still the best I would say) but with cantaloupe flavor filled inside? Pretty interesting concept but I didn't taste much of it. I think a better choice would be vanilla or chocolate. It is freshly made and quick. There are a lot of drink selections posted on their menu. I went with the soy milk tea. You can taste the soy milk but I felt there was a lot of sugar added. Perhaps the milk tea is better. Limited seating and a small place. There is a TV playing canto songs, feel free to bust out your karaoke skills. read more

Eggettes brings a little bit of the Hong Kong flavor to our neighborhood of Sunset. They serve all the usual suspects. The flavorful Gelatin Shark Fin Soup, the Fish Shui Mai drenched in soy sauce, and of course, the Eggettes! The eggettes here are tasty, but they are certainly not as good as the ones you would find in Hong Kong. The ones here are soft, and chewy all the way through. If you don't finish your batch in around 20 minutes, the eggettes will start to stale. It's not that bad, but a good eggette should have texture like a Takoyaki. Crispy on the outside with a soft, warm interior. Eggettes is not there yet, but maybe one day! : ) Until then, they have pretty good tapioca drinks. It's a good place to chill if you like being surrounded by Chinese Pop music. Perhaps Jay Chou in the background can bring you back the flavor of Hong Kong if the eggettes aren't doing the trick. read more

I love coming here because they have delicious milk tea, and they have hot made to order yummy eggettes to snack on! Other boba places that I like do not have tables and seats for you and your friends to sit and chit chat. But eggettes does! They also have computer and free-wifi (with purchase) for you to use. Came here last night with a friend, we were looking for some place to sit and chit chat at. We got there at 9:30pm, and ordered my favorite...Almond Milk Tea and a order of eggettes! My first time coming to this location yesterday and I called to order before heading there. My order was ready by the time I got there. I had the original egg puffs, curry fish balls, and honey green tea with boba. Everything was good, especially the curry fish balls. It had the perfect spiciness and curry flavor. This place gets crowded sometimes. They usually make my drinks quick, but they make the eggettes pretty slow. I prefer the South San Francisco Eggettes location over this one because there's less crowds, faster service and the drinks taste better in my opinion. This place is kinda in the middle of nowhere but hey, that means no crowds yay! The place is pretty spacious though there's not much actual seating available. (They do have a restroom though! I don't know why that needed to be mentioned but I feel like I expect most places like these not to have one available for customers). They did seem to have an extensive menu, but seeing that we didn't get the cash only memo we only had enough for one egg puff. (I'm curious to try their drinks since I've heard friends say good things but have also skimmed through a couple reviews saying they're not that great). We stuck with the original flavor for our first time, and it only took a couple minutes before it was ready. They serve it in a baggie and they're usually best when they're fresh. Luckily we grabbed the last table and ate it there. The price was $3 for the original and the other flavors were $3.50 So price-wise it's about the same that I'm used to paying at other places. The portion is definitely smaller, but it tastes wayyy better. It's crispy on the outsides and a little soft on the insides. They're just fun to eat! I don't care if they're technically just waffles (as everyone says). If I was feeling up to the trek I would definitely come back to try their other flavors and their drinks. *Again, CASH ONLY! Walking into this dessert cafe, I feel like I'm back in Hong Kong. I usually come here for the tapioca drinks, but the aroma of the eggettes make it really hard to resist. Although there are many different flavors, I like to stick to the plain. For all yelpers who don't know what eggettes are, they are basically waffles, but instead of square "dimples", they are inverse oval shapes like eggs. These are very popular snacks in HK. My favorite drink is the honey green tea with or without tapioca. (Depending on my mood). You can get it cold or warm.... I love it cold, so refreshing. The milk tea and red bean tapioca are yummy too! Tapioca balls are always soft, smooth and chewy. If you around the outer sunset and want to try something new, definitely give it a try! read more

Eggettes use to be at the top of the hill but has gradually rolled itself down to the very bottom. I used to love this place, in fact I came here almost everyday for a month. However, as years gone by the quality of their drinks were slowly diminishing from flavorful milk teas to watered down sugary substances made by a 5 year old. Today, I ordered the Coconut Thai Tea which consisted of 90% water, 10% thai tea, and a spec of coconut. It was barely edible. It was a secret sabotage. I really wanted to bring it back and make them taste the crap they made, but being non-confrontational I went home with my head down and poured it down the drain. To make matters worse, I really disliked the service. They rushed through my order as humanely fast as possible as if there were a hundred people in line. But in actuality, I was the only one. The eggettes...basically just a simple toasted waffle-thing, soft on the inside, toasty on the outside..but the simplicity is the most charming thing about them! It makes you feel.....pure...as in, your body doesn't feel that overbearing guilt afterwards which often accompanies the consumption of ice cream, cheesecake, candy, blah blah, etc etc. If I lived nearer to here (by 8 hours), this would be my "go to" place when I am in need of a snack//dessert that is cheap, tasty, and guilt-free! read more

The Taiwanese has Q-Cup and Tapioca Express, finally the us Hong Kong "Honkies" folks have a good snack shoppe called Eggettes. Its funny to me reading all these posts about "eggettes." Honestly born in Hong Kong and eating this stuff since I was a kid from Hong Kong to the States, this is the first time I heard any one giving them a english name! In anycase, I this place is a very nice place to relax and or hang out with several friends. Several computers free use for customers and the color matching decor really makes this place a bit more original than all your other chains. But most importantly, the food is good. All these snacks are from Hong Kong, their rice rolls, eggettes, siu mai, "small bowl fin soup" and fishballs remind me of Hong Kong street style snacks. Finally we Honkies have a place to eat and its good. Everything is good here. Most mentionable is the eggettes here are different than the other places in the Bay. The inside of the eggettes actually have a soft filling, and a crunchy outside; fantastic! The staff is nice and their TV is always on showing good KTV concert and MV of the newest Cantonese Songs. I give them five stars for being a pioneer in breaking through hong kong style snacks in the Bay Area market, and hope they continue to expand and do well. read more

Eggettes - Semi-crispy eggshells made of pancake batter with plain, cocunut, chocolate, or honeydew flavoring. Great combined with their tapioca milk teas. Even though they have 3 eggette machines, go when they are not too busy because the wait can be long. Beware of the "boss lady" during slow hours because she is inconsistent. I ordered a honeydew eggette one time and she poured too much batter onto the machine making the "eggshells" too thick and soggy. She also forgot to cool the finished product with the fans so my eggettes did not hold their shape. Overall, they make the best eggettes and tapioca drinks in the Sunset District. Their tapioca drinks are a little more expensive than other places, but their milk teas are not watered down, overly sweet, or full of ice cubes. read more

Eggettes didn't live up to my expectations, but I did enjoy the actual original eggettes. Come in and the first thing my friend and I notice is the poor table set-up and concrete floors. Okay, maybe that's the second thing, we actually were really enticed by the smell of the eggettes....though my friend said she thought it smelled like Ovaltine (which they didn't serve...what kind of Asian cafe doesn't serve Ovaltine?). Back to the tables; they were silver generic tin round tables lined up in the middle of the restaurant with chairs on either side of them. NO major table separation...almost like it was communal sitting, which is fine some places, but not in this instance. Just didn't feel very welcoming. We didn't stay terribly long. The staff didn'tpay too much attention to getting the drinks out to the customers. I swear we didn't hear the person behind the counter call out that my friends milk tea order was ready...there were a few drinks waiting to be picked up when she grabbed hers. Coincidentally, our eggettes were ready too, and served to us in a paper bag (with cute holes for ventilation). Why didn't they serve it on a platter or other cardboard something. *shrug* The eggettes themselves were how I like them--while warm they are a nice texture and the right amount of sweetness. Wait too long and while cold the insides become to doughy. Undercooked at first maybe? The milk tea was not sweet enough, but my friend seemed to like it that way. Needed more condensed milk if you ask me. So many other places one could go for eggettes, milk teas and other HK desserts and goodies in and around the city, I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon. The only reason they don't get 5 stars is because some Eggettes (including the one on El Camino) issue 50 cent coupons on receipts. Original eggettes and milk tea? SOLD!! Man, eggettes are like a hybrid of a Flatune (flat version of a fortune cookie) cookie and a waffle, crispy on the outside and nice,soft and chewy in the inside. They have really mastered the skills of turning the eggette machine, I've actually tried eggettes at Genki and it was dry and a little bland. Genki rules when it comes to crepes but Eggette definitely beats them on this little treat. The milk tea here actually taste like real bitter red tea not just powder and milk. Tasty and authentic! While I was reading their menu I also noticed they had slim milk tea and soy milk tea!! Must try the soy next time! This is not my first time here at Eggettes, but I have not visited here for a long time. I came here with a friend at 6 PM because we were craving desserts. Ambiance: The place is inviting in my opinion, but there are a few tables for seating. There is a tv in the room that places mainly asian music videos. The color scheme is pastel, which I like. There is also a bathroom inside, which is always a plus! Service: The place is self-seating, so we just sat anywhere we wanted after we ordered. The cashiers were nice. There were 2 workers behind the counter, who just chatted as they waited for our orders to be ready. Food: I ordered the original eggettes. It was freshly made (I hate it when they give me the ones that have been made earlier and just sat there). I love eating it when it is hot because it is nice and crispy. Once it cools off, the crispiness wears off and it almost becomes gummy, so eat it while it's fresh and hot! I don't think the eggettes were anyothing special, but it tasted good because I was craving it and haven't had it in a while. The eggettes costed $3.00. For me, I think it is a bit pricey for what you get since there aren't a lot of eggettes, but it's not bad. I think this is a good place if you just want to catch up with a friend. Wow, so these egg puffs are delicious! They're like waffles, but really light and you can just rip off the egg shapes one by one, eating them on the go. I've only tried them once before, but this place had them in original, coconut, chocolate, and honeydew. I tried all of them except chocolate and they were all great. Personally, I think the coconut was the best, with original coming in second. So I came here looking for good boba milk tea, and although I discovered their amazing egg puffs, I was kinda disappointed by their boba. I had a honey milk tea that was weak and the boba consistency was just decent, not the best. Also, the service was pretty good, but I think the space is a little underutilized. They could probably fit in more tables and chairs so people don't have to leave (there really aren't many tables).
