By weekend day, this is Egg, by night, this is Spare No Rib. Same owners, same venue, two different restaurants. I fell in love with Spare No Rib and came back on the weekend to try the brunch version. I was not disappointed. The menu was short and sweet and utterly unique. I tried the signature Eggs Benedict which is made with cornbread instead of the traditional biscuit. The corn bread added a sweet dimension to the traditional dish. I also chose to add smoked pork belly to the dish. After one bite, I was in love. The service at both Egg and Spare No rib is always impeccable. The staff is friendly, witty, and quick with fantastic recommendations. I have and will come back. read more

The service was the absolute worst I've ever experienced. I didn't want to even tip, but I'm not an asshole, so I did anyways. I've never met more rude people - especially in the service industry. The mimosas were disgusting and for $8 per glass, I left very disappointed. The food (spinach and avocado Benedict) was good, but it in no way, shape or form made up for everything else. We are kind of breakfast enthusiasts, and during a weekend in St Louis I decided to test out my theory that places with Egg (or Yolk, etc.) in their name have very good breakfasts. We drove past it - it's in the same place as Spare No Rib. But when I called, the owner was friendly and helpful. I believe this was their first Saturday they've served breakfast, and I suspect this will become a popular place very quickly. Friendly owners, the chef spoke with us a bit, and some very unique breakfast offerings. My wife loved the eggs benedict (she tried a couple of varieties) and I had the chakchouka - amazing. The BEST breakfast tacos I have ever had in my life. We were immediately greeted by the owner, he offered us drinks while we waited for our table. We came on a bustling Saturday morning, and waited no more than 5 minutes. After ordering, our food arrived within about 3 minutes. Our first visit to Egg, and there was good, and not so good. We got there within the hour before their closing. We were warmly greeted. They very nicely accommodated our seating requirements as I cannot sit on a tall chair at a counter. We did wait a bit for server to come take our order. I ordered coffee, my partner ordered orange juice and water. He wanted grapefruit but they were out. I ordered the avocado spinach Benedict with a side of sausage patty. Partner ordered pulled pork hash. After a bit of a long wait, 2 coffees arrived, but no drinks for partner. We then had a bit of a wait for the food. The server brought my food, but we had no silverware, napkins, etc. We also asked about partner's drinks at that time. After several minutes, we were getting ready to get up to go to the counter in search of silverware, my partner's food arrived. We then asked for his beverages again and utensils to eat with. They brought utensils and napkins, but drinks arrived a bit after. They did apologize for the delay. My food was still fairly warm, except for the potatoes. The presentation of the food was very nice. Avocado halves on each square of cornbread, with sauteed spinach sprinkled on them topped off with poached eggs and hollandaise. My meal was very tasty. Poached eggs were beautifully done. Hollandaise was good. The sausage was very good! My partner's dish was very heavy on large chunks of pork, not entirely pulled, with very little potato or other ingredients to make it a true hash. But he enjoyed the flavor, and the poached eggs. And his OJ was fresh squeezed. Servers checked up on refills, etc. At end of meal I asked for one of the coffee charges to be removed as we had only ordered one, and they accommodated us cheerfully. The owner/ manager thanked us for choosing them as we were leaving and asked if we were local. I noticed after we got home, that my clothes and my leather purse had a very strong smoked smell. The restaurant is a rib place in the evening hours, and they must have been running the smoker while we were dining. I didn't notice but a slight smell of that when we had arrived. But it was very strong on my clothing after we left. So all in all it was a mixed experience. The food is excellent, freshly prepared from scratch. Everyone is friendly and welcoming. Service for us was a bit haphazard and slow. The prices are a bit on the high side, my bill was close to $40. read more

Great spot! The owner and the staff really want you to enjoy your experience. I ordered a carne asada taco with a chakchouka, and a Bloody Mary. My friend got 3 different taco- the spicy rib being the best - and a mimosa. The drinks were both great and so were the tacos. However, I didn't care for the chakchouka, but the owner noticed and insisted he would bring something I liked better. I'm not one to complain, but he could see the mostly full plate I was ready to discard and wanted to make it right. Instead, he brought me an el cerdo. Visited Egg, on a weekend trip to St Louis, based on the positive reviews and we weren't disappointed. If you're looking for the typical waffles, pancakes, scrambled egg fare, this is not your place. But if you're interested in creative dishes with strong flavors, BBQish influence and a delightful change from the same old, same old, then this is the place. I had a delicious vegetable hash with poached eggs and my husband had a pulled pork hash with poached eggs. Both were excellent. The coffee was strong and alcoholic drinks are available but we passed. Service was courteous and attentive and the host was very accommodating and sweet. ..he brought us a complimentary corn biscuit and gravy when we told him we were visiting from out of town. Holy cow is Egg good. I mean, really good. The food is very refined for a place that hasn't been open long. The restaurant space is beautiful, the food is lush, and the wait staff is great. I was in town for the weekend so I decided to stop by. I saw the reviews on yelp so I had high expectations however I would probably never come back here. We ordered 2 americanos, and someone came by to drop off one cup of coffee didn't tell us where the other one was nor what it was. Then our server came by and took away that Coffee and dropped off the 2 americanos without a word. Then we waited 45 minutes for our small portioned, overpriced and cold food Would not recommend to anyone read more

What sets it apart as my favorite restaurant in St. Louis is its atmosphere and incredibly friendly staff and owners. Lassaad, one of the owners, frequently greets you as you walk in. Once, he spotted me elsewhere in St. Louis and we had coffee together, and it felt as though we were longtime friends. Cute location and you can tell there is a lot of heart that went into the restaurant, as another reviewer mentioned, but disappointing nonetheless. My potatoes were basically just crispy, burnt cubes. A main ingredient on my meal - an avocado- was extremely underripe, almost crisp, and totally inedible. Service was sub par on top of it all. Amazing breakfast when you want something a little different than traditional breakfast fare. I had a pulled pork omelette, which was a special and not on the menu.
