We always WANT to like this place and have given them several opportunities to prove that they're…read moreserious about running a clean restaurant, but we are invariably disappointed. We are partial to sitting at restaurant bars when we go out to eat. The Shanghai Bistro bar is always in need of a wipe-down when we sit down at an otherwise barely occupied bar. We love the food, but when we have to ask the completely uninterested bartender to clean his bar, this gets the experience off to an unpleasant beginning. We've had the same bartender each of the three times we've been there and each time it seems as if he'd rather be anywhere but there. Even after leaving a note on my credit card slip last time suggesting he take more pride in his department, the bar area is still in pretty sorry shape. Shanghai Bistro used to be PACKED on weeknights as well as weekends. Even on a Wednesday night -- which is their sushi special night -- the fact that the place had perhaps 20 diners demonstrates that something has gone wrong. We will undoubtedly return despite these last three unpleasant experiences. We simply hope that reviews such as this one will reach the eyes of those who need to read them.

It's still good but it's pretty unappetizing when you're half or so done eating and it feels like leftovers you forgot to heat up. Event he good part though is still just good, it's nothing great and I find a lot of the flavor choices are kind of awkward and don't work together well at all. Another issue I had was with the "pulled pork" it was not pulled/shredded, just huge chunks of meat, which was kind of gross in pasta.

And not in a super fermented way, but in a this was not made good way. I could hardly eat it. The bossam was pretty good, but missing the kimchi and other banchan just made it lack a little. The japchae was decent, but not my favorite. The spicy pork lacked the usual sweetness and also wasn't as red as I'm used to. Maybe it had less gochujang or no red dye 40??? What really got me, is our server brought our rice over in his pocket... to be fair, it came in a bowl with a lid. But that threw me off a little... LOL It was super empty on a Friday night. Here's what we had... The shallot wontons are crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and a bold onion-y flavor. You can taste the quality of the beef in the burger, and the Apothik has bold miso mustard, pickles, and bacon layered on top. The veggie burger is one of the best I've had. The patty wasn't super crispy, but it tasted great with the ginger and turmeric seasoning. The toppings are pretty standard burger add ons.
