We had noticed this restaurant while visiting a few years ago. It was just down the street from a hotel we had a convention at. As we travel by Eau Claire once a month we decided to take the time to drive downtown and check it out. We were there on a Monday morning right at 11. We were the first to be seated. An apology was given when serving our water as they had an ice issue. It was no big deal for us. My husband is a fan of Masama and he was not disappointed stating that this was the best Masama he has had and he has tried them all over the US. And Canada. I had the Drunken noodle which was delicious although a tad spicy. We usually order our food a #3 spicy but my husband said mine was a bit spicier than his. I laughed as I blew my nose and dabbed my wet eyes as the spice really hit home. We ordered the coconut mango sticky rice to share and asked for it to be served with the main meal. Glad we did because it helped with the spicy drunken noodle. It also was one of the best sticky rice w/mango and coconut sauce we have ever had. This is a place we would go back to on our travels. We ordered the tom kha soup and the Penang scallop curry. Tom kha was delicious and had lots of chicken but was a medium sized bowl rather than the larger size I was hoping for. Very savory and not as sweet as some of the other soups I've had and very good. We also ordered a Thai iced tea that was very good but became amazing because they offered reasonably priced refills. Our server was very helpful and patient. A wonderful place to try Thai food for the first time. The business is in an older building, it's not a spectacle but is well kept and the vibe of the place seems to be well established and earned. read more

Thai Orchid is my go to spot for dinner when visiting Eau Claire! Now I've never been to Thailand or Vietnam or Laos or China, so I can't say how authentic the food is, but I've eaten at countless like places all over these United States, and this one is among my favorites. The service is friendly and prompt. The dining room is zero frills. The papaya salad is one of the most unique things I've ever had. Get it dressed Laotian (sweet and sour) and Hmong (salty) style. Medium spice (#2) is spicy, and I like spicy! And say "yes, please" to the peppers and peanuts. The pad Thai is delicious as is the mixed vegetable stir fry, but I recently tried the pho with all the fixins. The waitress told me the owner's husband gets in very early to start the broth, and it's obvious. Among the most flavorful and balanced bowls of this Vietnamese beef noodle soup I've ever had! Ended up throwing the food out. Ordered the pad Thai with mild spice and a pineapple curry with mild spice. The pineapple in the curry seemed to be canned (has the shape as canned pineapple). The curry sauce was tasteless. The chicken in the pad Thai was very very dry. Everything didn't taste fresh at all. read more

Had lunch here on Saturday with my neice. We are from out of town and we're looking for Thai food. Selected this place based on Yelp reviews - and it do not disappoint. We ordered shrimp pad Thai (2 star spice) and panang curry w chicken (mild). The pad thai arrived first - hot and steamy. Sometimes this dish can be dry - but not his one - it had a nice sauce and the spice was spot on. My first taste of the panang - was amazing! Such richness and depth of flavor. May be the best panang curry I have ever had. My neice felt the same way. We loved it so much we each ordered it to go! We arrived at noon and there was one other table occupied. I was here last year during peak of COVID-19 and did not have a chance to sit down to enjoy the meal. Takeout order only. This time I have the chance to dine in and enjoy the freshly cooked dish. The seafood came with a huge portion of mixed fish, shrimp, calamari and scallop. The Thai Chili Pate (3 out of 4 spicy level) was a perfect fit for this dish (not curry)! Thai Orchid is a cute restaurant with a great location. Lunch service was fast. The green curry sauce was perfect, but the fresh veggies weren't cooked until fork tender, which made them a little awkward to manage. Then there were the frozen mixed veggies...okay...but not as traditional as hoped. Overall, the food and dining experience was good enough that I'll think of Thai Orchid whenever I'm meeting friends downtown and want a fun option for a casual meal. read more

Every dish on the menu is fabulous, it's always so hard to pick just one or two items because I want everything on the menu. From the appetizers to main course dishes to desserts and even the drinks. No where in town has the best Thai food. Thai tea here is fresh brewed and so delicious!!! I could go on. Been coming here for years ever since it was previously named Pad Thai, and now has changed over to Thai Orchid. So glad the recipes and continued even with the change of ownership. Owners previously and currently are related so it brings great joy that the traditional recipes have continued. Food is truly incredible and the most authentic Thai we have in the area. If this place ever shuts done, EC is doomed. Also I'll like to mention that I love the new branding of the restaurant. Even though inside dining is not available, so thankful they're able to still serve the community with take out. Thai Orchid is one the the best if not top Asian restaurants Eau Claire has! I first visited Thai Orchid back in May 2023 and enjoyed both the setting and food so when I was back in Eau Claire on business I decided to hit it up again! I ordered the Spring Roll App ( Veggie Version) to start and while these were tasty they were very oily. I didn't know these were gonna come deep fried or else I wouldn't have ordered them so that is kinda my fault. For my main dish I ordered the Drunken Noodles with Veggies l. While good I was wanting more veggies in the dish and a little More flavor& spice. As I mentioned this was my 2nd time here and I really liked my meal the first time , I believe I got a curry dish so not that the 2nd time was bad but it didn't compare to first time I ate here. Enjoyed the food except they didn't include utensils and there were whole pieces of cabbage in the salad that was raw and inedible in that form. They have a 1-4 spicy scale. Perhaps it could be more sensitive with the a 1-10 . As it turned out the 3 was more than we wanted. Overall good experience. read more

Wow, this was a very pleasant surprise! We used to come to Eau Claire more often, in part, because of a restaurant called Singha Thai, which closed a while ago and it was at this address. Enter Thai Orchid, which opened in May of 2018 in its place, previously unknown to us. The menu is nearly the same, because the chef is the same person who operated Singha Thai! The only significant difference is that the main dining area is off to the right, rather than to the left, making for a more pleasant and spacious experience. The food is identically very good: the Tom Kha is just as tart and tasty as ever, and the Panang curry had a good kick to it at the level 3 spice, a pleasant degree of heat. Everything that we had missed came back, as delicious as ever. The servers and host were very nice to us, very personable. We are thrilled and we'll be back! read more

My boyfriend and I stop here frequently, as it is our favorite spot to get food in town. We typically order the yellow curry and the beef pho soup, and we're always satisfied with our meals. The only thing that could be improved is the music. They have a TV on the wall that they use for playing music and it can be a bit loud if you're sitting at one of the tables beneath it. If you've grown up in a small town in Wisconsin your whole life, and you consider Eau Claire the big city or something, then sure, this Thai food is fine. However, if you're used to Thai food in literally any actual American *city*, this place will severely disappoint you. The food is strange... such as the curry dishes that taste like they have coconut flavoring added to them. The noodle dishes are all basically the same tasting, and very watery. And the veggies they use are beyond disappointing. This place serves the white bread of American Thai food. Fine if you're desperate, but otherwise, just don't. Also whatever you do, do not dine in. The place is a wreck. It's freezing. And they have a tv playing rhianna loudly on repeat. Service is also slow and they don't serve booze. read more

Best pho in town (the spicy chili paste it's served with keeps me coming back)! I also love the Waterfall Beef Salad. It's herbaceous and tart with just the right amount of spice (you can use fewer peppers if you don't like the heat). It can easily make two meals (it's even great after a night in the fridge). Staff are kind and helpful. My only wish would be a sound dampening ceiling or flooring as it gets very loud when it's busy (but it's easy to ignore bc you'll be so engrossed with the delicious food)! read more

Interesting. This was my first time in Eau Claire and one thing I noticed were the amount of Thai/Chinese/Viet fusion restaurants in town. It seem to all carry very similar dishes - standard Chinese American, pad thai / curry / laab, and pho. Prices are very competitive and there are many deals (e.g. Pho Wednesday's for $5) due to the abundance of restaurants within a 5 mile radius. Ambiance was standard. Customer wait times for the check was a bit laggy but fine nonetheless. Beautiful menu. Looks semi-authentic. Ordered - Pineapple Curry (3/5). It was alright. The soup was not thicc like others and a bit sweet. The portions were great though. Thai Orchid is fine and will deliver if you're craving for some Asian eats. read more
