We really enjoyed our dining experience at Akame Sushi. The AYCE option was a great value for us as it was our first time here, so we were able to try a wide variety of things between all the courses!!! Arriving during happy hour was an added bonus that we weren't expecting. We absolutely loved the ease of the tablet for ordering at our own pace (with photos and descriptions if we were unsure of what something was), which meant we weren't bombarded with a ton of food all at once and hot food wasn't sitting there getting cold. It was great to have your food delivered to your table minutes after you sent your order and empty plates were whisked away promptly. If you're gonna go, I would suggest going during lunch. It isn't the best but definitely better than nothing. The service is great, never had any issue with it and the place is usually quiet when we go. I wouldn't exactly say it's worth the money for their dinner prices but it's an AYCE so it's understandable. Eat an orange and be happy. Seriously, we had the most photogenic orange in the world at Akame and it tasted good too. Oh yeah, they have sushi here too, in the all you can eat variety. The sushi isn't anything great on its own, though it is made to order and is at least good. What distinguishes Akame is the service and business model. They give you a tablet to order as you wish so that there's more accuracy with and less waiting for your food. Akame Sushi is good enough, and honestly better than I expected. I admit my prejudice against smaller town sushi, and in particular "all-you-can-eat" places. Akame surprised me by serving my wife and I decent meals. And by dining ala carte as opposed to the all-you-can-eat deal, we actually saved money. The fish quality was good. Not excellent, but good. We had several sushi and sashimi pieces and none were below par. The unagi tasted a day old, but still edible and delicious. The pork katsu was nice in appetizer size, and a good value. Not the most convenient location in Eau Claire, but good for locals and for those passing through on route 53. I'd eat here again. read more

Ok. So we've been here a few times now and the food is pretty consistent. I have to say, the service tonight was weird. My wife ordered a sushi combo. It came with soup and salad. I've never been to a restaurant where the soup and salad were served simultaneously! Crazy! In what world does that actually happen. Then the dinners came out like 3 minutes later! We still were eating "soulad" course. I get the feeling they just want to serve and get us out. And while the ding room is kinda cool , light bulbs were out and the tables looked very haphazard . This is basically Fuji without the "theatrics" of the Habachi grill. Pricing is better than Fuji since it's all you can eat. There is no buffet line, you order from a Tablet and they bring the order to you! When you need more, just order more from the Tablet. Don't waste food. It's bad for the environment and they charge you $1+ per plate. Fuji is for special events and dates and you will leave hungry and broke. This used to be a good place but the quality of food, the amount of MSG they are packing in the food, and the service quality has really tanked since they opened. My advice; if you are charging $30 a meal, take time to be polite and introduce yourself, make sure the customers drinks are full, and when you do refill a drink, don't grab their cups wearing rubber gloves from just putting down the grimy towels. It's gross, unsanitary, and completely inappropriate. Have some respect for your customers and the optics of your restaurant. read more

We were given a short run through on how to order on the ipads. The food was decent, nothing to write home about. When the bill came....and with tip included. We ended up dropping 72$. I've found heaven on earth!! First time here and Freda made it so easy. I normally stay away from all you can eat places, especially sushi ones, but this place is like no other. Your food is made to order and quickly. I've had sushi from many places. The only negative I could find is that the sushi is a little loose, which means that it can fall apart before it reaches your mouth with chopsticks. I'm sure it's because of the quick service. The taste is very good and the options for cooked or raw are plenty. The mango salad was very refreshing. Their Tamago (sweet egg) is tasty too. The price was well worth it. I'll be back. read more

As always, a great place for fresh sushi and great service. The hostess/waitress staff has always been friendly and quick to grab up empty dishes. They keep our drinks full and quickly cater to our requests. Their sushi rolls are made fresh, and has not ever disappointed us. It would be easy to tell if sushi was refrigerated and they definitely roll theirs fresh! I've never been concerned about their sanitary practices as their tables have always been clean, dishes clean and bathrooms clean, which is great to see. It's also nice that they change their cloths and water they clean with because some laces (a well known location close by that sees a lot of customers as well) you can smell the stinky rags they use to constantly clean their tables with because that smell is very distinct (and off putting). Their lunch buffet offering is fantastic and well worth the price! We love sushi and our usual bill, charged for individual rolls and such, would be anywhere between $65-$75 without the tip included. The lunch buffet costs us less than $45 and we ate a lot of sushi! They have a great variation of rolls and include specialty rolls (normally would cost you at least $10 per roll and some places up to $16) in their lunch buffet. Overall I'd recommend this place without hesitation! I have never walked away hungry or disappointed! Bring an appetite but remember that you HAVE to eat what you order otherwise you're paying for the whole roll individually! Also, if you've never been here and are someone worried about being too close to strangers (waiters or waitresses) you order through an iPad device and have very little contact with anyone at the restaurant. Significantly overpriced with mediocre food. This was my third try and definitely my last. We were just there with a medium size family group 4 adults and 4 children. We all had the lunch all you can eat. First of all, the wait staff is not very professional and they push you very hard toward taking only the all-you-can-eat option even though there are à la carte options available. Then, they remind you that if you leave food on a plate there is a one dollar additional charge. The food quality is comparable to what you might find at a Chinese buffet. When I received my bill, the total was over $180 for my group because there was an automatic gratuity added. When I questioned this, they indicated that they always do that- I pointed out that nowhere in the menu was that gratuity listed and they basically said it's too bad. I am a generous tipper when I feel that the service and experience is worthy, however, to me, gratuity should be a representation of the quality of service received.
