After doing some shopping in Greenwood today, we decided to visit one of our favorite spots to grab some Pho noodles and shrimp spring rolls. We also decided, based on some other Yelp reviews, to try the hot n sour soup. Since we carry their menu in our car, we looked at it before going inside to make the selection process a little easier. They have an enormous amount of items from which to choose from and it can be a bit overwhelming if you don't know what you are looking for. We placed our order and the lady at the counter was very pleasant. After we sat down with our iced tea, she brought the hot n sour soup out immediately. It was good and somewhat different than some, but nothing special as we expected from some reviews. Note - we both liked the fresh brewed ice tea, it was not strong like some restaurants serve. Within a few minutes our spring rolls arrived along side of a delicious peanut sauce they serve with them....this sauce is the bomb! Next a waitress named Kim, brought us a big bowl of Pho noodle soup...#31 on the big board on the wall. It had chicken broth, rice noodles, crab meat, shrimp, and thin pork slices. A nice plate of Thai basil, fresh bean sprouts, and jalapeño peppers were served. Kim was very friendly and took the time to explain some things on the menu that we were curious about. She said she would help us anytime. We enjoyed our meal and noticed there were some large groups coming in. The waitresses were busy putting tables together and taking orders from the tables so as not to have so much congestion at the counter. I went up to get an ice tea refill and carry out box, which they promptly gave me and we wrapped up and said good bye to Kim and told her we'd be back again! Next time you are in the area and looking for a great place to eat, don't Pho get about this Vietnamese/Chinese restaurant. Okay let's get the biggest & possibly only negative out of the way first...they are closed on Sundays. Went here the first time a few years back with a friend of ours, Koji, per his recommendation. We let him order everything and EVERYTHING was great! Now it is our go to spot for Pho & Vietnamese. We have tried many different things but still only touched a fraction of the choices. It can be a bit overwhelming if you are not familiar with the various menus. The ladies behind the counter are pretty patient and will explain things. I see a lot of people not familiar with the Vietnamese menus just order the Chinese familiar things but are really missing out on some spectacular dishes. Tip #1 - Several times we have talked to other customers and they have always been more than willing to give suggestions and educate you. I think they remember what is what like before they knew all of the different choices. Tip #2 - Before going, look at the other Yelp reviews. Pho Ga and the Vietnamese Egg Rolls (#1) with the vegetables (lettuce, cucumber, Thai basil) are what you need to be most concerned about here. I always tell myself I'll try something new but just can't bring myself to it because these are so good. The egg rolls really are the best. Wrap them in the lettuce with a slice of cucumber and some Thai basil. The contrasting temperature and crunch are incredible. Service is always good. This is my partner and I's most visited restaurant in Indianapolis -- we go almost once a week! P.S. they get CRAZY busy during peak lunch hours and on Saturday afternoon. The best "Pho" place in Indianapolis!! We drove from Carmel and it was worth of driving. The price is just about right. We ordered a combination pho, rare beef pho and a spring roll. Pho! I can't get enough of the rare steak bowl. Not familiar with this Vietnamese delight? Imagine a bowl big enough to wash your face. Now, fill it with a massive portion of rice noodles, thinly shaved, rare beef, scallions, long strands of white onions, and maybe some other tasty vegetables. Drown these choice ingredients in the most savory broth and serve it to the customer with a plate laden with bean sprouts, Thai basil, sliced jalapeño and lime. Garnish to taste with these fixings, and season with the Rooster (Sriracha), chili garlic paste, and copious amounts of hoisin. All for $7. We have enjoyed this place for several years! The menu is Vietnamese, Chinese, and Thai. It's our favorite place to go to for pho (Vietnamese noodle soup) and they have my wife's second favorite hot sour soup. You place your order at the counter, then they bring it to your table (they give you a little numbered sign to put on your table). We went on a Tuesday evening and they were quite busy, almost packed, but they did a good job of getting everyone taken care of as quickly as possible. The restaurant is clean and looks nice. The food is good and reasonably priced. The staff is courteous and friendly. They came around regularly to check if we needed anything else. The only thing I'm upset about is that I threw out the takeout menu with the empty takeout boxes when we were done. I wanted to order every single item on the menu. Instead, we both opted for the dinner combinations, a great inexpensive choice as you get an entree, fried rice, egg roll or crab rangoon, and a fortune cookie. I couldn't believe how much food we got for the price. Total win. We ordered takeout, so we weren't in the actual establishment for very long. I've been going here since 2004 and i still love it. I'm glad they moved into a bigger venue because they've sure have gotten busier! The owner still remembers me and my friends and asks after us. You can't beat the tasty and fulfilling Vietnamese and Chinese food with their low prices (sadly prices have been slowly going up. Lunch used to be $3.99 but now $5.25). If you go during lunch hours, you may wait at least 30 minutes to get your food. Otherwise service is friendly and timely. Restaurant is usually clean. I'm very happy for their success :) read more

As the weather gets colder, I know I will want to warm up with these Vietnamese noodles! My friends raved about this place, and after two hours of us ziplining in Brown County, all we wanted was some rad pho. Egg roll#1/pho#1 did not disappoint! This restaurant's Vietnamese menu shines out with several types of pho (noodle soup with beef broth and spices) and other options, but skip the Chinese food if you care about authenticity. The appetizer spring rolls were filled with fresh shrimp and thai basil, and the hoisin/peanut is what really gives them flavor. Pour it on! Spoon it up! Just eat that sauce! Similarly, if you get the fish-chili sauce with your noodles, put it all in! Vietnamese fish sauce might be one of the world's best condiments, so don't skimp on the flavor. That sauce came with my dish, #10 (bun thjt xao cha gio). The dish has beef, noodles, CHOPPED FRIED SPRINGROLL, and fresh veggies. I really liked that spring roll! Did a carry out order today and I have to say this place is going on the top of my list of southside eats. Tried their chicken fried rice, sesame chicken, crab Rangoon, broccoli beed and a dry rice noodle dish. All delicious and all of that food in huge portions for less than $40. Oh my friends. THIS IS HEAVEN. Our new take out fave, we frequent this Beech Grove gem frequently for their delish Pho and dishes from all sorts of different asian countries. So far, we've tried quite a few different culinary treasures, but as of right now, the Pho Chin resonates in my mind as the best dish on the menu. (Mind you, the menu is massive, so by no means have we tried everything, but of the ones we have tried, it's the best.) #29 is a close second in the tasty food race. On a side note, I got the vegetable lo mein and was quite disappointed. I think the noodles were overcooked and the general flavor was not worth writing home about. The vegetable fried rice IS delicious though. I asked for extra veggies and they delivered! Also liked the fast-casual ordering process, where you walk up to the counter to order, find a table, and they will bring the food out to you. If you are not sure what you want you can look at the 30+ items w/ pictures on the wall, and order by number. Being a first-timer I had to order a Pho to see how it stacks up. I ordered the Pho dac Biet, a combination beef Pho. First thing I noticed it had more ingredients than the ones at Saigon or King Wok. I even took sips of the broth and it didn't taste like MSG water. I was pleasantly surprised to find beef tripe in the Pho, which is one of my favorite dim sum delicacies. I also ordered a Mongolian Beef lunch special to go, which was a little more disappointing. The portions were fairly small and it only included a small scoop of rice. The egg roll was huge though and it made up for the lack of food in the main entree. But then again, the lunch special was only $3.99 so if you want a moderate lunch it's not bad. If you are on the southside and craving Chinese and/or Vietnamese then you want to go here. There are closer Chinese restaurants to our house but we are willing to drive further to eat here. First time we did take out and didn't realize how popular it was. Second time we dined in. I ordered the shrimp fried rice (being pregnant with frequent heartburn makes me cautious!) while my husband ordered vegetable egg foo young and Szechuan vegetables. Because my husband is a vegetarian, we skipped the spring rolls (they only serve meat) and ordered the Vietnamese egg roll. We enjoyed our meals and thought the Vietnamese egg rolls needed the spice, nut sauce it came with so make sure you try the egg rolls with it! If you dine in, it is actually pretty spacious and restaurant workers will come around asking if you need refills and will dump/clean your trays. We will be back in the future and can't wait to try other menu items. read more

I went here specifically based on the reports of the awesomeness of their Pho, and I was not disappointed. I ordered the Pho with beef balls, tendon, sliced beef and tripe. I have had Pho several other places, and this was far and away the best I have ever tasted. The broth was perfectly seasoned and flavorful, and had that bit of collagen feeling across the lips that only comes from simmering beef bones. They provide fresh garnishes for the soup, and you can season it to taste. I also tried the Vietnamese egg rolls and am now completely hooked on them as well. And that dipping concoction they come with, well it's just sweet/spicy/salty goodness you have to try to appreciate. read more

This was my first Vietnamese restaurant I ever tried. I was not sure what to get, so I watched what all the Vietnamese patrons were eating. There are two menus. One is a traditional Americanized Chinese menu. The other is authentic Vietnamese menu. They have so many choices, one can easily get overwhelmed. I opted for a big bowl of soup. It had a rich, and flavorful broth. I have since tried many of the dishes and enjoyed them all. Even the traditional Chinese meals taste better that most places. During the lunch and dinner rush, be ready to wait a few minutes. But the reward is well worth it! Also try the spring rolls and the Vietnamese egg rolls. I've decided to only give 3 stars for the fact that I have never eaten inside of this restaurant and have only gotten take out on several occasions. Take out has been decent overall! Meals include soup, crab rangoon OR egg roll, rice and your entree choice. I have to say that you do get a large amount for what you pay! Again my rating is low ONLY because I can't base it on customer service inside of the restaurant. I will say that the staff is always nice when I call to place my order and definitely nice when I arrive to pick up my order. Parking lot is always PACKED, even on weeknights. This tidy newish building holds within its confines a rarity in Indy. This rarity has caused great men to bow before its might. A simple peasant dish, in reality. Ubiquitous in Vietnam, on most street corners. In Indy? Only a few choice spots. This rarity I speak of is pho (forget that the Vietnamese stylization, not gonna even try to find out how to do it, but pronounced fuh). Luxurious rice noodles in a light broth glistening with the little globules of fat. A pristine condiment dish overflowing with the bounty of sweet basil, crisp jalapeno, crunchy bean sprouts and lime accompanies this dish. Don't forget the little jar of crimson chili paste. Spoon a little in, a splash of hoisin sauce, then a little more chili paste. The service is quick and friendly, the space is clean and welcoming. A lot of nice choices on the menu, but the pho selection keeps me coming back. Get it with well done beef only if you like. Or opt for the tripe, rare beef and meatball. read more
