2. Moo Shu Pork
Rebecca S.

First time visit here as I've been craving moo shu pork and this location in Southport is close to home. The inside was decorated with some fun pops of color and art, they weren't busy but steady lunch traffic, both dine in and takeout. Service was great, very fast if ordering from the lunch specials. Their moo shu pork is only offered with a dinner menu, but that's fine with me, it was worth it to get that amazing sauce! I'm used to everything being served separately, rather than rolled into the pancake for me, but that was less messy. And the portion size was big, so 1 enjoyed there and 1 to be enjoyed tomorrow. I also ordered one to go to deliver to my mom, the kitchen very kindly waited to start it so it was ready exactly when we were ready to pay the bill and leave, and was packaged well so still hot once home. Will definitely visit again!

This is a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant. You may pass it and don't even realize it's sitting over there. Came here on a Wednesday around 6:30. When we walked in there was just one other couple there so plenty of seating and no wait without reservations. The server was nice, a little hard to understand but nice. The food came out quickly and it was nice size portions. The food doesn't taste like your typical Chinese food. They put a different type of spice or something. Their chicken also really tastes like chicken. Sometimes you know with Chinese food it can be a little rubbery but this place does a good job with theirs. Price point a little higher than normal but not crazy. Parking is free also and there is plenty of it. If you live in the area it's worth stopping. If you have to drive a long way, maybe not worth the drive.

Today I ordered some egg rolls for takeout. I went and picked it up and the lady at the register was super friendly and polite. The last time I was here I ordered Hunan beef and it was really good much better than the place down the street that I ordered from. The restaurant is a little small inside but there were plenty of people enjoying lunch, nice atmosphere. I will order from here again. Just a little update. I still love the food here. This is my favorite go-to chinese food in the city :)

Korean sweet and sour pork

China garden not only serves American style Chinese food but also Korean Chinese food. In korea, Chinese immigrants opened restaurants and served Korean styled Chinese food which is slightly different from the mainland. Black noodle and Jjambbong are the most popular items. If you want these Korean style dishes, you have to ask the server that you specifically want the Korean food menu. Also Korean pickled radish and kimchi are served only by the request. This is a good place when you have a craving for Korean style Chinese food.

This is a destination for fresh, delicious Chinese food. The portion sizes are ample and I love the variety. The lunch specials are wonderfully affordable at $7.95-8.95.

We are from California just passing through. The food is amazing. The prices are good, the place is clean and they are very friendly. They even have my favorite radio station playing in the background

I love this place, it is family owned seat down Chinese restaurant, one of the last few Indy, they have been operating for 31 years and the guy that started it is still running it. Their food is good and they have great rotating dinner specials, the servings are huge! I can say that 2 dinner orders can feed 3-4 people depends on how hungry you are. I suggest getting their Mongolian beef because it is delicious. All their food is made to order so don't expect your food to be brought out within 3 mins. This place is kind of old so the decor is a little bit outdated still homely though. Food 9/10 Service 8/10 Atmosphere 6.5/10

Even with the springtime rush making the parking a bit of a challenge, the atmosphere inside is wonderfully inviting. I managed to snag a darling little corner for myself, and the energy was just perfect. The hospitality here is truly top-tier; both the cashier and the gentleman behind the counter are simply lovely. My waiter was beyond charming and presented a menu with an impressive array of sophisticated choices everything from Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup to Steamed Eggplant and Beef Pancakes, with most entrees beautifully priced between $15 and $20. I decided on the Beef Noodle Soup ($12), and oh my goodness it arrived in a mere ten minutes! Talk about impeccable service. The broth was divine, and the meatballs were prepared to perfection. I was so caught up in the moment that I completely forgot to snap a photo before finishing every last bite! It was an absolute triumph of a meal. I am officially obsessed and will most certainly be back with my camera ready next time

One notable exception on the northwest edge of town is Tian Fu. It's in a residential area, in strip mall, with convenient parking. Tian Fu offers authentic Chinese and Japanese (sushi) food. For this day and age, and considering the quality and quantity of the food, the prices were reasonable, and a good value: Soup Dumpling $10.95; Shanghai Rice Cake 11.95; Old Mama's Pickled Pepper Fish $18.95; and Golden Tofu $13.95. The food was great. We would return. Note: there is a similarly named restaurant on the eastern edge of Indy. Not sure if it's under the same ownership. It's on E Washington Street, just west of Rt 465.

Not a happy face anywhere. Our waiter arrived in about 20min to take drink orders. Food arrived, dish by dish, for the next 1.5 hours. The food was mostly OK. Perhaps it's not a Larson cartoon (Crisis clinic on fire, about to go over some waterfalls), but it came close. The food as not bad; it was OK, nothing above average. I wish I could say better because my sister thinks it's fine.... until her meal arrived somewhat cold, ninety-minutes after we sat. It was mostly empty by the time we left; restaurants are a tough business, especially on Christmas. Will we be there next Christmas? Nope.

It's so much more convenient than driving all the way to the northwest side of Indy. I've been on the hunt for solid American-Chinese food and anything close to more traditional Cantonese-style dishes. Still searching overall, but Tian Fu definitely has some pretty solid options. I specifically go out of my way for their Beef Stir-Fried Rice Noodles (Beef Chow Fun), which I haven't been able to find anywhere else in the city. The noodles have great texture and flavor, and it totally scratches that craving. I also really liked their fried marinated chicken wings, perfect mix of crispy skin and flavorful. I've heard they have a separate Chinese menu you can request, which makes me even more curious to dine in sometime and explore more of their offerings. Overall, I'd recommend them for the variety alone, easily one of the better Chinese food spots in the city, especially if you're on the east side and want something reliable for takeout.

The orange chicken was really good - like, I'd order that again without hesitation. They give you plenty! I don't even know how I'm going to eat all the leftovers. I was expecting the small to be... well, small. Anyway. The pepper steak was just okay. It lacked flavor for me. And of course, lots of giant peppers instead of slicing them down...and a crap ton of veggies without much steak. But that's typical. The shrimp fried rice... Tasteless. I don't usually like to add more soy sauce to my food (and I didn't), but you're gonna need to drizzle the sauce from one of the other meals onto it or SOMETHING because homegirl was tasteless. Disappointing. The shrimp and broccoli was fine - exactly what you'd expect. Everything was packaged well, so I'd say attentive service for takeout. Not sure what it looks like on the inside/bathrooms/cleanliness, etc. since we did takeout, but I would go back for the orange chicken unless I find a place with better + solid shrimp fried rice. P.S. Remember when they used to automatically put eggs in the fried rice without you having to pay extra? I miss those days.
