My last review of Egg Roll King was like 7 years ago, so I thought maybe it was time to just give them another try. My usual take out place was closed for some reason as well. It's been awhile since they had to close because of a fire, but maybe it's better now. It looks like they cook food to order, so the food isn't out like a cafeteria like they do at Panda Express. I hope the portions are better than Panda! Inside it actually looks very clean and neat, more clean than my usual place. I just kept things simple and got the General Chicken and a small order of chow mien. The order cam out fairly fast and the box felt heavy, so that's a good thing. Prices weren't too bad either, the menu is posted online. I'm surprised they have more selections than I thought they might have. I got the food home and it was still hot. The General Chicken looked as good as any place and the noodles, well, looked like noodles. All in all, I'm glad I gave Egg Roll King a try after all these years. read more

Overall mediocre Chinese food. Nothing had enough sauce and nothing had great flavor. All served fresh to order though. And there is a drive-thru. Busy place. I liked the cream cheese egg roll and sweet & sour sauce. It's like a Rangoon, but roll shaped, no crab or anything, just cream cheese. I ordered combo plate w/orange chicken (just ok) & sesame chicken-I thought the sauce tasted ketchup-y. The chow mein is ok, basic,no vege, no meat. The fried rice is Very plain. No meat, just like 2 peas. No flavor. Mongolian beef is ok, not much beef and mostly consists of white onions! Didn't like the green bell pepper beef- no flavor, not enough beef ratio. I had driven past for so many years and finally stopped and tried their food. So much better than I was expecting! Everything I got was freshly prepared to order and came surprisingly quickly. Broccoli with garlic sauce was just how I like it: crisp with a lot of garlic! I ordered it with the plain white rice, which was not too sticky or too dry. A huge amount of food for the price! I also ordered popcorn chicken, egg rolls, and the spring rolls - again, perfectly fried to order. The sweet/sour sauce that accompanied was not too sweet - well balanced. Ok, so this isn't my regular review......I did the drive through. First off, the name is spot on! One of the better egg rolls I have ever had, and they are truly abundant! I also had a combo with noodles, rice, and general tso.......it was delightful. Great veg, interesting sauce, and a great amount of food. Order your American Chinese favorites, I'm confident this presentation will be a fresh and exciting experience. Make certain to get some extra chili sauce, and their hot mustard........both of these are true standouts. When I go through Red Bluff again, this will absolutely be my go to stop! read more

This place has really improved in their flavor profile, quality, and customer service lately. We pick up food from this place on a regularly basis and have really noticed a positive change. We originally thought that egg roll king was going to be sketchy because the exterior isn't very inviting and it got such low reviews on yelp. HOWEVER, we personally thought that the place did not deserve all the hate. The inside was actually really clean and polished. The food came really fast, and the portions are large. Great bang for your buck. We got 3 combos and 1 beef chow mein. The sweet and sour chicken looks a bit sketchy, but it was really crispy and tasty, along with the chow mein and the Mongolian beef. Fried rice was a bit bland and the broccoli beef had waay to much sauce, but other than that, this place was great! Looked on the menu under the heading Vegetables and ordered Orange Tofu. Then it says A la Carte or Combo. So I order it as a combo with half chow mein half fried rice. When I got the order it came with fried chicken. When I pointed this out the order taker said that the combos come with chicken. I did not see that anywhere on the menu. I told him it should be posted on the menu, especially for vegetarian items. While they were apologetic they did not offer to fix the order. I'm posting this to help this business achieve: better communication and better basic customer service. read more

Been back many times. Their portions are out of this world! I can eat one ala carte entree for 2-3 meals. Kai, who only works the weekends, is quiet but hilarious. Tip him well! They don't make much per hour so the tips go a long way to make up for it. read more

I've been meaning to stop here every time I drive through Redding but never have! Today was the day I finally did it! I ordered a Combination Sushi Bowl and an order of egg rolls ((2 rolls). The prices were beyond decent and the food was both quick and delicious! I must admit I wasn't sure about eating raw fish from a typically Chinese food joint but they did it well! The rice was hot and the fish was cold. Plus I got enough variety of fish, shredded imitation crab, edamame, cucumber and corn that it paired well together! The veggie egg rolls were HOT and extra crispy and came with sweet and sour sauce. However, the best part about the visit was the service. They were really busy so I didn't bother them to ask for a glass of water after I began eating. However, between customers the gentleman at the counter asked if I would like some and I needed anything else? I'm not used to that at a quick order type of place.!! The inside was very clean and the prep area was clean and well organized too. Bathroom was very clean! I usually have a good experience here but I ordered the garlic shrimp and it was just gross. The flavor was good but firstly, it was so much breading you could barely find the shrimp. And secondly they stanch it in so much sauce by the time I got home less than 5 mins away it was literally MUSH. Me and the girls were really looking forward to eating Egg Roll King again. We waxed nostalgic and kept repeating "holitwebo" over and over til 5 mins turned into 20. Dam they're even slower than they were before. Sadly she didn't say holitwebo......but "keep it level" instead and that's when I knew....yup you can't ever go back home. Oh well. I think a lot of it is because we're spoiled with Chinese/Asian food options now. We have Lucky, the NAG, Maple Garden, The China Doll, Thai House and and now Momo and Shige's Ikkyu......and all of them are very good and way faster. Ordered two combo plates (comes with, orange chicken, side of choice, fried rice and chowmein). What we received was not combo plates, one plate had orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken and chow mein. The other plate had just sweet n sour chicken and chow mein. Im just confused as to why one plate has two things in total, and the other had three in total. I was really wanting fried rice and higly dissapointed for paying the combo plate prices as its more then what we ended up receiving.The chowmein also has a really bad chemical taste and they also didnt add utensils, soy sauce or fortune cookies even though they asked us if we wanted all of that. Ordered pork fu yung and Mongolian beef. The portion of pork fu yung was generous but it had a fake smoke flavor. I dont associate smoke fLavor with Chinese food. It was overwhelming and it tasted like liquId smoke. The sauce was tasty for a few bites before it became a sodium bomb. The mongolian beef was very good but the portion was anemic. The fried rice was simply not fried. It was steamed rice with some egg. No peas, carrots or meat, and it was pure white. Steamed rice white. Since i loved them so much in past i will give it another try but this meal was not representative of good chinese food. Mediocre st best. They need to get their shit together.
