Made a quick stop during a road trip and was nice to get a salad bag and smoothies for the road. It was a bit like a maze with the layout but similar looking to a Smart & Final, in my opinion. The prices were pretty good, it was pretty clean, and you didn't have to buy huge sizes (clearly only bought a few items). Really not much else in this shopping center. The employees here do wear masks but some of their patrons DO NOT!!! I was shocked when I saw this as it's not taken lightly in many places. They need to enforce it strictly because it's people like that who are spreading COVID to the rest of us. By not wearing a mask in public you are basically indicating you are more superior to everyone else. This fight against COVID is a COLLECTIVE one. Please do your part as many counties and cities have already enforced this fully and with citations. I would not shop here until everyone is safely social distanced and keeping RESPIRATORY droplets from entering the aisles you walk on. I had to avoid the aisles where patrons had no mask on and it was frustrating as every other aisle had a few maskless ones. I'm not from the area as I was just charging my car but seeing how this has been an occurring issue from other reviews your manager and field directors need to do something stat! After 14 overrides in self checkout for 20 items Jaime (mgr) yells at other mgr about my case of potatoes. Mind you she's checking out clients on another register and my $20 box of potatoes was the first thing I rang up. So other manager adds a second box. I'm like remove it and look at my receipt. Jaime proceeds to scream at me. I'm like if you want to step over and look over my shoulder then do so. She proceeded to keep screaming. I gave five stars for their food price , which was pretty low and it even cheaper than Costco . However , their staff ( actually the cashier there ) deduct 4 stars and they may need to pay attention their attitude . We stopped in since we were charging the car and needed to use the restroom on our road trip. (It seems similarly to the warehouse supermarket like WinCo). Prices seems reasonable. There were no organic produce which I was hoping for some organic fruit. I picked up some fruit anyways. There were no signs or enforcement of mask wearing so customers weren't wearing masks. (We did have masks on.) This seems to be common in most places we stopped but we can't help it while traveling so we just have to be careful ourselves. read more

It's a warehouse grocery store. They've got most of the stuff most grocery stores have and some of the stuff others don't. The real reason I'm reviewing Foodmaxx are the perishable departments. The regular grocery part is very typical but the Produce and Meat are worth the trip to Foodmaxx. Starting with produce, since thats where you'll be when you enter the store. It's always fresh and always priced lower than the other guys. This produce dept. is right up there in quality with Raley's or Safeway. Sure they don't have the fancy track lighting or thunder sound before the water comes on but they have fresh fruit and veggies for less. This produce dept makes winco and walmart look like child's play. Put that together with a great staff and it's a win. Basically the same story with the meat. The butchers are knowledgable and friendly. The dept is fresh and easy to find exactly what you need. They even have a seafood show set up once or twice a month if you're a seafood lover. And just like the produce it's the lowest price in the area. read more

Cool grocery store located in Red Bluff A cross between Smart N Final and Food For Less. As a traveler I the areas I really appreciated the selection and fair prices. Clean spacious store where you didn't need a club card for savings (another big plus). Add in ample parking and a friendly staff and it all adds up to a 4 star rating. read more

I went to Foodmaxx Red Bluff today, and about half of the employees were no wearing masks. Also, half of the customers did not, which means the store does not enforce mask wearing. At the checkout, one cashier was not wearing a mask at all, while the other one had her nose out. I confronted one employee and told him that he should wear a mask. He threatened to throw me out. I left without buying anything, and I will not spend another dollar at Foodmaxx again, ever. And neither should you. These people are carelessly risking the lives of their employees and customers. This is even more remarkable considering that they had to close a store in San Jose in March after one of their employees died of Covid-19. They deserve to go out of business, and I sure hope they will. They have 200 outlets in California, and apparently no coherent or responsible policy on Covid-19. Food Maxx kind of like a Costco grocery store. They have a lot more variety of foods than Costco and the prices are pretty good! Going in there is a bit weird as it's a maze you have to enter at one end. It forces you through the produce, dairy and meat sections.... then allows you to zigzag the aisles the checkout. I bought a big container of apple juice, some jello (You did you know that lime jello is the only one that is naturally flavored? ) and chicken broth. They had about 4 different types of chicken broth! I'd go to the one n Santa Rosa - but I'm not sure it's worth the long drive across town. read more

I just wish two things: 1) Please organize the store so it make sense (baby items and incontenance products with the bread and crackers for example); and 2) turn of the music or fix it. It cuts out every other word and makes me nuts to listen to while shopping. OH and bonus 3) Self checkout machines are in desperate need of repair or updating. I don't know how long they'll stay open when the WalMart Supper Center opens up. I am a Sr. Citizen and disabled. I had to beg them to send a bagger once when I had pneumonia. Their prices aren't so great any way, and there is no customer service. Once I fell in the store, I slipped on a grape on their slick floors. Plenty of people saw, and the manager chastised me for not watching where I was going. Most people don't watch the floor when shopping, they look at the shelves to find what they need. I like the newer store layout here, as the store is now more broken into different sections, with convenient shortcuts to just grab what you need, rather than having to follow their old floorplan's path, and hike through the store just to grab a loaf of bread and milk. They have also really acquired a bigger variety of products. I gave three stars because it appears that their prices have also jumped up considerably. I suppose to pay for all of the remodeling? I also deducted stars because they still suffer from the same challenges that they always have...not enough check stands are ever open, even on busy days. I've seen two, maybe three cashiers at the most in there, trying hard to get through a mile long line of customers, as well as customers who have carts that are piled to the ceiling with groceries. The self checkout has really helped with this situation, however you cannot purchase alcohol in these things, so if you are in there to pick up a case of beer or a bottle of wine, you're stuck in a line of 20 people. Something else that could also solve this issue, is to have a dedicated check stand for 10 items or less. Other than that, decent grocery store, with friendly employees (some) and a large variety. read more

I go to FoodMaxx at least 2 times a week. There is a particular employee, James W., that recognizes me & always greets me with a genuine smile & asks is there something he can help me with. He is always so willing to go the extra mile to make sure I am taken care of! Being disabled it's hard to reach some things & James not only reachs what I need with a smile, he has brought the heavy things to a register for me knowing it's very difficult for me to get those things up on the conveyor belt. He is not just doing this for me, he always helps anyone that needs help with anything. Wish you had more employees like him. Excellent customer service with everything & all the time! I always look for him if I need help as he always genuinely cares about the customers & takes pride in the great job he does! He deserves a raise in my book. I tell my friends & family to look for him for all their needs as he is the best at true customer service. read more

I have lived in Red Bluff for three years and Food Maxx is my grocery of choice. Great prices, although the meat is a little pricey, as they tend to package it for large families. The staff, especially the cashiers, are always friendly and smiling, except for one named Tandy, whom I think acutally works in the office, and is ocasionally forced to walk down the stairs and run a register....and she will always show the frustration and disgust on her face too........not a people person. I do wish that they would follow Raley's cue though and utilize a self checkout for shoppers with only one or two items. The place tends to get very crowded, with big families, and make for long lines at the checkout. read more

Been single male for 8 years and learned to shop thrifty without giving up quality and good service. Food Max in Red Bluff is my go to store. Can't beat the produce quality and prices. Meat, a little high but who isn't. Staff, the best, never a complaint from me. They seem to enjoy working there. My dad was a meat cutter for Safeway for 42 years so Safeway (especially the 50's and 60's) was like family and I still feel at home there, they just can't beat the prices of Food Max, without giving up quality, and that is essential to a single person on a fixed income. Both are wonderful but Food Max gets my vote. read more

Great produce section just like a Win Co. Aisles are wide and tall making it a bit hard to find stuff. Folks seem in a rush here, get out the way! Customer service - eh not great. Said hello to cashier to get a judgmental look in return. Was surprised since so many have commented on the service here. Being different was probably the reason for the cold shoulder.
