If you're looking for anything olive related and grown right here im California this is your spot! I couldn't wait to stop in and sample some olives, olive oil and balsamic vinegar since these are staples in our household and we were running low. This place was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon but there was plenty of room to move around with organized shelves, some cute decor items for sale also. We sampled several different types of olives, my favorite was the bluecheese stuffed. I wished they had more types of olive oil out to sample as only had the regular a butter flavored, but both were tasty. I decided to try a 4 flavor olive oil set for around $30 and am confident all will taste just fine. We walked around and loaded our cart with a variety of olives, olive oil, marmalade, and balsamic vinegar. To those of you wishing to venturing on California Interstate 5 (southbound from Redding or northbound from Sacramento), I highly recommend checking out the Tehama County city of Corning will you find one its most prominent and visited attractions, the "Olive Pit". Ever since opening their doors back in 1967, thousands of people have walked through these doors to purchase some amazing jars of olives, olive oils, vinegars, garlic, jams, and everything in between. Getting here (from I-5) couldn't be any easier as it is only 1 mile from the interstate. During my visit (which was the afternoon of Sunday 3/9/2025 from 3:45-4:15pm), there was ample parking which made walking up to the main entrance relatively easy. They also offer very large parking spaces for RV's, motorhomes, and big rigs. Normal business hours are every day from 8:00am-5:00pm. Upon entry, there are two dedicated areas where the space is occupied. The "restaurant/cafe" area offers a nice variety of breakfast entrees (served until 11:00am), coffee/espresso, sandwiches, and burgers. However, if you ever get the chance, give their "Signature" shakes a try as they are all infused with their own Olive Pit vinegars as they carry a large variety to choose from. Next time I venture this way, I'll try a vinegar shake to taste as good as people say. As for the main shopping area (think of it as a general store), this is where you can purchase everything to take home. In addition to the items I mentioned (in the first paragraph), they also offer complimentary olive and olive oil tastings. Even though I didn't eat in the restaurant area, I bought several items including Olio Nuovo Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar, and Tomato Preserves Jam. The selection here is quite vast so I would recommend browsing every aisle to find exactly what you're looking for. All in all, "Olive Pit" will win the hearts for people who love everything olive-related. This includes myself as I use it for cooking while being more on the health-conscious side as an upgrade and alternative to canola & vegetable oil. My rating, an above average four stars. read more

I reached out to the Olive Pit, expecting them to make things right. They promised a resolution, and the solution they provided was a $5 off coupon. For a product I paid $11 for that was completely unusable, a $5 coupon is an insult. It doesn't even cover shipping costs for a replacement product. I wasn't asking for anything extravagant, just a simple replacement for the inedible almonds. As a long-time, dedicated customer, this response has completely soured my opinion of the Olive Pit. I've always supported them, but after this, I'll be rethinking how I speak about the Olive Pit to others. October 8, 2024 Our first time here, but it definitely won't be our last. Wonderful stop to break up a long drive along I-5. Great parking lot with spaces for RVs and trucks. Nice little cafe and gift store filled with olives and other treats. We entered the cafe section and ordered the Muffuletta sandwich to split. (Muffuletta Sandwich - Olive Pit Muffuletta Olive Mix, ham, salami and provolone cheese, served on ciabatta roll, $13.99). We chose to have it heated, rather than served cold. I love how they served it on two plates for us, instead of just cutting it in half on serving it on one. Way extra points for that. We both enjoyed the sandwich and thought it was very good. Now, after lunch, it was time to wander over to the olive section and taste some olives. Oh, wow, so many types to try! Good thing we split that sandwich, the massive olives fill you up quickly. We decided on our favorites, and commenced to shopping. Decided that these olives will make GREAT Christmas gifts, and so ended up buying gift bags, 10 jars of olives, and a jar of pumpkin butter. Came here for the RV parking and other reviews and pictures showing they had breakfast items. They have one of those. RV Parking is as advertised. Nice pull through spots. As far as breakfast...nope. We were informed they "don't do breakfast" and "those must be old photos". So we settled for early lunch for the kids and mediocre coffee. House coffee, dark roast, is decent but my wife's latte was very watery. This place has potential and I'm sure others like it just fine but we won't be back. read more

I'm not sure what the meat or the cooking method was, but nothing about was appealing or good. When my wife asked how they were cooked. She was told" They are put through a machine." I had a side of tots which I would think would be easy enough to get right but they were all so bad. Not sure how you make them and burn some and get some undercooked but they managed. Made a quick pit stop here for a quick break and saw they serve food! You order at the counter and then wait for your number to be called. Quick ordering process and the cashier was very nice. We ordered a chocolate shake and a seasonal gingerbread shake along with a muffuletta burger. The burger and shakes were amazing! The shakes were thick and not extremely sweet. They have a TON of unique flavored shakes (lemon olive oil, blueberry balsamic, cranberry balsamic, etc.) The burger was a great size to share and very flavorful with the muffuletta mix on a soft ciabatta roll. They have excellent parking for large rigs, so we pulled in. We were hungry, so first order of business was lunch. We got the Muffuletta Sandwich on Ciabatta bread that came with a few different slices of Italian meats, provolone cheese, and an amazing olive tapenade. Yum! The service was fast and friendly. The dining area was clean, modern, and inviting. But wait! There's more! After lunch, we checked out their store that has more types of green olive types that you can shake an olive branch at - stuffed blue cheese olives, jalapeno olives, Cuban-style olives, and many more. They have several types of olive oil as well. They have an olive and olive oil tasting bar as well - at least 15 different tasting choices. In addition to olives and olive oil, the have wines, ports, and other things that go well with olives. This is a great place to create your own olive gift basket as well. Prices are reasonable. Stopped here after many years of stopping here with friends and family. I wasn't sure what to expect for the cafe food. They had a ton of olive selections and stuff for sampling. We ordered the bacon jam burger and bistro turkey sandwich. The burger was good but didn't come with a side and we forget to add one on the side. The bistro turkey's pesto spread I didn't care for, it was sun-dried tomato but tasted mostly briny? Or some flavor that I wasn't expecting and it somewhat ruined the sandwich. The cheese, turkey and bread were still good. I liked the condiment bar. I was able to add condiments and lettuce, tomato, and onion. They also offered delicious milkshakes made with balsamic vinegar and flavors. We do not really care for overly balsamic flavor but our strawberry balsamic milkshake was delicious! I bought a jar of artichoke tomato spaghetti sauce for myself. I had some tonight, and it was delicious. I also bought a jar of local honey and a jar of almond butter for a friend of mine. If you want, they will ship. Prices in the store and at the restaurant were very reasonable. The only thing to remember, is they can get very busy during peak times. I was there the day after the Fourth of July at lunchtime. It took me almost 10 minutes to get to the order station, and it took a little while to get my food. I didn't mind though.
