Unfortunately the carne asada is the worst I've ever ordered... they claimed it was skirt steak but not close. This flat meat was the chewiest I've ever had and was not edible. Generally a nice restaurant and some nice entrees but poor management and crap meat imo read more

Just got home from Carlitos Mexican Restaurant in Red Bluff. I make the 20 mile drive 2 to 3 times each month and it is well worth it. There is not any Mexican restaurant in the Redding or Red Bluff area. The place is always very clean and the servers are so friendly. There is young lady that will come every 5 or 10 to see if there is anything that I need. I always get a Chili Relleno. One of my daughters always tells me that I need to get something different. So today I did. I ordered the Shrimp Fajita, and when it came, I couldn't believe how large it was. There was enough for 2 people. It was served on a sizzling platter and a large plate. I brought home enough for another meal. I may have to change my favorite dish. read more

Authentic, definitely! I yelped "Local Favorites" while visiting recently and Carlitos was front and center. We were looking for a good margarita and some chips and salsa midday before the graduation party we would be attending. Curb appeal is not the best, located in a strip mall. But once we stepped in the front door, we were transported to the courtyard of a Mexican village. Host was most pleasant and we were seated in a comfy and private booth. I ended up ordering a carne asada taco a La carte. It came quickly and I enjoyed every authentic bite. Margaritas were yummy and refreshing and a second helping of chips and salsa left us feeling satisfied and pleasantly surprised. Don't miss this hidden gem if you are in the area! read more

Party of 7 shows up a Carlitos... they're able to accommodate us right away! Long story short... celebrating a birthday with the family and the team at Carlitos really stepped up. They tossed I giant sombrero on the birthday boy, gathered to serenade him, and handed him a birthday shot! The food was fantastic- a huge variety for us to choose from and no one was disappointed. I ordered the fajitas and subbed the shrimp for carnitas. Yum! I was the DD, but was told the Mai Tai's, strawberry daiquiris and all their other cocktails were phenomenal. Their pricing was also very reasonable considering the huge portions of foods. Drinks were a great deal too! Thanks to the team at Carlitos for a great evening! read more

Stopped by late on a road trip and it was amazing! Had a very kind waitress who was great.

Another excellent experience at this wonderful restaurant. We mostly get takeout and they are always prompt with very plentiful portions.

I've dined here on just a handful of occasions. I'm basing my review on the last time I visited, since the time before that was years ago. The décor inside is beautiful. You feel like you've stepped foot inside a charming Mexico town scene. The colors and drawings really pull you in. That's what I like about dining here. You feel like you've been transported somewhere else while you eat. The food here is reasonable for the price, I'd say. I liked their complimentary chips and salsa. But I always like chips and salsa. I mean, who doesn't? However I need to note that their salsa had something to it that made it stand out compared to others I've tried at different Mexican restaurants. I ordered the 3-item plate and my choices were: 1 tostada and 2 enchiladas. Beans and rice accompanied them. The tostada could've been better, was good, but it was a little sloppy. The enchiladas, on the other hand, were fine, not great, not terrible. Beans and rice tasted fine. The service could've been better. Our waitress was slow and after serving us ice cold drinks, she served us lukewarm equivalents when we asked for refills. She also brought our food out to us at awkward intervals, which made dining uncomfortable and made a crowded table. The last time I was here, our waitress was on it and we had great service. That was what disappointed me. I'd probably give this restaurant 3 1/2 stars. Normally I round up, not down, however the service was the reason why I've chosen to round down. Luckily, I like the restaurant enough to return, so I'll be back. There are some other dishes I'd like to try. Just hope for better service. read more

Called in our order from the road .....easy, ready in 15 minutes, hostess & phone order taker were pleasant. However: Cons: Tightness of burrito roll: LOOSE. Asked for WHOLE BEANS and received refried....No bueno for me. Chips were fresh but so/so- I prefer a THICK chip Plastic, polystyrene containers utensils, & straws. Pros: My chili relleno burrito flavor was deep and delicious...& there's my 5 's ... it's what counts Guacamole seemed like the real deal and was also delicious. I live 15 min from town. First thing was when I got there, as the employee read my receipt to me, I noticed that the queso I ordered wasn't on the receipt, the girl even asked me what size I wanted when I placed my order, when I got there they say they don't have queso. I would have ordered elsewhere had I been told. Then I asked for 2 strawberry virgin margaritas, ended up with 2 lemon ones. I didn't even say anything at this point because I was already frustrated. Now I get home and they have messed up our food order. I don't even know what one of the meals is.... A bunch of red sauce and some chicken pieces. Definitely will never take my business there again... plenty of other options in red bluff. read more

On road to Lassen, this restaurant is in a great location and stopped for lunch take out. The staff are super friendly and lot of options on the menu (Tacos are not in the menu but always available!). I went for the jorge's burrito and a great choice it was - loaded with shrimp mushroom and super creamy sauce. I'd be a regular if they were close-by but oh well, will definitely stop by anytime on this route! read more

I had my birthday dinner at Carlito's recently and the experience was very positive and satisfying. The menu is extensive, the food was excellent, the portions generous, the service was outstanding as well, very welcoming! Absolutely the best tortilla chips ever, warm and crispy with a great salsa! We had no reservation for our party, but we were seated immediately and without problem. They put a hat on me and sang Happy Birthday, and gave me a wonderful dessert to mark the occasion. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, clean and inviting. A great place to take out-of-town guests. I made the comment to my party as to how nice everything was, and my party agreed completely with my assessment, and that I planned on returning soon. Carlito's was not the original plan for the dinner, but problems at the original choice caused us to move to another restaurant at the last minute, and I was very pleased with the outcome of the whole affair, it really couldn't have been a more positive experience! It is hard to find a great mexican restaurant with just about everything, but Carlito's delivers. This is not fancy mexican. It is big plate, high value, family oriented Mexican, with lots of "plate" specials to try. With friendly service and a great bunch of waitresses, and I even saw the manager our first time in. Our second visit we found their awesome Chile Relleno which my wife said was the best CR she had had in many a year. Great sauce, freshly made, not too much cheese and just piping hot and good. There is a lot to try here as the menu is very big and the bar is fully stocked too. I had an $8 shot of Cazadores Blanco Tequila to finish off my rich Camarones wrapped in bacon, which was a massive treat at $16. Definitely consider this place, even though it is in a somewhat rundown dollar store shopping center. It is far better than its surroundings would have you believe. Great RV parking too, as this shopping center is not very busy. So when we go camping we choose Carlito's. After a couple of tries at this place, not every plate is a 5 star winner, but I would say most of them are, just on price and size alone. Not to mention the awesome fast from the kitchen. This place is the real deal in far off of Red Bluff. It's a large authentic Mexican restaurant with a spacious interior tastefully done colorful wood and tile. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. We were seated quickly and offered complementary chips and salsa while you order drinks and peruse the extensive menu. There is something for everyone from traditional Mexican fare like burritos etc to all the specialty soups and meats. The menu is huge. We got combination plates with some customized fixings like whole beans extra spicy hot sauce , our server was very accommodating and engaging. The food arrived very quickly and was super, everybody left happily stuffed. No room for the flan on offer but I'd Definitely go out of my way to come back here if I was in the area. It's as good or better than many Mexican restaurants in the City. read more

Large, colorful restaurant with booths, tables and a bar located in a strip mall plaza. Complimentary Chips and Salsa were brought over. There's a "healthy section" of the menu that is the veganizable section if any.. just omit the dairy. They do a tableside guacamole.. I didn't see it on the menu but there was a little promo for beer on the table that suggested it with the tableside guac.. but, I just wanted a small side without the show-- $2.99 Everyone was nice, they played Reggaeton and Selena, the food was decent.. 3 stars read more
