Ok let me say this was the first time ever being I. This town and looked at reviews to find it!! The place is a little cute place and the service from the super nice lady was great ! If you like great authentic Mexican food La Plaza is for you. Basic, nothing fancy, somewhat rundown restaurant and it was hard for me decide what number to rate them. I gave them a five only because of the wonderful food. Nice people work here however don't expect cloth napkins, or beer on tap or even a cold glass for your bottled beer. We went there for dinner on a Saturday night at 5:30 and besided us there were only 3 other tables with customers (all were Mexicans which suggested to me that the food would be great, which it was). You place your order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. When done you pay at the counter and if using a credit card the procession machine is all in Spanish, no English and there isn't a place on it for a tip. Husband and I stopped here on our road trip back home. After hiking in the morning and having mediocre food from Shasta I was coming in hungry . La Plaza is a clean, nice family environment with lots of traditional plates. As a LA born kid I always play it safe and choose Tacos on road trips so I ordered 2 Tacos de Asada with a side of Rice and Beans and WOW.... From the minute my fingers touched that homemade tortilla I knew I had found my new place when traveling back up to Mt.Shasta . A few things ... Don't sell your appetite short , order 2+ (they are not your average tiny pre made street tortilla size) Don't (I repeat) don't dismiss when they give you the warning that the delicious salsa brought with the tacos is HOT as they aren't lying. Don't hesitate on ordering a side of rice and beans .. they taste just like grandma made them. Thank you Ricardo for the delicious food hospitality. Some of the best tacos I've ever had on the west coast. Including Oakland and LA. HANDMADE TORTILLAS!!! Honestly unless the tortillas are handmade I disregard a taco spot. I will be back on my next i5 trip for more bomb tacos. A few blocks off the 5, it's worth the journey! read more

I'll just say this food wasn't cooked when l we ordered. It was all microwaved and not fresh at all. Chips tasted old and very hard to eat. Nothing was in English to explain what's on each plate. Home made tortillas was good but everything else no at all good. Freezer burn meat in my wife burrito was awful. I had high hopes that crash and burn quickly. read more
