Maple garden is still my most fave Chinese restaurant for take out in Red Bluff. They have all the usual dishes, already mad in steam strays like at a buffet, it's just not all you can eat!. They'll dish you out the food and the portions are super generous, they stuff the box all the way. I you don't see what you want, they can probably custom make the dish for you, like curry noodles, or chow fun noodles. That's what I did, just ask and they'll make fresh food for you and the prices are cheaper than any sit down restaurant these days. Better to bring cash here I think. This place was awesome! We were passing through town staying at a hotel nearby. My kids weren't in the mood to sit down anywhere so we found this little place. This place actually has pretty damn good Chinese food.... not something I would have expected in the Belle Mill plaza in Red Bluff, across from Food Maxx. The portions are MASSIVE, and I always catch the ever-cheerful front counter lady packing in as much as she can, and shoving the box closed. The food is freshly prepared unless you order from one of the ready-made, popular dishes in the hot buffet up front. I've never been disappointed with a single order from here, and I'm even a fan of the chow mein (which I'm not usually fond of anywhere). Highly recommend the Triple Mongolian! Maple Garden is right across the parking lot from where I work. So from time to time I stop in for lunch. Their food was good but over the last year or so each time i have frequented MG I had wished I hadn't. I love Chinese food and it's very conveniently located so I seem to get drawn back but then end up telling myself not to go back. Here's the good. - The owners are awesome! They are very friendly. - Price is very reasonable. - Portion size is over the top. (this is a plus assuming the food is good) Now the not so good. - Atmosphere is really bad. They don't use the air conditioning, so it's usually like an oven in there. It's just not an inviting atmosphere in any way. I recommend take out. - They don't have fountain soft drinks or ice. If you want a soft drink it's gonna be from a can. - Portion size is huge and trust me you'll be sorry if you finish it. So if you've only got five bucks and you're craving a massive plate of so so chinese food but you're not really thirsty and you have a safe place to eat then you might want to stop in Maple Garden for lunch. Went to this restaurant last night about 9:00 pm almost time for closing and the place was busy. The lady behind the counter still had a big smile on her face as she greeted the customers. Seems like she knows all the names of the customers. Amazing. I ordered my food - chicken fried rice, broccoli beef, and hot and sour soup. Wow, they are very good. Never expected that. And when the sign on the front window says NO MSG, they really mean it. I was not thirsty or had a dry mouth feeling as other Chinese food I have eaten.
