I wish I could give the Egg House 10 stars! While in Denton for a family wedding, we first went their for Friday breakfast. The food was excellent - fresh/quality ingredients, delicious coffee, incredible hash browns. We enjoyed it so much that we returned Sunday for a post-wedding breakfast and, again, as we headed to the airport on Monday morning. As good as the food is, though, the service is what really shines. The manager is kind, attentive and caring, and that is also reflected in the staff. You can taste the love in the food. Only two things wrong: It's not open for dinner, and it's 1,000 miles from home. Otherwise, I'd be there at least once a week. read more

I decided to get breakfast and found this place on yelp. I walked in and the hostess asked me how many in my party. I said one, he said it would be a few minutes. I asked where their restroom was, I noticed that the restroom floor was flooded with water. After I got seated told the waiter that the bathroom needed some attention, that it was flooded. He told me that I could leave if I was not happy with the restroom. I said no it's all right. He said no you need to leave, you are not happy with our bathroom. I said I was just letting you know that the restroom needed some attention. He say you can have a good day somewhere else. He was real polite about the whole thing, but I was not to stay and eat there. I said really? You are kicking me out because I complained about the restroom. He said, you can have a good day somewhere else and pointed to the door. I left and I was polite about the whole thing. Before I hopped on my motorcycle I noticed that my hands were shaking and I was upset about the whole thing. I got the steak skillet, the steak was not bad in flavor it was well seasoned. It was a little too buttery which made the hash browns soggy. The pancakes are nothing special they were just ok. My eggs came over hard which I asked for over easy. This could have been just miscommunication, my issue was that no one ever offered me a refill, I was only asked when I got the check to pay. Stopped in here admits the wonderful Covid-19 times. These guys were extremely personable service was great and food was top notch!! Me and my partner both stated we would make the drive back in order to eat there again. Doesn't look like much from outside, but we were pleasantly surprised! Very friendly staff. Decent coffee with several creamer options. Perfectly cooked steak unlike the typical steak and eggs you order. Tender and tasteful. The berries were fresh and plump, but you definitely need syrup for the french toast. The avocado Benedict was delightful. Just what I was craving. The muffin was toasted just right, not too crispy or undercooked. The hash browns are great for soaking up the left over egg yolk. I will NEVER a book by its cover ever again! This is a little place that doesn't look appealing on the outside, but once you are in the inside it's like an entire different place! It's very unexpected to see what you see. I had arrived before my family and they were nice enough to allow me to sit before they arrived. Most places will not seat you unless everyone is there. That was the first plus when I arrived. I certainly loved the little details of the table setup. Everything was nice and neat with choices on creamers and sugars plus my favorite the jams! What truly caught my eye was the doily with the coffee cup ready to go! I of course wanted to try their coffee! It was tasty! My family finally had arrived, we looked at the menu, and my sister (a regular) kept telling me what I should try. I kind of listened but not so much. I ended trying the chicken fried chicken with over easy eggs, hash browns and pancakes. All of that for only $11. Not too shabby. I inhaled me food because it was cooked to perfection! The chicken fried chicken had the right crunch and the gravy thick as it should be! My mom got a traditional breakfast of scrambled eggs, ham, hashbrowns, and, something I have never tired, chicken sausage links. It looked interesting and I took a small bite. I didn't want to eat all of my mom's food. I had asked her where were her pancakes, and she replied I get my favorite sweet here. I was like okay...what is it? The waitress brought out banana Nutella crêpes! I can never get past the texture but I believe my mom when she says that they are worth trying. My sister got the mixed berry crêpes and the rest the same as my mother. As we all got breakfast, of course, my son had to get a lunch entree. He isn't a breakfast eater at all. He is your typical kiddo ordering chicken tenders and fries. He know I write reviews on Yelp and he clearly told me to say they were good but not the best he has ever had. He said they are good for kids. Our waitress was amazing and very attentive to all of her tables. You could tell she loved her job and had great conversations with us. Service was fantastic. No wait around 8:30 on a Saturday morning but I saw a little line forming when we were leaving. Coffee flowing non stop and the eggs, pancakes, hash browns and chicken apple sausage were good. I'd never had chicken apple sausage before and I must say it was a tasty alternative if you don't want pork. My ex mother in law has the avocado ham sammie and she said she asked for bacon instead of ham. I didn't hear her, but she didn't end up with bacon. The ham looked pretty thick but she still enjoyed the sandwich. She asked for sourdough bread but it came out on the regular bun. I have been coming to this restaurant since they opened the doors. Today I bragged about the food and we decided to order breakfast for a work event. When I called to place an order for 6 breakfast for my team, I was told we don't do over ghettos phone orders. So I took that as I needed to be in the store to order, so I drove 20 min to walk in and place the order. When I arrived I was told we don't do to go orders you will have to box it yourself after ordering. Then I proceed to place the order and they are out of alit of items . Unfortunately it's hard to reorder for people when they are not with you. I can't believe in this day and age you don't offer to go orders. The menu is fantastically diversified with everything you can imagine from biscuits and gravy to crepes, from avocado bacon sandwiches to chorizo burritos and bowls. Coffee imported from Italy was a wonderful treat and the owner Ross was a great guy. He and our waitress, Brighton, were so sweet to my mother on her birthday. There are plenty of breakfast places. This place seems to panic if you want something changed or substituted. The best thing here is their fresh made salsa. Do yourself a favor, drive down to the great egg. They have better food, and no trouble at all with substitutions. read more

Every time I visit my daughter at UNT, we have breakfast here before I leave. The service is top notch! I have been four or five times and had nothing but the best. I visited the Egg House Cafe this morning, for the first time ever; joining me were my teenage son and pre schooler. First, let me say that the place was immaculately clean and, for those who wonder, the staff wore masks. We were also greeted immediately as we approached the door with a sign asking customers to be mindful of their smart devices and I absolutely loved that! It was 9am and a nice casual breakfast was what we were looking for! The host, also, greeted us upon entering the establishment and immediately sat us; our waitress was not far behind, taking our drink order. Our waitress was very nice and patient - as I had never been here before and so much sounded delicious, I had a hard time deciding! Lol. She was very attentive throughout the meal, refilling my coffee, and our waters; joking and laughing with us while also maintaining a decent downtime when she allowed us to eat without intrusion. It was quite but not creepy quite, just that everyone used a tone and volume that reflected being in a public setting, it wasn't loud or distracting, it had quite the cozy and relaxing atmosphere. As I said before, the entire menu, basically, had me salivating but I can tell you that their biscuits & sausage gravy were some of the best I have ordered from a brunch place - it is one of my favorite meals, a country breakfast staple and they did not disappoint; they even have it in omelette form (Biscuit and Gravy Omelette) & my son devoured it! Lol. Also, I'm super picky about my eggs (over medium but they gotta be just right... runny yolk with super cooked whites) and guess who passed my test? Even my daughter who is an extremely picky eater enjoyed their Mickey Mouse chocolate chip pancakes and bacon! This is an honest review from someone who has been coming to Egg House for about 2 years. Today was disappointing. The coffee is boring, it used to be quite delicious. And the pancakes are pale and rubbery, no doubt from a box of frozen pancakes. We were told that we got the little pancakes because we didn't order a pancake based meal, but we know for a fact it used to be a fresh made pancake (or two) when you choose them over toast. If you look at other photos of the pancakes on here you can see they were once thick fluffy and golden brown. See my photo of the pancakes we were given. The coffee sucks now. I will not waste my money here anymore. I suggest you don't either. If it is new management they should be fired. I believe the entrees are smaller too but still tastes good. read more

If I could give a zero star, I would! And honestly it has nothing to do with the food or the wait staff, because those were both terrific! It has everything to do with the most rude, arrogant, self entitled, narcissistic manager/owner? He's a middle eastern looking, middle aged, disgruntled, and unhappy man! I was there with my family on Sunday 2/12/23 which included 3 adults and 2 children. We ordered our food, it was yummy, and then went to pay at the register up front...this is where it took a strange, and completely inappropriate turn for the worse. We took the bill to the counter to pay, and my father-in-law asked the young lady at the cash register if we could split the bill 50/50 (Not a far fetched request-or at least I thought) The young lady was not sure how to do that so she said she would ask the manager. As we were waiting my father-in-law was resting his forearm on the counter, then the manager stormed up to the front and proceeded to push my father-in-laws arm away and gesture to this tiny sign (maybe 4x6 size) that states no splitting or altering tickets. He said "As you can see, we don't split or alter tickets, so no we can't split the check". My husband then says to him, "That's fine we can put it on my card, but there's no need to be condescending." then hands him his credit card to pay for the meal. The manager/owner then tosses the card on the counter and tells my husband, "No I don't need your money, please leave!" My husband tried to tell him it's ok I want to pay for the meal and the manager says "Look around I don't need your business, you can go now!" I think we were all a little shocked by his response as he escalated things very aggressively and completely uncalled for. My husband told him "That is your loss of business and my gain since I got free breakfast for my family, no skin off my back!" Then we left, after tipping our waitress (It wasn't any fault of hers). Needless to say, we will not be back, customer service is just as important as good food! Look elsewhere folks, this manager has got a chip on his shoulder the size of the grand canyon! read more

This by far my FAVORITE breakfast place in Denton. My husband and I go to breakfast every Sunday morning and have tried literally every spot in Denton - so I don't say this lightly! Not only is the food spectacular but the management, servers, and owners are friendly, helpful, and very eager to take the best care of you possible. It says a lot to me that the owner(s) are always present, walking around talking to guests and refilling coffees. On our most recent visit, I ordered the Very Berry French Toast and my husband ordered the Waffle N' More (a waffle with eggs, bacon, and sausage). It was all wonderful. Next time, I will order the french toast without the berry glaze because it was a little too sweet for me - but the mascarpone was phenomenal on top and I really have nothing bad to say. Definitely try this place the next time you're craving amazing breakfast / brunch food! read more

This place used to be our favorite restaurant for breakfast!!! Their portions and quality of food were generous and delicious. And their cleanliness and atmosphere were excellent! But something has changed. Our last four visits have brought to our attention the portions have become smaller and the food lacks the quality from the past. Examples: Hash browns portions are half what they used to be, their menu posted "generous sliced avocados" is actually 4 extremely thin slices making probably 1/8 of a whole avocado, they started to up charge for their 2 small pancakes which used to come with the meal, their omelette's used to taste so fluffy and juicy, but now they are cooked too long and have that dry hard egg taste. I recently asked for a 6oz. cup of fruit, which has been taken off the menu (why?). They delivered me a half filled 6oz. cup, and charged me $4. (What!?). And one of my favorite dishes was the steak (ribeye) skillet. They used to cook this meat to perfection. It is now cooked way too much away from medium rare and it's dry and chewy. I think their meat quality has lessened. I know that prices need to increase somewhat due to the economy that we live in, but dang, give me the same food value for the money, and a table/sears that has been wiped clean of sticky goo and crumbs. Therefore, my wife and I are looking for a new breakfast place to become our new favorite each Saturday morning. This used to be a great place, now it's on the low end of "below average." read more

We came in on a Sunday around 1pm, after the church rush and didn't have to wait more than 3 minutes. The place was packed and lively which is always a good sign. Lou was our waitress and super attentive and helped us understand the menu. The menu is fairly large for a cafe, but clearly caters to the brunch crowd. I got the "Famous for This!" Biscuits and gravy omelette and my wife got the Americanos Crepes Combo plain with a side of hollandaise sauce. The wife loved her meal. Mine was very good but lacked seasoning.
