Lou was our waitress and super attentive and helped us understand the menu. The menu is fairly large for a cafe, but clearly caters to the brunch crowd. I got the "Famous for This!" Biscuits and gravy omelette and my wife got the Americanos Crepes Combo plain with a side of hollandaise sauce. The wife loved her meal. Mine was very good but lacked seasoning. I travel the states for performance work (Mito de Soto channel) annually and though I am not a breakfast person, I have occasionally been in need of breakfast. I cook at home and love good food and according to others a bit of a foodie... The food is really good here. The crepes are thin and crispy edges, just like my mother made. The orange juice is fresh squeezed, you know it when it has that citrus bite and the end. I was really impressed when the menu stated, "Organic Strawberries, Organic Blueberries". This was also prepared with a strawberry compote and a cream sauce that tasted light as a homemade sauce would... very impressive. One last thing... as a previous coffee roaster, their coffee (café) was NOT bitter as most are over roasted beans. The waitress was very kind and knew the menu and food details really well... when I asked, "Are the crepes thin?" She knew without hesitation. The atmosphere is like a cozy breakfast nook at home only with many smiling faces you do not know, ha, ha. This is one of our favorite breakfast places! They have a wide menu and everything we have ever ordered has been absolutely delicious. Top favorite is the Deep South skillet (see picture). The prices are good and the service is always great. Even the man who appears to be the owner/manager is always out on the floor wiping tables and assisting guests. My wife and I were looking for a place to have breakfast while in Denton. What a great place! Food was delicious! I had the berry crepe combo with sausage, bacon and eggs. The crepes weren't overly sweet and the eggs were perfectly cooked. Same for my wife except instead of crepes she had the biscuits with sausage gravy. Let me say it's not often you find a place that makes a perfect southern biscuit, but they were tender with a delicate crunch and buttery flavor that was so good! Service was excellent. Christie made sure our cups stayed full and that we never wanted or needed anything. The front desk was pleasantly welcoming. If your hungry for breakfast in Denton, give them a visit. The EHC is my neighborhood go-to breakfast and lunch restaurant. The menu selections vary from the simply delicious French toast to the awesome and healthy avocado toast with egg whites. There is something on the menu for everyone. I personally enjoy the numerous fluffy omelettes served with hash browns. If you are interested in food that is well-prepared and served by warm-hearted lovely people, stop on by the Egg House Cafe. Ask to say hello to Ross. My wife & I have frequented this restaurant for years, always good food & they have a very respectful & courteous manager. We've never felt rushed! Today was different. I invited a new colleague to discuss business over breakfast, his first time at Egg House Cafe. The young waitress, Alyssa G. & two other women that I guess were also waiting other tables all took their turn trying to rush us out the door, in their own way. It would have been one thing if they were busy & people we're waiting for a table but that wasn't the case! It was so unprofessional & uncalled for-made us feel like they were annoyed that we came & took up table space at their restaurant. We got their message & left-In fact since we weren't treated like they valued our business I don't plan on returning. Keep treating customers like that & you will have plenty of empty tables in your restaurant! My colleague was a former restaurant owner & my guess he won't be returning as well, at least not anytime soon. Too bad because this place has good food. Staff needs to wake up & realize Denton has many other good restaurant choices. I'm not one to expose restaurants, but this particular one was/is out of line. In all of my years of eating in restaurants around the world, I've never been kicked out of one, until today. So, please, please, please my fellow POC do not eat at this establishment. My family and friends(8people total) were kicked out of this restaurant by Ross, the manager because my aunt was letting him know that her bank account showed that she had been overcharged. Now, mind you, his waitress admitted to my aunt that she made a mistake on the ticket. At that point, Ross told my aunt and my sister to leave his restaurant and go back to Okla. where they came from. He then comes back to our table, and asks the rest of us to leave. We were all shocked by what he was saying. He told us that one of the ladies in our party was rude to him and we all needEd to leave immediately. He told us that he was going to call the police if we did not leave. We were in the process of leaving. Everyone left at the table had gotten their money out for payment. Let me add that everyone, except my overcharged aunt had an item of food on their plate that was cold. And all except for my baby sis, ate the cold item on their plate. My baby sis didn't care to eat cold pancakes, politely asked our waitress to bring her some melted butter for the cold pancakes. The waitress looks at her and says, well the plate is warm and this (pointing at what was already on the table) is how we serve our butter. here is the confirmation that we did nothing to deserve the treatment. **Read ESPECIALLY if your a POC** Wanted to love it bc of the reviews but was highly disappointed with the atmosphere as well as the service. For some reason we also got put in a back corner and against all an white crowd felt like Rosa Parks in the 50s. Now about the food: my first set of eggs came out cold and looked very wimpy & unappealing (got the egg white scramble with veggies & spinach and got like two leaves of spinach omg) so sent it back and decided on the veggie omelet instead but that also was off! In the description it read made with white American cheese and it came out burnt and like the cheese was just thrown in the middle it also looked like kraft singles ie yellow and super generic. The only thing I enjoyed was the whole grain toast with teeny tiny avocado slices LOL! These people are obviously penny pinchers according to all the other bad reviews. On top of it all they had all heavy metal music playing in the background and got a headache from all the food mishaps while trying to block out "Welcome to the Jungle" by guns and roses, Kiss, and other grungy bands. It's breakfast so how about playing something a little more chill and diverse? This place is not family friendly, minority friendly or any other kind of friendly for that matter. Will NOT be back! I asked for a substitution, which our server accommodated (with an expected upcharge) and without a problem. My friend and I went here today after church. I had been there once before and everything was good. My friend has many physical issues with her knee--tumors in her knee, replacements, etc. She had her leg propped up on the booth. The manager/owner (not sure which) told her to put her leg down. He was afraid an employee would get hurt. She explained that her leg hurt and it was not hanging off the end of the booth. However, she backed up more against the wall and he looked at her with disdain. The food was great. Server was new so we showed her some grace. We split a couple of things. The super berry french toast came with two sauces--vanilla and raspberry. We asked for it to be served on the side. It was...but there were no berries on the french toast. So here comes the dude again, we flag him down and tell him. He brought back a small cup of berries and the ticket. Of course, he wanted to make sure the server had charged us for everything we asked for. When we examined the ticket, I called him back. They had charged us for the two sauces (at $1.00 each) because we asked for it on the side. He said they had given us more because we requested it on the side. That was their choice. Not ours. Neither of us will go back and that's a bit sad because the place had really good food. But he was argumentative and confrontational. And that isn't right. read more
