Came here for the first time on a Sunday morning. No wait when we got there but a long line when we left. My skillet was amazing! I am already looking forward to my next visit.

Average breakfast food for above average prices. $25 after tip. Rating 6/10 Pros: Modern interior, nice staff. Cons: Boring "special", over priced.

Cherrywood Avocado Toast with fried eggs (over easy) and fruit
    Amy P.

My husband and I discovered Egg Harbor Cafe after an early morning appointment about an hour from home. We decided we deserved a breakfast after enduring the morning traffic. I didn't leave a review the first time, but it was excellent. Because I kept dreaming about the cherrywood avocado toast (I'm not an avocado toast girl), we tried the Barrington location as well. Both locations were excellent!!! After going to a second appointment with my daughters today, I decided to treat them (okay, myself) to breakfast again. I had to have the avocado toast again. The sweet flavor of the balsamic vinegar reduction combined with the salt of the goat cheese and the creaminess of the avocado combined with the crisp bacon is perfection. I'm am all about contrasting textures and flavors, so I love this dish. My daughter had the San Antonio skillet and said it was better than similar skillets from other restaurants. My other daughter had the Swedish pancakes (thin pancakes like crepes), and they were delicious as well. Despite the delicious food, the best part was our server (who happened to be the same server my husband and I had). Her name is Betty, and she was the sweetest, most attentive server I have ever had!!!

Reserve your spot ahead of time as wait times can be 20-40 minutes on the weekends. Staff was super nice and service was quick. I didn't love everything we ate and I think Ellie's is better. The honeybee latte was a hit. I had Joe's Healthy Scrambler and I thought it was bland overall. My English muffin got soggy because there was some liquid from the eggs/cheese. Loved the signature jam though! I asked for extra honey and added that to my iced mocha. That was delish! Otherwise, the mocha isn't sweet. They have an extensive menu. No corned beef hash to my surprise.

Seven years later, and that tuna melt is still my go to favorite! Some things never change! Some things do... at some point over the years, EH changed the avocado on the sandwich to a guac spread, which was very underwhelming and not nearly as good as the actual avocado slices. Since then, I've made it a point to clarify and ask for actual avocado every time I order. The tuna melt is about $15 now and comes with a side salad with the signature poppyseed dressing and side of cubed potatoes with green onion. Love that green onion touch! Plenty to choose from on the menu, like skillets, waffles, French toast, sandwiches, and salads, with an extensive kids' menu too. More unique offerings like a chorizo burrito and shakshuka are options too. This location recently got its floors redone (looks nice!) and has added an espresso machine at the front and really plus'd up on their specialty drink menu. Think s'mores lattes, brown sugar lattes, apple macchiatos, and frozen Frappuccino-like drinks. Mimosas, sangria, and bloody Mary's are also available. Pro tip: during your birthday month, you'll get a $10 off voucher if you're part of the loyalty program.

I really loved the service especially capuccino made by Andrew. Really good job-reminded me of Europian trips Thanks, Andi

Service was good, not great, waiter could've been more attentive. Food was tasty, coffee was not! Lots of options on the menu. I would return.

While visiting Chicago I didn't care to have breakfast in the hotel. Busy on a Saturday morning as you would expect. Cute little place with a good menu. Service was pleasant and quick. They leave a thermos of coffee which is a nice touch. Meat skillet was good but would have been better if the eggs weren't overcooked. I ordered over easy but they were medium to hard. Skillet was jam packed with ham sausage and bacon. English muffin was well toasted as requested. All in all a good spot.

Favorite breakfast spot? Egg Harbor! This location marks the 4th Egg Harbor I've visited and without a doubt the taste, quality, and service is consistent all throughout. I stopped in during a commute and it's conveniently located across the Metra station. It is easily accessible for commuters but also has available parking if needed. There is seating inside and outdoors and has a family and cozy feels like all of their locations. This is a great spot to drop by for a quick bite or to catch up with friends over a delicious meal!

The place has options of seating - inside and outside, ranging from metal chairs to comfortable upholstered benches. We got the tom kha to begin with, which my husband, who's not vegetarian, devoured. It was truly delicious! We then got the Kung Pao with mushrooms and it was incredible - the flavors, the choice of vegetables, the sauce - all of it! We also got a chow mein but with rice noodles - this was the one dish that could take some improvement. Granted, the original recipe calls for wheat noodles, and that might be really good, though our rice noodles version of it was came out soggy. Our server had clearly had a long day - she was tired and forgetful (didn't bring us rice and we had a hard time flagging her down to request it). She also just brought us the check after dinner, without asking if we wanted any dessert. All in all, highly recommend this place for delicious plant-based food.

It's quite spacious and still has the logistical lay out to handle a high volume of carry out orders (separate section of the restaurant that was established for pizza carry out before). There's two separate dining areas, one where they seat families with younger kids and another for diners without kids, if you want more of a dimmer, bar type vibe. A small area adjacent to the family seating area has a couple claw machines and arcade games... to which one daughter quickly "donated" $2 to the gaming cause and the other daughter decided to pocket the $2 I gave her. The spiced pear martini was a very elevated cocktail that packed a punch and was full of cinnamon and pear flavor. It was way better than I expected and worth the $16! My kiddos enjoyed the mai tai mocktail they split, and it came out in plastic cups with straws, so good for the end users! I tried the chipotle taco salad, which was a hefty $25, but also lasted me 2-3 servings. It had steak, cheese, roasted red bell peppers, and tortilla strips in it. I forgot to ask for dressing on the side, but was pleased that it wasn't overly dressed. Husband enjoyed his comforting pappardelle bolognese ($35), which is served with toasted ciabatta spears and butter. Kids' cheese pizzas were $12 each, and the croissant crust really is flaky and buttery. They did comment that it was a little spicy though; I'm guessing it's from the tomato sauce used. Service was friendly, and our after tax, pre-tip total was $128.

As for the wrap itself, the flavors were really good as well. However, I feel like the steak was cut too thick and it was a bit too chewy with certain bites.
