I am always looking for somewhere different to have lunch and decided one afternoon to stop at the Edgewood Cafe. It is a quaint place on Stony Hill Rd in Lower Makefield, Pa. It tries to have that Bucks County rustic look and does get away with it. As I entered at around 2pm - the end of lunch time- I noticed it still had a good crowd enjoying lunch. Now I was escorted to a booth for 2 which was nicely located by a window. Not being typical I decided that I would like an omelette; which was still being offered until 3pm. The nice waitress took my order of a ham & cheese omelette (a basic) with a side of sausage links and a Pepsi for my beverage. For being so late in the afternoon for an omelette (not by my standards) it was very delicious. The potatoes that accompanied the omelette were tastey and cook just right. The only surprise was when I got the bill of fare. I was shocked to see that this simple lunch delight cost me $14.00. Now I was not one to complain because the meal was very good BUT I am one who will probably never go back for an omelette again. For that much money I could have gotten a full meal of say Chicken Parm at places that have lunch specials of such. For that reason I can only give a 3 star rating. I would advise that I could give the Edgewood to review their breakfast food pricing. Because $14.00 for eggs and sausage is very extreme. read more

Mixed Review. My husband and I had dinner there when they first opened and it was all happy and fast. Have been back 4 times for breakfast and it is so inconsistent. One time the service fast, the food was hot and yummy. The next couple times service was slow, we weren't in a rush...the food was pretty good. But the last time we went the seat we were put at the sun was right in our faces and When I asked about it, the waitress said, "oh that's just where the sun comes in thsi time of day". and then the owner/manager sat with the table behind us (friends of her''s?) and told them how sick she has been but has pushed through, working every day at the restaurant even though she had the flu!! Seriously!!! NO ONE wants to hear that. I certainly did not and I will not be back there any time soon. It's too bad it took one bad visit to spoil it read more

The cafe was not crowded and was fully staffed yet we waited quite a while for a table. That's because the staff moves in slow motion clearing and cleaning tables. We didn't know what we wanted 5 minutes after being seated so our server said she'd be back in a few minutes. Those few minutes turned into 10 minutes. We couldn't get our servers attention but were finally able to flag down someone else. The food came out relatively quickly but honestly, it was just meh. The hash browns come with green pepper. I wish I would have know that because I can't eat nightshade veggies. Most places make their potatoes plain. Our omelettes were just ok, a bit dry and nothing special. Getting the check also took more time than it should. The staff is friendly but so slow. For me personally, that's aggravating. We won't be back. read more

My wife and I tried this place and quite frankly while cleaner better looking than Mil -Lee's in Yardley which is not a bad place I classify it a few steps above a greasy spoongreasy spoon this was not a great first experience all I did was order a basic fruit salad and it was spoiled. my wife ordered pancakes with a banana strawberry batter mixed in and she really enjoyed hers so I guess maybe will give it one more shot. read more

This is a small local café in a great location... It is true that there isn't a lot of seating, but that just makes it more intimate in my opinion. The only time we had to wait for a table was breakfast on a Sunday, and we didn't really wait that long. The food is awesome and moderately priced. I've been here for breakfast, lunch and dinner and loved all of it! My favorites are the bacon wrapped scallops and the burgers. Breakfast is overall the best in the area for sure. I also want to mention that the staff and service is wonderful. Our servers are always helpful and polite, and after dinner the chef came to our table to greet us and ask about our meal. I had a very good meal here. Only problem is , it's small and ABSOLUTELY don't get a table by back door. That is where people wait for tables and they are breathing down your neck waiting for you to finish. You can hear them giving commentary about the status of your consumption. read more

My mom and I were both off work so we went to lunch here. It was my first time and I didn't know what to expect especially as I have not been eating out due to the pandemic. Inside it had a cute rustic-diner style decor but booths and customers were spread out. My mom got the eggs Florentine which she said was delicious. I was deciding between a soup/salad combo and the florentine chicken melt and went with the server's recommendation of the Florentine melt. My sandwich was very good especially the bread which was Texas toast style. It was a cold day though and part of me wishes I had gotten the French onion soup as well, but the sandwich filled me up so much so that I couldn't eat the coleslaw that came with it let alone a cup of soup! It's a pretty good place for a home style breakfast. The menu is full traditional breakfast items and some new takes on classics. The pricing is great for the amount of food that is served. I had the special of cinnamon roll pancakes. They were great, with a cream cheese icing that wasn't too sweet and some kind of cinnamon syrup. The pancakes themselves were on the heavy side. I tried some of my boyfriends side of potatoes. They were better than most of the places that serve breakfast for double the price. Super favorable with aggressive seasoning. Service did take a while, both for the food to come out and for me to get the check. My boyfriend actually had to walk up and ask a waitress to get us the check, all three were standing behind the counter. read more

Quaint corner cafe with available parking. Rapid service for me at breakfast time (albeit on a weekday late morning). I went straight for my staple ( two scrambled eggs with hash browns and rye toast). The meal was satisfyingly tasty and appropriately portioned. Its morning sun is out birds are chirping and the keurig is going strong. Laziness hits me so making breakfast is not an option, time to go out because that's what I do. Not as much a Gerald S. Lol he goes everywhere. So on to Yelp I go and find Edgewood cafe. I see the reviews and only 3 stars but some were cosmetic problems. So since its close off I go. I pull into the driveway which has decent amount of parking and they have outdoor dining. I walk in door to notify the waitress ill be outside and she treated me with a smile and was very pleasant. The interior was homey feeling with at least 12 tables. I liked it. So outside I go on a wooden deck with roof. The building is older and could use a fresh paint job but that did not bother me. I ordered coffee and eggs Benedict. Order came out in decent time and the food was delicious no complaints. As I paid I talked to one of the male workers and complimented the cafe. He said next time get a pork roll egg and cheese sandwich because they are so big. So the next time I go thats what I will try. All in all I liked the cafe and will definitely return. My bill was $12 which to me is fine. read more

Went on Saturday 6/27. First time eating out since the Covid. Self distancing was practiced, as well as all other safety precautions. Awful service and food. Waited over 20 minutes on a Sunday for two people, and when we finally sat down we waited another 15 minutes for someone to come over with menus and silverware. The food took even longer than our wait to be seated and came out cold and flavorless. Don't waste your time or money on this place. Go to Mil-lees! read more

I'm sadly writing this restaurant a negative review. I was hoping that Edgewood Cafe was going to follow the growing locavore trend that is happening in Bucks County restaurants. I was waiting for soo long for the restaurant to open. There is a ton of potential for it to be a great new breakfast place: a cute porch for outdoor seating, walkable for many residents, Shadybrook farm-to-table collaboration, perhaps. I was really expecting creative, modern menu choices. After my first visit, I left feeling disappointed. I'll wait a while and give it another try, and hopefully they will work out some of the kinks. We waited nearly 45 minutes to be seated at 9am on a Sunday. We were a party of six, but they only have tables that seat four, and they couldn't move any tables together. Maybe bring in some small tables for two? One suggestion for the staff would be to smile more. The servers seemed like they were all miserable. Our waitress did not greet us when she got to the table. Then (this is a bit nit picky), she handed out all of our coffee cups buy grabbing them from the rim. Please add healthy, creative options to your menu! The breakfast was mediocre diner food that cost an extra $1 or $2 per plate by comparison, and the service was slower. My boyfriend and I shared some dry cinnamon raisin french toast and a decent Spanish omelet, despite the orange cheddar. I asked for my home fries well done- they weren't. Add some local, in-season produce, some whole grains and some Pennsylvania (real) maple syrup please!! And lose the television- its not a sports bar. Sorry for the harshness. In town visiting family for the weekend (8/25) and we decided to try this place because it's relatively new, and the folks we were visiting had been once before and said it was promising but had some kinks to work out. After waiting for 25 minutes we were finally seated and that's when the fun began. For drinks we all ordered waters and coffee, the waitress forgot one of the waters, and had to take another back because it had a foreign object floating in it. The menu looked great, lots of exciting combinations and items that you don't always see. I ordered the Grande platter, which according to the menu included 3 eggs, french toast, bacon, home fries, and toast (I know a lot of food). The other folks I was with ordered the lox platter. When we finally all got our food a lot was missing, one of my 3 eggs, home fires, and creme cheese for all the salmon platters. When I asked about my home fries the waitress responded saying she didn't know it was included with the meal (despite being on the menu), I also heard her say the same thing to the folks at the table next to ours. Overall the food was good, but not great and the service spotty at best. A lot of people seemed to be waiting to pay bills, waiting awhile for food. The waitstaff seemed to not know the menu, and tables were taking longer than normal to be cleared. This place has a good menu, great location and decor, but the service is definitely lacking. Management really needs to step up its game and turn this place around because I doubt many people will want to wait 25 minutes for incomplete orders and spotty service. read more

Great breakfast and service. Had the best ever cream beef on toast with scrapple. My friend had beef brisket. Both outstanding!!!! Service was wonderful. Love the porch and the interior is decorated with old farm implements and it is nicely done. Plenty of windows. We will be back regularly. Love this place!!! read more

We tried the new cafe in town, and we will never ever go back. The waitress who took our names said it would be a 15 minute wait, and after 45 minutes, we were finally seated (we had to ask the guy who cleans up to do a better job, he dripped syrup onto the seat). Despite stating flavored coffee on the menu (and charging extra for refills), the waitress told us she didn't have flavored coffee. Don't get the crepes. They're an eggy mess and the berries tasted like they'd seen better days. Despite ordering immediately, it took a further 45 minutes to get 2 egg omelets and the crepes. We weren't served any refills on our non-flavored coffee. The bread was weirdly buttered too - a big dollop in the middle that had already melted by the time we opened the toast, so the middle was soggy and the outside flavorless. When we first sat down, we figured that the wait etc is because of the growing pains of opening a new business. We were even prepared to give them a second shot. However the food was too lousy... we won't subject ourselves to it again! Get a new chef, more staff, and a better hostess who knows how to manage the front effectively. read more

I went to this place and was disappointed by the food, lack of service, and low quality of the food for the price. There was no host, or anyone to tell you specials. The lunch menu was very lacking. The food is akin to a greasy spoon diner and overpriced for the low quality of the food, and it took forever to arrive. You can go to the Great American pubs in Langhorne and on Street road, or to the Blue Fountain diner in Langhorne and get better diner and breakfast food there than at the Edgewood cafe. Their dishes that are supposedly Italian and Cuban are just Americanized and improvised versions of actual Italian and Cuban food. If I wanted Italian food I would not go here but would instead go to either of the two Italian restaurants in the shopping center across from the Edgewood cafe or I would just make it at home. They need a better cook. I ordered seafood and they mixed bacon and corned beef into it! Also, there were way too many employees there standing around doing absolutely nothing yakking their mouths when they should have been waiting tables, cleaning, and actually working in a restaurant. The fries were good but they charge $1 extra for them. I would not go here for dinner since the food on the Dinner menu is VERY expensive for what it is. The restaurant's decor was odd since they had large plasma screen TVs in there and tried to make it look like a sports bar or chain family restaurant but it's neither of these things. I am not sure if I will return or not? As of now I am leaning towards no since I was not impressed. If they improve the restaurant service, prices, and cooking I will return. I read the pretty much negative reviews here but decided to try Edgewood Cafe despite them. The cafe is within walking distance of my home and I still harbored hope since the problems mentioned are typical of a startup. Anyway, my wife and I went for breakfast and it was quite good. The hostess sat us quickly (we arrived just before 9 AM on a Sunday), the service was prompt and friendly, and the food arrived within a few minutes of placing our order even though the place was almost at capacity. Our omelets were well prepared and quite good. At least one earlier review noted the need for a front end manager, but she was in evidence that morning and kept the wait staff on their toes. My family and I came here for breakfast on Saturday. We sat and waited for our food for over one hour. We asked how much longer our wait would be and were told 5 minutes. That time came and went and still no food. People seated before us had still not been served. We ended up leaving, as did several other families, before our food was brought out. A true disappointment. How long does it take to make breakfast?? Stopped in for dinner. Took about 30 minutes to get served. They apologized profuesly and discounted the bill - ok pass. It could be an isolated incident. 2nd try. Seeated and served in a fair time, but food was about average. 3rd attempt- Breakfast time. Was seated at the counter. took 10 minues to be greeted and take my order....and another 20 minutes to get a bowl of oatmeal and toast !!! During the wait, I even made eye contact with the waitress and looked at my watch, which did not phase her. To make things worse, my meal was served with the bill as if to say "eat your food, pay and leave". Dont think I am too sensitive because all the caucasian patrons seem to be eating WITHOUT the bill on the table. 4th and final attempt. I dont know why I went back. Same experience as the 3rd. This time I ordered Eggs florentine, which was poached eggs over smoked salmon. I didnt realize you were supposed to cook smoked salmon. Again after waiting 20+ minutes, my food was served "WITH" the bill. And again, I was the only non-caucasian in the room, and the only one with food served "WITH" the bill. So Dont bother. Food flavor is just ok - nothing special. Cafe has no signage so you'll miss it anyway. If you're not caucasian, apparently they think you are going to skip out without paying because your food comes with the bill. read more

I googled breakfast restaurants & this place came up. I had the crabmeat Benedict & my son had chocolate chip pancakes. The food was so great, and the coffee is delicious and full bodied. I also had a grilled cinnamon bun which I was excited to see on their menu! Our server was very friendly and attentive. It's a relaxed atmosphere, you seat yourself and pay at the counter. I discovered this gem in Yardley a few months ago, and have been going for breakfast most Saturdays since. To date, I have never had a poor experience. The staff has been extremely prompt and friendly; and the food has been stellar. I've been trying to get in for lunch and dinner, but have yet to go (it's definitely on my to-do list.) Stopped in breakfast before a long bike ride. I entered the cafe to see about getting seated outside and had to wait for the waitress staff to finish their personal conversation before being acknowledged. We chose to sit in the outdoor seating as the location of the cafe is situated on a cute corner. We were seated quickly and our drinks orders were brought out in a timely fashion. Our breakfast order was taken and our waitress hadn't returned to offer a refill of our coffees in the meantime. We waited patiently thinking that we were forgotten about. It did feel like a good amount of time had passed by, but I wasn't looking at a clock. I looked through the windows and it appeared that the employees were still grouped together and chatting. Knowing that the place was not real busy, I was taken back that the meal was not hot when brought out. I'm not one to complain about a meal so I dealt with eating cold eggs. I would like to mention that the coffee was very good. Other than the service not being great and the food par, Yelp's 3 out of 5 stars seems to be consistent with what we received. I have been here a few times for breakfast and it was ok. Went on Friday and ordered breakfast chipped beef on toast and potatoes. So disappointed my potatoes were burnt so badly as I did not eat them when I mentioned it to the server she shrugged no response. When paying the bill we mentioned it and he stated maybe it would be better next time. Neither mentioned it to the cook or anyone else. When you serve something to a customer if it looks that burnt don't serve it. The place always looks closed and servers don't care about you. Not returning and I live in walking distance. My husband and I have been to the Cafe twice. Their breakfast is the best in the area, the potatoes were so crisp, not like the flacid, poured from a bag type at other restaurants. Our dinner of chicken potpie and the crabmeat stuffed portobello sandwich were delicious. I fail to understand the number of terse negative reviews & suspect it is a smear campaign. The potatoes were served with peppers and onions which I liked, but I think they should tell customers, as this makes for a different breakfast potato experience. I will be returning! read more
