Edgar's Bakery is located in the Colonnade off Hwy 280 at 3407 Colonnade Parkway Birmingham, AL 35243 Today I ordered two pound cakes, one strawberry and one marble. I also ordered one slice of strawberry cake. The service was welcoming with a smile and all of my questions were answered. The Ambiance was quiet since I was the only customer in the bakery at 7:00 AM. I have enjoyed eating at this bakery for years and I recommend everything. It was the strawberry cake for me, extremely delicious and mouthwatering.

This was a ok experience but we will not come again. It started with a cashier not very friendly and it really didn't improve. I got a grit bowl where the bell peppers were raw -not cooked and the cheese was not melted . My husband Got a Orange cinnamon roll which had a good flavor and pretty big. He got a monte cristo which sadly was small and the potatoes had very little seasoning. My son got a croissant egg/cheese/sausage he ate most of it so I'm assuming he was ok with it. We got a quiche . The taste was good but the crust was soggy. I also looked at a few things to buy but the prices are way too high! Me and my husband was not impressed!!

Really wanted to like this bakery, the merch at the front and the whimsical window displays were nice, but I did noticed a lot of un-bussed tables while I was here. I only intended to get a snack but they had warm pecan rolls and orange rolls. I went with the orange roll and a latte, decent but maybe I just missed a huge lunch rush and they were still recovering. The staffers were friendly but few and far between, maybe that's why the tables were not addressed. There was someone placing a cake order as well as the normal line for ordering. I wished there was a trash can that you could bus your own table with but I could not locate one. when I left the majority of the tables had plates and things that needed to be picked up. Traffic and the tables are a good sign that this is a decent spot, I must have just come at the wrong time.

Nice place to stop for a treat. Like the proverbial kid in a candy store, it's always fun to stand at the bakery case and find something special. Today we got a couple petit fors and sugar cookies. The cookies were pretty good, and cute, but I'll be honest--these are not my favorites. There are lots of "boutique" cookie places that specialize in just cookies, and have a firmer, denser cookie, and a thinker, more opaque royal icing. This icing was a little more sugary tasting with a more translucent icing. Still cute, and certainly hit the spot that day.

I've used Edgar's for all of my confectionary needs for the last few years. Their strawberry and caramel cakes are unmatched. The strawberry cake is so moist and has the perfect amount of fresh strawberries throughout. I swear it's as if they have a kitchen full of grandma's trapped in the kitchen baking all day, lol. And let's not even talk abut their loaf cakes. The chocolate and caramel apple loaf cakes will have you committing the sin of gluttony until you have eaten every last crumb. Their lemon cake is sweet, but with the perfect hint of tart lemony goodness. And their petit fours, oh man another chance to commit gluttony. I love getting all of the flavors and sitting done and savoring every last one. Don't judge me, I love sweets I've used several of their locations and service quality of the product never changes. The staff are always kind and cheerful and the cakes are always fresh. The quality of the staff can be the driving force behind repeat customers and I can honestly say that they care about there business and their customers. It's also a treat just to go in, they sale a variety of knock knacks that are sure to peak your interest from coffee cups to aprons. I'm constantly trying to convince myself that I don't need another coffee cup, kitchen towel, apron, or wine glass.

Birthday cake!! Beautiful

I have come to this Edgar's location a few times. I am not sure I have anything really extensive at any Edgar's location. But I will say that they all seem to be extremely clean, have friendly service and all smell like amazing baked goods when you walk in. I usually have their coffee when I go in. Even their pour over coffee is really good. I have come here for meetings and that is usually the only thing I get since I'm not a huge sweets person. All of that said, I have had the strawberry cake on numerous occasions at various functions. And I dare you to find a better strawberry cake anywhere else. No, literally, I dare you to tell me one just so I can eat it!! It is so good. I have zero complaints about Edgars in my experiences. And I love that cake! So I can't figure out any reason to give anything less than five stars.

Mold and whatever else that might be growing. Again unopened and two days after purchase.

Food looks amazing but you literally pay for food that contains dishwasher soap and is burnt from the bottom. Please don't go.

There wasn't line when we got there but the crowd usually follows us for some reason so by the time we left there was standing room only and a line out the door. The bakery items were very fresh and tasty. I loved the Swedish gingerbread cookies - light and crisp. The lemon bar was delicious. They also have sandwiches that liked really good. Coffee - I got a vanilla latte extra sweet (no lavender) and my daughter said it was one of the best. I thought it was pretty good. I would go again when back in Birmingham!

The young girl making the coffee was loudly talking about someone who messed up their coffee order this morning and how frustrated she was. The only other employee was occupied with what seemed a large order of bread etc. When she finished what she was doing she looked at the now five customers, claustrophobically waiting, and said I'll be right back and disappeared. Leaving the one guy serving the one customer. It was 11:30 am on a rainy day. Figured I could do without a cream cheese croissant and coffee and left. Had already waited 5 as the only other person in there and did not want to wait another undetermined amount of time. I know one of the bakers. It's a shame the front has been so bad these last two times.

The space itself is beautiful--clean, intentional, and unique--with visual nods to milling and baking traditions. You can see elements of the mill and wheat motifs in the background, which adds a quiet sense of craftsmanship and history without feeling staged. The pastries are exceptional. Their croissants are perfectly flaky and buttery, the sourdough is deeply flavorful, and the morning buns strike that ideal balance of richness and warmth. The baguette is crisp on the outside, tender inside--everything you want it to be. Every item feels carefully made, never rushed. What stands out most is the consistency and care. Breadworks manages to feel elevated yet welcoming--refined without being pretentious. It's clear they take pride in both their craft and their process, and it shows in every bite. Soon as you walk in, you see packaged desserts in both full cakes and slices. They had several King Cakes, so we immediately decided to split a slice. Decided that first before what we're actually eating. #priorities Last time I ate here, I got the Chicken Quesadilla and it was so good. But a couple of my coworkers got the Marilyn Monroe, a sandwich with "turkey, pepperoni, mozzarella & marinara sauce on cheddar bread". So I went with that this time, same as my coworker. Concept here is that you order at the counter, they give you a number to display on your table, then another server will bring your order. Service was fast. The sandwich looked a bit small at first, but it was stacked with turkey and pepperoni, so the portion size was actually just right. It comes with marinara sauce on the side for dipping, which is good, because it keeps the sandwich from being too messy, but it was a bit odd because it was cold, in combination with the warm sandwich. I kinda wish the sauce had been warmer. It comes with a bag of chips and your choice of another side, which I chose fruit. I don't care for melon, so I picked around that and ate the grapes out. Next time I might get another side. And finally... it was King Cake time. We had picked a cream cheese slice and it was SO good. Had a cinnamon taste mixed in, but to be fair, this was my first King Cake so I actually have no idea what to compare it to. This dessert made me so happy. Two things I need to figure out: why is this sandwich called the Marilyn Monroe and when can we eat here again.
