We came to Eden before seeing a show. It was great that they had parking. We ordered the bread, ahi tuna crudo, ahi & shrimp spaghetti, red fish and asparagus. The ahi crudo was delicious. It was my favorite part of the meal. The red fish was also delicious. The ahi & shrimp pasta was good, but I think I was expecting standard pasta, and it was ramen. They also chopped up the tuna and shrimp which I was also not expecting. The server was good, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. He did notice that the pasta was not hitting the spot and offered to get me something else. I declined. Again, the pasta was good, just not quite what I was expecting. The service overall was great. The bussing staff and hostess staff were great. The bussers were on top of water refills, keeping our table clean, and taking our check when I was ready. I would recommend giving Eden a try! read more

I am so happy I stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant! We were greeted and welcomed so kindly by Bill, who ended up being our waiter. From beginning to end it was a perfect dining experience and our waiter gave such a great explanation of the menu. Everything our table ate was superb and the drinks were great as well. We can't wait to try this spot for dinner! read more

Cheated me out of 150$. The 6 course special was framed as being for 2 people but was actually per person, doubling the bill. The manager was unreceptive to our concerns. This place will deceive and cheat you for every penny. Do not recommend. read more

Delicious and very expensive! Heed the three $$$ warning. I got the sweet potato and pork belly hash. The meat was perfect and the hash had delicious seasonal root veggies. What really set it apart was the dash of cheese on the side. What a great brunch! Also ordered the house scones. They were okay. The service was great, my friend was 20mins late and they kept my coffee cup full and didn't give me any trouble waiting alone at a table for so long. read more

Went with a foodie friend for a quiet evening of good food and conversation. Eden did not disappoint. Atmosphere, service, food, all excellent. Our waiter, Bill H, made excellent recommendations. We chose 4 items and split them all so we could get the most flavor. I'd come back just for the wood-grilled carrots, but the flatbread, beet salad and gnocchi were also seasoned and expertly prepared. Highly recommend. read more

Very good food! Very uncomfortable restaurant--so incredibly loud. Hard to hear the server. Equally hard to hear my two friends throughout dinner. (I do not have any level of hearing loss.) The owners need to buy curtains or rugs or sound deadening products. Something. I definitely won't be back until then. read more

I don't think I would have felt so compelled to post a review had I not felt completely misled by all of the 4 and 5 star reviews I read on Yelp. There must be more than one Eden in the city, because this is surely not the place I visited last night. The ambiance and decor was a solid nod to fine dining - this holds true from others' reviews. Where my experience diverges rather dramatically was in the treatment by waiter and staff, the taste (or lack thereof) of the food, and over-cooking of the food. Our waiter highly recommended everything on the menu, so we tried them. The appetizers were fine - not something exceptional, but edible. The pasta course was again just okay, nothing to write home about. The entree course was where it all went terribly wrong. My burger that I ordered medium was charred to a crisp and tasteless. The two steak dishes were cooked beyond comprehension and set atop what looked to be a pile of green mush. Ive never been one to pass up dessert, but I declined anymore food. Sometimes restaurants miss the mark on food, and that's fine. What isn't okay is being teased about a deadly food allergy for the entirety of a meal. Each time staff brought out my order they would joke about the extra allergen they had included in the food. It made me incredibly uneasy, and second guessing if even eating the food placed in front of me would be safe. The waiter was someone I would expect to work in a used car dealership - pushing everything on us, bringing out items that nobody had agreed to, and trying to strong arm us into ordering dessert on four separate occasions. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. The story of Eden starts with their greenhouse, which breathes life into their food. I'm not a salad person, but they make some of the best salads and vegetable driven dishes. While the menu changes seasonally, I can say their savory donuts, seafood dishes, lamb, brunch burger, and desserts all stand out. I'm never disappointed! read more

I came here on the recommendation of a colleague, and I really wanted to like this place and there were certainly a lot of elements that I did like, such as the ambiance and service, but unfortunately, the food was not up to par. The overwhelming flavor among several dishes was excessive saltiness, which detracted a lot from how good the food potentially could have been. 3 of us shared 4 smaller plates, 2 entrees and a dessert. Best Salad - The best salad was amazing, everything was so fresh and the flavors worked really well together. Umami Donuts - I thought the concept was unique, but I didn't like the taste of this. We got the pork and the mushroom and the pork was definitely better than the mushroom. The mushroom paste was dry, overly salty, and had a weird flavor. The lighter sauce went well with the heavier fried textures though. I prefer my donuts sweet. Lamb and Beef Meatballs - The flavor was good, but once again quite salty and ours were cooked a bit dry. The herbs that came with the it were very fresh and the beans and sauce complemented the meat otherwise. Octopus Stew - Octopus was cooked well, other than it was slightly burnt, but it wasn't rubbery. The stew itself was seasoned well and the pita was very tasty. Grilled Lamb - This was really good overall. The lamb was tender and the vegetables and couscous went really together. Chinese Broccoli - Definitely my least favorite dish. Very burnt broccoli that was super super salty. The crispy cheese was good in itself, but didn't go with the broccoli and made the dish even saltier. Chocolate Chip Cookie with Ice Cream - This was honestly amazing. We ordered it to balance some of the saltiness out of our palate. The homemade cookie was perfect with the melting ice cream and chocolate sauce. I might give this place another shot for brunch because I did like everything other than some of the dishes. Hopefully the salt is more controlled on the brunch menu. read more

Service was great, server was attentive and super knowledgeable on all the menu items. Bathrooms super cute and clean. Cocktails were delicious! Forgot the names but one had egg white and the other had st germain. We got the meat filled doughnuts as an app, so good!! I had the beet salad and ahi tuna. Great blend of textures and spices without being overwhelming. My friend got the steak and loved it. They asked us, nicely, to moved down a table so that they could put two tables together. We didn't mind and scooted down. The manager came over and very graciously thanked us and comped us a dessert of our choice which was AWESOME. We got the double chocolate cake with chocolate crumble, salted caramel and charcoal vanilla gelato. Such unique combinations of ingredients across the board that wasn't disappointing! I'll def be back to try other items! read more

We had an amazing, unique, and beautiful culinary experience here to celebrate a romantic, special occasion. I loved EVERYTHING about our experience here. We got the Vegetarian Tasting Menu, which is basically five courses and I really appreciate that this restaurant goes through the effort of having a vegetarian tasting menu. Most tasting menus at fancier restaurants tend to be pretty meat-centered so when I saw that they have a vegetarian tasting menu option, I knew that I had to try this place. It also was perfect for a special occasion. The service was EXCELLENT. Our server was very attentive, the manager, chefs, sommalier walked by and introduced themselves and the bussers were on point with the water refills. I was really impressed. They also poured us a complimentary glass of rose champagne for the special occasion. I am a big fan of rose champagne so it was an excellent way to start our special meal. We had two different cocktails, which were fresh and flavorful. I had the Eden's choice which had ginger beer, pimm's cynar, and mint. It was served in a cute moscow mule mug. It was a pretty large drink. I also love the decor of this restaurant. It was well-lit with pretty, unique lighting. I also really appreciate the fact that they have an urban greenhouse inside where they get their produce. The first course was a Summer Squash Salad. The baby squash and tomatoes were sautéed really well, the basil tasted fresh, and I loved the pecan touch. The curried coconut milk was such a good flavor addition and it was unique. There were really good spices in there adding even more flavor to the salad. Our second course was a baby beet salad. I love beets and its flavors were complimented really well with the sweet fruits and macadamia nuts. The avocado mouse and watercress provided a nice savory flavor to balance out the sweetness. The dressing was a caramel type of vinaigrette. It was unlike anything I have had before. The sorghum provided a really nice crunchy texture to the soft textures in the salad. We also had the kalamata olive bread and onion focaccia with the chive butter on the side. The kalamata olive bread was mind-blowing with the chive butter! I love kalamata olives and this was a combination of everything I love including the onion focaccia bread. Our third course was a roasted pepper pierogi. I have never had a pierogi I was excited about. They are usually bland and boring. But this pierogi was amazing. They were filled with aged cheddar, there was a roasted artichoke served with it and crunchy pickled banana peppers on top. I really loved the pickled banana peppers on top of the soft pierogi. The flavors were perfect with the browned butter, chives, and herbed yogurt. There was a smokey flavor that was mouth-watering. I typically don't like yogurt flavors but it was light and complimented everything very well. This was probably my favorite course. Our fourth course was a delicious curried lentil brik that had a goat cheese soubise (a lighter goat cheese sauce) served underneath pickled baby turnips, carrots, a roasted spring onion, and minted harissa. There was a 64 degree egg (kind of like a poached egg) served next to the curried lentil pastry. What unique flavors and ingredients! I loved how all of this came together. The harissa went so well with the lighter vegetable flavors and the mint wasn't overpowering at all. The egg went really well with the more intense curry flavors. Our last course was dessert which was another unique culinary experience! It was a sweet corn gelato with macerated blueberries, and a lime reduction on top of a corn muffin. Everything was light and the flavors were well-balanced. I didn't know what to expect for the corn gelato, but it was delicious and the blueberries added some intensity to the dessert. What I really loved about Eden is that they curate their flavors in very unique ways and take great care with everything they served. So many restaurants do the "new American" thing which can be delicious but Eden uses a combination of flavors from all over the world and combines them in innovative ways. They know how to cook with vegetable, how to feature them in unique ways, while combining many different types of flavors. I've never had a culinary experience like this before. I can't wait to go back! read more

I was in from San Francisco for one night and am so glad we got to experience Eden! The entire staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive yet at the same not pushy and encouraged us to enjoy and take our time. We came after seeing pictures and reviews of the food and it did not disappoint. We had the beets, lamb chop and for dessert the champagne poached pear which I all loved and recommend. The dessert had a goat cheese chocolate ice cream that was amazing. Although the food was top notch, I think it was the overall atmosphere that made this place really stand out from the rest. It was such a beautiful combination of natural and modern. Being a Friday night the restaurant was lively yet we were able to relax and enjoy our conversation without feeling overcrowded or it being too loud. I will definitely be back. read more

It's been a few days, and I'm still thinking about my recent and first trip to Chicago's newer restaurant--Eden. My overall experience was absolutely incredible, and my arty food dish is going up there on my list of most favorite dishes...ever! I had the opportunity to dine here with a group of colleagues last week. It was a rainy evening that turned light and cheerful with one foot inside the restaurant. Fairly brand new, the restaurant is gorgeous with it's white painted brick and black accent interior with wood floors. Kind of like Fixer Upper meets Morrocco. Yep, I'd move in. Our waiter was professional (cute) and gracious. He helped me figure out how to do a menu workaround for my garlic and soy allergies. I ended up ordering the smoked Tajarin (pasta) dish. It was truly a work of art on the plate and in my mouth. Served with grilled trumpet mushrooms, sunchoke, sunflower sprouts, chili, and egg yolk, I kept eating until I finished everything (even though I was full half way through). Each bite offered true smoked goodness. The restaurant was a bit loud from being so open. I struggled a bit to hear my colleagues at times, so take note this might not be the best place for a job interview ;-) Best food experience since Restaurant Michael. Did you notice the onsite greenhouse in the parking lot? read more

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. I had heard good things about Eden and I was super excited to finally check it out. It completely lived up to the hype! The food was delicious! Each dish we ordered had complex flavor. It was apparent that a lot of thought, creativity, and talent went into the food. The dessert was equally as good! The strawberry shortcake one was my fave. The service was superb. The chef, Devon Quinn, even came around to our table to ask how our food was, which was really nice and totally made me feel a little star struck haha. I hear their brunch is amazing, so I'll definitely be returning to try that out as well! read more

This is a gem of Chicago - a true Eden nestled under the "L" in an old industrial part of town. The experience starts with the amazing aesthetic of the restaurant - a bright, modern oasis - and continues through the attentive service and delicious food. Each plate is a work of art, in flavor, invention and design. I cannot wait for my next trip back here. Second time eating here, first dinner now breakfast/brunch. Can't find anything wrong with it, service is fast and friendly, food is great. My wife and I just ate at Eden for our anniversary. We both agreed that it's one of the best meals we've had in a long while. To start, the location is a bit outside of the usual restaurant row. However, no one cares, because they have PARKING. What, whaaaaat? From the second we walked in, the service was attentive and genuine. Everyone--the hostesses, the waitress, the servers, and the managers--were really working to ensure that guests had a great dining experience. The vibe is hip, upscale, but not at all pretentious. It's a great spot for a date night, but it's also a great spot for a girls' night out, as it is loud and lively in the best kind of way. The design is also on-point: green sofas, textured wall hangings, succulents, fiddle leaf figs. It's like a page out of some design magazine. (Tip for the owners: your fiddle leaf figs are barely hanging on, poor things! I know they are beautiful, but they are also super difficult to care for. They have to get LOTS of light if they are going to have any chance. Give them 1-2 liters of water ONCE a week, and spray them with room temperature water a few times a week. I'm rooting for them!) The menu is edited, but there are plenty of options. We had to hold ourselves back from over-ordering (something we're always guilty of). We got the savory doughnuts because, well, who could resist those? They were very good--doughy balls filled with shredded sirloin and served with melted cheese--but if pressed, we'd also say they were the least impressive dish of the night. They needed a bit of acid to balance the richness and make the flavor pop--maybe some lemon zest or dressed greens or something. Everything else was PERFECTLY seasoned. The food we had was aggressively flavorful. We had the escolar crudo (best crudo I've ever had), the duck lasagna (a fave for good reason), the steak (a really delicious steak dinner), and the lamb (again, the best lamb dish I've had). For our anniversary, they gifted us a bread plate, which we couldn't help but chowing down on, and a dessert--the chocolate crunch spectacular thingy-ma-jig. GET THAT. It's so delicious. Cocktails were really, really good and, again, balanced, too. Overall, we were so happy to have chosen Eden for a special occasion, as it was a fully satisfying and surprising meal. We'll be back! read more

I had a very good meal for lunch. The service was pretty darn good. And the bill didn't hurt too much. I will definitely be coming back.

Eden, you had me at free parking lot. I knew this was going to be a great experience the moment I discovered this when pulling up to the restaurant. My two friends and I were meeting here for an early after work dinner to celebrate one of their birthdays. This place is kinda off by itself in this part of the West Loop. I walked into a beautiful, bright room, admiring the bright white walls, plants, and lighting. It is a beautifully designed space. We were greeted warmly by the host and seated at the corner booth. I was worried this wouldn't be a kid-friendly place, but on the contrary, everyone was so accommodating to my daughter. They even had the prettiest modern styled high chair that looked custom made to fit in with the decor. Our server was funny and practical. Gave us a concise but great overview of the menu and answered our questions. She even asked if they could make something special for baby girl which was really thoughtful. We started with the Brussel Sprouts. I was a bit disappointed with this dish since the duck and other stuff seemed to overwhelm the dish. I wish the Brussel sprouts were more crispy too. The Bone Marrow was my favorite. The two pieces had generous amounts of marrow unlike other places I've been to, and the toasted house rolls were a mix of crispy and chewy...the better to slather with marrow! We also tried a pasta dish that had tortellini which had an overpowering amount of sweet spice (maybe cinnamon or allspice?) that made it my least favorite. The Portuguese Spiked Chicken was delicious with the potato purée although the plating was off to one side which made me think that something was missing since there was a lot of negative space there. During dinner baby girl was getting restless so I had her playing with some magnetic blocks, one of which went under the booth. I asked for something long to fish it out, and someone brought out a short broom. After I got the piece, she wanted to start sweeping all under the table, much to the amusement of the staff. After dinner, our server brought out a lit dessert to celebrate my friend's birthday. It way a great way to end the evening. read more

My husband and I were excited to try Eden during Chicago Restaurant Week 2017. Fresh ingredients, great service, and close to home-YES! SERVICE: we experienced great service the entire time. Our water glasses were never running low, we never had to wait long to order another drink, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I needed to use the restroom so I stood up and looked around and immediately someone asked if I was looking for the restroom. AMBIANCE: The decor of Eden is just my style. Black, white, and gray/silver decor covers the entire restaurant. As we drove past, it caught my eye. However, it was very loud. Oftentimes I felt like I had to really lean over and yell in order for my husband to hear what I was saying. There are no curtains or carpet in the restaurant. While I like the look of Eden, I can't say I enjoy how loud it is inside. FOOD: *Bone Marrow: $18 (not included on the Chicago Restaurant Week menu) parker house roll, turnips, radish, fresno, allium, bergamot-celery salsa verde. Fresh, savory, beautiful. I love bone marrow dishes. I liked that although this dish did have butter to make it rich and savory, it was not too oily like some other bone marrow dishes. The root vegetables added a nice contrast and the toast added a nice texture to the dish. However, I have to say that it was not my all time favorite bone marrow dish (Bestia in Los Angeles, oh how I miss you). *Eden: $14. I chose to order this cocktail because it was the "Barkeep's choice" drink: pimm's, cynar, fresh lime, ginger beer, cucumber, mint, celery bitter mist. The first thing I smelled was celery. The main thing I tasted was celery. I appreciate their twist on a Moscow Mule, but the celery really threw me off. I couldn't finish the drink. *Largo: $14. templeton rye whiskey, calvados, blood orange, ch amaro, meyer lemon orange bitters, luxardo maraschino, luxardo cherry. This drink was more my style. Sweet, but not too sweet. I wish I had more! *Hennesy XO: $35 It comes straight out of the bottle.... *Wedge Salad: baby iceberg lettuce/mighty vine tomato, radish, grilled pepper, cranberry bean, montamore, charred scallion ranch. It tasted fresh. I really liked the few pieces of montamore cheese. There were a few pieces of what seemed to be very toasted peanuts that added an interesting texture. *Berbere Spiced Lentil & Grilled Chicken Soup with grilled baguette: flavorful. The chicken was very tender. *Roast Pork Shoulder: white beans, braised kale, blood orange marmalade. So good. The blood orange marmalade rich and sweet. Served in a cute mini dutch oven. *Warm Apple Cake: cinnamon gelato, celery: delicious. Not too sweet. *Chocolate Caprese: lemon-thyme sorbet, fresh whipped ricotta. At first bite, the lemon-thyme sorbet made me pucker my face because it was sour. However, after combining all the different elements of the dish made it complex, balanced, and delicious. It was a great way to end the dinner. read more

What a cute place in a somewhat desolate area for restaurants. First of all, we drove right by this place twice so keep an eye out for the big black building near the train tracks. We live not far from the area and it still snuck up on me. The inside has a clean white but trendy vibe. Because it has the industrial style though, the noise carried and it was incredibly loud. We brought my mom here during one of her many trips to Chicago. We each had wonderful brunch items - quinoa cakes, eggs Benedict and the hash. All were rockstar dishes but the Hash was the winner of the day! We also finished with the donuts and I wanted to order more. I will admit I didn't look as cool as most of the guests dining - I'm an 80 year old grandma at heart that struggles to understand the concept of Snapchat so I very much didn't fit in. read more

Delicious food, beautiful environment, kind staff! We are so happy to have you right next door to Chamberlain!!

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. Everything from the food, to the service, to the ambience was exceptional. I didn't want the meal to end. Started with the mussels, hamachi crudo, beef tartare, and homemade bread. I could've drank the curry sauce the mussels were in, it was that good. We ordered all three pastas which were phenomenal. For our entrees, we got the shitake lettuce wraps and the short rib, which were the tables favorites. The flavors in the wraps were insanely good and fresh and the short rib just melted in your mouth. I'm not a huge fan of carrots, but we got the side of carrots which were delicious and a must get. Food is interesting. Not blown away but interesting. Unfortunately service is slow. I mean we're talking 20 minutes before being greeted, then 40 minutes until order taken. Server mostly unapologetic and then overcharged us. Management might as well be aloof and can't tell what is going on. If the food is at least good you have a shot but you can't be running 2.5 hr dinners, because your server neglects a table all night and is unapologetic. Needs work. Brunch review - the place is super cute and they have parking which is great. The rest was just ok. Besides the burger, everything is eggs/breakfast food. They really need more variety with salads and a couple of sandwiches. I had a quinoa cakes, they were tasty. My friend has the egg crab scramble which was good. Would have gotten the benedict with crab but adding $7 to a $13 dollar dish is a little ridiculous. Service was pretty poor. Didn't get any offers to refill my iced tea which was empty for over half of the meal. Had a girls night out at Eden last week - the food and service in the restaurant were great, the bartender seemed a little overwhelmed, especially considering the place wasn't too packed. Our server was very attentive and in tune with our night, he saw that we were a few girls catching up and chatting and popped by a few times, looked around to make eye contact from a few feet away, and then moved on noting that we wanted for nothing. He was excellent. The umami doughnuts were fun, and the salmon crudo was great. Lamb and beef meatballs were nice, nothing to write home about, but all in all good dishes!
