"SLICED" brisket. More like chopped brisket from the bottom of the pan. Don't mistake the shine for juice, it's oil.

My mom and little brother came here for a plate of SLICED brisket w/two sides. My little brother got fries and mac and cheese. When they got home and showed me what they got, because husband is an avid smoker, it was upsetting. Firstly the brisket was not sliced, more like chopped. When I took the plate out the bag I had a waterfall of oil spill all over the counter and down my arm. That was a warning in itself that we were served the bits at the bottom of the pan. Now for the food. I always try to judge fairly understanding that the meats were most likely smoked in the morning and this was dinner. Still, even with the two packs of bbq sauce mixed in the brisket was dry. It lacked basic seasoning and of course, was oily. Mac and cheese could have used some more salt, and maybe work on incorporating the cheese in better. There were chunks of cheese and sauce that had separated. Noodles were mush. And lastly the fries, the only thing that was finished. I asked my mom how much she paid for this and she responded $14. For what we got, I say that should be brought down at least $5. Very disappointed. We always try to help out our small businesses but we will not be returning.

    Chopped pork sandwich

This isn't bad. But it's definitely overpriced for the portions. For $10 (no drink included) I should be two-handing my sandwich. VERY small sides portions. The pork is fine but the bun and sides are very store bought. There's better options close by so I doubt I'll go back.

I had BBQ ribs that I enjoyed. Even though I live in Atlanta, it is worth it to go back and try other things on the menu. Also, the restaurant is in downtown Monroe, GA which is surrounded by ample unique shops to make your visit even more exciting.

Server stopped to take our drink order about 10 minutes later. Drinks arrived and we placed our very simple scoop and serve orders of pulled pork. Then we waited. And waited. Watched as others who ordered 30 minutes after us received their food. I was in the restaurant industry for 20 years, and I know bbq is 90% scoops and serve. Asked the server and she said it'll be out in 2 minutes. (Standard response). 15 minutes later my lady friend had had enough, as did I. Asked for the gm, who I assume wasn't available. Then our cold food arrived. And we were charged the full amount without any sort of apology. Almost 2 hours we waited for simple bbq. Here's my advice for the restaurant. When your kitchen or servers can't produce. Your managers need to "hold the door". Put the door on a 20-30 minute wait so you can catch up. Obviously there's a lack in management here, or at least there was on that day. They continued to seat folks and I kept asking myself (why?)

We said,…read morewe should go. in my email box this week is my weekly Yelp suggestions and what is at the top? Smitty's! It is a "plate of shrimp" moment of off we go. Smitty's is about a mile up 51 from the biggest truck stop interchange on 85. The building complex is a very cool set of older buildings that look like a barbecue restaurant. There is a giant stack of wood outside so this looks promising. When you go in, seats yourself and someone will be there to serve you right away. The menu is typical barbecue fare with a couple other items too. I ordered the brisket plate, Megan had a chicken fried steak. The brisket was tender and smokey with a little salt and pepper in the seasoning. It was good and meaty. The fries were good as was the okra. The stew was flavorful with tomato and corn. Megan's chicken fried steak was very good. It was beefy and tender and cooked just right. Her potato came with big cups of butter, cheese, and sour cream. And she ate her whole salad. This was a special road trip for use because of the Yelp suggestion. But if we are back in the area again we will defiantly hit them up again.

Just a post (3/12/26) if you are looking for pulled pork or anything like that, call ahead. They only had hamburgers, fried fish type bbq joint food. They were out of anything smoked for a bit of time.
