Omg. Absolutely disgusting. Stopped thru yesterday coming from Athens back to Atl. Everyone says its so good. I dont get it. Got 1/2 gal stew, same size pork, greens, and stuffed mushrooms. $85 for that shit. Stew was ok, Walkers is better, pork was gross tasted like its been frozen for 10 yrs. Just old and musty, we threw it out. Greens again were just ok, no stand out seasoning or nothin. Mushrooms were the best, but again just ok nothing special. Wont ever go back. read more

I went to a Stripling's in South Georgia on the way back from Florida and grabbed some meats and sausages and they were awesome. I decided to use Yelp and see if there were any near me or within a more reasonable drive and found one near Athens. I drove 3 hours round trip to grab some hamburger and ground sirloin for burgers and mild sausage for breakfast. It's worth it. The burgers I made were off the hook! I grabbed a bone in pork chop as well which I smoked later and it too was great. It's just a great little country store with a great selection of items and fantastic meats. read more

With life being so busy it feels great being able to come here and feel at home with the small town country vibe. The southern hospitality is in full effect with everyone just being genuinely kind and ready to help. The food bar will have you drooling with all the comfort food you did not know you need. Our favorites at Striplings, besides prepared foods, are definitely their sausages. By the lb or some are offered in links. My husband loves the jalapeño cheddar sausage links. The last time I went I didn't see them so I got it by the lb and that was kinda messy to cook. LOL The gentleman at the meat department was super patient with me as I was buying all my sausage by the lb. I was also buying some for my elderly neighbor who is in love with Striplings sage sausage so I got her a lb of each as well. I probably left with 10lbs of sausage that day. I'm torn about this place, the lunch food is really good, choice of drinks is decent. They make your styrofoam trays up pretty quick but if you ask a question, they aren't too helpful and I always seem to get the grouchy server. I keep going back because the lunch food is good and reasonably priced. The grocery food prices in the store are a bit high and the meat is expensive as well. They do have unique items to buy, however and it's very southern, which I love. The cashiers are super nice and friendly, that's another reason I go back. read more

This was the 3rd and final time I go to this place. Several of this checkout people are snotty and disrespectful. It's bad enough I'm paying $20 + for mediocre food, I shouldn't also get sass from the checkout people. This is the kind of place where there are the regulars and everyone else. Their card tap reader is always down (you'd think with the overpriced food they'd be able afford to get it fixed) and the front sliding door doesn't work; I stood outside until a regular came and opened the door, no employee ever came out and did anything with closed door. Very poor customer service skills. They have a "you don't like it you can leave" attitude, fine by me as I won't go back. read more

Until now, I have been going to Stripling's for a number of years a few times a month. In addition to the fresh meats, unique gifts, and other goodies, I love their hot bar and frequently bring home a delicious plated meal. Nearly all of the employees are over and beyond helpful and friendly. However, on a recent visit, as I was paying for my meal at the front counter, the flimsy styrofoam container buckled and spilled it on the counter. The young man waiting on me was apologetic, as was I, even though it was not my doing. The grouchy woman working next to him, grimaced at him and said that I had spilled the plate. [I suppose technically I did spill the plate but it was because one side of the plate gave way as I picked it up.] He cleaned the counter, got another plate for me from the hot bar, and once again we each apologized as I went on my way. Fast forward to today when my charge card bill came in. They CHARGED ME FOR BOTH PLATES. Shame, shame, shame. I hate to give up my Stripling's shopping, but I'm DISGUSTED! Boo! Hoo! I grow up in a small town and this place feels like home. People are amazing and the breakfast and lunch are from Grandmas kitchen. The meat department is the best. They have a farm where the grow there own hogs. Want find a better price in baby backs. (If you do let me know) If you never tried the home made cakes don't, you will be hooked. read more

I use to pass by this store every day on my way to work and would stop to get coffee, a breakfast biscuit of some sort and fill up. On my way home I loved picking up a little bowl of Brunswick Stew. It Is Delicious!!! Makes my mouth water just typing this... Now I only get to stop by when we are heading to and from Atlanta or Alabama, so I make it a point to Always stop in and grab some. They have a large selection of other hot items to choose from and a Butcher on site. The meats are raised from local farms and all the produce, Jams & Jellies are locally sourced. They even have an Entire Aisle dedicated to BBQ Sauce from All Over!!! Prices are on the higher end but you definitely pay for what you get. Don't drive by this hidden gem of a "General Store!" From the moment you walk in it's not JUST a gas station. Stripling's has a small selection of fresh produce some of it locally grown. As you browse through the aisles there's a mixture of just about anything and everything. Pottery, puzzles, grills, pictures, candles, soaps, lotions, and other speciality items local to Georgia and some not. The back end is a butcher area with some of the best meat I've ever seen. But it doesn't stop there. As you work your way through the store there's an area where they make and serve fresh biscuits for breakfast and Brunswick stew for lunch (and more). The staff isn't overly friendly which is fine - they could use a refresher on customer service and making customers feel southern hospitality. However, don't go for the workers...go for the experience and selection of goods! read more

What an awesome place! Today was my first visit to Stripling's General Store, and I have to say I'm a little glad it's a bit of a drive from my house! So many neat things to buy. The best meats I've found, plus yummy cakes, and an old fashioned soda cooler filled with all your favorite Nehi flavors! The best part of my experience was the staff. Very welcoming and helpful.
