Absolutely the best butcher shop in the area, if not the entire region. Patton's has real butchers who are trained to trim and prepare meats as you need them. We had an amazing bone in rib roast for Christmas that was perfectly trimmed and tied. Ground beef is the best anywhere. The weekly sale prices are incredible for the quality. Chicken is from local farmers and not pumped full of hormones. They usually have a wonderful selection of seafood and fish as well. We live 25 minutes away but drive to Patton's once or twice a month for all of our meat and seafood (we vacuum seal and freeze the haul). So worth it. I love Patton's. They carry all the meats you can think of and more. They are always so friendly and helpful. We signed up for their email newsletter and they have specials each week. We have gotten various types of meat and seafood and everything is fresh and delicious. The pricing is pretty reasonable as well. They also have local vegetables and rubs. The steak selection is outstanding. If you want to get something that is a better quality than your local grocery store, this is where to go. Just be prepared to have a little sticker shock! I drove 15 miles on a Thursday afternoon specifically to go to this market. I have been a few times and never had an issue. I was the only customer there, and was told by someone they would be right with me. Then they proceeded to do paperwork and ignore me. There were at least 8 other people, including who I assume was a manager/owner as he did not have on a black t-shirt, and they all ignored me. After 5 minutes, the person doing paperwork picked up his calculator and walked away. And then I walked away. At that point, they have shown me how much they value me, and I listened, and I took my money elsewhere. Simply put, there is no better place for meat in Atlanta than Patton's. Are they cheap? No, but do you want to eat cheap meat? If you want cheap meat go to Kroger; let me know how that works out. When I want to eat a steak at home or serve a Beef Wellington, Patton's is the only place I will shop. And the customer service is out of this world. We had unexpected guest show up from out of town, so I called Parker and asked if he had a Crown Roast of Pork? Normally this would require at LEAST three days notice anywhere else. Patton's? If you're looking for a specific cut and want that personalized experience, Patton's Meat Market is probably where you're going to get that. The only downside is that since this is a small business, you're probably going to be paying more for what you could at other places. But, for when you're looking for a very specialized cut this is probably the place that you can definitely get it. I came here to buy a bone in rib roast. I had the option of prime, or choice, and going choice was what I went with and still spent about $200 for a 3 bone roast! I believe the prime was even pricier at $39-40 a pound and for a 10 pound roast, yeah you can imagine it can get pricey. However, if you're coming here for other pieces of meats, but want a special cut or have it cut in a specific way, Patton's can definitely do that for you! The butchers are very nice and very talkative and is willing to accommodate for anything you need. I would say to come here if you're looking for something specific. If you're looking for a more personal experience, definitely would recommend you to come here or if you want to have more control over the meats that you buy. You're going to be paying more, but if price or money is not an issue I would definitely recommend Patton's! read more

This place isn't very big inside so it's pretty much a one way street going through. But they have packed it tight with stuff. The staff are super helpful & friendly. One gentleman helped us pick out steak while we stared around with our mouths open. They also have produce, pickles, sauces, cheese, cured meats, and more. We live out in Sandy springs so it was a trek to come here but worth it. They have a mailing list where they tell you about the specials of the week too. Bacon was only $6-7/lbs today & they had tomahawks but those were a little too pricey for us at $19.99/lbs & one weighed around 3 lbs. So we got a piece of bone in ribeye & a porterhouse steak for a couple dinners this week. It's in a shopping center beside a gas station and the other stores look a bit dilapidated in comparison but Patton's looks renovated outside. Worth the drive from college park to come here. Great customer service and selection in meats. $100 worth of meat can last over a month in my freezer for my family of 4. I take advantage of the 5lb deals they have. They also supply a nice selection of seasonings, rubs and marinades to try. I go a little after they open to beat the lines only wait is for fresh cuts which I definitely don't mind waiting on. Great cuts for a reasonable price. Ordered some Tomahawks for a party and was really surprised at how affordable they were. $24/lb for prime tomahawks is a steal deal. The quality was great and the taste was spectacular. Every gram of meat was completely devoured by our guests (even on the bone!) We'll be coming here from now on to get our steaks. Great meat market but some newer employees are just not very knowledgeable about what all they have and can do. I am glad another employee overheard my conversation and offered to help get out US Prime Ribeye that was not on the front display fridge. They got a fresh Chuck of meat and cut it to the specification I provided. The meat was really fresh. At the counter at checkout they recommended the Patton's Steak Rub which I tried and the end result of the cooked steak tasted amazing. You get what you pay for for sure. read more

Such a fantastic meat market. Small, but mighty! There is a queue to get to the counter, but tons of folks to help with your order. The line moved quickly and the staff was so friendly and helpful. There are a ton of seasonings, sauces, and some produce to purchase, too. Once you are finished with your selections, you proceed to the back(or side?) to pay. Then there is a dedicated exit door right next to the registers. We have been twice in a 8 days and cannot wait to go back. We've made a household decision to stop buying from Publix and Kroger if it's something Patton's have in stock. USDA Prime tenderloin from here is amazing along with the NY Strip. Steaks are perfect for just a dry brine in salt with nothing else needed. I usually make my own au poivre or bordelaise sauce from scratch, but I haven't since buying from Patton's. There's no need for it. For Thanksgiving we ordered a whole chicken fryer and made a French chicken in a pot. We're not buying chicken from any of the major supermarkets again either. It can be a traffic jam in the store on the weekends but you won't regret your purchase! read more

Absolutely amazing! Went for my first time here last week and my only disappointment is that I didn't go sooner. When you walk in to the market you are greeted by a surprisingly decent variety of fresh produce that looked and tasted very fresh! Moving into the store and seeing all the meats that they offer can be intimidating the first time. Luckily for me the team member that helped me was so detailed and walked me through all the proteins and top sellers. I ended up getting some boneless ribeyes, pork rib chops, brisket burgers and steak burgers. Every last protein I ended up getting was absolutely amazing! I was worried the boneless ribeye would not have enough flavor but it did not disappoint! I will definitely be returning to try other proteins such as the seafood, chicken, and sausages. read more

I live in Athens where we do not have a meat market like Patton's. When I can I stop by and buy my meats. This is the best place to buy pork belly. It is skinless and comes in 4-5 pound sections. Perfect for my smoker and will feed a UGA tailgate. They introduced me to Brazilian picanha that was delicious. It is a more intense flavored sirloin type steak. Their ribeyes and strips are good and grill nicely. I also enjoyed their hot dogs. Better than any supermarket dogs including Nathan's and Hebrew National. I would give Patton's 100 stars if I could. I probably go at least once a week and sometimes more; so I am not sure what took this review so long. One of my favorite local businesses. Feels like how meat is supposed to be sold. Everything is good! Lovely produce, fresh seafood (small but adequate selection), prepared foods, and of course, lots of meat. We've had about everything at this point (save for some of the high end Wagyu they now carry) and its all super high quality. We purchase boneless/skinless chicken breast weekly and it's vastly superior to the standard grocery store variety. The hot dogs are seriously the best you'll ever have. Eating them today on the 4th (with some of their delicious brisket and steak burgers) is what prompted me to finally write this review. Also, can't write the review without mentioning the wonderful staff - Always smiling, always a cheerful greeting, everyone is always hustling. Always doing their best to please their customers. They make doing what is essentially a necessary errand something I look forward to. read more

These folks are great! I went in there with a very unusual request for a piece of meat to be butterflied and cut down the bone. They had never done this before so I showed them some pictures from my phone. Several of the guys who worked behind the counter gathered around to take a look, and one of them said he was willing to give it a try, and if it didn't turn out to my satisfaction, I wouldn't have to pay for it! They all gave the gentleman who was doing the cutting some input on how they thought he should cut it, and it turned out great! I ended up having them cut more of the meat and barbecued it later that evening. I have been to this place more than 3 Times and the first time I came it was just my husband and I and we got ribeye steaks, pepper bacon, CenterCut PorkChops, Lobster Tails, Shrimp and everything was excellent and so fresh and delicious when I cooked it. I love most things about this meat market! I drive 40 minutes in good traffic and drive past about 3 other meat markets, including two within ten minutes of my home. The guys working the counters are TOP NOTCH! I would put them up against ANY OTHER and feel confident that I would not lose! These guys are friendly, knowledgeable, and down right fun to be around! I can't say enjoy about them--they get it! And OF COURSE the meats are best in the city! Always fresh and if it's not right they make it right! They also have a bunch of other goodies (spices, "sides", bakery items--GET THAT CARAMEL CAKE!!!, sauces, stuff for your grills, hell, a few grills )! My one "issue" is with the ladies at check out. My guess is that they don't know any better. But not greeting a customer (a very good one), and not pausing the conversation you're having with your colleague about WHATEVER while a paying customer stands there for more than a minute waiting yo be helped is UNACCEPTABLE: it's entirely too distasteful for a place like this--or for ANY PLACE THAT DEPENDS ON ITS CUSTOMERS FOR BUSINESS! This is now the only place I will by meat from if I can help it. The beef is all certified angus and it makes a huge difference. There ribs are awesome and they make their own sausage and hotdogs. I will go out of my way to get meat from these guys if I have no other option. They need to be open on sunday or extend their hours though. read more

I'm updating my review, as the fiance' and I have been back to Patton's many times since that first day back in August 2012. For xmas we got the most delicious beef rib roast that I've ever had. Surely, part of this is due to me being a genius in the kitchen, but I will gladly share the glory with that beautiful piece of meat we bought (and devoured). We also love the sausage, and this week we had some great bone-in pork chops. Oh, and how did I forget the ground lamb I used to make my famous lamb burgers! It's shocking that I haven't tried the chicken yet, but my biggest problem in making it to Patton's is remembering to make a second stop after leaving Publix..or the laziness factor. Aside from the excellent quality, I've been beyond impressed by the level of service I get there. Nobody rushes me when I want to look around a bit and they answer any questions I may have - including the best way to cook the rib roast (my first!) - without making me feel stupid. I really don't think the prices are high at all, especially with the high quality we've experienced. read more
