This grocery store was recommended to me specifically for the sushi!!! I was instantly surprised by the variety and our abundance of sushi they had in store!! Very impressive compared to Kroger and other grocery stores with sushi. The price was great as well as the portions were an amazing size!! I was so excited to try it and it did not disappoint me at all. You can tell the meat is very fresh. This will definitely be my go to fast sushi spot in athens from now on!! read more

It's a good little naturopathic market with still some common groceries. Of course it's a little pricier for the organics but seem to compare with other bigger chains like Sprouts and Whole Foods. Everyone who works there seems friendly and relatively knowledgeable. And the store itself is not overwhelming with anything easy to find. The deli has some nice prepared foods. The baked goods seem to be brought in but are high quality. Not an everyday store but good for stocking up on high quality stuff. read more

My mom and I love Earth Fare and we have been coming here for years. Our favorite is the hot and cold bar where the food is priced per pound. Their tofu is amazing and there are several vegan options. I especially love the vegan gumbo and the vegan "chicken" fajitas. There is a nice place to sit and eat (either indoor or outdoor) or they have to-go boxes if you wish to take the food home. The bakery is amazing and we always get cookies...even for sweets we try and stay away from things with preservatives. There are lots of soaps, candles, and other natural care products. We also love the bulk items where you can get nuts, lentils, beans, etc. You can grind your own nut butter (peanut and almond) and I have even found some exotic dried fruits like goji berries. It is a bit expensive but I believe worth every penny since we are trying to live the natural, green, and (mostly) vegan way (that cheese is hard to give up)! read more

I asked when an out of stock item was going to be back in stock, and was told "It isn't my job". This is the second time I've encountered this item being out of stock and haven't gotten any resolution. Additionally there is no way to contact corporate offices. No contact form on the website. No answer to messages. This happened at the old store before they closed. When it re opened under new owners I thought things would be different. Nope. There are other options to get what I need. What a great health food store in Athens! Although it's overpriced for your typical weekly groceries, my boyfriend and I love to come here for our meats and fish. He loves to make seared ahi tuna and steak. One of the earthfare employees told us the tuna is basically sushi grade (not 100% just because it is unwrapped and placed next to other fish when on display). It is always fresh and the meats have great weekly sales. Always some interesting samples here, too. Plus, the woman at the juice stand is so sweet and answers all of our questions about the juices! read more

Athen's version of Whole Foods. Awesome staff and houses a wide variety of products. The proteins are expensive and a lot of college students may have a hard time affording even the cheaper cuts. However, you get what you pay for and the quality of the meat is great. Produce is clearly labeled with origin and fresh. My favorite part of Earth Fare is their self-serve spice section. I've finally been able to get my hands on that elusive star anise and a wide variety of spices and herbs are offered. Make sure you bring your own reusable bags! read more

I am probably going to quit wasting my time traveling over to Earthfare. While the "new" store has new fixtures and wider aisles (and brighter lights so the store does look cleaner), the management there has, if anything, gotten even worse than at the old store. Virtually every time I go over what I have gone for is out, not on the shelf or in the bulk product bins--suggesting to me that management has the store stocked early in the day and assumes that customers who come in the last two hours or so are going to be willing to purchase air (free) and be happy with the ridiculous service, or just have not figured out how to order enough product to last the two or three days until the next shipment will come in. The prices are higher on the things that I buy than at Kroger and Kroger may just be a little bit closer as far as distance goes. I'm sorry to have to say so, but I am tired of wasting my time and effort and this place is a real joke. read more

Not really amazed by what they have to offer. I live near a Whole Foods and Sprout (less than 1 mile) back in Johns Creek and Publix, Kroger, and Trader Joe's in Athens. I thought most of the precut fruits were rotten and overpriced. I ended up driving to Kroger to get some fresh watermelon pineapple and cantaloupe at $3.99. Don't let "organic" label trick u into justifying how they treat u here. Prices are similar or higher than whole foods yet they lack the quality and the selections they offer. Trader joe's honestly has better produce and meats than here. the beef and chicken have "sugar" added into them. A lot of the Amy's brand frozen meals starts at $6 while it's $4 over at Kroger. Their hot food selections look like a raggedly old high school cafeteria with white rice as the only staple. i'm sure u know white rice isn't the healthiest selection for a health conscious market. The kombucha selection is 1/2 the size of Publix and i think most customers here are labeled as hipsters and 420 friendly sort of people. read more

Super disappointed with the cake we got for my sons 5th birthday. It was supposed to have buttercream which I could have made myself but was feeling under the whether. The cake I got did not have buttercream. It was over sweet and grainy in texture. The point of a buttercream is to be a smooth like butter texture. It was just like what you would get from Kroger. I expected more from Earth Fare I thought you would have a higher standard. I will say that the actual cake part was good. But even my kids couldn't eat a whole slice cause they thought it was too sweet. You all know how much kids like sugar. Sad. Also we asked for the writing be in white on raspberry "buttercream" but they did it in a light chocolate frosting, I wish if they were going to use chocolate that they would have atleast used ganache or something comparable and the writing was very sloppy. Don't come here for the buffet food. Their lack of attention to detail is quite evident at every visit. No washed silverware available. When asked .... they said they'd be washing some in a little while .... hence. ....plastic When I asked the gentleman at the register beside the food bar where I might find the drinks .... he said he didn't know because they weren't in his department....hence.....no drink. When I got to the table the salt would not come out of the shakers because it was damp. I had to unscrew the lid and pour it into my hand to use. I'll learn. read more

Horrible to sum it up in one word! I had a special item I was shopping for and called Earth Fare ahead to determine if store had my item in stock. The individual I spoke with was seemingly unwilling and uninterested in locating requested item. Nevertheless, I was told item was in stock, providing me with the ounces and the pricing of desired purchase. From there, I when to store to retrieve requested item, ones in store seeking out item, I was told item was not in stock and hadn't been for sometime. I explained; I called in ahead, to be told by clerk, I must have called another store as this clerk had been on duty all day, furthermore, the price and ounces I stated I was quoted, the store did not have. Interesting! Hence, I left store when home and called store back (same number as earlier call) to speak with store manager, to learn the store has never had requested item. Go figure! To sum up my experience, it seems to be an issue where the unwilling store representative was lazy enough not to pay attention to what was being ask for, furthermore, the store clerk I spoke with (in store) did not care nor had the capacity to take the time to understand my request. For such a simple transaction, I would venture to say for a health food store, there does not seem to be healthy nor happy employees employed at this store. I will not be back! read more

First off; I have no problem with spending a bit extra for local, natural foods - but the prices in this Earth Fare store are absolutely INSANE. We are talking total 100% ripoff ! From the produce to their cheese counter to basic canned goods, only someone with more money than brains would shop here. But...price alone is not enough to earn this store such a low rating from me... Add to their exorbitant prices, a rude, condescending and arrogant staff, and a lousy parking situation and...bam!...1 star! Every supermarket out there these days has a natural / organic section and usually at only a small premium over non organic products. Reminds me a lot like Trader Joe's..except a tad pricier but also a tad cooler. I liked how you can scoop up the spices and buy it by the bag. AWESOME. I also enjoyed drinking this green drink (called super food) which tasted a lot like apple juice + healthy stuff. Yum. Near the front, there were a couple of booths where I saw a couple of people eating some to-go containers of sandwich/pasta. Another person was sitting and sipping coffee on the laptop. Yeah, I don't know. This place is kind of freaking outlandish when it comes to produce prices. And their selection of prepared food is kind of...not really a thing? I don't know, it seems like Ripoff City. And I think they only carry like two brands of grass fed butter? I know that's kind of a really bougie complaint, but whatever. Grass fed butter is one of the few luxuries left in my life, so I get kind of anal about it. Anywhorebots, their staff is pretty alright, even when I give them death eyes (every time I'm there), and their pizza slices are MASSIVE for less than $4. Do you like fresh flies in your food? Do you enjoy soggy lettuce? If you said yes to either of these, then earth fare in Athens is the place to go! As I was making my salad at the salad bar I noticed an abnormal amount of flies. It grossed me out, but none were in the food. As I moved over to the hot bar to grab chicken, as I moved it there it was. A dead fly just sitting on the chicken. THROW UP. I immediately put it down. And told a girl working by the coffee. I then asked if it was okay to throw out, which she said yes. Absolutely disgusting. Although the salad/hot bar are nothing incredible, just one island worth of choices, I expected more. At least food worth consuming. All 3 lettuce options were soggy and looked like they'd been sitting there for hours. And even the selection of toppings was sub par. I DO NOT RECOMMEND the hot bar/salad bar. I ended up getting a frozen dinner, yogurt, an orange and cut up pineapple. Typical grocery store run while on the road traveling for work. This is like a mini Whole Foods or a Trader Joe's or some other mini organic grocery store... I like my organic, healthy, and delicious foods, so I like this place. I normally don't like shopping for groceries, but I actually like walking through this place, so that's saying a lot! It's within walking distance from where I live, so that's super convenient. Every visit is always a satisfactory one. I actually like everything about this place, but 4 stars because of only one real reason: Prices. Prices are generally freakishly high and sometimes, they make my heart stop and I hurriedly put the item back on the shelf. But even though the prices do make my wallet frown a bit, I would rather buy organic than head over to some regular grocery chain. read more

I'm a huge fan of Earth Fare, having basically lived out of this store for four years. Think 1/6th Whole Foods size box with more friendly/personable service. Better product selection than Fresh Market and better merchandising than Trader Joe's. The store is always clean and has an upscale feel (along with upscale pricing). Earth Fare has it all ... hot food, smoothies, produce, wine, cheese, bakery, fresh produce (some organics), dried fruits/nuts, frozen/boxed prepared food items, candy, household cleaners and paper goods, cosmetics, bath supplies, you name it. They also have the best supply of vegan/vegetarian/gluten free items in Athens to my knowledge (including frozen items, breads, soy/rice "dairy" products, and faux-meat proteins). I ate nearly solely from Earth Fare as a vegan for one year and found everything I needed. Their student discount days were especially helpful. Highly recommended. read more

When I first moved I had to come to terms with how spoiled Atlanta had made me with all its non-dairy and semi hard to find, niche, whatchamadoodles. Thankfully, there's Earth Fare, an equally pricy outlet for all my whatchamadoodle needs. I really do like Earth Fare, and they are pricy, but they have some great stuff. They have the bulk bins of grain, nuts, and seeds, a juice bar, a small bakery with various treats. They also have King of Pops popsicles. I haven't tried the hot bar, but their sushi and deli isn't that bad. As a store, it's clean, staff is friendly, produce looks tip top, and they carry a lot of the organic/health conscious products you commonly spot at other similar stores. Cool features--- spice bar, fresh nut butter, and a small pasta station. Some local brands and brands uncommon to other stores. Earth Fare also stands as one of the few health food stores next to Daily Co-op. Given I don't do all my shopping here, it is nice to buy a few snacks and those not so easy to find items. read more

In the absence of a Whole Foods in the Athens area, Earth Fare is a great substitute. I solely buy the organic grass fed meats and seafood as they have a wonderful selection here. The Earth Fare brands are exceptional from the potato chips to the oils. I am really glad Athens has something like this in town. read more

Located in the heart of 5 points. Just one of the many organic healthy grocery stores in the area. Friendly staff and great atmosphere. They have a great display of desserts. Products here are pricer than other places. Lots of choices and they have a hot bar. All of it looks delicious. If you are looking to save money, go to Trader Joes. I can't afford a lot of this stuff but that doesn't stop me from wandering aimlessly around the store everytime I'm in the area. It's really great to have a store like this in Athens, since they don't have a Whole Foods.. I once met an Emory professor who teaches on food sustainability that Earth Fare is waaaay better than Whole Foods and that they shouldn't even be compared.. that she'd actually be inclined to drive all the way to Athens just to shop there! The absolute best selection of food you can trust beyond getting it directly from the farmers. i also love the fresh food bar, smoothies and fresh juice drinks. Zeus Juice rules! I was really happy to see Earthfare come back to Athens, now I am more than a little bit disappointed: So, where's the Pacific Original Hemp Milk? When we asked someone at the store why you were out for the SECOND WEEK IN A ROW, they said they would contact the "Dairy Manager" (not). I think someone offered to "special order" it the week before. This is something you are supposed to STOCK IN YOUR DAMNED STORE, not something we have to wait 7 to 10 working day for as a "special order". We went to Fresh Market and they had plenty of it. If you guys really want to succeed with with your resurrection from bankruptcy, you really need to lose the "it's not my job attitude" and actually make it possible to contact customer service somewhere besides facebook. If the customer practically has to take on a "second job" to shop in your store and deal with customer service concerns, we will ALL go somewhere else eventually if not sooner and soon your store will be the blighted empty building in our neighborhood that it was before you staged your comeback. I needed to drive 25mi to get to the store. Produce manager was very nice and another employee helped me fine the vitamin I was looking for. Now, when it came to checking out the boy that was bagging stepped away doing nothing. The cashier did not bag either. Once I stepped away the boy went back to bagging. It there something I'm not aware of that they made me feel like a leper. I may be a little over 60 but dang I was showing no signs of being sick. I would more likely get covid19 from him then me getting him sick! The 2 stars I gave were for the produce manager and young lady that helped me read more

The buffet/hot bar has a huge selection of foods. Some of which I had no idea what they were but there was an employee there to help me out. There produce and dried fruits are great. This store really does have it all. And it's all good for you, too! I love that they carry local items as well. Even their cleaning products are great. The only downfall of this store is the parking situation. It is like a lottery drawing getting a space at times. But well worth the gamble! read more
