They had lots of fun looking drinks but I just stuck with a vodka/cran. It was strong but not overwhelming like some dive bars. I loved all the funny signs around the bar and the bartender, Joy was very friendly. I want to check out another night when there are more people. Just as a side note, the parking lot was a bit sketchy -- I arrived around 730pm on a Monday so it wasn't very late -- There is a weird split in the parking lot one side is the Aldi side (which seemed more populated with people going in and out of the store) and the other side is a bunch of shops that were closed . There were some interesting people chilling out in their cars and yelling to each other when I came out - I was by myself and felt a little sketched by it, but I was fine.

You can tell right away this is the kind of place regulars come back to often. Food I didn't try much food, but I did have the cheese crisp and it was solid. Light, flaky, and more like an open-faced tostada than a quesadilla. It came topped with green chili and chicken, and everything worked well together. Based on that, I'd expect the rest of the menu to be consistent, even if it's not trying to reinvent the wheel. Service Service was efficient, especially considering how busy it was. No complaints here... you can tell the staff knows how to handle a full house and keep things moving. Ambience This is where the place stands out. The vibe feels like a food network designed a biker bar, but in a fun, not over-the-top way. It's also apparently a Kansas City Chiefs bar, which adds to the identity. There was a live band playing early 2000s rock hits, which kept the energy up. Crowd was friendly overall, very much a neighborhood crowd. Overall This isn't a destination bar, but it's a really solid go-to if you live nearby. Think of it as an elevated dive/sports bar with a strong local following. Good drinks, good energy, and a place that does what it's supposed to do well.

I met my brother there and since we were early we decided to get a bite to eat. There were some other dudes who'd bikes were there for the shoot as well and they told us the Playa had the best burgers in the WORLD so we decided to check it out. This was, what I would call the epitome of a neighbor hood bar. A dive bar or mini sports bar or whatever. My favorite kind. The bar tenders were awesome and they treated their customers just like family. Of course a few of those family members might be considered the black sheep so they had to put them in their places but it was all in good fun. We both ordered a burger with fries. First off, the fries were out of this world good! Perfect crisp on the outside and perfect soft on the inside with some sort of coating that made them amazing! Now the burgers? The best in the WORLD burgers?! Well I can't confirm they are the best in the world, because I haven't been everywhere IN the world but let me say, this was probably one of the best burgers I have ever had! Thick with just the right amount of juicy and the flavor was crazy good. The bun looked like a regular old sesame seed bun but it was slightly denser but not too heavy and it complimented the overall pallet experience perfectly. We sat there talking about these burgers and fries like we had hadn't eaten in 5 years plus we were very entertained by the bar tenders and the college football championship games that were on TV. 5 stars for sure, so if you are ever in the area of 32st and Shea blvd, stop in and grab yourself an amazing lunch or dinner!

Fun atmosphere & good bar food - had a solid Cheeseburger & fries + a Cape Cod. My friend had Fried Zucchini & a beer. This place felt very Cheers-ish - like everyone knew everyone, so good neighborhood bar. I chatted up ladies behind me & they were super nice. Yay for a positive Friday night!

Coach House is a year-round Christmas-themed bar. Located in Old Town Scottsdale, a block or two away from Fifth Avenue, there's a parking lot that was pretty full when I arrived. If you can't find a spot, you can find some free street parking close by (max of three hours). Ambiance (4/5): A lot of holiday pop-ups these days have entrance fees and expensive holiday-themed cocktails. You'll find none of that pretentiousness here. There's no entrance fee and no elaborate cocktails. The reason to visit is the multitude of Christmas lights that adorn both the patio and the indoor area. There are also a bunch of TVs which makes it a good spot to check out the game. It's mostly a patio bar, but there is some room indoors too. As well as Golden Tee and another game. Service (4.5/5): There's a bouncer checking your ID before you come in. From there, there's a larger bar inside where you can order a drink from one of two bartenders (at least when I was there) or a smaller outdoor bar with one bartender (at least when I was there). There's a cash discount (which I always appreciate). What that means is that they don't charge you tax if you pay by cash. While the bar was busy, the bartenders working were efficient. Food (N/A): Coach House doesn't serve food but they did have a Mexican food truck posted up on the patio while I was there. I didn't have any food during my visit though. Drinks (N/A): Since The Coach House is a dive bar, expect a full bar, but don't expect fancy cocktails. Ordering simple mixed drinks or beer is the way to go. They were out of Montucky Cold Snacks so I went with a Woodchuck Cider for $6. Affordable prices in the heart of Scottsdale... I'll take that any day of the week! Speaking of Christmas miracles, while I was sipping my beer on the patio, I saw two black SUVs pull up. A group of people came out of the cars and there was one person who I immediately recognized. Former NBA MVP and multiple NBA all-star Steve Nash! As a big basketball fan, having a brew at the same bar as a Phoenix Suns legend was pretty epic. On Christmas nonetheless.

Seams to be a lot of regulars. I find both the bar staff and security staff to be friendly. Don't expect to find a nice wine or any but they have plenty of beer and can make most cocktails. Located on Cave Creek Road, I had passed by this bar several times and was excited to finally try it out. While I parked across the street at the venue where I was for my event prior, I did notice that they had a decent amount of free parking available. Ambiance (4/5): Cactus Tavern is a dive bar with some Arizona flair. Given the name of the bar, I expected some cactus decor. It did not disappoint...including square lights with cactus cut-outs above each table. There are several high top tables as well as seating at the bar. It's not a huge bar, probably fits 50 people or so, and it was about 90% at capacity when I was there. They also have one pool table. Seems like the type of place where regulars come, which is always a plus in my book. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a great job taking care of us despite being quite busy. She was friendly, efficient, and made some recommendations when I asked for some. Pro tip: they give you a cash discount, so if you'd like to save a little bit, make sure you bring cash. Drinks (4/5): With it being a dive bar, the options are going to be on a simpler side. They had eight or so beers on tap, so not a large selection, but I ended up going with a WOW Wheat. A few local beers, plus some usual suspects like Coors Light, Dos Equis, Modelo, etc. While the selection didn't blow my socks off, the prices are reasonable. That counts for a lot. Food (4.5/5): According to Yelp, Cactus Tavern is known for their quesabirria tacos. Since quesabirria is one of my favorite Mexican foods, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't. You get three quesabirria tacos (birria meat, cilantro, cheese, and onions), fresh off the griddle, served with a green salsa and consommé. These were hands down some of the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were served right off the grill, the meat was flavorful, and the oozy cheese was delicious. With a side of elote (on the cob), it made for the perfect meal. This is not your typical bar food, y'all. It's a notch or two above. I was pleasantly surprised. And like the drinks, the food prices are affordable too. Pro tip #2: if you're looking for deals beyond the cash discount, they have daily discounts on various items including a burger and a pint, Philly cheesesteak, etc. depending on the day.
