It was not only made perfectly: BUT, also served in the correct tall cylindrical cocktail glass (kudos to the bartender.) The noise level is high like most sports bars. That's why I was surprised to see so many open tables on a Saturday around 12:30 p.m., especially with multiple high-profile college football games going on. I ordered a Reuben and fries along with a draft beer. The fries were excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, the Reuben missed the mark. The menu describes it as corned beef on rye with sauerkraut and Swiss cheese, but my sandwich came out with white American cheese (more common in a Philly cheesesteak). I pointed this out to the bartender, who told me, "White American IS our Swiss cheese." I realize I'm probably more particular about food than the average customer, but this is exactly the kind of attention to detail that I think is holding the place back. If you're going to put something specific on the menu, the ingredients should match what's described. That said, I think there's a lot of potential here. The space is great, the staff was friendly, and the fries were on point. If they refined the menu and ingredients--and perhaps even pared the menu back a bit to focus on delivering consistently better food at a reasonable price point--I think Kimmyz could have a much bigger draw, particularly on game days. I wanted to like this place, and I think with a little more attention to the food and execution, it could become a really good neighborhood sports bar.

For appetizers, the chicken skewers are a must order. They're always a favorite and disappear quickly from the table. We also love the beer cheese pretzels. My husband is a big fan of the Zipps wings with the Golden sauce, while my son prefers his wings naked. We also like the Nachos and get them with all the veggies! If you're looking for a lighter option, I highly recommend the tuna sandwich on wheat bread. It's generously sized, comes with your choice of side, and is easily big enough to share. And of course, you can't visit Zipps without ordering a Zipperita! They offer several flavor options, but we're partial to the original. When it's especially busy, service can be a little slow, but the servers are friendly and clearly working hard to keep up with the crowd. One extra perk for families: there are games in the back for the kids, so be sure to bring a few dollar bills. It's a great way to keep them entertained while you enjoy your meal. Whether you're watching a game, celebrating after a game, or just looking for a casual family meal, Zipps is a reliable choice!

Food is never cooked the way you request it to be and waiters/waitresses are so incredibly slow and leave tables unattended for long periods of time. The manager, Zach, is very nice but the whole operation is lacking. The zipparitas also often come out pre-poured, so they're melted and watery at the bottom then become liquid too quickly.

The Rooster has an upscale dive bar feel with a welcoming vibe and eclectic décor that makes it feel both fun and comfortable. I was told I had to try the frozen espresso martini, and it did not disappoint. It was creamy, rich, and absolutely delicious. It was definitely like a dessert! After that, I asked what other frozen drinks were on the menu and was told about the frozen orange creamsicle with vodka. Of course, I had to try it and wow, it was fantastic! Refreshing, citrusy, and perfect for a warm day. We had already eaten lunch, so we only stopped in for drinks, but all of the food coming out of the kitchen looked great. We did order the fried pickles to share, and they were very good. We'll definitely be back to The Rooster to watch a game and enjoy another frozen espresso martini or orange creamsicle sometime soon.

The menu touts the place as the "Luxury Neighborhood Dive" and the atmosphere and decor screams just that. While the bar was not luxurious, the atmosphere and decor epitomized "divey". The atmosphere during the games increased the attractiveness of the tavern and made me want to return on different days. I can definitely see why this is a neighborhood jaunt.

Located on Cave Creek Road, I had passed by this bar several times and was excited to finally try it out. While I parked across the street at the venue where I was for my event prior, I did notice that they had a decent amount of free parking available. Ambiance (4/5): Cactus Tavern is a dive bar with some Arizona flair. Given the name of the bar, I expected some cactus decor. It did not disappoint...including square lights with cactus cut-outs above each table. There are several high top tables as well as seating at the bar. It's not a huge bar, probably fits 50 people or so, and it was about 90% at capacity when I was there. They also have one pool table. Seems like the type of place where regulars come, which is always a plus in my book. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress did a great job taking care of us despite being quite busy. She was friendly, efficient, and made some recommendations when I asked for some. Pro tip: they give you a cash discount, so if you'd like to save a little bit, make sure you bring cash. Drinks (4/5): With it being a dive bar, the options are going to be on a simpler side. They had eight or so beers on tap, so not a large selection, but I ended up going with a WOW Wheat. A few local beers, plus some usual suspects like Coors Light, Dos Equis, Modelo, etc. While the selection didn't blow my socks off, the prices are reasonable. That counts for a lot. Food (4.5/5): According to Yelp, Cactus Tavern is known for their quesabirria tacos. Since quesabirria is one of my favorite Mexican foods, I couldn't say no. I'm glad I didn't. You get three quesabirria tacos (birria meat, cilantro, cheese, and onions), fresh off the griddle, served with a green salsa and consommé. These were hands down some of the best birria tacos I've ever had. They were served right off the grill, the meat was flavorful, and the oozy cheese was delicious. With a side of elote (on the cob), it made for the perfect meal. This is not your typical bar food, y'all. It's a notch or two above. I was pleasantly surprised. And like the drinks, the food prices are affordable too. Pro tip #2: if you're looking for deals beyond the cash discount, they have daily discounts on various items including a burger and a pint, Philly cheesesteak, etc. depending on the day.
