I've been to Lookout Tavern several times, and it's become a frequent spot of mine. They have great food and drink specials, and their happy hour is what you'd expect from a tavern but not bad. I also like that they update the menu from time to time, so there's usually something new to try while still keeping plenty of reliable favorites. We like the burgers but something a bit more unique that they offer are Tavern Bowls. If you're looking for a place to watch a game, this is one of the go-to spots in the area. There are TVs throughout the restaurant, making it easy to catch whatever sporting event is on. It's also very family-friendly (until later at night), which makes it a great option whether you're meeting friends or bringing the kids. Service has been consistently good on my visits, and the staff does a great job even when it's busy. Overall, it's a fun atmosphere with good food, great specials, and dependable service. Nice interior but the open ceiling and concrete floors make for poor acoustics. I went with 9 of my friends and they kindly reserved us 4 tables with a small entrance step between the tables. We couldn't hear friends at the other table just feet away. The tall stools for those tables felt too far away but the step blocked you from being able to scoot closer. My table wobbled. Our server was new, her 2nd day. She did a great job though. Prices are OK, food is ok. Had the Lookout burger, had to ask for lettuce, tomato and pickle. Fries were pretty good. read more

This updated 4 star review is specific to the Happy Hour experience. I came on a Tuesday night for Happy Hour and stayed for Bingo. Bingo was super fun and I will definitely be back for it. Now as far as happy hour goes, the food prices are a scam and the food options are blah. I truly wish that they update their happy hour menu because it's not really anything to choose with any protein. Mainly options with chips or cheese. The scam is that they have a full Caesar salad listed for $10 but an additional $5 for chicken. Now, on their regular menu, the Caesar salad is listed for $15 so, you tell me what's happy about the menu item for those hours ? Scam..... Anyway, my bartender was nice and prompt and took care of me. The restaurant was pretty empty when I got there for happy hour so it was quiet until it got closer to Bingo. This was my first time in and it was a good experience overall. The setup is really nice and open. I like the TV's and seating setup and the music wasn't obnoxiously loud. It was a Music Bingo trivia night and the players, host, and energy for the game was really good. I had heard about the burgers so I got the American Smash medium well and I subbed the American cheese for cheddar. The burger came out faster than expected and it was juicy and flavorful. The fries were meh so next time I'll try a different style of fry. I wanted some carbonation so I asked for a Sprite and I'm not sure what came out of that spout but it wasn't good. This spot is basically the best of both worlds during the day it's a small pub style eatery and then at night it kind of turns into a nightclub if you're lucky our server was really sweet... we had a group about 15 so I know she was stressed out, but she did an amazing job. Definitely a nine out of 10 would definitely recommend the wings are very crispy. Well seasoned and really good did not however like the pizza so don't waste your time. The crust was soggy but everything else is really good. If you want all your liquor order a shot, but that's generally the rule of thumb lol you know I'm here for a good time at a long time. I've been coming to this restaurant regularly, usually about once every two weeks, sometimes more depending on the weather, and I always sit outside because I bring my dog. Today around 2:00 PM, the service was extremely disappointing. I understand restaurants get busy, but this experience was unacceptable. I had to wave down the servers just to get drink refills, and there seemed to be two people covering the table, which only made things more confusing. When my food arrived, it was the wrong order. They did resend it, but when it came back, it was cold - not just cool, but literally cold. When I brought this up, the server told me I was being rude because I was upset. That was honestly the worst part of the entire experience. I wasn't trying to be rude - I was frustrated because I came here to enjoy a meal and instead felt like I had to manage the whole situation myself. When I asked to speak to the manager, I got more excuses about how busy they were, that they didn't have a host, etc. To be fair, they did remove the food from the bill, but that didn't fix the experience. I couldn't eat the meal, and instead of asking how they could make it right, the response was just excuse after excuse. Unfortunately, this was enough for me. The food is mediocre at best, the service was awful, and being told I was rude by a server for speaking up was unbelievable. My roommate and I came here for New Year's Day brunch. This is a great place for sports fans, as there are wall sized screens for viewing games. I ordered their double smash cheeseburger on gluten-free bun, with fries. Both were excellent. My roommate ordered their impressive double smashed burger topped with cheese, pulled pork, bacon, and mac and cheese- so much food, we had to take home half of the order. It's been 6 months and I want to update my review. While I haven't seen Cassandra lately, the vibe is still amazing. They have daily events that are family friendly, the food is still amazing, and Heather has been running the bar like a marathon. Derek has been a staple at the bar delivering constant support and management. The waitresses always have a smile on their face regardless of how busy it is. And may I point out Heather again as things get busy, she dials into the job and gets everything done. From making drinks, closing out tabs, ordering and delivering food.... Decided to try this place after a good strenuous hike. Walked in and the restaurant was pretty busy to start but we found seats instantly at the bar. Greeted right off the bat and got our drinks rolling so we could figure out the food. The menu is quite small and not much on it for a lunch menu but that was ok. Sometimes it's great to be basic and not have pages and pages to decide from. The beer and drinks were spot on and the burger/fries were delicious and hot the spot. The late night crowd is definitely from the higher number avenues. This was a fun spot to hang out about a year ago but it's gotten not as fun as it used to be, mainly due to the late night crowd who now goes there. The service is good and the bartenders are attentive and nice. Music is also a good hip hop mix but I'm not sure how everyone who is there unfortunately found out about it. Welp....this last visit definitely made up our mind about coming back to Lookout Tavern. We've been going every few months for the last few years for trivia on Wednesday, and I have NEVER seen a restaurant go through so many changes that negatively impact customers. First, the Happy Hour is no longer extended until 7p on wednesdays and the Happy Hour Menu is a fraction of what it used to be to be. Second, the overall menu changed every time we've visited, and it seemed like portions have gotten smaller while prices have gone way up. I understand the need for higher prices due to supply and demand, but $18 for a buffalo chicken wrap that comes with barely 1 1/2 pieces of chicken is ridiculous. Even my husband's buffalo chicken salad had HALF of the chicken it use to yet was more expensive than our last visit a few months ago. Lastly, management continues to ask for feedback and I really have to wonder if they use it. The place is constantly busy so I can't imagine they're really hurting so bad that they have to continue to increase prices and remove value for customers to come back. The only saving grace is their staff which we've always appreciated. The servers are so very nice and provide a high level of service to each table they're assigned. read more

The employees are friendly and welcoming. I had good service during my visit and felt comfortable. I sat inside at the bar, which was nice as the windows were open and I still got the outdoor feel. At the risk of sounding insufferable, the food was absolutely mid. Wings were "okay"- no more, no less. Pros: good flavor hot buffalo sauce, great ranch, not overly big and meaty. Cons: not crispy enough for my taste. Especially the flats. Could go much hotter. Crispy buffalo salad: again, mid. Decent chicken, and that's about it. I ended up zhuzhing up the salad at home with blue cheese crumbles and some additional dressing. Why am I paying $18 to make my own salad??? Overall, I won't go out of my way to be back. Went there on Sunday to introduce Mom to the place as it is one of my sons' favorite place. She commented on how nice the exterior looked and we told her how we like the patio on cool fall and winter days to watch baseball and football. Yesterday was too hot, so we sat in a booth. The manager (I think) greeted us right away and put the Dbacks game on for us. The food was great, their menu change has livened up some of the dishes. We started with the pretzel bites and they were just right. Mom is a big stickler for greasy food and she said they were just right. She had the bison burger, my son had the Big Dill, and I had the plain old American style burger. The drinks were flavorable and the experience all around was great. The entrees on the other hand left a lot to be wished for. The lasagna was literally inedible. Full of grease and lacked any resemblance to lasagna. The meatloaf needed a ton of spice and a rework. I made it to Lookout Tavern twice for brunch. One Saturday around 10 am and another Saturday at 12. By noon it was packed! They had games on all the big screens and it was very lively. Service was good both visits, even when they were very busy. Both visits I got chicken and waffles, the Nashville Hot with Berries and the Spicy Buffalo Chicken. Both were really good, but my favorite was the Spicy Buffalo. My sister got the Breakfast Burrito one visit and enjoyed her meal. They have a wide variety of breakfast and lunch options and all sound great. They also have an extensive drink list. I got the Irish Cold Brew and loved it! It was the perfect brunch drink. A great spot for weekend brunch. Parking is very limited so plan accordingly if coming with a group. I would love to come back and try more and try lunch and dinner too. read more

5 stars specifically for the Monday Night Kids/Family Trivia: our friends invited us to join them for this new event and it was a blast! I'd been to the restaurant once in the past and it was fine! Standard bar food, lots of tvs for the husband, lots of space for big groups...no complaints, but no real push to come back unless invited...so when we were invited for something different and fun, I was excited! It's been a long time since I've been to a trivia night. I knew I wouldn't contribute much but the people I was with are all pretty smart and the game was challenging enough! Definitely not any questions our 6 & 7 year olds could answer but they were fine eating and coloring. We got an appetizer and dessert for the table and I got a margarita and their buffalo chicken wrap...which was delicious! I want to come back for another trivia night with friends! I'm real conflicted. The bartenders are very polite but they are sloooow. I Asked for a drink menu and it took a long while before someone came and took my drink order despite the bar not being crowed. Okay now I know why this elderly man was screaming for service. At first I thought he was drunk when he probably just wanted service. I ordered a burger and fries. Nothing too spectacular to write home about. I ordered my burger medium but when it arrived, it's like the edges were burnt. I'm hungry so I eat it anyway. The Sonoran sour- all I remember is tasting tequila so basically the bartenders pour heavy. One drink was all I needed. I wanted Mayo and when I asked for it.....it took forever and a day to get it. I have been here a few times, only for lunch, mostly outdoors. The outdoor seating area is small but comfortable. I usually do not like to seet outdoors near a parking lot, but there has not been much traffic for lunch, and it has been nice. Their menu has good variety, and the fries have been on the above average side :) Service has been prompt and friendly. I recently placed a big order (pick up), which includd the bacon wrapped jalapeños (great!) which come with a sweet red sauce (chipotle strawberry). I am glad I ordered the (I think it is called Flat Bread) Pepperoni pizza, which had a 2 for 1 special. This pizza was great, the bread was not flat at all the it was in fact very appetizing. I also ordered a ribeye with cold macaroni salad and a loaded potato. That one was very good, particularly for the price. And, to my surprise, the steak was cooked to my satisfaction (rare). From all the things in that order, only one I considered to be just so-so, and it was the Hatch Green Chili Flautas (5). The flavor was good, they were crispy (I think flour tortilla), but the stuffing was barely there... and I did not see any sign of avocado (to be fair, I think it says avocad cream, but oh well)... plus... they are lots of carbs and fat, and barely any protein. I think they would be an awesome appetizer or meal if they had chicken or shredded beef/pork. Overall, I do like the food from here a lot, and the service is quite friendly. Today was my first visit to Lookout Tavern. I pass it all the time and I recently had an occasion to take a friend out for her birthday, so I suggested this spot. First a huge shout out to our server Kelsey. She was patient as we chatted a bit before we ordered. I asked her for her favorites and we chose one of them. Top notch! My friend got the Nacho Average dip (recommended) which was the opposite of typical nachos. Instead of the cheese or in this case queso poured on top a basket of chips, it was a bowl of cheese with a bunch of toppings. And then a separate bowl of chips. No sogginess! Boo ya! Needless to say the rest went home. I got the chicken tenders which came with fries. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy well done hollow tubes and she made sure they were. The tenders were huge. I ate 1 plus some fries and a few nachos and I was done. Rest went home. At the end I asked for two meals to go, cause in this heat I'm not cooking! I haven't tried mine yet but I got the Crispy Cobb salad. And my husband wanted the Bacon cheddar burger with the same well done fries. The food tasted and looked delicious. I have to point out a few little touches which impressed me. My to go salad had crispy chicken and they put it in a separate container with paper underneath. It was the first thing I was going to do when I got home because I don't like hot/cold mixed together and when I saw that I was happy. Another little touch. Their tables in the booth are not bolted to the floor. Its so convenient to be able to have a little more room to slide in. I usually choose a table and chairs because most restaurants bolt those puppies down. The manager (I think) stopped by as well. Another nice touch. If I had to point out anything sub par it would be the difficulty getting in and mostly out of the parking lot to try to go east. Came back because the first visit was great--this time felt like we unlocked a secret level... and not in a good way. The bartenders were dressed like they were headed to a completely different kind of establishment, and let's just say dinner came with more "cheek" than expected. Not really what you want while eating. Then the music suddenly cranked up and the whole place morphed into a nightclub before we even finished our meal. I just wish we had a heads up (and maybe earplugs). Hard to hear conversation. Not what we came for when we arrived. Service was a bit slow and came with a side of attitude, like we were the inconvenience.
