I could not stand the long lines at the registers, so I quit going. Yesterday, curiosity got the better of me. I noticed they spruced things up a bit and I wanted to see for myself. I asked a staff member if I needed a membership because it had been so long since my last visit, I wasn't sure if things had changed in that area. Happily, I didn't need one and I just picked up a couple of things. Produce mostly. I was pretty happy with what I saw, but they still try to hock their near-expired meats and veg on certain racks. It looks disgusting. Overall, it sure is a lot cleaner and brighter inside. At 3:30 pm, I did not have to wait long to pay. I think I'll be back in the very near future.

The store has a variety of cooking / baking and kitchen needs. From home cooking to restaurant / buffet equipment ( I even noticed they sell hot dog machines !! ) . The meat / deli bulk fridge is well stocked as well. I usually buy the bigger cuts of beef and pork because during the time I spent at home I learned how to cut them into meal portions ( thanks YouTube ). I actually save quite a bit of money when I buy in bulk. The freezer section has a lot of different products - not just your normal frozen chicken / beef. The seafood area is also well stocked with a lot of choices. Sadly Edmonton does not really have a fresh fish market. Lots of frozen pies and cakes as well. One thing I also like here is the wide selection of spices and dried goods . I use a lot of spices when I am cooking . Spice is the variety of life isnt it? There is also a wide variety of drink crystals, syrups and other choices. Once i have loaded up, off to the tills. Due to covid, you have to stand at a spot on the floor and wait your turn but the wait is never too long. While you wait they tease you with racks of candy and snacks.. tempting though. The one thing I like is bagging my own groceries. It always amazes me how much I can actually put into one plastic bag vs staff who pretty much insist on using far too many bags. I dont really care the loaf of bread is sitting on top of a carton of eggs. A few bags later, I am stocked up for awhile and dont have to go back to get more every second week or so. I love how the staff there wear t-shirts that say " be kind ". How sad we have to tell people to behave themselves.. but then again there are some that just feel better yelling at staff . Good store if you want to stock up for a long time.. worth going just before winter so you dont have to go out in minus 40. Yea there are things that are slightly more expensive than other stores but the idea is to buy in bulk and stock up. Definitely worth going for your bulk needs without having to buy a membership.

Clothes, furniture, cameras and electronics are also sold. When you are done shopping, many can be hungry, but thankfully there is a restaurant on location. And if you are in need of fuel for your vehicle, or need a tire change, Costco offers these services. Shopping at Costco does require a membership to shop there. There is personal membership (Gold Star and Executive Member), and business membership. All have different membership fees and do offer different benefits for each. They dropped theirs of at 10 am and were still having problems, waited and waited for patient counseling, i wasted gas, time and patience and almost missed my fucking appointment because they don't have a clue how to manage shit. Get a manager or get employees with much more than half a brain. Absolute dog shit.

At first I was worried that I would have to grip the bar tightly to drive (like a quad) but this mobility cart is created for those with stiff to similar to arthritic hands or in general low hand mobility/dexterity. I really appreciate the guy taking time to ask me & then to give a quick tutorial. Great for left & right hand users too. Wasn't sure if the cart would hold the charge as it was questionable on the display (and they were all hushed together plugged in) but I made it to all my necessary items plus grabbed a few more as the charge seemed to be holding strong (I never did the crazy covid TP stock up, but for small wins of the day, it was kind of exciting to be able to reach that far back into the store & by myself vs asking friends to walk the distance on behalf of me). The mobility cart is a bit touchy & definitely don't want to take it down the shorter cut through aisles (as the turning radius isn't there with such a big basket). For the most part it gave me the freedom to do more of my own personal shopping (granted the getting up & down was quickly maxing out my knees) as I wasn't allocating shopping time & walking distance to what pain I'm in & what pain I will be in if I go any further on the hard cement floor. That's a huge deal in my mind to leave Costco only slightly worse than I entered. As I was shopping with my other 2 friends (as I usually go with at least one person to be my legs for the further distances &/or arms to help carry or push a cart), this was the first time in ages I could offer to be the one "driving the cart". We all got what we needed & were happily surprised to see self-checkouts installed at this location. Made it much faster than the traditional stand in line for 20 min. Not only are the self checkouts well spaced for those really big Costco carts & have a side area large enough for all the items you might buy but they had 3 staff on hand to help with self-checkout. One in particular that was very good at approaching someone disabled & very kind & observant with what would be harder to scan myself (basically everything larger in my cart). I think besides the fruit, I had 2 small boxes I scanned myself. Super fast. I don't know if all those tills are marked for disabled users or if I got lucky to find the right self-checkout till (it has the blue icon on the screen) but this staff member was really good at letting me know they could get someone else to assist me with loading in my vehicle (a first ever offered to me by Costco) & where to return the mobility cart. As I had my friends going with me into the parking lot, I wasn't too worried about loading. I could always call them over to help if needed. I sat back down to back the cart up & I had another Costco attendant almost behind me already offering to drive it back into the store for me. That way I didn't have to walk all the way back out. I don't know what kind of new hiring method Costco is doing but keep it up. Seriously. Those 3 employees deserve some gold stars! On a side note, I've shopped at this Costco for more years. There's still some work with other staff, aisle spacing & general customer awareness that would assist with the success of mobility carts being used regularly but this is definitely the right step towards becoming better for those that need more accessible options. Again, this is the first time I've ever noticed more than one mobility cart & long overdue to have staff that can recognize those that need assistance. Heck even give recognition that a box won't work for someone with a cane... I really hope this isn't a one off experience as honestly this could change how often I shop. Way to step it up Costco.

PRO's Was looking for winter tires and they are much cheaper here than at the other tire stores. Bonus was they were even on sale from the regular price when I was looking. They carry both the 2 best winter tires, Bridgestone WS90 and Michelin Ice. If there are things that you go through lots of fast, you will find it cheaper to buy in bulk here. For myself that would be razors, spinach, and some of the meats and poultry. If you have a freezer even better. They gave some great ready to go food as well. And yes, the rotisserie chicken is a great deal and great for an easy and tasty dinner! Lastly, the best deal I love here and worth the membership alone is the gas or propane fill up. I have a fire table and a BBQ and have 3 propane tanks that need to be filled every summer. The cost to fill all 3 is about how much it would cost to fill 1 at most places! CON's Everything is mostly bulk so for a single person like myself I don't buy any fruits or things that could go bad fast. There never seems to be a down time, so always prepare for lineups. If you don't have much to buy, going thru the self checkout is faster. There is an annual membership cost either $60 or $120. But if you're like me and even just go for propane, you will find that you make back the cost from that savings alone. For a single person like me I still go buy some things at other grocery stores that I don't need in bulk, such as vegetables, fruits and naked goods. But I love going here to pick up bulk things that work out so much cheaper and will lasts me weeks or months.
