I hate that the cakes are so darn expensive but they're so darn good! The more things or more complicating the design is the more expensive of course. I believe you can get a same day cake for way cheaper but custom I think the cheapest is $120. And it's just a plain ol' design. But the cake taste oh so yummy. It's worth it to me. read more

Moist and even the icing tasted great! My cake was probably $450.00 (I couldn't tell you exact, because it was part of the package), and it was well worth it. Just had a bad experience with Edda's cakes. So disappointed. Ordered a cake for a christening and it had multiple issues. Fondant cake with wrong decorations and several dents in the layers. Was told that this is normal. I have ordered these types of cakes before and they have been masterpieces. Looks like the person was not detailed. Forget cross and they gave me one with the stick glued to it to stick into the cake once dry. The base of the cake had imperfections also. See for yourself I took pictures. You can eat CAKE!!! Edda is an artist. Her cakes are beautifully prepared and very tasty.The most famous flavor of all is the Rum Cake. The best thing about Edda's rum cake is that you should always order it the day before you are gonna eat it. Let it sit that day and then when you cut it, it will be more juicier. We have had the cake out for an entire 4 day and the freshness is still their. I personally also love the guava cake! A small piece of this and your good. My family and I are a huge fan and whenever we are in the mood for something sweet we go by and order a small cake. No special event needed to eat it. They usually ask you to pick a design from their book so I feel I need to pick something regardless. So I make them write Thank you, Your the Best, or anything that come to mind on the top! LOL! For my quinces I went to their Hialeah location and they did a beautiful cake for me and I will never forget it. If you visit the store you will see the amazing sculptures and wedding cakes they have on display and in their books. Dont forget to get the complimentary piece they give all their guest. We knew absolutely nothing about this bakery and put full faith into our wedding coordinator when they raved about how delicious Edda's cakes were. Well we can now say that we were honored to have our wedding cake from Edda's! Edda's completely messed up on our wedding cake flavors...the best part of the cake, the part you actually eat. It took me four days and hours of waiting (on our honeymoon, no less) to get a hold of a manager (and don't bother leaving your name/number, they don't relay messages). After finally speaking with the manager to request a 50% refund on a $400 order (that only served 40 people) because they got the cake half wrong, they were only willing to give us $0.50 per person--yes 50 cents. What's more, the cake didn't even look that great. If you're choosing Edda's, you're basically paying designer prices on supermarket cakes and poor customer service. On my most recent purchase, I met with Yami at the SoMi location, to have them design a birthday cake for my daughter's party. I brought her a digital picture of what we were looking to do, and I must say their version was even better. Not to mention the taste and quality of the cake was amazing. Not only did they forget to make my cake (which I reserved a month in advance) they told me not to worry that they will whip one up just in time. . . They must of used an old cake which they decorated sorta like what I wanted because it wasn't.. Charged us $500 for a TERRIBLE cake, the cake was so dry and crumbly. We've been clients of Edda's for more than 26 years, because we ordered our wedding cake from here and this past Friday was our 26th wedding anniversary. The quality of Edda's cakes has always been good, but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I ordered a 15-person deluxe horizontal grooves cake which cost me $60 (which seems overpriced, but anyways). I was set to pick it up at 12PM, and when I arrived around 12:25PM P, it still wasn't ready. I waited for about 20 minutes and when the cake was finally brought out, it was totally plain and bare. While I was ordering, I had asked for no topper and for the flower decoration it comes with to be replaced with "Happy Anniversary" written on the cake. Yet, "Happy Anniversary" was instead written on a tiny sugar card leaning on the cake, while the entire top of the cake was completely empty. When I asked if they could add "26" to just fill up all that empty space, it took them over 20 minutes to add two measly sugar letters to the top of the cake. It's a shame that employees lacking communication skills to ensure the client gets what they want, and then poorly treating customers, having no regards for time, ruins a business that locals have been frequenting for many years. read more

We waited around 10 minutes while the chismosas were chismiando in the back before we even got attended to. The two tables they had were dirty and the actual cake kinda sucked too. No design had been previously created, so I was in a bit of a bind and didn't want to mess it up. Edda's is my go-to for birthdays, graduations, and any other event, so I figured I'd give it a go. They helped me and made suggestions when I was unsure of what to do. After only one meeting at their store, I walked out of there confident that they had perfectly nailed what I was looking for but couldn't quite put into words. Disapointed, searching for the best place for a small weding cake, I met owners sister, and placed the order. Cake was flavorless, Dry and sugar coat was too tick. I over paid separate for two flowers to decorate wedding cake, perhaps they were made by a 2 years old apprentice. I asked the lady at the front to replace flowers, it was usesless, she just looked at me, I went to a flower shop and bought two real flowers for a fraction of this mess. You have to carry yet out without a Box and exposed to bugs and everything else it's horrible you pay so much for a beautiful birthday cake in they can't even Box it. If I could give this a lower rating I would. I ordered a cake for my fathers 70th birthday because so many friends recommended it and I was extremely disappointed. The presentation was sloppy and the cake was dry and not moist on the inside. The cake didn't even say happy birthday the way we requested and when we picked up the cake they didn't even offer a lid to go along with it. The ornaments on top of the cake were glued very sloppy And I was forced to place the cake against a wall so none of our guests would see the back. When I called to complain I was bounced around from employee to employee for several days and when I finally spoke to the manager she said she would call me back.. Still waiting for her to call me back. Do yourself a favor and find another bakery.. Just because this is a well known bakery in south Florida DOES NOT make it the best. A little late but got married last year at a hotel where Edda's was one of the preferred vendors. Cake tasting was fun and all the samples were delicious. Even after being frozen for 1 year it tasted amazing!!!! (Leave it in the fridge first for a while lol) We made ours 4 tiers and each one a different flavor, but our favorite were amaretto and vanilla rum. The cake was absolutely gorgeous, classic and turned out even better than the picture I showed them as inspiration. It was moist and super yummy!!! A lot of people had spoken great things to me about Edda's cakes but my experience was far from good. I had my wedding cake done here. I took a picture of the exact design I wanted, which was veryyy simple and modern. They showed me a picture of a very similar cake they had done so I figured they would have no trouble recreating it. A couple of days before the wedding they called me because they were having issues with one of the tiers that was made out of chocolate and asked if it could be changed to vanilla, which was fine. Then they called me that they could not recreate the flower I had given them, so last minute I had to come up with an alternative with my florist. The day of the wedding, THANK GOD I was getting ready at the same hotel where the reception was going to take place because the cake had a big defect on the top!!! A very visible piece of fondant missing on the center on the top tier!!! We called them and someone came and put a plaster of fondant on top that looked horrible. The florist was there (Thank God again) and had to put some flowers on the top tier which completely ruined the look I was going for. Not only that but the tiers were all different heights which is not what I had requested for. The ribbons around the base of each tier wayyy too thick (especially when compared to the picture I supplied) and the unions were visible. We paid extra for dulce de leche filling and it was nowhere to be seen... I think they missed some layers. I left countless messages for them to reach me after the wedding and never heard back. BUYER BEWARE...I would give this establishment Zero stars if I could. I went earlier this afternoon with my friend to order a cake for my upcoming baby shower. My friend was going to pay for the cake as a gift to me but wanted me to pick out the design. When we got there we were given a book of options. The woman behind the counter spent no more than 15 minutes with us and did not explain much to us. After deciding on the cake she gave us the total - $165 for a 30 person cake! I make a decent living and I usually do not look at price tags much but $165 for a 30 person cake seemed exorbitant, so much so that after we paid and left the store I could not stop thinking about the price. I called me friend exactly 4 hours later and we decided to cancel the order. When she called the store to cancel she was told that there was a 30% nonrefundable fee. The fee was for the time that the salesperson spent with us. WHAT?!?! You mean the lady that spent 15 minutes with us gets paid $50 for those 15 minutes? How is that justified? Nowhere in the store is there a sign stating that policy and we were not verbally told of this policy. The only place this policy is written is on the actual receipt which you only see AFTER you have paid. That simply is fraud! I will do my best to tell everyone and anyone I know about this incident.
