Was walking to pick up my lunch at Chèvre and, rather than spend $25 on a mini (albeit delicious!) Basque burnt cheesecake, i decided to pop in and try a cupcake. Both ladies who helped me were lovely & very sweet and welcoming. I chose a Red Velvet (they have a Coffee & Cupcake deal for $7!) and headed back to my office. Coffee was great, but cupcake? Not so much. It did not seem fresh, was cold & hard and tasted like it had been in a refrigerator for days. To top it off (literally), instead of my preferred buttercream frosting, this was loaded with thick, sticky, too-sweet Cuban-style, glossy merengue frosting. NOT a fan. Maybe I caught them on a bad day... who knows. I may go back for coffee & be tempted to trying another treat but honestly, with Basque Cheesecakes to my right, and La Boulangerie Boul'Mich (which has amazing pastries & cookies) across the street, not sure if I can be convinced. Stars are strictly for the coffee & nice ladies on service. read more

Alejandra from the cake lounge is a true artist. She just made a milestone birthday cake for me that was beyond exquisite. It was presented to me at MAMO Miami. The entire restaurant watched in awe as it was brought to me. The detail beyond definition. Before ordering my cake I met with her. I scrupulous when it comes to dessert as I have a favorite bakery in NYC. Well she sat with me and provided me with samples of my top 3 choices and their respective fillings of choice. Rating mini cupcakes only. It appears that people really like the cakes but I only had the mini cupcakes which were small (as you would expect minis to be), not very moist and with frosting that was sticky chewy and could be pulled off like a top hat. We tried 6 flavors. Flavor profile was good but lost in combination with the odd frosting consistency. read more

When you enter this quaint bakery you can't help but smile. They specialize in custom cakes and have the most unique display of cakes from small to large. Daughter in Law ordered wedding cake from out of town, she gave a description and met all of her expectations. It was a beach theme, the seashells were made out of sugar but looked so real. Cake was on graham crackers for the sand. I have posted a picture. Cake was delicious and very moist. There's also cakes, cupcakes, fancy cookies you can walk in and purchase. I had a wonderful experience ordering a cake from Cake Lounge Miami! Trust the cake experts here everyone. I called on a very short notice and wanted to order a birthday cake and they sure delivered. They exceeded my expectations! The cake they made turned out even more fabulous than the sample photo I provided them with. In many cases, you order an amazing looking cake and end up with a beautiful looking cake that is flavorless. Not in Cake Lounge Miami's case. It is one of the most delicious cakes I have ever had. This is not exaggerated. With all that said, like everything in life, great things come with a price tag. Pricey but worth every penny. I knew I ran into a great bakery the moment I walked in and the owner (Alejandra) greeted us with a smile. :) The first time I went I was killing time (doing laundry) and was walking around the block. We saw Cake Lounge which was beautifully decorated inside. Any girly girl would be a sucker for that type of decoration so we got reeled in. The bakery has a display of cupcakes, cake pops, merengues and cake designs that literally make your jaw drop. During that time it was Valentine's Day so everything was pink and red decorated. My daughter and I ordered two cream filled pastries topped with fruit that were delicious and also two cupcakes (chocolate and key lime flavor). Both were moist and delicious. I knew then that I had to order a cake from Alejandra for my daughters 18th Birthday. I came back the second time with a master plan to order a cake for an 18 year old. Alejandra brain stormed with me and we came up with a creation that showcased what my daughter loves which is theatre, mermaids (beach), she got accepted into the University of Miami and she was turning 18. I loved how she listened to my needs and didn't try to over power my ideas like some previous cake bakers have in the past. It ended up being a 2 tier cake for 30 people. A little bit over $200 was well worth it. The cake came out beautiful and everyone at the party loved the cake and was surprised how moist it was inside. BTW I got Marble flavor as suggested by Alejandra. I picked up the cake the day before the party and she was ready and on time. I could've opted for delivery which was $50 from the location to South Beach but I decided to save on that and pick it up myself. Cake Lounge is well recommended whether it be for a cake, cupcakes or just a sweet tooth craving...a must try Miami! read more

From the beginning, the owner was very helpful and walked me through different options of flavors. I ultimate went with the marble cake with vanilla rum and provided the design I had seen online. I ordered a cake for 40 people for a baby shower. The cake was delicious; but next time I would ask for a little bit more rum. I would still use their services in the future! read more

The cakes are beautiful and the vanilla cake is delicious *but* there's is a huge frosting-to-cake ratio. I prefer less frosting. Had I known that there was going to be an inch to in some places two inches of frosting I would have requested less. I like the new style of cake where you can see some cake through a very thin layer of frosting. That said, it was delicious, fresh and beautiful but for the price, which was on the expensive side I would have expected that. Their selection is a bit limited too but that's ok. UPDATE Alejandra C: You didn't send me a message so I can't reply. Limited selection: I **SPECIFICALLY** asked the lady that took our order what the options were and she said that for kids they had vanilla, chocolate and marble. (I didn't even know what marble was.) I remember specifically asking her because it was like PULLING TEETH. When pressed she did say you had flavors like pistachio and lemon but she reccomended vanilla for kids (like I never buy cake for adults?). The lady that attended us seemed like she wasn't very interested in giving information. I would reccomend writing out the flavors and frostings and fillings on paper like a menu so people can read it and are not dependent on if the cake decorator is tired and wants to go home. She did not GIVE US the option of naked cake or any other option other than meringue or buttercream frosting. I will say she did say that you make sugar free cake which I think you should emphasize and advertise. There are a lot of people restricting sugar or diabetic kids that would like a sugar free cake. When you don't write anything down the selection your customers get I dependent on the mood and energy of the sales person. You may want someone more energetic or to write a menu so people can see your wide array of options. As is you can only see what's in the case (lovely) and what the sales person tells you. However I would use you bakery again for a special occasion cake. Especially a sugar free cake. read more

Great bakery owned by talented specialists! They made an awesome dinosaur birthday vale for my two year old girl and it was complete with bones,rocks,dinosaur eggs,sand, and even plastic dinosaurs on top that my daughter is still playing with. Lovely place and for sure I'll go back with them when I have another birthday. The cake itself was delicious and it dissapeared from the table very quickly!! I have been meaning to write this review for several weeks now. I went into Cake Lounge in late May to inquire about a Black Forest Cake. My business partners birthday was coming up and his favorite cake is Black Forest which seems to be hard to find in Miami. I had called a number of places who told me they didn't make it and many had no idea what it even was. I met Alejandra who knew exactly what a Black Forest cake was. Since my business partner is picky, I bought two small cupcakes to sample the quality. They were both very good so I ordered the smallest Black Forest cake Alejandra could make. When she told me the price, I initially thought it was quite pricey, but the store was beautiful and she seemed very confident that she could make exactly what I wanted. I picked up the cake and was very impressed with how beautiful it was. Alejandra recommended taking it out about 30 minutes before we ate it. It was DELICIOUS both at room temperature and straight out of the fridge. She used a butter cream frosting that was out of this world! The cake was worth every penny!! I cannot thank Alejandra enough as I didn't give her very much notice, especially for a specialty cake, but she not only delivered, but exceeded my very high expectatations. If you are looking for a cake that is not only delicious, but beautiful and elegant, Cake Lounge is the place for you. You will not be disappointed. Not only is Alejandra great at making cakes, her people skills and customer service are excellent. Yelp only allows me to give Cake Lounge 5 stars, but they deserve 10!! read more

I was fortunate enough to get to have one of these amazing cakes for my husbands birthday. It was a total surprise gift from our friends, and the cake was so beautiful and it tasted out of this world amazing. The cake was so good that the staff at the restaurant we took it to decided to eat the cake without telling us and when we asked for the leftover cake they made up a story that someone fell on the cake. We never saw the "smashed cake" so if you take this cake to a restaurant make sure you let the staff know your taking the leftovers. I would recommend this business 100% read more

Clearly all the ingredients were high quality. Everything looked beautiful in the display window. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. Light, fluffy, moist, and held together with just the right amount of rich cheddar cheese. And, the Bacon was great ... thick, just the right amount of crispy and chewy. The English muffin was disappointing; dry, dense, heavy and overly chewy. It's almost as if the dough didn't have a chance to rise fully, it was made with too little water, and it was undercooked. It was so dense that the smooth interior faces of the muffin didn't even do a good job of holding the sandwich together. Sauce dripped, eggs fell out. Even the thick bacon slid around, almost escaping being bitten into. This wasn't the only baking concern we had with Ophelia. We also picked up a mango filled "summer special" (doughnut) and a piece of "Pistachio Berry Toast". The doughnut filling was wonderful.. rich, sweet mango. The doughnut itself was surprisingly dry and dense. Then there's the reason we just don't care to return to Ophelia... the pistachio berry "toast". First, there was nothing toasted about this dense slab that most resembled pound cake... yes, pound cake. Dry, tasteless, and completely underwhelming. It's difficult to identify the makeup of the "pistachio" topping... and it certainly lacked flavor. The berries were flat, desiccated berries on top. All was covered with a thin dusting of confectioners sugar. Definitely nothing to have again. We also had a cortado and a matcha latte. All told, the cost of this trailer-in-a-parking-lot quick breakfast was $57 including a 20% tip that we added. There are no picnic tables or benches around, so we ate in the car. By the time we left there was a line of over 25 people, and more streaming in. When we arrived at 7:45 AM Saturday there were only three people ahead of us. So, either the hype is still pulling in new unsuspecting customers, or this was a really "off" day for the quality of the baked goods.

It took us about 3 minutes to eat and it was tasty- a hard shell, mango inside and maybe some custard. We both decided it was very good, but not $18 good. I"m glad we tried it, but I probably wouldn't get the viral fruit again for the price alone. However, I did find this cafe to be adorable and would stop back in here the next time I'm in Atlantic Avenue for other treats. Hopefully the non viral pastries aren't priced quite as high.

I placed my order and two employees worked to grab all the items I asked for and put them in boxes. The sandwiches were being prepared in the back and within a few minutes I was handed the 3 large brown paper bags with all my items. Overall a great option because they have a great selection of items, and the staff is very kind.

Since I never ordered a cake before I asked Alejandra to help me decide what kind of cake I should go with after going through all the different choices I kinda went with what she suggested and it was perfect. I was planning an 80th birthday party for my mother in Miami, but I live in Tampa which meant all communication was via phone and e-mail. First, Alejandra was so patient and kind because I had many ideas and could not figure out what I wanted for my design. Alejandra went above and beyond by adding a fake base to each tier since I was only feeding 20-30 people. She added flowers on the side and the top that were gorgeous and looked so real. One of the things I liked the most about working with them is that they were able to adapt my idea perfectly. The owner was very nice and accommodating. I needed a custom cake and she was the only one that told me she will work something out for me. Everyone else I called was like no! She said if the design isn't crazy she can do it or print it on an edible paper and that's what I ended up doing. She was helpful with sizes and prices too. Definitely going back! When I asked if it could be fixed, the employee said she would call the manager and get back to me. About an hour later, I received a call saying the manager had decided they could not fix the cake. I was told I could either take it as is or leave it and receive only a 50% refund. There was no apology--just a very matter-of-fact "take it or leave it" response. I asked to speak to the manager and was told she was not available. I then called the Wynwood location multiple times before someone finally answered. I asked to speak to a manager and was told she was busy but would call me back. She never did. When I called again, I was told the Wynwood and Sunset locations were separate, but that the manager would reach out to the Sunset manager and have her call me. Again, no one followed up. On Sunday, I called again and was told the kitchen was closed and that my only options were still to pick up the cake or leave it and receive 50% back--even though the cake was never corrected. The manager refused to speak with me directly. I ultimately picked up the cake, and not only was the color still wrong, but the cake itself was terrible in flavor. It was honestly one of the worst cakes I've ever had. The biggest disappointment, however, was the consistently poor customer service--from both the managers and the staff. As a small business, they need to do better. All that was needed was a sincere apology and a reasonable solution, such as a small discount for the inconvenience since their kitchen was closed. Instead, the entire experience was mishandled from start to finish. I don't mind paying premium prices when the product and service are worth it, but this experience failed on every level. I will not be ordering from them again or recommending them to anyone

The standard of customer care shouldn't always be that the "customer is always right", UNLESS the customer is right... I was greeted quickly and offered free samples which were delicious. I came to pick up a Strawberry Pavlova cake for a birthday but I couldn't wait so I ordered a small personal one for me. They also threw in a complimentary cuarto leche sample which was unexpected. Such a nice touch. The Pavlova was delicious. The perfect balance of sweet of the dulce de leche and the freshness of the Strawberries. The shop itself was extremely clean and minimalistic which I enjoyed. This was not mentioned when I ordered the cake and when they were taking my money. I feel like they need to be transparent with things that they suggest when they suggest them. If you knew that I had to send an Uber driver in to make the pickup then that should've been communicated to me when I ordered the cake. I ended up just leaving from work early to pick up the cake. I also grabbed some cupcakes and two individual slices of cake cakes as well. The experience today just left a bad taste in my mouth and I don't think I'll be ordering from them anymore.
