Terrible Service!!! I just called today to place a cake order and the person on the phone was very rude and uninterested. When I mentioned the date of the event she rudely replied with "I don't work Sundays!" So I settles to pick up the cake the day before. Typically when you go to a shop to order a cake you present your concept to the baker and then together you engage in a brainstorming conversation on how to make your concept come alive. She totally did not have interest in doing this and it sounded like she just wanted the phone call to be over. When I mentioned to her that the service I was receiving made me feel uncomfortable she stated "sorry, I'm doing something else." I then told her that I no longer wanted to continue placing my order because I no longer felt comfortable trusting her doing a cake for my event. I would not recommend this place to anyone. When I arrive to pick up the order, I realize the cupcakes were mini instead of regular sized cupcakes. She never mentioned that by me choosing the living social coupon, I would be downsizing from regular cupcakes to mini cupcakes. So, sure, I saved $5 but I got mini cupcakes instead of regular sized. I was better off paying the $60 for regular sized cupcakes instead of $55 for mini cupcakes. Where's the savings? I ended up with less of a cupcake at practically the same price. Sorry, Mmmm cupcakes. I appreciate what you're trying to do, using low sugar recipes as well as offering gluten-free and vegan versions, but the flavors just didn't blow me away. I ordered a dozen cupcakes for a birthday party and was allowed to chose four flavors. I opted for the guava, pina colada, mocha and reeses cupcakes. I also picked up mini versions of the red velvet and almond cupcakes to have my very own non-birthday party. I found that the cupcakes while moist and fluffy pretty much all tasted the same, they just had different colors. Even the icing tasted the same on all versions. I tasted no peanut butter or coconut in the Reese's and pina colada versions. They might as well have been plain chocolate and vanilla. The guava cupcake had a nice guava filling and was my favorite of all. I do appreciate the attempt of making a healthier cupcake and the freshness of Mmmm's products, and I may be back to try some of the vegan flavors. The question becomes, do I want to eat a somewhat bland cupcake for 50-100 calories less or do I want the sugary, buttery goodness of Misha's? Mmmm Cupcakes brought our wedding cake 5 hours late this past Saturday and it wasn't what we ordered or cooked through. The one star is because Marilyn communicated well at the outset of planning. I loved Marilyn's enthusiasm. Here's what happened: There was no cake as of our cocktail reception at 5:30pm. The wedding planner called Marilyn, who I think is the owner, at 5:40pm to ask if she was going to bring it. Marilyn did bring a cake, that looked like the one that we had ordered. We cut it quietly around 9pm, fed each other a small piece. Later, that night when we got back to our rooms we were hungry and excited for our cake. We had a piece and it wasn't the chocolate or carrot cake. It tasted like apple. And the bottom layer wasn't totally cooked through. Both of our stomachs hurt afterwards. Went here for a cupcake decorating class and had lots of fun. The owner seems to be passionate about cake decorating. I feel that I learned some tricks in how to use the piping etc., but I think practice will make a master. We were charged a small fee despite the fact that we had a prepaid groupon and I still do not know for what. Mmmm cupcakes guava cupcake is the best In my opinion. I decided to order a few sweet treats from this location because Bite Squad provided delivery. When the order was received, the box had oil prints around it which turned me off from the get go. But indeed, I was still ready to indulge. The first thing that caught my eye was how STALE my vanilla cupcake was. You could physically see how dry it was because the cupcake was cracked under the frosting. I honestly didn't even try it. But I did want my cake pop that looked great. When I took a bite, it wasn't a cake pop. Yes, it was on a stick but nope, it was my choc covered Oreos. Those were very good! Now when two of the three items are bad, it's safe to say that I wouldn't recommend this place. The last treat was the actual cake pop that came in a rare shape, and wasn't on a stick. I had the pleasure of sampling some of the offerings at a Dwntwn "Meet your neighbors" event. After viewing the many different varieties of cupcakes I chose the biscotti. Pronounce it without an exclamation point and that will be your reaction when you bite into one. I got the groupon for these a while back because I like cupcakes. I bought gluten free red velvet and coconut. I found out the groupon was not that great of deal because they offer buy one get one free on a regular basis. I also tried a gluten free chocolate as well. The breakdown: Hours - downtown Miami so of course terrible. Closes at 5 pm! Red Velvet: the cream cheese frosting was good but it was typical cream cheese frosting. Nothing special. The cake was completely inedible. Dry and tasted strongly of baking powder. Coconut: Good frosting. I love coconut. The cake was also very dry and overly baking soday. I don't even know what flavor the cake was supposed to be....coconut, vanilla...impossible to tell over the flavor of baking soda.....so dry! Chocolate: suprisingly good frosting. It was coffee I believe. The cake was ok - nothing too special. Here is the worst part: I bought 14 cupcakes. I took them to a party and only half were "eaten" (bite into, licked off frosting....), not one person liked them. I took the other half to work where only a couple were eaten because word spread on how bad they were. Final count, 4 red velvet straight to the trash. This might just be an issue with gluten free cupcakes.... I did promise the person working there that I was going to tell everyone about the cupcakes.....sorry...... And no parking ANYWHERE! She suggested we call the company. She left a voice mail on my behalf, and when the lady called back- she called back with an attitude. As if it was OUR fault that the cupcakes tasted atrocious. She said it was impossible that the cupcakes could taste so bad because she delivered them herself... So? She did not seem as if she wanted to replace the cupcakes etc. We even suggested that she come back and try the cupcakes- well that suggestion seemed to click in her head. She said she would deliver a fresh batch the next day. Flash forward to today... The dude who delivered the cupcakes said "she" wanted to try them if we don't mind. After my experience with these people I didn't want them to give me the run around. I asked the guy if he would mind tasting the cupcakes in front of me. He took a huge bite and said they tasted fine to him, but that he aims to please and that I should take the fresh cupcakes. The "fresh" cupcakes were ooooookayyyy, but definitely nothing special. The frosting on one row of them kinda looked like kaka poopoo. You also know that the ingredients are of the highest quality. We normally pick up the our orders, except for our wedding cake in Dec. of 2013 -- which was gorgeous and arrived well in anticipation of the ceremony. I decided to get me and our secretary a cupcake. It was 2 for $5 and they were decent sized cupcakes. She had lots of different flavors available. Basically, a few different flavors for the actual cupcake, additional flavors for frosting and toppings to make a variety of combinations. I got a snickers and a reese's. The cupcakes were moist, but probably a little heavy on the frosting. I'm a fan of the cake part and usually take most of the frosting off my cupcakes. Overall, a yummy cupcake and I would come back for a sugar fix, especially since it's so close to my office. As for my experience in the store....it was a little stressful. Mostly because the woman working there was radiating stress. She had two small children playing on the floor and she was there by herself. The phone kept ringing and the place was kind of in shambles. The display case/counter was in a different place than what it shown in the photos and there were sheet pans everywhere. It was a total mess. I came toward the end of the day around 3 o'clock, so I figure that might be why she seemed stressed if it had been a long day at the shop; however, it immediately put me on edge as a customer. If she had not put the customer on the phone on hold, I probably would have just left. If someone is going to be there taking care of kids, cleaning up after a busy day, taking calls, and taking care of customers that come in, they should not be there alone to do it all because it impacted customer service (me AND the customer on the phone). I may return to Mmmm Cupcakes because the actual cupcake was pretty tasty, but I may consider doing an advance order so I can spend as little time in the shop as possible. read more
