"The cakes are really good, but the service could use improvement. The woman with the nose piercing has terrible customer service. When you walk in, she doesn't greet you, and she always looks like she's in a bad mood. Her attitude definitely needs to change in order to provide good customer service. read more

I haven't ordered from here in many many years. Decided to order a cake for a 60th birthday dinner. Ordered it online. When I went to pick it up, first thing I noticed when I opened their door was the dirty display case. Come on guys, a little housekeeping goes a long way. The cake I ordered looked really nice but when we tried it, it was dry. We also didn't taste their famous rum in the icing. Not sure if the rum is for vanilla icing only. Our cake was chocolate. Could have been an oversight on my part when placing the order but still, we were disappointed. I won't order from here again. Sorry. read more

I was looking for a birthday cake for my Mom's birthday. As always, I tend to leave for last minute and this place was so helpful and accommodating. I found them on social media and reached out to them. I advised them I needed the cake by Saturday and they were happy to help. The cake was beautiful and my mom loved it!! I was able to share the design I wanted with them and they made it happen. Thank you for such a lovely experience! My mom loved it and it tasted really good! They included the little sign piece on the bottom of the cake and I bought the happy birthday candles and signage on top. Overall really cute! read more

This is my go-to cake bakery! They have excellent service and delicious cakes! I've ordered from them before and had them deliver a rum cake to my home before with no issues. Last week, I ordered a cake for my boss' birthday, and they delivered the cake to my office. I ordered the cake over the phone, and they assisted me with care and excellent service, and even provided helpful suggestions as to the design of the cake. The Cake was a hit with my boss and everyone in the office! Several people asked where I got the cake from, and ofcoarse I told them Edda's! The rum cake was made perfectly, with excellent flavor and very moist. I will continue to order cakes from them when needed! read more

this place really used to be the best spot to get GREAT cakes that were 100% worth your money. I was so disappointed from the get, but i needed this cake and i thought i can trust the place. The person who assisted me over the phone as i was placing my order seemed to have little to no desire to assist me and answer my questions which was really upsetting given the fact that i'm not just paying for a $20 cake. i was very bothered by that but as mentioned before, i needed the cake and i trusted this place since I've used them in the past and they've been a hit. Come the day to pick up the cake and it was extremely sloppy, the letters were sloppily cut, the image on the top of the cake had the print lines on them, the top was coming out and the cake was extremely dry. First & last time I purchase anything here! Bought the cake pops and they were done & packed the worst way possible. They were all melted and stuck to the paper. Customer service is the worst. They do not care to lose customers and don't even try to make things right. Would've been off better making the cake pops myself. Such a waste of money and time. read more

We ordered a cake for family members 60th birthday. We went to the store and browsed through the photo books they have available. We needed a really cute design at a reasonable price for about 10 people. It's difficult when the cake needs to be small. The employee at the counter was very helpful and we selected a cake with a topper that fit our needs. The cake turned out beautiful and the design looked exactly like the photo. Stay away from this bakery. This bakery was top-of-the-line back in the early 90s but their day came and went. This is the second cake I've bought from this bakery in two years and they still can't seem to get it right. I spent almost $400 on a cake that Publix probably would have made it 100 times better for half the cost. The lack of attention to detail on this cake is mind blowing. For example, upon inspection I saw that my cake was spray painted instead of them actually coloring the buttercream frosting like they're supposed to. Aside from that, they didn't carry out the exact design they promised when I ordered it. The customer service is even worse than the cake. They don't care if you're not satisfied, they're not willing to correct any mistakes or try to come to some resolution both parties would be happy with. I have been ordering pecan pies that are sold only during Thanksgiving for years. My family looks forward to them every year. Absolutely amazing if you like pecan pies. I always order from the South Miami store but this year I ordered from the Doral location because it was closer to me. Mistake! I ordered several of them and picked them up today. We were all excited to try a piece. To our disappointment, they did not taste fresh. The taste was just not the same and tasted old. I really don't know if it's because they are now made differently at all stores or if it's because of this location. Based on some of the reviews I read, I tend to think it's only this location with the issue. Big disappointment! The store is also not comparable to the South Miami location. I suppose I should've done my research first. I will still order them next year but definitely at the South Miami location. Hopefully, they are not a disappointment like this year. If possible, drive a little farther and go to the Soutb Miami location instead of the Doral location. The service and ambiance is also much better there. Best wishes. read more

This is not earth shattering but disappointing that I paid $72 for 24 cake pops in University of Miami colors and got pale orange and pale green in return. I will not be back. I specified 3 times when ordering that the school color were important. There is no time to have not taken them and have remade. I sooooo recommend this place. Their cakes are absolutely delicious!!! I usually get their express cakes which are ready to go. You just walk in choose a design, write down the message you want written on it and in about 10 min you are out the door with your cake. In my experience and as recommended by the staff, it is best to purchase the day before your party and let the cake sit at room temperature until the next day. It makes it even more moist. But either way if you get it the day of you will not be disappointed. The icing is perfect because it is not too sweet. They have parking in front of the store read more

I agree with other reviews that Edda's staff is unwilling to admit when they totally messed the order and unwilling to make amends. I ordered straight from their catalog and spent an hour in the bakery finalizing the order. What I received was nothing like what I ordered. This was my son's wedding and it was a complete and total miss by Edda's. No apologies and no concessions. Just blank stares. Was told that the manager would contact me the next day. I had been hearing so many great things about their cakes! Especially about their signature vanilla rum (like ok I'll go get the damn cake already) and I did! Ha! My friends weren't wrong! This place has really yummy cakes and cake pops, which I tried while I was waiting for my came to be ready :p this cake was so moist and creamy.. honestly not a fan of vanilla at all but this was so good by itself! This place used to be my favorite place to order cakes but lately they haven't been meeting my expectations. Two months ago I order a vanilla rum cake for my cousin it came out beautiful but this time I order another vanilla rum cake for my brothers and the design was not what I expected. It was meant to be plain but the letters came out WAY too thin and it was pricey. The price came out so high because she said the letters and the print were extra. My coworkers and I had a mango mousse cake from Edda's bakery from Doral, Fl. We were horrified to discover when slicing the cake the next day to find mold. These people know cakes. Recently placed a Cake order to have ready the next day. They offered me different cake styles and flavors and designs. They were extremely friendly and very helpful. Great price for the quality of cakes they make here. I was unsure about what I wanted the cake to say and also about the design on it. They told me it would be no problem and that when I went to pick it up I could tell them there and it would only take them about 5 minutes to have it ready. I did just that and was in and out in no time. The cake was a rum cake with dulce de leche filling. It was delicious. Be warned the parking in the location can be a bit tight since there are many different businesses in the shopping center. All in all this placed is excellent. I will be making future cake orders from here. read more

After lunch at the Patacon down the street my husband asked me to pick him up something sweet, so I pulled in for a little treat. There was a tasting going on for a bride and the line was short (3 people Infront of me) but the wait was long! When you walk in you notice that the place is very dark, cold, and run down. I used to LOVE Edda's cakes back in the day.... I ordered a cookies and creme cupcake for my husband and cake toasts for my mother in law. It made me curious why the cake toasts are pre packaged, but in the display case with the 'fresh' cakes.... SO you know I had to ask. I asked the girl behind the counter if the cakes we see in the grocery store were baked in individual branches or if they had some manufacturing facility. I was saddened by the response... "Oh yes... We have a factory in Miami and all the cakes are shipped to the bakery. We just decorate them." So there you have it... If you ordered cakes from Edda's they are not fresh baked cakes. All I can say is wow! I am beyond happy with how my cake turned out. I wasn't worried about the taste of the cake because Edda's cake flavor is so unique and always delicious. What I was worried about was the cake not coming out how I envisioned because I wanted everything a specific certain way. But the staff at Edda's took their time to talk everything out with me to make sure they were going to make the cake how I pictured it! They were very patient, kind, and understanding. Cake Designs by Edda is a hit or miss. I had a red velvet cupcake from here and it was mediocre. Very dry and it tasted old. But by the same token, I;ve had cake balls from here that have been AMAZING. Probably the best cake balls i've ever had. very moist and so delicious. The service is also a Hit or Miss. The first time I went the young lady at the register was very patient and very helpful, the second time, there was another young lady at the register and she seemed to be in a hurry and did not want to answer questions about the cake balls. read more

I placed an order for my son's first birthday. a custom made cake. I asked for vanilla rum and I got a dry cake with frosting in the inside. The letters were all sideways. not happy at all. When I picked up the cake I didn't say anything because my son's bday was within an hour, but later on when the cake was cut, it was dry and nasty. I have just read some of the most recent reviews. I'm sorry for those customers who had bad experiences, but I've been to this location and their previous location in Coral Gables and I have always been satisfied by their quality and service. I highly recommend calling ahead to see when the cupcakes are rolled out as they do sell out quickly. Their cakes at the Publix grocery store are good too. I do hope they will expand to either Midtown or Brickell. read more
