My son is obsessed with dinosaurs, so as a reward for good behavior, I promised him whatever cake he choose for his birthday. Needless to say, don't ever underestimate a 4 year old that knows how to use an ipad. I spent most of my Saturday calling all custom cake vendors in the Doral area, and even called a few out of the area. ALL OF THEM quoted me a ridiculous price for the cake. Granted, the design I asked for was definitely art, but, the quote exceeded some wedding cake quotes. Then I called Edda in Doral. The response time was the fastest I've ever experienced with a Custom cake vendor. Shaianne gave me a reasonable quote for the cake far less than any other vendor (and there were some vendors in Doral that never even called me back, one actually responded a week ago for a birthday in January, yes really!) She gave me advice on what she thought would work best, was polite, professional and delivered! EVERYONE wanted to know where I got that delicious moist marble cake with buttercream filling. The service is horrible at this location!!!!!! The staff is rude and disrespectful to customers. I've had bad experiences here in the past but I thought they were just one off incidents. I keep returning because this location is close to my office. No more... I've finally learned my lesson today. I spent 45 minutes waiting yesterday to place a simple birthday cake order. Nothing fancy but I wanted them to add some decorations to the top and pay for it in advance so it would be ready for the time I requested it be ready. No big deal..I waited and placed my order as planned. So I arrive today to pick the cake and the girl behind the counter could find my order in her system but not my cake. Then I suddenly see her pull an undecorated cake from the display so I asked her "are you sure that's my order, I asked for additional decorations" and she said "yes I going to do it now". My response was "Amazing!!!" She goes off to decorate it and comes back 10 minutes later with something that looks like a 5 year old did it. Then proceeds to give me attitude as she hands me the cake. Call me crazy but why would the person who helped me yesterday assure me it would be ready on time? I hope the snot nosed girl at the counter gets what's coming to her for disrespecting customers. All I can say is she should be thankful my boss was in the car and I had to stay composed. I ordered a wedding cake from them. I thought it would be beautiful and I picked out an amazing design. When I saw my cake at the wedding I almost started crying. half of the layers never got decorated and where just plain white. Then, when I called to tell them about it and find out what happened the manager said well "sometimes people like it that way", I had her read me back my order description and she agreed it was not what I had asked for, but she said all she could do is refund me $100 of my $1,000 cake. What horrible customer service and disgusting standards to send an unfinished cake to a wedding and not even care. I will never use them again adn I will make sure my friends and family know how unprofessional this business is. read more

Suggested my son and his fiance visit Edda's in Doral for their wedding cake. They reported they patiently stood in store waiting for assistance, but no one seemed very interested in helping them. They approached the uninterested woman behind the counter and advised they would like some assistance regarding a.wedding cake and the woman rudely just pointed for them to look. They again asked for help and the woman gave them a book to.look at. They looked in the book and asked about pricing and the woman said to.get.that information they needed to first pay for and attend a.cake tasting and that was all she offered to tell them. Disappointed that no one was interested enough to take a few minutes to help or give information. They left the store and will not be back. Edda's lost a customer. It's sad when businesses get to the point they think they dont need to give good customer service. I will never shop there again and will make sure to spread the word. Maybe we will check out Lucinda's to see if better service is offered. They deserve zero stars but had to put at least 1.star for.review.... stars shame on you Edda's cakes. read more

In my book, 3 strikes your OUT!! I had been a customer for at least 8 years....but now it is time to look elsewhere for unique, pretty and delicious cakes. With each passing year, the staff is less friendlier and competent, and the cakes less yummy. I get the feeling that "they just do not care anymore". My last 3 maybe 4 purchases knocked the wind out of my sails with shotty design-work, mistakes and DRY cake. Looks like their days of constant fresh and moist cakes are over. The actual store can use a facelift and some color. I could not count on them, so now Cake Designs by Edda in Doral can now count on $600 less a year in cake sales. read more

Just got a cake from this place the service is horrible soon as you walk in the girl that was at the counter had no interest in helping us .first she said she had to check to see if they had samples available for the rum cake she took one out for both of us and placed it on the counter in a poor manner we felt like dogs at that point ..the tasting was good but dry she says it's only the samples I bought it cause my son likes there cupcakes but this place truly disappointed me if I ever buy there product I'd rather buy it from a supermarket I personally work for a huge famous market and I have always recommended their sweets but now never again so disappointing . read more

I never write reviews unless I am really disappointed with an experience and today was one of those days. My mom, fiancé and I walked into Eddas and waited a few minutes to be acknowledged for a cake tasting appointment. Customer service was horrible and they just gave us a platter of small cakes and told us the flavor names were on the containers, gave us a binder of cake pictures that were included in our venue package and left with no explanation of pricing upgrades. No explanation of pairings, no personal consultation, just plain horrible!! To top it off, the cakes were all dry, hard and stale. It tasted like they have been out for a while. I don't recommend this vendor for any brides to be. I'm taking my business to Ana Paz. AmaZing customer service and AMAZING, MOIST cakes!! read more

I don't know what happened to the quality of their guava cupcakes, last time I had one was in 2005, I had one yesterday and it was terrible I was so disappointed. The cake was dry, the cake did not taste like guava, it tasted like cardboard, and the cake used to be pinkish in color because of the guava paste that was used in the batter, it was a light brown color. I could not believe how they have gone down in quality. The cream cheese frosting didn't even taste the same! What happened? This makes me sad. Cake design used to make the best ever guava cake with creamcheese frosting. It now taste like cardboard. I had heard from 2 or 3 people that their rum cakes weren't that good anymore, but I cant say because I haven't had one lately, but I can tell you the guava cupcake is crap now. Cake Designs by Edda was referred by a restaurant as a vendor for a baby shower cake. When we arrived at the restaurant we waited about 10 minutes before anyone said anything to us. I let that slide because the associate was very patient and listened to our requests (or so it seemed). We requested tiny babypins, bears and rattles all over the cake and it was barely noticeable on the final cake. The penmanship used to do the writing was amateur at best. Why spend time doing perfect ribbons to have poor handwriting with the cake? To top it off, they had the INCORRECT SPELLING of my friend's name. It was very disappointing. read more
