I haven't used them in five years due to the incompetent service people they sent to repair my central heat/air over and over again. Econo Air lost my trust February 1st 2020. I purchased an air an heating unit from them several years ago. I called them the first of February to service my unit and was told by the their service person that the entire unit needed to be replaced. THAT WAS NOT TRUE. I called another company for a second opinion, and was told that the unit DID NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED. A couple parts were replaced, and the total cost was less than $300 including labor. DO NOT CALL THEM FOR REPAIRS! He was nice, but 1 1/2 hours late and wanted $1300 to replace the circuit board. Or $1900 to replace the board and the ignitor. We sent him away, bought the ignitor for $21 on Amazon, and the board for $75 on Ebay. Watched a 3 minute video on Youtube and replaced both in less than 45 minutes. What was the guy going to do in the attic to justify $1900? Go on Facebook? Read Emails? Go through our Christmas decorations? Pretty sure he was on a good commission because he was visibly disappointed when I sent him away. So glad I did. Call a local handyman if you can't do it yourself. read more

EconoAir is an appalling company. Their technicians have absolutely no expertise in A/C maintenance. They understand how to install an A/C system, albeit imperfectly, but that's where the pseudo-proficiency ends. Beware; the people that come to your house to do an install or administer repairs are actually sales representatives. They push and suggest useless equipment and products that aren't needed, which can cause damage to an otherwise functioning system. Their customer service is horrendous. Making a simple appointment can become an excruciating exercise in futility and if successful, there is a good chance no sales representative will even show up to your house. Stay away from this company at all costs. read more

On the plus side the initial team was courtesous and knowledgeable and very pleasant - very nice guys and a day after their call we got a lovely thank-you card for our business. Unfortunately, after we got the $100 special for having our AC units serviced and new filters installed they informed us that we needed $1900 in service or we should buy new units. The specialist came to our home and told us our current units had insufficient capacity, the supplies they need are no longer available, and we need not only new units totaling 3 tons, but also fan motors and some kind of relay equipment for a grand total of $35,000. With rebates and off-season discounts they could give us a tremendous deal for $24,000. Meanwhile the units are working fine. read more

Wow. What a scam. I finally said yes to the many calls I get from Econo about doing a 69 dollar inspection of my heater which I purchased from them in 2002. We hardly use this heater as we live in the San Fernando Valley. They come and tell me it needs $2,300 in parts to repair it or 3-6K to replace it. My wife immediately checked Yelp and saw the large amount of 1 star review, I called to ask them directly about it and they kindly referred me to Customer Lobby linked on their website to make it all better, which is a TOTAL scam. Customer Lobby is a pay-for service that they control that lets good reviews get posted and bad reviews to never see the light of day. Just to check I submitted my review there, to see if they would post it or call me to try to resolve this --no posting, not call. Very, very deceitful in my view. If I really do need a new heater exchanger, inducer draft motor, and nox rods --let's just say I did for a second, how about calling the factory and calling the unit a lemon or trying to do something to figure out why a hardly used unit is in such need of repair. No offer of a discount, no understanding of customer service or trying to help AND I bought this system from them. Just a very cold and mechanical response from the supervisor Raul. AND the heater exchanger IS covered under warrantee --and they still wanted to charge me and it was not replaced. I feel yucky inside. read more

Econo Air came recommended to us by my parents and we ended up using them for our first house. We are now in the process of moving in to our second house and immediately called them to schedule an appointment for a new heater and putting in an AC. It was easy to make an appointment, but that's where the easy part ends. Tim, our consultant if you can call him that, arrived an hour late...an hour late from the BACK end of the window. I had to call the office to see where he was because I never received a phone call letting me know that he would be late. I know that things happen, but a phone call would be nice, especially since we are not living at our new house yet and I had to drive over there after finding childcare. The office didn't know where he was but said they would find out. They called back 15 minutes later and said that he would be another 45 minutes. I asked if they had another consultant. No was the answer I was given. When Tim finally arrived, he looked at our old heater and plopped down a price list. There are four options. This is where I was shocked. Like, I said, we had used them in our old house 4 years ago. Four. The lowest package was $5,000 more then we paid 4 years ago and the package we had purchased was $10,000 more. They literally went up 100% in four years. When my dad, who was with me, asked if they had raised their prices, Tim replied, "about 15%". Yea right. When I asked if they had other options (last time when I was presented with the packages, I was still able to customize with different condensers), he said no. Since the prices he quoted me were WAY over our budget, I told him that I would get back to him and he said he would email me the price list (since he had no paperwork to leave me.). He said that since my dad and I were repeat customers, he would talk to his boss to see if they could cut us a deal. This was a Saturday. By Monday at 5PM I still hadn't received an email or a phone call. I called Tim and he hadn't talked to his supervisor yet. He said he would call me the next day. I told him that we had an appointment with another company the next day at 10AM. At that point he changed his tune and said he would call me first thing in the morning. He called at 7AM on Tuesday morning and let me know that since we were repeat customers, they would let us purchase the unit that we had at our old house for the price of the cheapest package they currently offered...which is still $5,000 more then we paid 4 years ago. I told him no thank you. Fed up at this point, my husband called and asked to talk to a manager after our quote with the other company later that day. (Who gave us a quote for under what Econo Air had charged us last time and included a better unit, thermostat, filter, AND pulled all the proper permits.). He was told there was no manager there and to call back later. He did and finally got a hold of someone. After explaining the situation and how we were repeat customers, he was told that "Econo Air is a more mature business now." My husband replied, "You're a mature business that just lost our business." Terrible experience and a waste of our time. read more

This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. They came out for a special to fill up the freon or whatever it was. They didn't even fill it up. They quoted me $1500. I didn't even call them, they called me. When they left, they had BROKEN my air conditioner. It didnt work. They came back the next day and fixed it. They "forgot" to flip some switch. The man who actually worked on my air was nice. The jerk who was the "sales" guy who came with him was not. He didn't apologize for the mistake, he told me he'd only fill one of my air conditioners. Our AC was old and costing us way too much! We got a couple of quotes and ended up going with EconoAir - great decision!! We met with the CEO Mike - great guy, very informative. We decided to have everything replaced... unit in the house, unit outside, and all ducking. Great service - the installation crew was very professional and did not mind all of my crazy questions. The tech, Jason has been great to work with - we have had to have someone out for a minor tweak- service was quick and they made sure everything was right!! I had them come out to look at my AC, was cold but not really cold enough, just passable. I was told it needed cleaning at a cost of $1700 (to clean?). I told them no but had to pay the $69 diagnostic feel. Now, the ac wasn't blowing hot, just not really that cold either. A day after they came out now it blows hot air only. I suspect that they let all the freon out when they did the diagnostic thinking I would cough up the $1700. Of course I have no proof of it. But if you sit back and think about it, I don't see how cleaning dust and perhaps adding some freon is worth $1700. Anyway, never again. read more

I would hire them again, the only downside is that they harass you (they call you and call you until you make an appointment with them) which is very annoying. Especially when the sales dept., is asking you to confirm an appointment which you haven't even booked yet!? 2) When we bought solar panels, they forgot to "disclose" that solar panels need 2x (winter and summer) tune-ups, which it would void the guarantee if we don't get this done through them. read more

Econo Air is a very deceitful company. Do not do service with them! They will try to take advantage of you if they think you do not know what they are talking about. Take my word for it, make sure you get a second opinion if you do have an estimate from them. We have had Econo Air come and service our air conditioner periodically in the last 4 years with a decent result. They were not cheap, but we wanted the job done well. About 5 weeks ago, our heater stopped working. Because we were familiar with them, we called Econo Air to come and take a look. They told us the furnace was old, the wires were frayed and had almost caught fire. They told us it was dangerous for us to use our heater and that we needed a new system. But, they said, the good news was that for just $10,000 they could install a 5 ton unit right away! Imagine our shock! Right before the holidays and the cold weather. When we told them that we wanted a second opinion and that we would call them soon, the salesman (the manager, no less!) just looked at us. The second AND third opinion (we wanted to make sure we kept our family safe!) said there was nothing wrong with the system, it was old, but still working and safe to use. They cleaned some wires and voila, it worked! We saved ourselves $10,000 just like that! We never got a call back from Econo Air to check to see if we still wanted the new heating/air conditioner installed. Probably because they knew we really did not need it and we would find out when we got the second opinion. We bought it from someone else over 15 years ago and we learned more about the workings of it today and how to make it work less and be more efficient. My first review so I apologize if I don't know the protocol.. On the sixth of this month record 115 degree weather. To give perspective need to describe what we do... We run a special needs facility and my mom (88 yrs) also resides in the home. We, do a check on our facility to ensure we have air working over the hot summer... Did dye test and system test all good.. Yes, air down on the hottest day on record. We are 13+ years customer. To their credit sent someone the next day ( same guy who got it wrong twice now three times) no fix, but a $4000 quote and no definitive date for repair. Lucky us, we got a small company in Montclair to help us (Appliance Masters Montclair Ca.) Frank (owner) took my call and even though I was way out of his area he showed up to help our facility. Never asked what my previous quote was just what the problem was then to send him a picture of the unit model number to be prepared to fix our problem. This small company not only fixed the problem on that visit it only cost us little over $500. Econo air corporate never returned my request for help and it took 2 calls to finally get econo air Brea to call me. They did offer if I send them a copy of my bill they might be able to compensate me. I said no, they don't get it, its not the money I spent it is how I trusted them and was ready to pay 4k on a fix that could have been handled that day. I have the invoice just don't know how to post it so all you know a fix that day would have protected my facility for far less than this professional organization.. We received a sales call for filter change and check up. Once he came in he went on and on about what it needed. He had us believe that we needed a part that was about to go out on us. So we had a quote of $666.00. What started out as a $166.00 call for filter and check up we paid them $ 666.00 we then found out through my husband's company air condition unit that the part cost $35.00 on line so we got screwed! My old system was not broken, I felt that I would update and improve cooling and heating. What a Very Very Large mistake I made using Econo Air. The air conditioning lasted three days. Getting a tech to the house to fix and repair it is and has been so bad that i won't tell you. 10 yr warranty what a joke. Please take this word of advise runaway from Econo Air and do not let them in your house and/or on your property. The installers showed up On time, immediately put on booties and covered my wood floors. When they were finished my floors were cleaner than when they started. Also, I had my 1 year check up done by Dylan, he came on time, checked everything, answered all my questions and did a great job. Letting one of their Tech in your home is like going to the Car dealership for a oil and filter change ,and having to get the, you also need a trans flush and the fuel injectors cleaned or you could have problems and it will only be $600. The dispatcher said the technician is in my house already. But no one is here. I ask for the manager. Daniel promise me technician will be here from 1:30 to 2pm. Again nobody showed up and no phone call for the delay. I called again this time to cancel the appointment with Patricia. This is not the Econo Air that I used to know. Less than a year ago, and using the same "scare" tatics sighted by everyone else, I had a new fan motor installed and, on the recommendation of the service/sales guy purchased a device which was supposed to "scrub' the air using an ultra violet light. Well I just called on the scurbbing device I much to my surprise the bulb which does the scrubbing has burned out. The good news is they will replace it for only $495, what!. Now remember the last guy told me all I needed was to replace the motor, today they tell me that the coils are all frayed and that I should replace the unit, it is not expensived between $15 and $20,000. WORST Customer service EVER! DO NOT hire them! Econo Air replaced an old gas heater in my apt. Shortly thereafter I smelled gas & called the Gas Company. I was told there was a leak coming from a faulty valve that needed to be replaced from the company that installed it. While the Gas Co technician looked at my heater - it FELL OFF THE WALL because the Econo Air tech did not screw it in. I then called Econo Air to come out and look at it advising them what the Gas Co said. When the Econo Air tech came out he was nice and polite and confirmed that I did need a new valve - but that it has to be ordered and he would phone me in a day or two with an eta. SIX days later I called them - the employee I spoke with said they would research it and call me back. I did not hear from them so I phoned them back AGAIN the next day. I THEN was told someone would be out between 9-12 to repair the leaky valve. Guess what?? No one showed - while I waited all morning. I phoned Econo Air and was told the technician came - knocked & left because of no answer. FICTION! I have been home all morning waiting. WORST service ever. When I called to explain my problem AGAIN I was given to a supervisor named Justin - who ended up HANGING up on me. WORST COMPANY EVER. I've been a 15 year customer. The first system made it 12 years before it took a crap and the whole system needed replacing. I did the twice yearly maintenance and it was really a good set up. 2010 we replace the compressor and FAU furnace unit. Its been nothing but trouble. Its a mid-price Carrier unit with a scroll compressor. Man. Its blown all kinds of relays. Repeatedly. Every time the temp gets close to 110 here in the SGV it trips out, fries things and costs me a bundle to repair. Today, 6/29813 was such a day. It went out the afternoon prior where it was 113 here. Today they did 1.7K worth of repairs and it ran fine until the repair man left. Now it trips out the circuit breaker every 20 minutes or so and they can't get back out until tomorrow. Another hot night in the SGV without air. Their service techs are always polite and you can work a deal with them. Service contracts are a good way to go to keep your unit in top condition. The lesson learned here, and the caveat is that the service you get is only as good as the tech and his experience on your door step. read more

I talked to a girl named Shayley who was very helpful every step of the way...coordinating with the city and helping with all the things I didn't know were involved with the install of heating/AC. Too many ridiculous issues to rehash here but similar or worse to the other fare in the other reviews. Instead, do some homework, read other people's real reviews like my own, and then find one of their 4 or 5 star competitors to do your work. Had I done that, I could have found the same Lennox or better equipment and superior installation with caring and competent service techs, telephone reps and service managers that don't blow excuses, blame and smoke for as low as $4,250. A few years ago, I had a split duct system installed by Econoair. It never worked correctly. After repeated attempts to get Econoair to address the problem they never solved the issue. I had another company, with better reviews, that was also recommended by my neighbor come out. They confirmed that the unit was installed incorrectly and I hired them to fix it. This is my first Yelp review. I'm an older person and was so horrified at this experience that it led me to sign up and write this review. They installed the system initially and did a great job. After that, every visit ends up costing triple what it should! They charge for things you don't need and the price is outrageous. $500 for coolant-$100.00 for an air filter (They sell at Lowes for $30.00) $500 for a thermostat, it goes on and on. They are nice, polite and clean as they screw you! You have been warned. read more

Have you ever been sittin there, minding your own business and all of the sudden remember something you didn't do, or could have done better. Well, today is one of those days. Quite a while ago I had some A.C. problems and really didn't know who to call. I won't bore you with the entire selection process but the end result was a call to Econo Air. Now, it was a while ago, so as the minutia escapes my memory I can say I remember it was a much nicer experience than I have had with other companies.... that memory being having to wait all day only for them to show up late to a 5 hour windowed appointment, spending hours walking back and fourth, asking questions like 'did I change my filter??' (Your answer to which should be... "No, I didn't. Does that mean you can't fix it?")... and then ultimately charging me 100's of dollars but still having to schedule another appointment because they could not resolve the problem. Now with Econo Air, Chad L. was in contact with me even before he showed up, keeping me informed of his estimated arrival time. Which was very nice as I was able to handle a few errands with no fear of a "knock an dash" like cable companies and the like. Long story short (too late) Chad L. shows up right when he said he would, diagnosed the problem, fixed the problem and all was well. In my dealing with Chad L. and Econo Air, not once did I get the feeling I was being cheated, wronged or defrauded..... you know the move technician steps away makes a call then all of the sudden it's 300 dollars more..... Anyway, I digress. I just now had a recollection of this experience and I thought to myself I really didn't do Econo Air and especially Chad L. any justice by not writing a review. So, I apologize you had to wait a time with patience for this review. I wish my name was Wadsworth, Hemingway, or dare I say Shakespeare so I could have written a review worthy of the service I received...
