6-piece chicken and waffles with mango habanero sauce on the side, and rice with ground beef, spinach, parsley, and Parmesan. Delicious!

Delicious fried chicken! It was just a 15-minute wait for freshly prepared food - so glad my apartment complex brought them around. I got the mango habanero sauce, and it was sweet with a little bit of heat. The chicken was fried perfectly, without any extra grease, and the waffle and rice were great accompaniments. I hope they come around more often!

Food truck in my area so I decided to give it a try. Great decision. Reasonably priced and great presentation. Wow..the chicken alone was so delicious and full of flavor. I would have just ordered the chicken by itself personally. The waffle was good and freshly made and came with a syrup that tasted as if it had a special flavor added in and was tasty. The rice was okay in my opinion and I would have been fine without it. The gentleman was very nice and provided great customer service. I even watched him prepare and put his gloves on prior to preparing, definitely a huge plus for me. I would definitely order again.

Shrimp and fish plate. Fried chicken and fish sandwiches.

Wonderful service. Food is what you would want if you want fried chicken and waffles or a fried pork sandwich from an awesome food truck. It's so good. The owner is extremely humble. He's honest. He works hard. I wouldn't think twice before supporting this truck again.

Luckily our server was able to move us to the covered outdoor seating after a little while which was a little better. The covered patio has fans. However, bonus for sitting outside is that they're having a promo during HRW where happy hour drink specials are going on all day. The food and drinks were all yummy though. We got the yum yum fries for the table to share. I ordered the duck duck shroom pizza and the aperol spritz. The portions of everyone's food were huge so I'd say a good bang for your buck. The giant pretzel we ordered for appetizer was excellent, highlight of the meal. The sourdough pizzas were pretty thin, overall I'd give the pizzas a 3/5. Of the 4 pizzas we tried, my personal ranking: 1. Spicy Goat 2. Duck Duck Shroom 3. Heirloom Margherita 4. Sweet & Spicy Pepperoni. Service was also disorganized and a little slow. I'd come back if I'm craving that pretzel.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the food. This was my first experience with Credence and the atmosphere was new, modern and a little noisy. The lunch gnocchi was my first experience with gnocchi (in particular cornmeal gnocchi) so I have nothing with which to compare; I would probably not have it again but it wasn't bad. I have had plenty of beet salads and this didn't make the top ten. The grilled tuna salad my husband ordered rated a 0 on a scale of 1-5. The tuna may have been grilled as advertised, but there was no evidence of it, and there was absolutely no taste to it. I would have expected there to be some seasoning, but again, no evidence. The green beans were so crunchy they might as well have been fresh-picked and the sauce over the snow peas was so tasteless, Ranch dressing would have been a huge improvement. I could only eat one, and I really like snow peas. Until they get a better chef, I will not be returning.

The ambiance was beautiful too, and the speakeasy was such a fun bonus. The monkey bread was the perfect way to start ! Warm, soft, and dangerously easy to keep eating. The baked potato was probably one of my favorite sides; it was super creamy with this crusted layer that basically melted in your mouth. The NY Strip steak was perfectly seasoned and definitely lived up to expectations. The branzino was fresh and cooked well, but the seasoning was a little too subtle for me, so it didn't stand out as much as the other dishes. I also wasn't a huge fan of the cabbage. Overall though, Credence absolutely delivered. Great food, great service, beautiful atmosphere, and plenty of dishes I'd come back for.

I opted for the high top right by the kitchen, and honestly, great choice -- it smelled amazing. Most people prefer not to sit by the kitchen with all the foot traffic but I didn't mind it at all. Nobie's is a house that's been transformed into a restaurant. One of the bartenders told me it's a 104-year-old house, and the whole place has very "house party" vibes in the best way. The music is LOUD. And it gets progressively louder as the night goes on, so if that's not your vibe, keep that in mind. But I was very into it. Lil Flip was playing when I walked in and it took me back to high school house parties. On shuffle were more throwbacks and classics: Ludacris and "Notorious Thugs" by Biggie. The chairs, however, were not my favorite. They're low-backed and kind of cage-like, with only a thin cushion, so they aren't exactly the most comfortable for a long meal. Started with a cocktail: the Remolacha del Corazón -- beet tequila, mezcal, watermelon (house-made syrup), lime and a tajín rim. You can hardly taste the mezcal, which I'm assuming is the point. I like mezcal so it would have been nice to taste it but the beet tequila is definitely the star, with the watermelon and lime adding a nice balance. Appetizer: Don't Worry, Brie Happy ($18). Brie, local honey, smoked grapes, toast. There was basically no local honey on my plate, but those smoked grapes?! They're topped with flaky salt while they're still hot and OMG!! The combination of warm, smoky, sweet and salty was fantastic. My only complaint was the amount of toast. There was a little too much toast for the amount of brie and grapes, so the ratios felt slightly off. Main course: Jamón With Your Bad Self ($45). Ibérico secreto pork steak, tonnato, shaved Brussels sprouts, salsa verde and almonds. I'm particular about pork, so I was taking a bit of a chance here, but this dish sounded too interesting to pass up. The pork steak was cooked perfectly and had some wonderfully crispy pieces around the edges. The tonnato underneath the pork was really good. It almost reminded me of a Caesar dressing and added this rich, savory element to the dish. The shaved Brussels sprouts were great, too, especially with the almonds and Parmesan. Everything worked really well together. Dessert: Olive Oil Cake. A house staple, and for good reason. A lovely way to end the meal. Overall, Nobie's has a really fun, unpretentious energy. Between the old-house setting, loud music and memorable dishes, it feels like somewhere you go to hang out as much as you go to eat. Just know what you're getting into with the volume and the seating -- this is not exactly a quiet, polished fine-dining experience, and that's kind of the charm.

My youngest had the chicken tenders with mac and cheese, and my husband really liked his stuffed poblano pepper dish. I ordered the country-fried pork with greens and mashed potatoes, and everything on my plate was delicious. The mashed potatoes were great, and the greens leaned more sweet than savory, which I really enjoyed. The fried green tomatoes were another major standout with the sauce they served. When out of town business visitors come to Houston and seek balance, this is one of those spots worth paying a visit. Having this location downtown the last couple of years has been more convenient for those working in the area. Vibe / Interior - 4.5* So how has this spot managed to compete and survive in the Houston food scene? Well, there's a lot to unpack but I will say one perspective is the effort for balance. When you walk in you will get a sense of how well it toes the line between not being too upscale and pretentious yet not solely casual when it comes to the vibe. Someone in a business suit will fit in just as well as someone in a soccer jersey catching the World Cup. Food & Drink - 4* Balance shows up here too. They have a good selection of options from starters such as sticky ribs, bang bang shrimp, smoked pork belly, or maybe some oysters, poke, or kung pao calamari? For entrees you can go a little lighter with a salad or fresh fish or dive off the deep end with a chicken fried steak or pork chop. Whiskey, wine, or beer? Or a cocktail? They have a bit of anything you may fancy. Their cocktails aren't overly creative but they have plenty of the classics. I'm not going to sit here and say that any of their dishes will be the best in town. What I will say is they do tend to be above average. Again, it's about choice and balance. Service - 4* I've not experienced bad service here. The servers are always attentive and check in frequently. Most will make good recommendations dependent on what you're looking for. If there's only one area that I've found can be a little lagging sometimes is the close out. While they do check in during your visit, getting the bill/check and getting out can be a bit slow, but it isn't terrible. Cost/Pricing - 3.75* I'm not going to say their pricing is excellent, but it finds balance again. They aren't unapproachable but they aren't the cheapest. They do tend to deliver good portion sizes and higher quality than other establishments for what they serve. Overall - 4* Support local establishments, especially when visiting such a diverse city like Houston. If you find yourself downtown looking for an approachable restaurant where all are welcome, pay a visit here!
