So I've been seeing this spot for a while and finally decided to swing by and grab a quick bite. I went with the bacon cheeseburger--figured it was a safe bet. Honestly, it was pretty solid. You can tell the patty is frozen, but it still hit the spot. The toppings were fresh and had a nice crunch to them, and the bun was super soft--like, surprisingly soft in a good way. The menu's also super reasonable, which was a nice surprise. Nothing crazy overpriced, just good food at a fair price. Cash only and it's directly across from UH What really stood out, though, was the customer service. Everyone was super friendly and chill, which made the experience way better. Not a bad place if you're looking for something quick and tasty. I'd definitely go back to try something else.

Saw a TikTok about Best Old School joints. #1 was Champs. STFU! I've been there and to Stanton's City Bites, Langford Grocery & none of them top CREAM! Since I'd never been here it was time for a trip to compare. I beat the crowd but this visit was worth it! Got a large burger & fries for a $9.50 total. Hey, bring cash, no cards. This is Old School! Not much room to eat outside so I hit my car to grub. Check out my TikTok video of HAMMERHEAD for the full review. Bun was griddle toasted & best I've had in a while. Adds to the flavor which melded beautifully with a well seasoned patty. Thin for my taste but taste is what counts & there's plenty of it here! Veggies piled high & that incredible griddle cooked filled my car even before I unwrapped that all that goodness! Check out the pix! Oh, man, those fries are second to none! Nicely salted & fried to a light crisp just so each one has a "wilt" to it! Grab one on the end then tilt your head back for a piping hot potato goodness going down the hatch. "Tilt for the wilt!" Thrilled there's a joint making fries the old fashioned way! Face it, young ones, Old School is the Best School! Cream is a decades-old 3rd Ward gem. Sad it took me so long to come here. The lady is friendly, talks to you like she's known you for years. She'll touch your hand sometimes with both of hers while y'all laugh as she takes your order on the paper bag where she will put your order. My card & order number was 30. She also puts in on the paper bag. Old School. My kinda place! Can't wait to go back!!!

My fellow Yelp friends and I checked out Cream Burger for our monthly burger lunch. We check out popular spots as well as spots that some may never hear about. The latter is what Cream Burger is. I never heard of it before. It's been around for awhile and looks like a mom and pop shop. It's centrally located near East Downtown, right across from U of H. It's a hole in the wall kind of spot and to me those are the best places. There's nothing fancy about it. There is no dining area other than a couple of tables outside that are covered by a tin roof. You order at a barred up window and wait for your number to be called. There isn't much to the menu which I wasn't mad at. That just means they do those few items well. You have hamburgers, cheeseburgers, chili cheeseburgers, hot dogs and sides. The burgers come in different size options. I went with a large cheeseburger with added bacon, a small fry and a soda. I'm guessing they make the burgers to order as it takes a little bit of time. The food was served in a brown bag and each items was wrapped up nicely. The burger was a nice size and reminded me of a nice homemade burger. I wish they listed what they had on the burgers. The only modification I made was to omit pickles. What I didn't know is that they only do mustard or atleast that's all I tasted. I like mayo with just a little mustard. That being said, the burger was still good. The meat was seasoned nicely and all the toppings tasted fresh. I think the bacon was a wise choice. The fries tasted good. I don't know if they are hand cut or frozen. Overall, my visit here was successful. I wouldn't say the burger is mind blowing or the best burger I ever had, but a solid burger nonetheless. The prices here are definitely a plus as well. I would come back if in the area.

Loved the legendary Cream Burger. Cannot believe that it took me so long to drop by. Made sure I had cash. Fed me, my teen and ten year old for under $20. This was fantastic. The burger was a classic and the chili cheese fries, drenched with chili and STILL CRISP!!!!

Mom & Pop old school feel. Straight to the point. Good burger, great service, and my order is always accurate.

This is truly a staple here. The burgers are decent and the shakes are too. The menu is super simple I would suggest the double cheese burger and a vanilla shake. The talked about pineapple shake is just a vanilla shake with pineapple chunks in it. The chili cheese fries are okay. The service was quick to me and it's like an outside Eatery or grab and go, no ambiance but the prices are very affordable

Ms Beverly wasn't impressed I had been there many time while it was my sons first time. "It took you too long then." She was right. My 21 year old was 3 years late in starting his Cream Burger experience. *********** I was a freshman at nearby U of H when late one day some friends and I decided to walk the long trek from Moody Towers to Holman @ Scott. "Bro, it's worth it." Trey said, excited to share his adopted home's burger joint (Trey literally attended U of H since it's in Third Ward Houston, which is nicknamed appropriately enough The Trey. The cash only spot features all the classic offerings, cheeseburgers, bacon burgers, shakes, the whole experience. I ordered the strawberry shake, the cheeseburger, and the frito pie. It's been my go to order since. The shake is exactly what you expect, a thick light red artificial flavor of strawberries with milk. It's the perfect sweet compliment to the savory and salty frito pie; I get mine without the onions but I've had it both ways. The burger is what you expect from your hood joint, loaded with taste, very juicy, all the fixings are fresh, and ready to be devoured. I'm a mustard and no mayo type of guy and this one hits. The fact they char the bun gives it a great crispy buttery taste on the bun that makes a huge difference. ************ Over 20 years later, my son opted for the cheeseburger and loaded fries. Just like my burger, it's just as delicious. The loaded fries with cheese are what you expect; I actually think the cheese is a bit overkill but they are a good option. My sons Dr Pepper was flat but we got a new one and it wasn't a big deal. My son remarked how many times he's passed by but never stopped in but obviously he needed to stop by more often. Ms. Beverly heard that exchange and said "See, you should've brought him a long time." Don't make my mistake; raise your kids or yourself right and get you some. Pro tip: the cash only joint gets busy; don't waste Ms Beverly's time in the line. Know what you want before you stand.

I had opted for a beef burger with a side of chili cheese tater tots to share. The burger is quite large and filled generously with whatever add-ins you check off so it was very filling for me. I went with two 2oz patties, but considering the size, I'd opt for a single 2 oz patty if I go back. For my burger I also added scallion aioli which didn't have a strong green onion flavor but was still nice and added creaminess to the burger overall. The tater tots were super crispy, and the chili cheese topping was nice. I had gone shortly after they opened and it wasn't super busy but it started to quickly fill up around 11:30-12. Decent amount of tables and good parking situation outside

To start off with a positive, I thought the falafel patty had a really great taste and was absolutely the highlight of the burger. But outside of that the burger and the toppings I ordered just didn't work as well as I would've liked. I ordered my burger with mushrooms and sauteed onions, both toppings I know I absolutely love from making burgers at home and from other spots, but neither added much. At first I was worried that the falafel was overpowering them both but upon eating them by themselves they just lacked taste. We also got the scallion aioli on the burger and I never got a hint of it at any point. All in all, the burger was very much mediocre outside of the patty. We also got fries with the burger and while they absolutely had some potential they were extremely over seasoned. Any appreciation for the seasonings in a vacuum was immediately overshadowed by how salty they were. We also ordered the Sambal Mayo as a dipping sauce and while it did help subdue the insane salt level and overall tasted quite good, upon writing this review I found out by looking at their online menu that it contained some amount of shrimp. This information is nowhere to be seen on the ordering slip and wasn't mentioned when I handed it over to the person working at the cash register. And while I definitely accept some level of responsibility for not doing my due diligence and asking or letting them know of my dietary restrictions, it's still an extremely frustrating thing to have happen as both a vegetarian and someone with a mild shellfish allergy. If for whatever reason the online menu is out of date or I missed an obvious indication of it containing shrimp somewhere I am more than happy to edit my review.

Love seeing the lunch rush though because you know it's gonna be good. Ambiance wise, this place is very chill. Burger wise, this place is just a well executed classic burger. Big, juicy, fresh toppings, honestly nothing to complain about. The onion rings were some of the best that I've had recently, and I ordered their "Texas size steak sandwich" to go as well for dinner, very filling.
