A pretty decent sushi restaurant. The sushi here is good. They have standard rolls with a good quantity of fish. The sushi rolls themselves, however, are pretty average tasting. Don't get me wrong, the sushi here is good, but nothing special. I'm not craving to come back here for the sushi. The sashimi salad, however, is what I'd come back for. The sashimi in the salad is packed with flavor and it's so fresh. The lettuce and veggies were so crisp and juicy with a savory ginger dressing that complemented the whole dish so well. I'd definitely recommend having the sashimi salad as a starter. For the sushi, my party had the Spicy Baked Salmon Roll, Rainbow Roll, Bikini Roll, Spicy Crunch Roll, and the Tiger Roll. All of these were pretty solid options, but my favorite was the Spicy Baked Salmon Roll. I recommend this roll if you go. We also had the Gyoza and the Vegetable Tempura and they were good as well. No complaints. There's a big parking lot where the restaurant is located so finding a spot shouldn't be too difficult. The staff are nice and attentive so no complaints in the service department either. read more

This place is literally the best! I found it on Yelp and decided to try it and I've gone back 3 times since. I don't live in the area but I will drive down just to eat here, it's that good! The food is delicious, fresh, and always comes out super quick. The waiters are super friendly and are always there to make sure you have every thing you need. I ordered the spicy tuna crispy rice, assortment of nigiri, eel roll, and a few other things as well. This place never disappoints and I always recommend it to anyone looking for a sushi place is Costa Mesa! 10/10! read more

This sushi place is surprisingly good! Biggest mistake we made is that we didn't sign up to wait in the line before we arrive. Hence we wait to be seated outside for at least an hour. We would recommend all the sushi and beef. It's of good quality given the price. The service is good and especially we get a free soda if we check in on yelp to redeem the free offer. Loved this spot! Well priced, delicious fish, and great service. Located in a small plaza in Costa Mesa. Came here on a weekday and had to wait for about 20 minutes for a seat. The fish was well priced and the portions were good. We got the chirashi, nigiri, fried shrimp, and several hand rolls and felt full afterwards. Would recommend to anyone looking for a casual dining spot. read more

Took forever to get a table here but was well worth it. We joined the waitlist at 5pm on a Thursday night and waited an hour and a half before we were sat. There isn't much space in here but it's well worth the wait. I travel 2-3 times a month and eat sushi on nearly every trip. I work on the east coast so have had sushi from Boston, Philly, NYC, Maryland, VA, Carolinas, Florida, etc.... This beats them all. The sushi here is amazing. Definitely better than any place I've had on the east coast. Not sure how it stacks up to other times places in socal but based on the reviews I'd assume it's pretty competitive. Well worth the wait. We tried the chicken katsu bento box, the steak bento box and about 10 different rolls at the table. Everything is perfectly done and the prices are insanely cheap compared to the EC. After trying 10+ sushi spots in OC. This is hands down the best. The quality of fish is top notch at an affordable price. It does get busy and requires a wait most times but the service is very fast. You get real wasabi by default, none of the fake horseradish stuff and the fish is fresh and melts in your mouth. The Caliente and Zhen roles are a must try and for Nigiri the yellow tail and bluefin are amazing. You will not be disappointed and it is worth the wait every time I visit. I was refusing to leave a review because the place gets busy as is but now that I am moving from the area I am dropping the hidden gems. Enjoy! read more

A 5-minute drive from South Coast Plaza. I came mainly for the daily limited-edition, ultra-high-quality uni on gunkan. The golden uni was exceptionally fresh, sweet, and melted in my mouth with no bitterness or fishiness. For 8.75 per piece I highly recommended. Also worth trying is the daily limited Fatty Tuna sushi. The tuna belly has a very high fat content, making it especially soft, tender, and sweet. I usually prefer salmon, but this tuna was just unbelievably delicious. For the main dish, I ordered the Black Spider Roll topped with eel and longfin tuna puree. The rice is wrapped with crispy soft-shell crab avocado , and refreshing cucumber Drizzled with Spicy Mayo and Eel Sauce, it was incredibly satisfying in one bite! This place has a wide selection of rolls, and most are 7-10 , making it a great value. The Salmon Collar here is also daily limited. It's fragrant, juicy, and has a firm texture. Personally, I think it's more flavorful than the Salmon and Bluefin Tuna Sashimi. The Salmon Sashimi with black truffle oil was a bit heavy on the flavor, while the bluefin tuna was relatively lighter. In short, you must order the uni and Fatty Tuna when you come here ! ! The filling rolls are also a great choice to order a few of, very cost-effective. read more

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Great sushi value with great service. I came for lunch with a friend on a weekday right before they opened--we were warned they get busy, and indeed they did. A mutual friend had raved about this place so we had to check it out. There was no sushi bar seating, so we sat in one of the booths. All the nigiri come in single pieces, FYI, which can be a nice option, actually. We ordered an assortment of favorites: salmon, yellowtail, toro, scallops (my fave)--all excellent. Great fish quality and portions and perfect sushi rice. After some sake we decided give the uni a go and that was a winner, too! The service was friendly and prompt, and we had a great experience. My friends and I came in on a busy Friday night, the wait was about an hour. The ambiance and food made the wait so worth it though. I remember the popcorn roll, energy roll, and zen roll being our favorites! We were super impressed by the quality of the sashimi as well! There were 4 of us and we shared everything family style, meaning we each paid less than $30. For delicious sushi that's not a bad price at all. My curiosity peaked at the rave reviews and the nearly perfect score for this sushi place and I needed to check it out. This place was located in the corner of a small strip of other eateries with Stater Bro's being the focal point of where to find this sushi joint. Although we arrived before 5 pm, there was already a 15 min wait! You can check in through Yelp but I don't know if you can call the place and make a reservation. I'd make one if you're planning to come during busy hours. After waiting we were seated and given menus. They have an extensive list of sushi items and whatever you want, you put it on the sheet they supply. I don't remember what we ordered, but everything was super delicious! Each piece of sushi literally melted in our mouths. It was probably the best sushi we've had ever lol. read more

We love this sushi spot. Every time we stop by OC we do make sure to stop here. I highly recommend you guys to order these items below! Even though it's not all you can eat, I can guaranteed getting these are worth it. Also make sure to check in on yelp for a free soda can 1) pepper salmon 2) fatty tuna 3) salmon eggs 4) shrimp tempura extra crispy This place I don't get overstuffed but I always leave satisfied. After a long flight from a chicago we wanted to eat some good sushi here in California. Bubba found this great gem near our hotel so off we went! The location is in a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking. We signed on a digital tablet to text us when it's our turn to eat. The place is very small we were here around 6pm and it was packed and a few folks waiting outside on the benches... along the benches they also had heating lamps as there's no room to wait inside so when it gets chilly here at night they turn them on cool heated flames. They also had copies of their menu to review and since there was 40 ppl waiting ahead of us to it was 40-45 minutes for the 3 of us. We enjoyed sitting a bit and circling what we wanted to order. Once hubby got a text alert we were seated in a nice booth...I love booths to dine in. They were even able to accommodate a large group. When there's Japanese chefs making the dishes and Asians eating here you KNOW it's a good place to eat! Here is what we ordered: all good we would order again! Appetizers: Salmon grilled jowls appetizer - was so good limited Amount I think we got the last batch. So worth it fatty soft smoky flavors with a ponzu sauce with thinly sliced rice vinegar pickled cucumber. Will get again! Chicken cutlet was served hot chicken breast with sweet teriyaki sauce drizzle. Tempura crunch light chicken will get again Soft crab appetizer - a whole crab 4 sliced pieces lightly battered so tasty not only or too breaded Vegetable tempura had nice pieces like sweet potatoes, acorn squash,etc. Main dishes: Sea Scallop sushi seasoned was sweet and fresh Salmon sushi season was fresh and light soy season Salmon teriyaki bento box came with smoky grilled salmon fillet with skin, fresh spring salsa, white rice and miso soup. Spicy tuna with shrimp tempura crunch roll was good, had even or more protein than sushi rice Udon noodles tempura came with two shrimp tempura with yellow pickled dicon slices nice amount of udon noodles and broth. I love the thinly slices of green onion. 2pcs if salmon sushi large slices of fresh tasting salmon more than sushi rice. I really like it. Drinks: We ordered chilled sake that came in a cool bucks with ice and a shot glass smooth and sweet. Music: We came on a Friday night so it was music like you were in a club lively speed I felt like I was eating fast because I was following the beat of the songs playing in the restaurant lol! Overall the food was so good worth the wait, the staff was friendly the place was clean and the service was a great experience. This is by far my favorite sushi place in OC. I've been going here for years since they opened and it's hard to go anywhere else. This is my favorite sushi restaurant in OC for yummy, fresh sushi that is also pretty affordable. I love that their rolls come in smaller portions so you're able to try several different ones. Everything I try here always hits so hard and I literally have DREAMS about their seared jumbo scallop nigiri. Their fish tastes so fresh and the texture is so melt in your mouth. The waiters were really nice and our food was brought out really quickly even tho the restaurant was really busy. Definitely join on the waitlist because the wait times can get LONGG on weekends. The restaurant looks so unassuming on the outside esp with the cute sign but the interior is very nicely decorated. Super fresh fish, tasty rolls, and great service! No wonder there's always a long wait here. Thank goodness for the Yelp waitlist. Their salmon sashimi is some of the best I've had. So buttery and smooth. You really can't go wrong with any of their rolls either. The only thing I've ordered that I didn't like was the chicken karaage. Definitely stay away from that. It's just not good. Everything else is 5 stars! I recommend the Salmon Sashimi, Caliente Roll, Shishito Peppers, and Albacore Delight. read more

We took our family here due to our previous excellent experience. This time around, the sushi and service was good, but not excellent. The sushi quality was slightly off by a little bit and our server didn't come by our table much to check in on us. I had to flag her more than once to order more items. We noticed on the California rolls they were really small compared to other places we've been to. read more

Long wait, and it was a very nice place, good food. Not in my top 5, but wasn't crazy expansive either & the fish was fresh. I wasn't a big fan of their spicy chile sauce they used in the spicy rolls. Sort of drowned out the flavor of the fish and the next three orders. I really enjoyed the salmon and tuna sushi. We like to visit this Sushi deliciousness while visiting OC Fair for concerts. We arrived around 5-ish. And wait time last Friday were not bad. Always allow for wait time. Service was on par with our last visit, enjoy asking for suggestions from server. This visit we decided on Ex-Girlfriend, Pink Lady, cucumber wrap, Fire Island Roll, Hawaiian Roll, Tuna roll & Salmon roll (not my fav.) Cucumber salad. Just went here with a friend and my baby on a Wednesday for lunch! We came about 15 minutes early and there was only one group here before us. Within 20 minutes of opening, the restaurant was packed and there was a wait outside. We ordered mainly the sushi, which were super good! I liked all of the ones we got and enjoyed the scallop, bay scallop, sweet shrimp, and toro the most. They were also supppppper accommodating to the fact that I had a baby sleeping in a stroller. I can only imagine how much more accommodating they are to groups with kids. Since I'm in my mom phase of life, it's so important to me when I feel comfortable eating at the restaurant with kids, and that my kids feel comfortable too! The food and price were just as good! For a la carte sushi, I am not disappointed!! Sushi is starting at $2.50 a piece and speciality rolls start at $7.95. The establishment has a wait list but gets closed fast. If you want to sit down asap, come during off hours! The sushi place took over a ramen shop but kept the decor and added some nice touches. The ambiance is oriental and super clean. There are maybe 15 tables and a bar but it's not an overly big restaurant. The fish quality is pretty damn good. I recommend their bluefin tuna, seared scallop and madai (japanese snapper). For the rolls, try the Fire Island Roll and blue crab roll. read more

To me it's not a true crab cake but rather a lump of fresh crab that's breaded and fried. It's ok if you're in to that. The one dish I was curious enough to try today was their Kona crusted lamb loin. I don't usually order lamb unless it's an Indian or middle eastern restaurant. I like lamb but it's not exactly something I crave. so how they explained it was that the Kona was basically using coffee grounds as a dry rub on the meat. So I got curious and ordered it. The grounds basically add a slightly different texture and adds a slight bitterness. Sort of like char from a grill. It was ok and interesting but what stood out the most was the fact that the meat was so perfectly cooked and so flavorful and tender that it overpowered whatever the grounds added to the meat. so I would recommend this solely on the basis of how perfectly tender and flavorful the meat was.

An awesome Japanese restaurant hidden in Costa Mesa Went shopping at South Coast today and couldn't decide on lunch, so I remembered this sushi place I've had my eye on for a long time--it's right near the South Coast! It really didn't disappoint; I'd say it was amazing. We ordered: Salmon Blue Crab Roll This roll was absolutely incredible! The outside was thick, fresh salmon, and it was stuffed with sweet crab meat, creating an explosion of textures. With one bite, you get the rich flavor of salmon and the sweet freshness of crab meat. Highly recommended! Various Sushi We tried many types of sushi this time, including Bluefin Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail, Madai (Japanese Snapper), and Fresh Water Eel. Every single fish was incredibly fresh! Especially the Bluefin Tuna--it had a firm, melt-in-your-mouth texture that you could just tell was fresh. The Fresh Water Eel sushi was also fantastic; the eel was grilled to perfection and drizzled with a special sauce, making the flavor unbeatable. Chicken Karaage Classic Japanese fried chicken. The skin was super crispy, while the chicken inside was incredibly tender and juicy. Dipped in the sauce, it's the perfect bite, and the kids kept asking for more. Tako Yaki These little balls were so authentic. They were golden brown and crispy on the outside, but soft and chewy on the inside, with big chunks of octopus inside. Drizzled with takoyaki sauce and mayonnaise, and topped with bonito flakes, it was that familiar taste I love so much. Baked Green Mussel This dish was quite unique. The green mussels were topped with a thick layer of special sauce and baked until fragrant. The mussels themselves were very fresh, and combined with this creamy sauce, the flavor was very distinctive. A great try for those who love to experiment with new tastes. Seaweed Salad After all that fried food and sushi, the seaweed salad was a refreshing change. The seaweed strands were crispy, paired with a light sesame oil and vinegar dressing, which was very appetizing. Tonkotsu Ramen The ramen broth was especially rich; you could tell it was a long-simmered pork bone broth. It was warm and so comforting to drink. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and there was plenty of chashu pork--so satisfying. Overall, the ingredients at this restaurant are all super fresh, and the flavors are spot on. The generous piece of each fish ensured that every bite was even. If you have doubts about being full, you'll quickly find that each piece is large enough. I was particularly impressed with the quality of the fish - it was extremely fresh and showcased the restaurants commitment to only sourcing the best ingredients possible. While this may be on the pricier side, I can confidentially say that it is worth every penny. The superior quality and attention ti detail on the preparation makes this place a standout amongst other sushi establishments. In addition to the food, I was also impressed by the quick service. The staff was attentive, friendly, and they also ensured that we received everything correctly (they went over our order twice with us). Yesterday at lunchtime, I had a craving for sushi. I chose Eat's Sushi first, as I was in Costa Mesa. The ambiance was comfortable and cozy, with a pleasant hum of conversation swirling in the air. The service was outstanding; our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable, offering recommendations that did not disappoint. For a simple appetizer, I ordered the edamame, which was perfectly steamed and lightly salted. It arrived promptly, and the timing throughout our meal felt just right. I ordered four hand rolls and was surprised that, traditionally cone-shaped, these were more roll-shaped. These roll-shaped hand rolls allowed for more ingredients per roll--a big plus! The four rolls I ordered were a California hand roll, a tuna hand roll, a salmon hand roll, and a crabstick hand roll. I marveled at the freshness and tenderness of the hand rolls; they were truly amazing. It was evident that great care was taken in crafting each item. Overall, I was thoroughly impressed with Eat's Sushi. EAT'S SUSHI stands out as a top sushi restaurant around here in Santa Ana because it offers fresh fish along with creative dishes and fast service. The hand rolls and nigiri stand out as highlights because the toro melted in your mouth although its quality varied between visits. The 4-piece rolls provided an excellent way to taste different dishes because they allowed us to sample multiple options without feeling overwhelmed by excessive food. The staff provided friendly and attentive service throughout all busy periods and the restaurant maintained a cozy atmosphere even when it became crowded. The Yelp waitlist system allowed us to reduce our weekend evening wait during busy hours. The prices at the restaurant seemed reasonable until we realized how quickly the total amount grew when we were hungry. The menu variety compensates for the subpar performance of two appetizers because the karaage lacked crispiness and the spicy edamame failed to deliver sufficient heat. The restaurant provides excellent casual sushi with great taste and quick service although it lacks high-end omakase quality. I would visit again but I would avoid the fatty tuna while choosing more pepper salmon or bluefin sashimi. read more

We tried a variety of items including the Chicken Teriyaki, Jalapeño Bomb, Bluefin Tuna, Chicken Katsu, Tonkotsu Ramen, Caterpillar Roll, Spicy Baked Salmon Roll, Golden Philadelphia Roll, and a Spicy Tuna Hand Roll. Everything came out fresh and nicely prepared. The Bluefin Tuna stood out in particular--it tasted very fresh and had great flavor. The Caterpillar Roll and Spicy Baked Salmon Roll were also highlights, with a great balance of texture and taste. The Jalapeño Bomb was a fun appetizer with a nice kick, and the Chicken Teriyaki and Chicken Katsu were both cooked well and very satisfying. The Tonkotsu Ramen was rich and comforting and a great addition to the meal. The service was excellent throughout the visit--friendly, attentive, and quick. The ambience was also really enjoyable with great music playing in the background, which made the whole dining experience feel relaxed and welcoming.
