My boyfriend and I love coming to eats. The quality of each cut of fish is supreme. Unfortunately, one of the staff members, who we've never seen before, was unpleasant at best. We are sat with no other greeting except, "do you guys want anything to drink?" Not even a hello. Upon completing our order sheet, he walks back over and says, "has anyone taken your order?" We ask, "no, are you our server?" He responds sarcastically, "sure" After this, he was nowhere to be seen the rest of the night. Wow some of the most fresh sushi I've had ! All their rolls are amazing and super fresh. I love that their portions sizes are about 4 pieces so that way you can order more and try different rolls. Pricing is also super affordable. The fish ratio is great and Inside really cozy. The only con is that you might have to wait a while. Still a 10/10 experience. Luckily we didn't have to wait as long as we did the first time we visited. We were able to join the Yelp waitlist beforehand, and timed our drive over based on the estimate (30-45 min). One thing to keep in mind is that their rolls are half sized, they come in pieces of 4, which does mean you can try more rolls. I might not get the soft shell crab again though, it's a little bit too much breading to crab ratio. Quality of fish is still as good as ever and so yummy. At noon I went all the way to Costa Mesa to this famous spot with long lines: Eat's Sushi. I came for sushi, but to my surprise, their ribeye teriyaki sizzling steak totally blew me away! Seriously, if you come here and don't order this steak, I'll be heartbroken. For just $12 you get a whole steak--thick, juicy, with that real steak bite. Pair it with teriyaki sauce and grilled onions, and it's easily enough to devour with two bowls of rice! -- A must-order! Sashimi: They offer two types--traditional fresh-cut, and the modern sauced version (basically carpaccio). I think the traditional style is better: super fresh, thick slices. Plus, they serve fresh wasabi for free, which is a huge bonus! Sushi: They even piled fatty tuna trimmings on the side for us, haha--so generous. The taste is standard good sushi quality, but honestly, I'd recommend just going straight for the sashimi to take full advantage of how fresh their fish is. Rolls: All their rolls come in half portions, priced around $7-$8. Perfect for girls (or anyone who doesn't eat a ton)--you can try more flavors that way. They were all pretty tasty! Wait... what just happened?! This was probably one of the best bites of sushi I've had and exactly the way I like it. My daughter and I were at South Coast Plaza killing time and decided to grab some sushi. I hopped on Yelp and we decided to try this place out. They closed the wait list through the app, so I thought maybe they weren't that busy at 5p on a Friday. I was absolutely wrong. This is a small restaurant and there were a lot of people outside. The wait time was 70-110 min, so if it is closed on the app, you have to go in to get on the wait list. I was a little miffed by them closing the wait list (I would not have come had i know it was so busy), but I decided to give them a try and order to go. The order took about 30 min. I didn't read any reviews and quickly glanced at the pictures people posted, so if you're new to this restaurant, I want to tell you the main thing: the prices are reasonable because each "roll" is half the size of a regular roll! This restaurant catapulted to the top of my favorite sushi restaurants because of this. Where else can you go and try different sushi without committing to a full roll of each. I love it! We got the in&out salmon, Alaskan, roly poly and baked lobster rolls. I didn't read the description for the roll poly well, so I didn't realize there are a whole bunch of onions on top. I like onions but not that much, but I paid for it, so I'm going to eat it. Let me tell you... I'm dreaming about those onions. They weren't strong in onion flavor and they were so crunchy. I'm not sure what they do to them, but wow, they were good! And then put them and on top of salmon and real crab (not imitation). It was pretty spectacular. The in&out salmon roll was my other favorite. Everything was good. And to top it off, they gave us our meal in a reusable bag in their signature orange. What they could've done better was to text or call me when my order was ready. We just went back a little after 30 min. Overall, I fell in love with this restaurant at first bite. Hole in the wall and great find while I was out of town. I searched sushi restaurants near me on Yelp and decided to go here based on the reviews and ranking. This spot sits in a strip mall parking lot, which threw us off at first glance but Yelp guided me here so I had to try it out. The venue is very small, located on the corner of a big retail parking lot. Once we sat down, we were pleasantly surprised with the great prices on the menue. The food was excellent and so was the service. I have so many recommendations to share (see my attached photo displaying my selections) but my absolute favorite was the Fire Island (so different, had a slight Smokey taste). This place is amazing!! Every time I go, there is always a long wait but the service is very fast. We got the crunchy salmon, Alaskan, and crunch roll. All of them were really fresh and tasted amazing. I love that their appetizers were high quality and really tasty too. The miso soup is so affordable and it was one of the best miso soups I've had! The salad is large and the sauce that comes with it was delicious. Their crispy rice is also a must. To make this experience even better, their bathrooms were so clean and it smelled like a luxury hotel!! The inside ambiance was beautifully decorated for a smaller restaurant. I love Eat's. It's a treat whenever I make it down here. Their regular sushi is solid, no complaints. But I come here for the "New Style Salmon Sashimi". Yuzu truffle ponzu sauce, it's so good. It's sweet and so umami. I can see how it might be offputting to some people without a particular flavor palate. Besides that, I love eel, so I got a bunch of eel. It was delicious. We were really hungry and they were edible, but not one of them stood out as " delicious"? The rolls that we tried that I can remember: Black spider roll Bikini roll Tiger roll Dragon roll Albacore delight Fire island Baja California The fish was pretty overworked and mushy. The garlic edamame was tasty but an appetizer shouldn't be the star of the show, obviously. We didn't try any other sashimi or sushi by itself so I don't know if that would've made a difference. I finally got to try EATS SUSHI! There was no wait to be seated at lunch time. BUT... there's no lunch special. It's regular price only. The restaurant had a nice ambiance. I like the art on the walls and ceiling. The wait staff was patient and helpful. We got a few really nice recommendations from our waiter. I also saw some recommendations from the Yelp community. Thank you! We tried the salmon blue crab, the bento chicken katsu (very filling), the albacore delight roll (my favorite) and the new style bluefin sashimi (tasty but not worth it). My friends in the OC said that this is their go-to sushi spot. I learned why. Eat's Sushi is a smaller sushi restaurant tucked away in a strip mall. The restaurant fills up quickly so you have to get here early. The menu consists primarily of nigiri sushi and sushi rolls. There are several appetizers - edamame, gyoza, karaage, etc. they have a couple of noodle dishes (ramen, udon), and a few set dishes - chicken teriyaki, tonkatsu, etc But you go here for the sushi. Things like shrimp tempura was $3.95 for two pieces. The nigiri are priced at per-piece and the prices are somewhat reasonable. - $2.50 for maguro, salmon, hamachi, medai, etc. $3.50 for ikura, ama ebi, etc. Emily was our server and she was great! We ordered an assortment of nigiri, rolls, and appetizers and everything was delicious. Service was good except for our waitress.
