My wife grabbed their peach pie at the peach festival for $18. We were very disappointed. The filling was a glob of undercooked and unsweetened peaches. The crust tasted like bread: it was thick and undercooked. If you're selling a peach pie at a peach festival for nearly $20 than it better be dynamite. I was excited when my wife sent me a picture. Eats and Sweets is small, locally owned cafe in downtown Lafayette. The atmosphere is really comfortable and kid friendly. You order at the counter and wait for your food. They have really tasty gluten-free bagguettes that you can order sandwiches on. They have 'make your own' sandwiches and salads. I usually get tuna salad, which is really good, and have also gotten their chicken salad and turkey sandwiches as well. They have really yummy gluten-free baked goods such as cupcakes and banana bread (they do contain dairy). They also have ice cream and sorbet, most of which is GF. Design your own sandwiches are excellent. I particularly like the egg salad the mozzarella and the tofu which was like a Smoky flavored tofu bacon. excellent fun ice cream floats and milkshakes. This is definitely my go to lunch spot if I'm walking the streets of Old Town (I usually am). Bobby, the owner is extremely nice and his wife bake all of the goods! I think it is a nice but sometimes cramped place that might need a larger area for waiting. The food is great and the ice cream is amazing. With two freezer cases and a case of baked goods you can always find something you want. There is a small bar where you can fill a out sandwich and salad forms. Every time I have ordered I have gotten exactly what I want and was impressed. One thing I don't like is the line in the summer, especially at Art Night Out. A fun place to bring the kids or grandkids- They love being able to pick their own ice cream flavors and sandwich components. I wasn't very thrilled with my sandwich - The tomatoes were "flat" in the middle of summer etc. These are things that kids don't care about! Today was my second time in and who I think is the owner remembered my face and was truly happy that I liked it enough to come back a second time. The food is awesome. You make your own concoction....with everything from tofu to turkey to lettuce to fresh basil. Pretty much anything you could want. The ingredients are fresh and delicious. The best part is that you can get a regular sized sandwich + chips + a drink for a very reasonable price. Add in a delicious fresh baked cookie and you are still under $10. Their gluten free cupcakes are delicious, they also make gluten free banana bread. I've found that at other bakeries the cupcakes are dry, not here. They're perfect. Most recently I ordered a chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake was beautiful, moist, raspberries were fresh and the chocolate ganache icing was divine. It was one of the best cakes I've ever had. My 15 guests kept telling me how great of a job I did (i just ordered it!) and asked where the cake came from. Eats & Sweets is our go to bakery. Eats & Sweets is a friendly local business with very good sandwiches and ice cream. I have always been satisfied with the quality of food. However, be prepared to wait a half hour or more for your food if there are three or more people in front of you. I was thinking this was a fluke until yesterday when I waited for 1 hour and 45 minutes to get three sandwiches made from the food truck where they make you pay a mandatory gratuity. Not sure I will ever eat there again. While the quality of their food is there the time it takes and the price you pay simply is not worth it for me. read more

The quiche was also wet so the crust was soaked. We got there about 1/2 hr after ordering and wrote down our order only to find out the menu was from yesterday and hadn't changed it yet. After a visit to the WOW museum, just down the street, we used Yelp to help us locate a lunch spot and were very pleased with the results. I love the ordering process - you use a card to select the items you would like in your sandwich and then hand it in and they make it for you. I really find it takes the stress out of ordering on the spot - I like to contemplate. They have daily soup specials and I loved the farro in the vegetable soup - nutritious AND delicious.
