I am here to update my review specifically for happy hour as I have been coming pretty regularly to happy hour as of late. I love a good happy hour - especially on the weekend. The vibes at the bar are always high - and the team behind the bar is excellent. They have glasses of wine for $10, and select cocktails on HH as well. If you're hungry, there's a good assortment of snacks to choose from as well. I really love the fries, burrata, potato rolls, and brussel sprout Caesar. What I love most about this happy hour is that it is available until 7 pm. If you're looking for a spot where the bar is full of regulars and the team is always friendly, this is your vibe. And while not on happy hour, the dirty martinis are divine. read more

I had brunch at Eating House on an early Sunday afternoon. We did not have reservations but were still able to be seated right away at a small high top table near the bar. It was a very hot day so we appreciated being able get seats inside the restaurant. I had a bellini. It was good and wasn't very sweet like some of them can be. It also tasted a little flat but I think it's because they use a sparkling wine instead of prosecco, possibly. I had the chicken and waffles. The chicken was very flavor and juicy. I actually thought it was going to be white meat but it was dark meat and really good. I didn't care for the waffle. It had a flavor and cream that I did not like. Nice ambiance and the entire staff was great; very helpful and accommodating. read more

We came here two years ago for brunch with friends. While I enjoyed it overall, I did find their menu a little limited for me as a pescatarian. Tonight we decided to mix things up and give this place another go, this time for their Miami Spice menu. Their selections for this menu highlight some favorites from their current dinner menu. For starters I had the tuna tiradito, which was exceptional. Hubby had the pulled burrata which I snagged a bite of and was also excellent. For entrees we both went with the caramelized sea bass atop creamed corn, with a side of broccolini. Everything was cooked to perfection. The sea bass was incredibly moist, with a wonderful sear. The creamed corn was decadent and delicious! The broccolini brought a welcome brightness to the main. It had a smokey char and grilled lemon which punched it up nicely. For dessert we couldn't resist the dirt cup. It makes you feel like a kid again, digging through cookie crumble dirt for buried treasure in the form of hazelnuts, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. I tried to only have a couple bites but it was hard to resist! All in all this was an impressive meal from start to finish. Our server Marisol was also fantastic and super patient with my dietary issues and was able to ensure some subtle changes to my dishes. Eating out on a restricted diet can be kind of difficult but she made every effort to see things were taken care of, and that was very appreciated. We did not have drinks this round but they do have a thoughtfully executed cocktail menu including some zero proof options, and even a N/A wine by the glass! We had a reservation through OpenTable for Eating House in Coral Gables tonight and were seated immediately even though the restaurant was packed, that was a great start. The ambiance is beautiful, dark, and romantic, with the perfect mood. Even with a World Cup soccer game on, it never felt loud or overwhelming. Our server, Dragen, was outstanding... attentive, friendly, and genuinely cool. He even brought us some sweet bread bites on the house, which was a nice touch. --Unfortunately, the food was the weak point. We started with the pulled burrata, which felt experimental but nothing special. --The famous carbonara was decent and came with a fun tableside show mixing the egg yolk, but it was a bit salty and more creamier that a traditional carbonara, not my favorite. --The slow-cooked short rib was a real disappointment: overly salty, dry, with strange flavors and a tasteless side. I could barely finish half of it and had to use the pasta to make it edible. Overall, the service and atmosphere were excellent, but the food fell well below average for the hype this place has. I asked for medium and received medium well. My server offered to remake it, which I appreciated. I had a fantastic experience for my birthday; our server, Marisol, was attentive and offered excellent suggestions. ​My cocktail, the Black Parade, was unique and delicious--the gin, strawberry, and St. Germain blended beautifully with the activated charcoal. For a starter, the tuna crudo was incredibly fresh, perfectly complemented by the guava sauce and pickled onions. My short rib entree was tender, though the true star was the Tuscan kale with a sherry demi-glace. I have to figure out how to recreate that kale at home! I went a few years ago and decided to go back for miami spice and the service was amazing. We got in pretty quickly for a brunch on a Sunday and although it was busy, our waiter was phenomenal. For the miami spice menu we started with the truffle sweet potato tator tots which is so yummy and creamy. We got the breakfast burger that had this flavorful sweet sauce & i wish I could've had the option to just take some sauce home from how delicious. Now one of the stars of the show... the cap n crunch pancakes .... WOW WOW WOW!!!!! I would come just for this over and over. The vanilla bean syrup with the cereal and the fluffy pancake is such a great mix and not repugnant at all. Ambiance was amazing and we will come back sooner than we'd think!! I remember when this restaurant was in a smaller and more casual location serving Tang mimosas. They had come a long way but sadly I did not like my visit to this new fancier location. We ordered the Korean chicken sandwich with tater tots, shrimp salad and tuna tartare. I honestly did not enjoy any of them. The tuna tartare had so many potato strips on top that it was almost impossible to taste anything else on that dish but fried potato. The chicken sandwich had no sauce and the crust was so thick it was not enjoyable. The tater tots were just thrown on the plate with zero presentation and no salt. The bread was room temperature and dry. The pickled onions and carrots inside this sandwich were tasty. The shrimp salad was just a bunch of lettuce tossed together with a little bit of dressing and shrimps tossed of top. Nothing special at all. Again zero presentation. The shrimps were nicely cooked with a nice charred outside. The stars go to the shrimps in this salad, other than that, everything else was just average and bland. Our server was friendly and polite. However, we arrived on a Sunday around 11am and they sat us in the back room when there was tables available in the main room. It was not busy throughout the enitre restaurant including the bar. Even after we left it was not busy. The back room is a bit dark and apart from everything. It is a perfect room for private parties but not so much for a family Sunday brunch. I remembered this place to have some uniqueness about it and delicious food. This visit was definitely not the same. We didn't have reservations, so we sat at the bar which was just fine. Loved the industrial look on the inside, but omg it was FREEZING in there. Our bartender/waiter was amazing though. We had a couple a drinks from the happy hour menu. I really enjoyed Dolores Street, which was essentially a lychee margarita. To eat, I had the captain toast crunch pancakes and it was so good, even better than I imagined. It's soaked in some sort of cream, giving it a slight tres leches feel. It is VERY sweet so if you don't like sweet items or not in the mood for it, you wouldn't want to get this. My bf and I also shared the BEC sandwich and I loved it. The bun was so soft and pillowy. Little potato sticks added crunch to the sandwich. The egg was really fluffy. The sandwich had a great balance of salt. My bf got the guava French toast. I'm not a guava girly, but appreciated the thickness of the bread and how it held up. Lastly, we had the fries. They were great. They were out of the truffle ketchup which was fine. Their house made regular ketchup was different but good. I left here fat and happy and 110% will return again. The sweet spot for me is getting there or setting a reservation towards the end of brunch hours, so you can enjoy happy hour when it rolls around. It's worth it. read more

All of us enjoyed what we had to have for Sunday Brunch. I would look at the recent pics posted here for reference. For starters, I had the tater tots...except these have a sauce and cheese sprinkled on top. My main was short ribs steak and eggs. My wife had the Dirt Cup...a chocolate salted caramel Oreo with vanilla ice cream which was exceptional. The kid liked the Captain Crunch pancakes. Only 2 drawbacks from 5 to 4 stars. Good luck finding parking. This is Coral Gables. Probably best to find a parking garage. It was noisy! Exceptionally noisy. I went to Eating House yesterday with my boyfriend and four friends, and let me tell you, it's the best restaurant I've eaten at in a while. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. It has amazing portions as well. For starters, we got the Pulled Burrata, Brussels Sprouts Caesar Salad, Soft Baked Potato Rolls, and Yellowfin Tuna Tiradito. The rolls came with a maple brown butter on the side that was sooo good, the perfect mix of sweet and salty. For our entrées, we had the Pasta Carbonara, which was my absolute favorite, and the Wagyu Smash Burger. It came with the best truffle fries, and the whole plate was filled. They were incredibly crispy and delicious. We also had the Slow Cooked Short Ribs, which were so tender and served over a rich, flavorful sauce. Of course, we got all the desserts, the Dirt Cup with ice cream on the bottom, the Cap'N Crunch Panna Cotta, and a Tres Leches that I forgot the name of. My husband and I dined there for my birthday, and I just need to give a huge shoutout to Yelenny and the rest of the staff for making my night so special and memorable. I love the mix of hot and cold. The short rib was phenomenal. Every bite was good and it could be pulled apart with my fork. And the dessert duty cup is not only delicious but sooo cute how it comes out like a cute little plant. Now a word about the service and ambience. The ambience is cool, they have a dark and moody vibe going on. However, they need to better arrange their tables. We got sat in a back corner, despite making a reservation, and more than half the time we were passing servers plates and cups because it was impossible to get through to us. The service was great, until the end when our waiter gave us some serious attitude. I asked if the check could be divided separate ways and he said no but we could use multiple cards. He said he was going to come back with the credit card machine that way we could just tell him what we ordered and pay. He came back and I told him what I ordered and he said "I'm making an exception this time for you guys". I'm sorry, what exception? You literally just said we could pay with separate cards. He also walked away as I was paying and left the credit card machine sitting at our table. And he was shaking his head "no" the entire time he took our payments. His attitude at the end really put a bad taste in my mouth on the whole experience. TL;DR: great food, pour seating arrangements, service is good but server had attitude over payment. read more

The laugh we had when the appetizers came out... I feel one person could've eaten this. The flavors of the tuna in my opinion did not go well together. The burrata was very good, but again small. The short rib came with the same amount of pieces it would've came with had we ordered off that menu. The ravioli was good but felt it didn't vibe well all the other flavors. Glad to be back and I'll definitely return. Had the 420 menu with the PG-13 mocktail alongside some friends. Though I don't do wagyu or beef ribs, I was GRATEFUL for the check replacing my beef options for chicken. He could've said no (because it was set menu) but he went above and beyond and that spoke volumes! That part was 5/5. The first three starters were DELICIOUS! Crudo with crunchy chips sprinkled with tajin, the shrimp with the Indian dipping sauce (the pinch of lime elevated it) and the snoop dog (mine was made with chicken). The main entrees were the chicken Parmesan bao bun (my favorite) and the ribs (sub chicken). The chicken was too crunchy but whereas in the bao bun, it was cooked to perfection (needed a little more marinara sauce). The sauce for the "rib" was incredible! The corn and bbq sauce combo was great! The desserts were good, but the chocolate one was way too sweet and no one finished it and there were 6 of us. The ice cream sandwich was yummy, but it would've been better with vanilla ice cream instead of matcha. I know matcha is popular but it wasn't (in my opinion) the right pairing for the concept. The ambiance was vibing with a 420 movie and old school hip hop playing in the background. It was cool and the vibes were great! I tried Eating House for the first time during their special "305 Day" set menu, so I'm not sure if this review fully reflects their usual offerings but I was a bit disappointed. The crispy cheese curd mostly tasted like grease with some parmesan on top, and the grilled pork wings were overcooked and dry. The rest of the menu was just okay, but none of the dishes stood out, and we barely finished any of the plates. On top of that, every dish came out slower and slower, and by the time they reached our table, they were barely warm enough to eat. Service was incredibly slow overall. We were there for over two hours, even though we came toward the end of the night when it wasn't too crowded. Maybe their regular menu is better, but based on this experience, I'm not in a rush to come back. read more

I've been to Eating House in their old location and new for various occasions: brunch, dinner, just drinks at the bar. Always everything has been stellar. But I recently went for brunch again and I can't believe in all my times I had yet to try their infamous captain crunch pancakes. They were so good that I feel they need their own acclamation: Don't skip on the captain crunch pancakes. I thought they would be too sweet, too cerealy, too I don't know. This time we ordered them and they were out of this world! Served piping hot! The consistency of the pancake was more on the thinner less fluffy side, which I also appreciate. The capt'n crunch cereal was not overbearing. It was just delightful. But they need to be hot. That's what makes it so delicious. The maple syrup and butter bring it all together. Stumbled upon their location on Giralda as went for brunch when it had first opened at his initial smaller location in the Gables. The chef has a following so excited to get a table outside (with a 30 mins wait) on a Saturday evening. We started with cocktails at their bar hightop area and our table ordered the birds and the bees cocktails but I am not a fan of a Paloma, I ordered a mezcal margarita. We started with the Brussel sprouts Caesar salad which was the star for me. Also the truffle fries and whatever the dipping sauce, I forgot to ask dare I guess a burnt ketchup as it was brown, it was delicious. But then it went downhill as we ordered chicken parmigiana (probably nostalgic from when we were kids) but it was 1 pound and it was breaded, but was not a fan of the flavor, I had to add chili flakes. It was a huge portion as we had leftovers but did not want them. Also ordered the branzino meunière which is a white wine citrus butter sauce which came with broccolini as we also had ordered a broccolini as a side. Perhaps my palette is not suited for these dishes as it tends to gravitate to Asian or Peruvian, but appreciated the inventive take on classic dishes.
